How do you escape the lower-middle class?
>>
the whole system is designed to keep you poor, either win the lottery or live like a jew until you have enough startup to become a landlord
>>
>>25413609
You can't.

Then again, I'm from Putinstan, it's pretty hopeless here overall.

This is the most bullshit comic I ever read. Yeah right her parent worked 2 jobs each which is why they're so poor. Not to mention if you work hard you DO deserve it and fucking really? Her father is dying? Oh and they hire a tutor because of a b+ fucking sure.. also wtf? Not all middle class people have parents who fucking know a boss of a big company or is it about a realy really rich family? Thi comic is just bullshit who the fuck made it?

join Scandinavia in our pseudo communist utopia.
>government literally pays you to go to university
>government subsidizes food and water making sure it's high quality and cheap
>almost free healthcare (except teeth)
>government pays you child alimony
>even if you fail and go to prison, the prisons are luxurious and you can access libraries and play video games and whatnot

Richard is absolutely upper class but i'm not sure that the author knows that.
>>
You don't. It will always benefit the elite and upper class to have a larger population of lower income cattle.
>>
>>25413807
>but i'm not sure that the author knows that
where is it implied he's not?
>>
>>25413609
This is why I feel no sympathy towards the rich or their problems. If your family is rich, you're literally fucking set. You pop out of the womb and you're already set.

People talk about all sorts of factors towards success: height, appearance, charisma, determination, all that.

Nope.

Money and nepotism. All you need to live a cushy easy life.
>>

>work your ass off in university to get a job (outshine the kids who spent their summers getting unpaid internship experience)
>work your ass off at your job because your complete lack of connections means you're the first to go

that's how i got from hovering around the poverty line to six figures

but remember, all this time working is going to make it tough to develop relationships, so you'll still end up on /r9k/

also i have no idea how you'd do it if you didn't start working your ass off at 11

>>
>tfw rich as fuck parents, I'll never have to worry about money
>People think this means your life is set and nothing bad can ever happen to you.

To be honest, I wish my parents were middle-class instead. My parents are rich as fuck, my dad inherited his dad's business and expanded it to a multi-million dollar company, my mom was a big-shot lawyer a huge firm and did consulting even after she left, charging people insane money by the hour, I mean she literally made more money in an hour than most people make in a week or a month.

And because of that, expectations were VERY high for everyone in my family. I have three siblings, an older sister, a younger brother and a little sister and trust me when I tell you that my family went to fucking shit from all of the pressure our parents were putting onto us. I mean there were points in our lives where we felt completely abandoned and had to look after each other, our parents didn't have much time and they always thought that since they came from harder backgrounds, that we had to work just as hard, if not harder to out-perform them.

They literally cut contact with me for 4 years because I didn't get accepted into Princeton and went to join the military instead. I don't regret it, I had a lot of fun and enjoyed my time there, but my siblings are nervous wrecks, my brother is in an ivy league studing to become a doctor and my parents are just being assholes to him. They refuse to give him money unless he has a steady job, they refuse to help him if he does something bad etc.

Same with my sisters - they're doing something my parents don't 100% approve of? Cut off. No support whatsoever, emotional or monetary. Now that my mom has passed away, my dad barely even stops working. We all spent the holidays by ourselves. I mean... fuck this tbq familia.

That's what I'm talking about. People just think you're being a whiny bitch, but money doesn't change how happy you are. I was the happiest I ever was living in a small apartment with my bro when were stationed in Korea, laughing our asses off every single night, now I got some money money and I'm working as an administrative assistant, but it hasn't made me any happier than I was then.
>>

The problem with people nowadays is that everyone thinks they're entitled to the well-paying, respectable "lead" jobs starting out but refuse to put any work in to get there.

And honestly, I have no sympathy for those who refuse to work.
>>
It's hilarious that he used a man for the lazy rich guy, and the girl as a hardworking sensible person.
>>
My father came from a military family where he had 5 siblings and my grandfather was just a high school science teacher after his service, his mother stayed at home and didn't work. They were dirt poor, and my father became an engineer making six figures. Explain this you lazy NEETs. If you put the work in you can escape poverty.

