The Fragile was/is my favorite NIN album, and easily one of my top-10 albums of all time and NIN themselves are in my top-10 favourite bands ever. Definitely robot music.
I don't even care for edgy anxiety music anymore, but Trent Reznor is just such a god damn one-man machine musical genius, and now has an azn qt wife. Definitely my hero and inspiration.

Honestly NIN is the one group from the 90s whole alternative/nu-metal scene to have aged gracefully.

I just like how, say simple Doom metal and Stoner rock/-metal/-doom are.
I like the mid to slow tempo coupled with low-tuned guitars and overall bass-y sound.
It's easy to listen, songs are not constant Malmsteen-tier technical wankery - "keep it simple stupid" to put simply.
Stoner metal/-doom especially got this sort of very primal feel, "universal", natural. It sounds very down to earth, its not some constant un-natural shredding with guitar. It just goes its own slow pace like nature, having some small details that make it interesting and not constant drag.
Hell, I even had a dream while back where I was floating in space and only sound there was, was riff of Dopesmoker song (by Sleep).
I don't know if this makes any sense at all but there you have it.

I don't think normies can ever appreciate Nirvana because they assume every song is literal and just about killing yourself. Kurt Cobain was a robot, he held every unpopular belief of his time solely because it was unpopular.
