Finds you items and levels up your character. Getting to level 99 is pretty much impossible without it.
Item finding on bots also can get you some really good gear if you let it for for a long time.

Botting is pretty much a robot playing the game for you.
It's scripted to run through the maps and kill bosses and pick up items of a set rarity. You only would do it on the official blizzard servers, would be useless if you could edit your character.

you can still play it on battle.net servers but the game technically died in 2001 or whenever LoD came out, after that nobody will really give a shit about your achievements.
I have kept a once ladder javazon but now 'non-ladder' character from expiring just by logging in every now and then for 11 years.
I kept that hero because it is as close to a perfect javazon with legit grinding as i would ever get the entire time i played the game.
but yeh, you can stil play d2 but unless you have a good group of 4+ people dont expect to get any decent hell gear or get a high level without leeching from a public bot
sometimes i check the friendlist from my javazon from 2004 and its a huge list but everyone is offline, good times.
