It's really hard to tell, I think it depends on where you live and where you found them. If there's no sign of a grave it's a safe bet they are from an animal. If it was a kid there would most likely be more bones scattered around the area, once animals find a corpse they usually tear it up.

It's mostly quartz since I live in California, but the thing on the very left is something I found at Lake Shasta, since the drought caused the water level to go down, I found this.
I'm not 100% sure, but it could either be a part of a buoy or some sort of cap on a boat, I doubt it's a gas cap but there's rubber on the inside of it. There's also a strange hook on it, so maybe it has to do with an underwater device.

Pretty cool, one time I hiked up a forested hill and found an old shack with a fallen over radio tower. The floor was rotted out and in the holes I could find a few vacuum tubes like in this picture. There was a huge metal cabinet too, but because the floor was rotted it was sitting diagonally and I couldn't open it. Now I wonder what's in that cabinet, and the shack isn't far away...