Anyways, Paula should be blaming her dumbass dindu nuffin parents. Instead of blaming Richard, who did everything right.
>>

>lower-middle class

>>25413733
The only bullshit part of the comic is how it implies that the woman actually has to study and work hard in order to have a decent life. She has the option of just golddigging her way into the life of someone like Richard, there's no shortage of men who would be willing to provide for a woman.

The only reason that she's a woman at all in this comic is because its easier for most readers to feel sympathy for a woman. If the poor person was a man then more readers would think he just didn't work hard enough and deserves to be poor.

Your problems are negligible and amount to nothing more than "I get lonely sometimes". Please get over it and dry your tears with 100 dollar bills.
>>

Because she was a kid
No kid is gonna choose learning over tv/vidya/whatever
Parents should provide discipline not entertainment

>>
>>25413609

You cheat your fucking ass off and shit on the guys who are even remotely better than you every chance you get. Everyone goes on about hard work and determination beating talent or whatever traits you were born with (like being fucking loaded), but there's not much a hardworking person can do against a good-looking, rich, charismatic, talented person who's also a hard worker.

Cheat. Fucking CHEAT. Lie, cheat, steal, and squeeze your way into getting a piece of those fat bastards' pie. Honest work will get you nowhere without a bit of dishonest work thrown into the mix.

Seriously, the game's rigged from the start. Those born into wealth have that much more to build upon. What's a million dollar loss to the scion of a business family? It's death to the business owner of a second-generation immigrant family.

A ton of people do sleepwalk into college simply because they think that's what they're supposed to do.

They were told all their lives that they'd better go to college if they don't want to be flipping burgers

Then they get out of college, can't get a job in their field, and are told that they're entitled brats, and to go flip burgers, while being $70,000 in debt and having no work experience despite being in their mid 20s.

Not to mention colleges are cesspits of liberal degeneracy that indoctrinate young people with destructive anti-social ideas.

Can you get welfare If you have zero parental income (step dad takes care of my mom they aren't married) as a dependent? She doesn't even file taxes, AS a student?

I have no one to help me so I'm looking into section 8 housing (found this shit but I'm afraid it's too good to be true, might get shot in my sleep)

If I can collect welfare while I study and have pell and state grants pay my education, can't I make it to middle class with a comp sci degree?

No. The point is that there's a bigger problem.

Education for children is compulsory, we raise kids to be spoon-fed information by a teacher, and to condition them to expect to automatically graduate into the next phase of life. They do everything that the system tells them to do, and then the system fails to produce functioning members of society who can get jobs, because that system is broken.

Imagine everyone throughout your entire life has told you that this is what you're supposed to do, and then you do it and it doesn't work, then people like you turn around and say "lol why did you do that? You're an idiot"

Personally I never went to college, but that was purely out of what I now see as luck. At the time I only wanted to go to college because I hoped that I'd get to have sex. The amount of fucking lies that we get told is incredible, and I believed them, its only through luck that I didn't get sucked into the trap.

I agree with the comic, but not in the way SJWs see it.

It wasn't angry ranting and nothing was discarded. I never said things were 100% the same in cost terms as they were 30 years ago, but what can be done about it? Whining about it on the internet and being an ass does nothing to benefit anyone, so you just need to suck it up and deal with it

Frankly, a 30,000 increase in 30 years is relatively light even in constant currency and if you can't stomach a 30,000 loan to invest in your future then that's your problem.

So you work to stand out. Everyone can get a degree, but I guarantee Pajeet wont have the foresight to get some contacts and make some friends in the industry, nor will he care to do any projects for his portfolio, so he and everyone who majors in liberal arts ends up a statistic for college debt and underemployment. It's always about standing out, going the extra mile to develop some marketable skills that this job market is severely lacking.

Students are raised thinking a degree is going to magically grant them a 100k/year starting salary, nobody tells them they have to work for it. Then we have a bunch of shit-tier majors whining about "le so much work" in piss-easy courses because they think they're already doing enough and have earned the right to complain.

