I think that's the issue you're not understanding, they are trying to fix their physical form so their mental state can work better, basically imagine trying to tell someone that's left handed to write with their right hand, they could even do it with a lot of work but if we just change the pen to the other hand, thus sorting the physical aspect, it becomes way easier for that person to function.
Also the entire thing about changing the body is because it's just easier than fixing the head, like we are still years behind being able to fully understand how the human brain works and how we can alter certain aspects of it.
There's a lot of research but I don't really think people would focus billions on solving tranny issues alone.
A simple metaphor would be, it's easier to do this quick and dirty fix to the hardware by adding something here and there than changing the operational system (in living beings in this case).

I'm 27, too old for hormones to do anything and I don't want to make my parents even more disappointed in me. First time I dressed as a girl and was happy as fuck I think I was 7 with my sisters help.
