I knew the new Star Wars movie wasn't going to be amazing. I knew it. I knew JJ Abrahms could never deliver something truly spectacular. He's an acceptable director at best, and I knew Star Wars was going to be mediocre.
But here's my sin, what I actually feel guilty about: I wanted it to be dreadful. I wanted it to be a miserable fucking experience. I prayed for it to be a bitter, soul-crushing disappointment, something that would leave audiences as cold as the prequel trilogy did. And I was disappointed - terribly so - when it wasn't.
I wanted it to be terrible so that it would shatter people's faith in the Star Wars franchise forever so that we could finally, FINALLY move on. If Star Wars flopped, then maybe, just maybe we could try and find something new to love. Maybe we'd finally move out of the creative rut western society seems to have been in for the last half-decade and start exploring new universes and new ideas again.
But no. The movie was just good enough to be mildly entertaining, and in being "just good enough" it's ensured that we'll never get the sequels the Star Wars franchise truly deserves, nor will we finally be able to break our love affair with this piece of late-70s kitsch and get on with our lives.
Fuck it, Star Wars, you're never going to be something I can love again, so why the fuck can't you even manage to be something I can hate?

Programming isn't really 'white collar'. The places I've interviewed at people didn't even have collars, they were wearing tshirts and shit.
But really they don't give a fuck about degrees. Programming is such a hard skill to quantify, you can have a first in your computer science degree, know all the theoretical shit, and still not be able to perform the most basic programming tasks like reversing an array. Even the recruiters don't give a shit if you have a degree or not, you just throw as many programming buzzwords, languages and libraries on your CV as possible to get past the non-technical recruiters and get an interview. Once you do get an interview many places will have coding interviews or some kind of test as part of their selection process.
So yeah, and all you need is a computer to learn programming, there's shitloads of resources online for you to do it.
