Very few health issues were harmful. Life expectancy has always been at least 70 for humans. A splinter doesn't mean shit now or then. I got a splinter as a kid. It hurt like fuck but I iced it down, grabbed it with needle nose pliers, and yanked it out. It was red and swollen for about a week but then it was back to normal.
