The best part of smoking for me was always the routine of it. You wake up on a cool, crisp fall morning, light that smoke and have a moment of reflection with a smoke. You're at a party and someone gives you the look, and you know you're going to have a cool conversation, almost a party in a party, outside on the driveway or whatever with the other smokers. That cup of coffee or whiskey after work, light a smoke.
Same with after a meal. Especially if you had a nice meal, then you get to do this other thing you really enjoy, and it's relaxing and cathartic.

My cigarettes are way too long. They're like Marlboro Red Special Reserve 100's or something. The cigs seem longer than the regular Red 100's. Takes forever to finish smoking one. I get to a point where I'm like, "Okay, I'm cold and I've been outside for too long, this is not comfy". Usually have to toss the butt well before I finish because the nausea starts creeping up. Such a hassle finishing just one cig that I can barely get myself to do it.
And what's fucking stupid is that regular Marlboro Reds, which are smaller, cost more than this Special Reserve 100. The Reserve costs $8.50, the Reds cost $9.50. I would love anyone to make sense of that. It's because of the stupid fucking taxes. Cigarette X and Cigarette Y both have to be over $8, even though X is considerably smaller than Y. Fucking wack economics.

Smoking decreases the quality of life you are already able to live, it stains your teeth, decreases lung function, shrinks your penis, zaps your energy and just generally makes you feel unwell. Look at any smoker who has done it for more than 4 years, they always have a grey worn look to them, and tend to cough a lot more than average this is due to a lack of oxygen getting to the surface of the skin. On top of that you now have an addiction that you have to rely on to get you through the day, standing outside in the freezing wet cold just to quickly suck down that cigarette while coughing your lungs up is one of the most miserable experiences you can have, but of course as a smoker you only think of the "good" times.

One time I went to new york city, and I sat in washington square and smoked cigarettes. A couple of people offered me a buck for a smoke, which I accepted, and I had a short conversation with each of them.
It was like omegle IRL, and with no anxiety because it was completely anonymous. It wouldn't have been possible without cigarettes. They broke down that first barrier to contact.
I wouldn't want to make a habit of it though because after a while it makes you smell.