>>
>>25413609
Middleclass is as much a mindset as it is an income bracket. That's what these sjw gib me dats don't understand. Richards parents valued education, hard work, and held him to a higher standard than Paula's parents did. Hence why he was sent to tutoring for a B+ while Paula was congratulated. By time Paula's parents do see the value of her education it's too late. She's looking for an excuse to drop out (there are plenty of Asian parents who would order their kids to keep studying on their death beds) And for all the issues in the US education system, I can tell you from personal experience that the government will throw money at you to go to college if you are one of the following

>female
>non white
>under the poverty level
>military veteran
>over the age of 24

Paula is 3 of those 5 things. Four by the last panel. And she presumably has no kids to take care of, which is a huge bonus for her. So why the fuck is she not taking advantage of that and finishing her degree?
>>
>>25416072

does it frustrate you, buddy? It's not whining because I frankly don't care, I understand how the world works perfectly and don't complain that I might have to work harder than some silver spoon faggot because they likely take things for granted and don't put as much effort into school or their internships, while kids like me come in and work twice as hard and end up getting the jobs instead

bunch of posts above, someone posted an image showing average 4-year costs to be around 35,000 not including room and board, and around 45,000 including room and board

while this may be a significant sum of money, when looked at as an investment in your future it is an investment that will likely pay a higher ROI than any other you could possibly make

so take a loan, study a field that isn't a complete meme, and make the most of your time in uni. The fact that you are studying on borrowed money should do a lot to focus you from being a complete degenerate and partying all day and instead get the best grades you can and seek internships to maximize your employment potential upon graduation

but again, this is a lot of work and it's much easier for people to just whine on the internet about how unfair things are, so im sure you'll find ways to nitpick my post here

I think another problem is that it's far too easy to get into a uni program. They've lowered the standards so that they can make more money. And made loans easier to get, which further amplifies the issue. Additionally, a lower-performing student will have to go for more than 4 years to get their degree, so this will increase their profits and FURTHER incentivizes colleges to let in the lowest-scoring students.

Maybe we need to go back to when we only had about 10% of the population with uni degrees?

Eventually, if you're driven/smart enough, you'll get one - then it's just a case of working fucking hard to get a full offer.

generally those making in the lower 6 figures (100k-300k) are not people of extreme wealth but instead are likely small business owners or professionals such as doctors or executive positions in businesses.

These are not people that just get handed shit, business owners work their dick off and have an absurd failure rate in the early years, and people like doctors work 80+ hours a week literally making life or death decisions

To make 40k likely means you work a menial middle management job which, although soul-sucking, does not require you to "work" beyond 40 hours per week, pays overtime if you do, and you get to leave your "work" at home when you clock out for the night.

You're using my tax money to pay for social programs I support. What's wrong with that? I really don't want to jynx this since whenever I say anything to do with anything that might benefit my future, it never fucking happens. But I come from a scraping by middle class family (3 other siblings) but recently my older bro came back from uni and met up with some of his highschool buddies. Apparently one of his friends is the son of a guy high up from the bank of scotland, and through that contact has a job as a banker, already bought a Jaguar despite being only 20. My brother spoke to him asking if there's any jobs he could get me there, and he said he can get me an intern ship, see how I handle myself.

I have by no means escaped it, but I'm on my way there, and you only have two options;

1. Win the lottery
2. Work, work, work, every single day.

If you're interested in my life;
>Moved house multiple times as a kid, lived in a lot of shitty flats and bedsits

>i do, go to good secondary school

>simultaneously get my first job to bring a bit of cash home to my mum and save for uni
>gets A's
>go to top 10 uni
>work hard, get decent degree
>soon as I've handed in my dissertation, start applying for every single fulltime job going
>get a full-time temp job for shitty pay and start the day after my graduation
>work hard as fuck for a year
>get permanent part-time post, and another part time post
>work hard as fuck doing two jobs for a year
>one role get extended so I'm permanent and full time
>work hard as fuck for a year so that I become essential to the running of the department
>get email from head of department before i left for xmas this year that I can re-write my job description to something a bit more suited to my role, and that this may come with a payrise
>have done so and sent it to him

It's basically impossible.

