Bit of a pickle, lads.
Since November I've been working back breaking shifts at a warehouse. Saved a good 2.5 grand and now it's all over. Got 2 other 0 hour contract jobs that I can go back to at any point.
But I don't want to. I just don't want to wage slave anymore.
It was terrible. They were night shifts, I didn't see sunlight for about 4 weeks and had to work through being ill, through days solid of getting home, sleeping and waking up, lucky if I had enough time to wash myself before leaving for work again.
Do you know how it feels when you open up your laptop and it's a 4chan thread from about a week ago? It's not a nice feel.
What should I do? I used to be OK with wage slaving because I'd take advantage (taking small/unrecorded things), and it gave my purposeless ass something to do. But now I have no purpose and no desire to work, so what the fuck do I do?

I went onto jobseekers as soon as I left uni and got a programming job within about 5 weeks. It was absolutely awful and I hated every moment of it. When I tried to take a holiday after a year on the job, I got fired.
After that I spent a year on jobseekers intentionally not looking for a job, but eventually I started looking again when I was told I would have to do one of those slavery programs in a few weeks.
My new job is great and I love it but that's probably a rare occurrence.

I learn any basic job in a day,within the first week I had the basics of tills down, and new people around me keep fucking up even after two solid weeks plus of work.
It's frustrating to lead all the new people by the hand when most of them fuck off to other departments when they realise how fucking deathly miserable and dull it is to work on the tills.
I can be polite though. But only when people make an effort to be polite back. I only bother to talk off-script for the people that say anything remotely new or interesting. A lot of people don't. A lot of people are awkward or rude or in a hurry, and I get that. I don't take it personally. But too many people say the same dumb old shit that grinds away at you. People that state the obvious with a shit eating grin makes me want to Smash their faces into the fucking belt. Just fucking shut up, and pack your shit and go.
Do I need people to constantly say how miserable I look each day? No. I know I look sad and bored. No shit. I am sad and bored. That's what the job does to you after 7 years. it doesn't just come off. Even when im ok or happy you can still see the sadness in my eyes. There is no novelty anymore. All there is, is mindless repetition and constant feeling of entrapment. Of course I'm going to look miserable when there's little point in trying to fake it and put effort in
