IIRC, Hikari wants to know how to get Toji to get with her, so Asuka has the idea of asking Shinji, and Shinji thinks something to the order of "If I say nothing, they will hurt me now, but when what I say fails, they will hurt me later." This is right after Shinji gives his advice, and thinks that they thought it was stupid enough to hurt him now (keep in mind Asuka is fucking badass in the manga and Shinji is deathly afraid of her because their first interaction involved her sexually threatening him).
Shinji is legit cute as fuck and I would be his friend and probably develop a gay crush on him and eventually try to fuck his boypussy.