Your only hope is saving enough money to start a business and praying that it doesn't fail and destroy you, or striking it insanely lucky and becoming some kind of celebrity author/musician/actor/media personality.

The system is rigged to ensure that almost nobody can advance beyond this point, and, equally, so that those above have to *really* fuck up to fall below it.

You're supposed to stay poor. The system can't function if the majority of the population isn't poor. You have to be saving fast to even be saving at all, too. Inflation and the rising cost of living mean all the money saved in the 2000's only goes about half as far now as it did then.

Shit, even in 2012 a trip to the grocery store cost me a little over $100. Now it almost costs me $200.

The scariest thing is, that in the lower middle class, you are never more than one bad year from being trailer trash again.

It's true that hard work and discipline, physical and mental, has its benefits and should be pursued.

But it's also true that our society is deeply fucked, we're being swallowed into an abyss of degeneracy and immorality. This country should be for the people that live here and not for a bunch of globalist kikes. This is why I'm not a libertarian.

It's extremely hard even with hard work and talent to escape the lower middle class. I'm able to save basically all my money at a $70k/yr job because I live with my parents, and even I will never achieve any notable wealth even if I invest every cent. How can someone who wants to actually start a family get ahead?

And I make $70k, that's more than most people do.

I agree with this comic, it's true, albeit I would argue that only in the USA

I live in an european country, I come from a middle to high family and I'm studying at a university alongside people from poor backgrounds who won't have any problem surpassing me, this is because uni students receive scholarships based on their family income. I, of course, don't receive any because I'm relatively wealthy.

What I like the most about this comic is how it shows how retarded SJWs are with white privilege, male privilege, thin privilege and all that shit when the only privilege that exist is money
But you have yet to see them argue "rich privilege" because they are full of themselves

Save 20%+ of your income. Looking at wikipedia, the lower-middle class is defined by someone with a gross annual income of $33k-$60k. If you save 20% each year, you'll have $6.6k-$12k.
Once you have half of your annual earnings in a bank account (emergency fund), you'll want to save up until you have over $100k, then you can consider investing, being a landlord, etc. Of course, getting 6 figures is not exactly easy when you're dirt poor, which is why you shouldn't leave all your savings in a normal savings account. Assuming you're young, you should consider investing at least half of them (excluding the emergency funds) into an index fund. On average they have an annual growth of 7%-10%. This would mean that within a decade, you would've doubled your money. This'll make it easier for you to reach 100k without having to starve.

I'm a little late, but I want everyone reading this thread to know that if you're poor, you have opportunities and resources available to help you get into school. You really shouldn't be here if you're underage b&, but hopefully this info helps someone out.

Colleges want diversity, including financial diversity. Top colleges want high achieving, low-income students to apply despite financial difficulty.

There are schools that promise to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need. Schools that do are usually competitive though. Even if you are not low income, there are also schools that vow to have students graduate with the least amount of debt possible. If you want to know more about a certain school's financial aid policy, just look them up on the Princeton Review.

Sign up for ACT/SAT fee waivers, obviously. It also helps later on by allowing you to complete common applications for free too.

There are organizations such as QuestBridge that aim to specifically assist low-income, high achieving students. If you become a QuestBridge finalist, you can apply to all their partner schools for free and pretty much be guaranteed a full ride if your get accepted.

If you want to apply to competitive schools but you can't afford to be involved in extracurriculars because you need to work, colleges are actually really understanding about that.

Anyway, my point is that being low income on top of being a good student has its advantages too.

I think you'd find that if you woke up one day and all the poor people were gone, social mobility would be awfully difficult. The rich would restratify, and you'd be at the bottom, oil shieks would be at the top, Donald Trump would be somewhere in the middle, but it would be difficult to accumulate much more wealth if not for all the wealth created by the working poor, given to the rich in the form of surplus labor.

I've never worked a real job in my life, and I owe it all to the people maximizing the value of the shares in my investments. These days I work for poor people for free. I intend to continue this as a going concern. My children will never work a job unless they want to, there would be no need. There is plenty of important work that needs to be done that nobody will pay anybody to do.

