Although it will all be alright once we hit information singularity at the verge of the next big crunch happening due to zero point energy hitting maximum levels due to all other particles being extinct at that point

I don't really find myself as a shut in but instead I'll analyze someone until I decide I'd like to have them in my life. There's this girl at work who I'm on the fence about. I can't tell if she's fucking with me or is actually a nice person for her own enjoyment. yeah, totally. My music taste has become so specific that I have no idea how to explain the kind of music I'm into anymore, and whereas in my teens I used to listen to albums only, now there are only certain tracks that I view as the pinnacle of my personal view of "best" that I have to make playlists but once I've listened to the playlists enough I run out of stuff and I can't find any good shit anymore. It's all really textural and complex electronic stuff that doesn't sacrifice beautiful melodies for boring theory exercises or "wonky" silliness, it's all mostly electronic or shoegaze or garage but those tags don't even really apply anymore to a lot of it, and it's all very new shit. I find older music pointless personally, since it obviously wasn't able to take advantage of modern technology

I don't think, at this stage of music history, that it can be done. A good quote goes "mediocre artists borrow, great artists steal". It's a transformative process imo. I would start with multiple influences (bonus points if they are different from one another) and filter it through your specific sensibilities I guess. My problem is that i fixate on a specific artist or sound and trap myself in a little box

has anyone here been diagnosed with ADHD?
received my diagnosis sophomore year of college. was always a good student but I can't focus for shit on things that don't interest me, but I was always motivated to do well so I'd make sure to get my work done by removing all distractions. still took fucking forever though.
now I'm 23 and off meds, doing ok at my job (I work in consulting and hate it).
does this sound related to INTP shit?

I like many different genres, a lot of it changes depending on my mood. Right now what sticks out to me is grunge and experimental.

I'm afraid to ask to be diagnosed. My brother asked our doctor if he had ADHD and the doctor said if he did have ADHD, he would have been diagnosed a long time ago. Like everybody, I believe I have ADHD. If I ask my doctor, he might think I'm a Ritalin/addy junkie or something.
I'm 18 and graduating high school. I feel super focused in school but as soon as I get home my focus goes right out the window when it comes to homework and responsibilities. I've had a job for less than a year now and I am extremely unsatisfied with it and I fear I will be hopping jobs for the rest of my life.
Can you relate to any of this? How did the meds affect you? I feel like I could actually have free time if I took meds to finish my homework in a reasonable time window...

I think you can find something you're passionate about and genuinely not hate your job. I want to do creative work, but I have student loans and shit so I'm trying to make a little bit of money before I do that. also I need to work on getting better at my art as well.
totally relate to what you said. I can focus with a structured environment and clear objective (to a reasonable degree) but when I go home and can prioritize instant gratification over work, it gets very hard.
meds made me much more focused and able to work toward goals. they also greatly increased my anxiety and neuroses. I started getting some pretty dark ideas of the world and existential unrest (didn't browse 4chan at the time either!!) that kind of fucked me up for a while.
consulting is just boring. I don't really do interesting work, but I get paid to sit at a desk for a while so it's not too bad either. just feels really slow paced and easy.

good luck with your journey lad. if you're ever backed into a corner and you just don't have energy to get your shit in order, maybe give adderall a shot. just keep a daily journal or something to make sure you're not going off the deep end, and keep the dose relatively low (I think a too high dose was my main issue).
also meditation is the key to it all.

of course osu is autistic as fuck but clickitty clicking dem circles really fast is pretty therapeutic
quake because it's still the most fast-paced and interesting FPS after all these years
rocket league because there's no other game that relies so heavily on predicting trajectories and mastering basic mechanics
as for music, i've been playing various instruments for over 10 years so i have a ton of influences and am constantly thinking about theory/form, even when i'm barely aware of it.

I started with a book called 8 Minute Meditation and basically just do with what they said to do in the first scenario (watch your breath). I'm probably not the best to talk to about it tho. I just know it's really helped clear out the mental clutter that was killing me.
