It's more expensive for them to use machines to run a restaurant than it is to cycle through new employees every few months and never give anyone a raise. They are easily damaged, imprecise, slow, and are just hazardous in general. But the math also rejects any notion that automation will take over those positions. More likely, a lot of locations will just close. In seattle there were plenty of people who were getting fucked in the ass by min wage but most workers were making 11-12 already so it wasn't such a huge leap especially in a very busy city.