Personally I think wage slavery is degeneracy, the ultimate cuckoldry, and somehow poor people have justified it as something noble and necessary, when they should be quite upset with their parents for having given birth to them in the first place, continuing the cycle of poverty. Someone earlier in the thread talked about "real wealth" that he was going to gain through wage slavery.

Yeah, class divisions are a problem, but guys, we should get our priorities in order. We need feminism because people are divided more by gender than by class, even the author recognises it by making the lower class person a female.

Also, yes, I am implying all women are necessarily going to be in the same situation, this is due to white male privilege.

Not making sense? That's because you need to check your privilege.

Different anon but yes.
Low-end jobs also often require grueling work effort. It's not really about working "hard", it's getting to the right positions where the right kind of hard work at the right time will get you to a position where working hard will net you profits that are astronomical compared to what other people will get for working just as hard and often even harder.

It's not like successful people don't work hard, it's just that working hard on its own doesn't guarantee shit and the rich people also had mad luck and/or a boost from being born from the right womb

1) Get good grades in high school or play a sport at a high level.
2) Go to as good a college as you can get accepted to. Plenty of good schools are state schools (UCLA, Berkeley, Virginia, Michigan) and not that expensive.
3) Major in something useful.
4) Intern over the summers in your field. Work during the year to build a work history.
5) Take a job in your field right out of school even if it's for slightly less money than you're anticipating.
6) Live below your means until you're 30 and/or postpone marriage and/or kids as long as possible.

That's literally a roadmap to the upper middle class. There's nothing that you can't do here. A person of even below average intelligence can get a 3.5-3.7 in high school just by working hard. With those grades you can get into a good state school. With a good school and good grades in college you get the internship. With the internship you get into the workforce and you're on your way.

cool. i have lived below poverty most of my life and on one happy occasion was treated for starvation at a hospital for a couple months for free. my father died while i was 5 or 6 in an industrial accident and the insurance money was squeezed and taxed enough so that it barely covered childcare and rent while my mother worked two jobs. even with a bachelors in chemistry there just wasn't any jobs around other than at a food factory (packaged cookies/pastries) and at a grocery store (cashier). smallish city feeling the squeeze as the companies refused to pay for overtime and purposely scheduled people for 30 hours so they couldn't get full time benefits.

medical stuff was expensive, and while i went to school and did alright, the school was crowded without enough supplies or staff to go around.

eventually i finished high school and because of money problems (around 2005? when we tried refinancing to send me to college to supplement a few grants i got the loan turned out to be a predatory one and we nearly lost the house) i had to find work at a factory assembling appliances for $15 an hour.

now i'm trying to save up to pay off housing debts, keep people healthy and fed, and hopefully go to college, but the rising costs of, well, everything and the diminished buying power of the hourly wage and pressure from groups willing to work the same job cheaper means that i might not have a job much longer.

at nearly 60 years old my mom is still working two jobs to just keep above the waterline. i think i'll be forced into the army or something just so i won't be a burden anymore.

it's really hard to make money when you very nearly have nothing leftover to "save" or "invest" because the paltry sum left from taxes and bills and essentials has to cover any emergency expenses and can't be used to generate any money. one fine or citation or disaster and i could lose the car, we could be homeless, or worse.

I majored in accounting in college. I interned at Deloitte 2 summers.

The qualifications to be an intern at Big D were
1) Major in accounting, finance, economics, etc.
2) Have decent grades.
3) Show up.

That was it. We had like 10 interns that summer who did essentially nothing actual work related. There was so little to do that we didn't even have to do grunt stuff that much.

But that internship got me my first job, which got me my 2nd job, so on and so forth.

Engineering has internship charity shit like that also. Most banks do the same thing for finance/business majors.

You might have to go outside but you can do it. Or rather you could have done it, if you were smarter.

Their combined salaries are in the low $450 k range. They honest to God expect me to have the same ridiculous success they enjoyed, and haven't had to search for a job in over thirty years, so they have no idea how fucked the job market is.

I'm currently scrambling to finish my BA in Psych, with a minor in Spanish and Vietnamese (I live in SoCal, so being bi or tri lingual is a necessity for a job). When I get out, I will be looking at a starting salary of around $50 k a year. And that's a damn good starting salary.

