I don't believe such a thing exists. But if I consider for a second that it does, the concept of heaven wouldn't work for me. I need times of unhappiness in order to be happy. If heaven existed, and heaven was defined as eternal bliss, I'm sure your view would be intrinsically changed so you'd be eternally happy regardless of anything else.

Also, does it ever irritate anyone else when people ask "Can God create a rock so heavy he can't lift it?"

Of fucking course he can. He's God. So he can create a rock so heavy he can't lift it, and then lift it, because paradoxes would HAVE to be violable by a truly omnipotent being.

How is it a meme?

I'm honestly asking
>>
I believe there is a heaven and god, I hope he is there and thinking of the right moment to help us
>>
>>27642158
All hype no bite
>>
No. Firstly, in most cases in the Bible, 'heaven' or 'heavens' refers to something like a higher order of existence, so for example you have the quote: "The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them." which is also very often rendered "The one enthroned IN THE HEAVES..." The context makes it clear that this is referring to the supreme state of God over all temporality and the fleeting wind of our lives.

Secondly, because the idea of heaven is actually part of the 'doctrine of Hell', which is a false and malicious doctrine. There is no Hell.

Thirdly, the idea of Heaven as we know it has acquired so many connotations and assocations and false ideas around it that it's absolutely worthless (on top of what I've already mentioned). The promises of the scriptures, which are made to the elect, are a resurrection of the dead and the creation of a new universe in which all of humanity (and animals) will dwell. This requires first the full number of elect to come in, and it also requires a dissolution of the current universe which hasn't taken place yet. All the dead are dead - or "asleep" awaiting resurrection. None of them are conscious in some sort of alternate universe made up of clouds and boredom.
>>

How is any other philosophy or spiritual belief any different?

No.

Paradoxes cannot apply to the omnipotent. If there's anything God can't do, he's no longer God. He has to exist outside of causality and rules a priori.

>>27642009

See above

I don't actually believe in heaven, or any specific instance of God found in religion, but I don't understand why you think making the unhappy happy is impossible. Hell, it's already treatable with chemicals readily available today. Happiness is nothing but a social construct based around chemical interactions that make people feel "pleasure" and "contentment", etc.

Now, if think the self is important, and that the self is bound up with misery, and that "curing" this is killing that self and thus undesirable, that's a different set of questions.
>>
>>27642158
it has been transmitted via cultural value for more than 2000 years as it started off as an idea to reform Judaism with the gospel of Christ.

Well how would a spoopy spirit that disproves science and therefore chemicals be given chemicals to make them happy? Doesn't make sense. Daily reminder that the Shroud of Turin is in fact Jesus Christ's burial cloth.

>b-but the 1988 tests dated it back to the 13th century!
The sample was cut from a corner of the Shroud which was part of a later repair, the dating contradicts other evidence, the sample was contaminated by bacteria, smoke or reactive carbon and the calculations were done incorrectly. You can verify all of my statements.

New tests that have been carried out in the University of Padua's laboratories by professors from various Italian universities, led by Giulio Fanti, Italian professor of mechanical and thermal measurement at the University of Padua's engineering faculty, have dated the fibres from the cloth to a period between 300BC to 400AD.

we dont really have any scientific laws about what happens to your consciousness after death. it probably just fades and turns to heat or something. who knows, we dont have a good understanding about consciousness or the human brain. also, just because humanity made a "law" it isn't always entirely true. we make our laws off estimations and experimentation

the big bang is kind of on the concept that another universe collapsed into a singularity then exploded and formed our universe. our universe will probably collapse and form another singularity at some point aswell. this may be confusing but it is fully compliant with thermodynamics

this somewhat explains it

0 + 1 = 1

also, why do you think we can understand the power of an omnipotent being? it almost seems discrediting to be able to comprehend the concept of "god". if he is completely omnipotent and extremely powerful, how come us meager humans can "comprehend" the concept of it?
>>
>>27646469
Ok, now you're at least getting there

>>

No. You're purposefully twisting things

We're capable of understanding the unlimited potential of God. We're not capable of logically explaining the birth of the universe

Yet people will do their damndest to try to disprove God when they have no alternative

It's the most biased illogical thing I've ever seen, and the funniest part is that atheists scoff at people who believe there's a God, even when they have no answer for anything
>>

I think of it this way, either you are bad in your life and go to Hell for a while, like prison, depending on what you did, and then get reborn(having the eternal memory of all the torturing and suffering you had to endure when in Hell) or you do good in your life and get to stay in Heaven literally doing anything you could possibly imagine until you decide the Earth needs you again.

Hard to tell. I believe in places. We are in a material place right now, where matter is dense. When we die we pass to a place where things are different. I think it's better to admit that we don't have all the answers yet than to put faith in something that has no evidence of ever existing.
Automatically giving credit to a God for the things we can't know yet could keep the truth hidden for much longer.
