For a couple of years I lived with my dad's family, who had a border collie. Nobody walked him, and it just laid on a mat all day looking sad, so I started walking and running with it every day, and it got much happier. It was nice to make something happy by caring for it.

If you train the dog, it's fucking amazing. Some basic behavioral conditioning while it's a puppy is all it takes to make things worthwhile. And even that process only takes 2-3 weeks of consistency.
And in return for your efforts, you get a well behaved, obedient, loving companion for the next 10-15 years.
Pretty worth it in my experience.

It's great. When you're feeling down they always seem to sense it and try to make you feel better. I don't think I'll ever get a pet again though, when my dogs died it only made me miserable even if it was from old age. Maybe when I'm older and have kids I'll get them a dog, teach them to be responsible for something, to appreciate animals and, most important of all, to teach them what it means for something to die when the dog inevitably passes on.

OP owning a dog can be nice, but there are many things you need to be careful of.
I've had this problem where I have gotten into the habit of /suckingonmydogspenis/ and now he scratches on my door all day and everytime I go to the bathroom he bolts in through my legs and comes right in with me. He always has a big erection when doing these things so it's VERY embarrassing around my family and i try to make it go down just so my family doesn't suspect me as much.
I've been getting better lately, sometimes i'm able to go into the bathroom and the dog will bolt in with me, but i won't /suckonhispenis/. I just hate how me and my dog leave the bathroom at the same time and he still has a big erection, makes me feel bad.

It honestly depends on the breed.
We've had only two dogs so far.
One was a miniature poodle who would growl and snarl and snap at everyone who wasn't my mother, if not outright bite us.
Now we have a golden retriever who has never growled at anyone or any other dog, loves everyone, and only accidentally bitten us when we gave him food from our fingertips but it was never a hard bite.
Generally speaking, the smaller the dog the meaner and shittier they are. beware of old white tiny ladies walking older, whiter, tinier dogs.