AP classes and Honors classes gave 5.0 for an A, 4.7 for A-, 4.3 for a B+, 4.0 for a B, etc. You didn't even need to pass the AP exam for those classes.

So basically once you're on the honors track, you've got a 4.0 guaranteed at least since nobody gives out C's to "smart kids" in high school.

My friend Kyle who went to Brown had a weighted GPA of something absolutely ridiculous like 4.7 or something. Straight As and every class he took besides PE/first couple years of math was some kind of honors or AP.
>>
>>25425757

This is true.

I'm a high school teacher. And there's three groups of students in AP courses. Students who are desperate for the grades, and will fight you ever step of the way if you give them less than an A.

White kids, AKA "My parents will sue the school".

And the rare few students who are there to challenge themselves.

It's not worth it, honestly, to give failing grades to them.

Maybe you just live in a shitty town.

I'm not going to pretend to know the struggles of living in poverty because I don't. But as far as getting out of the lower middle class. Here is what my father did. Before him my whole family history is basically farming and only being able to survive because you can kill and eat livestock.

My father decided to work to be able to pay for college, and it took him a long time. He was 26 when he was finishing school. He realized he had to at least provide for his family while he sought out a better career so he took a shitty k-mart job. K-mart wasn't good to him, so he ditched it for a sales job. Eventually he found a department manager job at Walmart and worked up to assistant manager, he stuck with it for a while until an opportunity opened up to move up a position and he relocated, within a year he worked hard and kept applying for store manager positions throughout the US, eventually we relocated again and he's been the store manager in the same store for over 13 years and has served as the interim district manager on several occasions. It's not prestigious, but he makes six figures after his bonuses most years and owns several shares of the company.

He worked his ass off so I could have a comfortable life and I'm grateful for it, all the old farming stories make me scared that I might have lived that life too. I still raised pigs growing up, but it was a hobby and a way for me to earn money for college.

I don't know all the details of my dad's story, but I know that persistence, hard work, a desire for success and social skills are what you need to move up, and a little luck doesn't hurt either.

Not that it matters because taxing the 300k bracket is still hitting people who, while well off, aren't super well off. It's possible to work 4x harder, but 40x harder? is paying someone else to invest your existing wealth while living on interest really 400x harder? I have my doubts.

I escaped the lower middle class through academia.

My parents were working class and our lives were all fucked, we were broke, and they let me drop out the sixth grade. I became a friendless, severely fucked up hikkiNEET and menial labourer, and pretty much just played video games all the time.

When I was in my mid-late teens I had an existential crisis, when I realised that the best possible future for me was aimless hedonism and relative financial success. The rest of my life was going to be playing video games and just "passing the time," and the best I could hope for was that I would get unusually wealthy and be able to increase the ratio of time spent playing vidya to time spent working. That's it.

By then my few (and exclusively online) friends were sliding into that lifestyle permanently, but I knew one guy who was freaking out like I was. He decided that his goal was just to tip that ratio in his favour ASAP - to get rich and maximise his enjoyment of hedonism. I tried really hard to go with him, but in the end I was too terrified of the hedonic treadmill and of my life being meaningless. So I started committing every hour of every day to reading semi-chronologically through the "Western canon," with a heavy philosophical bent, and then later specialising in a certain field which would later become my major.

By the time I was 20, my avoidant and anxiety disorders were so bad that I was essentially an agoraphobic hermit. I started tackling them through self-administered exposure therapy and applied as a mature student to a shitty university the next year. I got a 4.0 and transferred to the best university in my country, finishing my BA in 2.5 years with a near 4.0. I applied for grad school at the same university and got a massive free ride scholarship. Just finished applying to several Ivy League universities for my final degree two weeks ago.

I'll finish rambling about what I think are the implications of all this in a second post.

It was basically a winning lottery ticket falling into the lap of a future deadbeat drug addict. I was willing to endure so much because, by some weird fluke, I knew already in my teens that I wanted to kill myself for this weird, abstract, unbelievably long-term goal. I just never had a social life, never took a break, and I was happier than I had ever been.

I've tried to export my experience to some of the people I know, and they just gave up after a week because they weren't interested in anything enough to keep at it. Doesn't matter whether it was academic or non-academic.

I'd say if you have a real hardcore passion, especially if it's an intellectual or academic one because that is (miraculously) marketable in our society, consider giving your life over to it. The competition in academia especially is fucking HORRIBLE. It's 99.999% rich kids with trust funds who can't even conceive of passionately committing themselves to their studies, everything is so goddamn workaday for them. They just turn it into a daycare centre and dayjob most of the time. Coming from a lower class background is a massive benefit because you're outside the system and you can see all the flaws inherent in it.

One other thing: If you have a passion, it will stagnate and you will fail unless you commit yourself to suffering for it for like ten years. This is every guy you know that has some wild dream of developing a revolutionary video game or writing a graphic novel but he never fucking does anything, and then suddenly he's too old. Go out and take your lumps IMMEDIATELY, get real experience in any way you can. An ounce of real experience, however shitty, is worth ten thousand pounds of projection about the future.

This is some real respectable shit, anon. I had a similar experience throwing myself into my passion after being on the fast track of minimum wage jobs and gaming.

To be perfectly honest, I was one of those middle class kids who went to college and didn't give a fuck about actually doing any work. Fortunately for me, when I don't care about something I'm not able to give a sufficient enough shit about it to pass. Failing out of college was what forced me to either accept being a piece of shit who does nothing with their life, or start pouring myself into something that I cared about. Now I have a masters and work in my field, getting praise daily about my dedication and skill.

I worry about my friend though. He's been a life-long academic who hasn't held a job for more than two weeks in his entire life. He's nearly 30 years old now, and finishing his second masters degree. I don't get the impression that he's at all interested in doing an actual job. He's never had to, his parents have paid his way this entire time. He's never developed that survival skill. If he doesn't get into one of the dozen or so doctoral programs he's applied to, he may end up going back to the shit NEET lifestyle that he was living after his first masters. I think it's pathetic.

It seems to me that the problems that rich people claim from being born rich are all due to their parents being assholes.

poor little you, mommy and daddy didn't love you and sissy was jumpier than a hare. have a pat on the back.

if you're going to invoke 'waah, i had it worse so your suffering is irrelevant' you can shut the fuck up because at least you weren't a slavic child sex slave.

neither was i, i had a more comfortable life than you, but i can't tolerate serious use of 'other people have worse lives so you should be happy!' there's always someone worse off. either we accept all suffering or none of it.

I can help you out. From the fact that you got fucked by a predatory loan I am going to assume your issue isn't money but how you manage it.

I am not saying your finances are not tight in your current situation, but I have noticed that people in the lower class have a tendency to work so hard they cant see when its no longer their best option.

Are you or your family currently recieiveing any government assistance?

You don't and you shouldn't. Lower and lower-middle class "people" are subhuman and need to know their place. God, when I take the train to my university, I'm surrounded by poor people and immigrants and it makes me want to puke. Take a shower once in a while, filthy animals.

My parents are middle class but it's still hard. Dad dropped out of high school in the 10th grade and he's now an industrial mechanic. Mom has a high school diploma but she is only a bank teller. They knew nothing about college and neither did I, so I got pushed into attending a bottom tier state university in the literal middle of no where. Now I have a bachelors degree and can't find white collar work despite a 3.8 GPA. no family connections because they all work shit blue collar jobs, and we all live in a rural area with no jobs anyways. Starting a masters program at a decent school near NYC in August, so I'll finally be able to escape this white nigger existence and shrug off my parent's prole/white trash behavior.

This, Jesus Christ its so obvious just for the GI Bill.

My Grandpa was from rural North Dakota and ended up making 90k/year at the end of his career in the private sector using the skills he learned in the Air Force, he didn't even go to college, he was certified by a bunch of unions though.

anyone could be rich if they had a million dollars or more to invest. you can live off the interest!

now imagine you have 10 million or 50 million! by parking money in a low-interest, safe, low-risk account, you can 'earn' more money than most americans do in a YEAR!

now isn't that something!
