Who here /absoluteshitjob/? Dishwasher here.
>come to work drunk to make it tolerable
>nobody cares, the dishwasher is expected to be a lowlife
>Get paid $8 an hour
>constantly bitched at by manager
>hot, sweaty, monotonous work
>hands getting fucked up from being exposed to temp extremes
>co workers don't respect me and are clearly uncomfortable around me

on the bright side, all I do is wash dishes and then mop shit. I get by because I bring a water bottle full of vodka and drink it all day.

>work in a stamping plant
>job is monotonous
>it's always either bone-chillingly cold or heat stroke-inducingly hot in there
>come home smelling like burnt metal
>noisy as fuck
>gloves they give us to protect our hands are shit and don't help
>>
>also wash dishes
>other staff are nice including managers/owners
>get paid $21 ph on sat, $26 on sun (aus dollars though)

I guess I got lucky, still physically arduous though, also remember to wear gloves to protect your hands

>working at college bookstore for 3+ years, most of it as a temp
>become part time in the winter
>last May get promoted to "specialist"
>sounds awesome
>didn't learn until too late it meant signing up to be dicked over for chump change
>store changes ownership in summer
>manager quits/gets fired
>only person in building with keys
>tasked with playing pretend manager for no extra pay
>don't know what the fuck I'm doing, nobody bothers to tell me what I need to know
>this lasts from early July to October something
>manager gets hired, old guy with 30+ years experience
>computer illiterate, relies on me to keep the store afloat
>all for $8.25/hr
Every day I show up to work only to see the building isn't burnt to a crisp is another day I die a little inside.
>>
I was going to create a thread specifically for this, but I might as well bump this one and ask you guys. I'm probably going to start working next year, so I wanted to know from other robots about how to handle this. I never did anything similar to having a job until now. I'm not even in college yet (nineteen). The job will be some sort of white-collar activity for the government. Also, if anyone's curious, the pay will be something around $666 dollars a month (exactly that actually).

>work as unpaid intern for 6 months
>boss is a cuban grad student
>working at a university design group
>have to drive 2.5-3 hours total every day
>coding websites he negotiates with the customers
>never allowed to talk to them
>I usually do most of the work, he asks for designs from me, then asks for frameworks before he finishes them
>customers come in for meeting
>realize that he's been telling them he's doing all the work
>ask for different project
>he drops UE4 on my desk and tells me to make something
>make VR teaching tool for uni med school
>market it to them
>come back about a month ago to ask for a job
>find out boss told everyone he did my work
>he got a promotion from my program I spent days slaving on unpaid, while he watched youtube videos and used tinder
>I get rejected from job for "lying" in an interview

maybe not as bad as a physically demanding job, but god damn is it demoralizing to work for free, and have your work still stolen from you

>work as a break-out guy in the bakery of an 'upper class' grocery store
>break-out is essentially me taking all the frozen bread from the back and putting it on racks to be baked later
>monotonous
>takes 6 hours on average for shit pay
>constantly get stuck doing just-as shitty jobs after
>forced to lie to our customers about the bread being 'fresh'
>forced to smile while upper-middle class white assholes complain to me about how stressful their 100k+ job is while I'm making $8 an hour
>everything I own smells like cheap bread now
>always get scheduled the shittiest hours

What's the point of a job if I feel like the money I get isn't worth the time I spend getting it? Should I just an hero? I hate working but my parents are dead and I don't have the money for college.

>white-collar job right off the bat
how?
>>
>>24829791

>had the keys and didnt run that shit into the ground

You had one job.
>>
>>24829905

>ever working for free

The government isnt going to make it illegal.
Everyone just needs to say no.
Who cares if you dont work? You weren't going to get paid in the first place.

>>24829905
You know what to do. Kill him like the dog he is.
>>
>>24829936
I don't know man, I figured small money was better than no money. I contemplate quitting every day knowing that place would crash and burn without me, but it pays the bills I guess. Rush week was the worst, the thought of nobody being able to open the day classes started (i.e. the busiest day of the semester) was hilarious.
>>
>stripper

Is pretty good job, easy and I am making money. Only real problem I deal with is drunks, but guard always takes care of bad ones. Bad thing I guess is persons being unkind about job and to me.
>>
>>24829912
get a new job, retard

jobs with tips are good as they're forced to pay you minimum wage if your tips don't add up to it with your normal rate of pay.

hotels are good for this I've been told

Tits or GTFO
Or dick. I'm not gonna make assumptions.
>>
>>24829905
Wow man how come there isn't any oversight if this is a university program? Shouldn't there be a shit-test to prove you know what you're doing

>>24829912
Family you should just join the military or worst case scenario do ROTC if you want to get the degree first. They can pay for everything if you work your ass off in school and if you study something meaningful Luke Nuke Engineering you could get a lot of very good work experience
>>
>>24830012
It does not "pay the bills"
for that amount of work. Run that place into the ground while looking for better desu
>>
>>24830031

No thank you.

notoriginal
>>
>>24830048
I am looking now but haven't gotten an offer yet, even after following up. I figured I'm gonna at least wait until I have something else accepted before I dive-bomb everything, that way I don't have to deal with any repercussions.
>>
>>24830012
Sounds like you have an excellent base to negotiate on. Here's what you do lad
>apply for other jobs that pay at LEAST 10-13$ an hr (a really good on campus job that's typically understaffed is the athletic IT department)
>see if they hire you
>if they don't, keep searching but don't let your current boss know
>if they do, use this + the fact that you leaving would kill the store as leverage for negotiating better pay with less murderhours
>if they refuse take the other job offer
>????
>>
>>24830047
it's because it's affiliated with the college very loosely
they are in a college building, and get contracts, but they have their own accounts, charge for jobs, and take jobs outside of the college

and also his boss was ridiculously busy and never came to check on what either of us were doing, so it ended up with him going to meetings all day and me coding in a chair for 8-9 hours

and about him, he knew kind of what he was doing, he was a CS Masters student who could talk his way out of anything, and our boss knew nothing about computers except basic html and css. He knew how to do a lot of web dev shit, but he was just flat out lazy.

the good news is I have a couple interviews at google, which was all that cuban fuck could ever talk about was how much he wanted to work there and how much he loved all their shit

so I guess he can have that job and my grant and work, I'm going to try to get his dream job
>>
Why not work towards a career instead of these shit jobs you fucking retards??
Finding a job if done correctly should take max one month
>>
>>24829587
I did this job for a total of three days, quit, and never got paid for thirty hours of work. Kill me , just end my life.
>>
>>24830133
That's more or less what I plan to do, I'm actually looking for something in the 40-50k salary range. As soon as I'm hired, I'm gone. No two weeks, no goodbyes, just me handing my keys in on whatever my last day is and walking out. Potentially changing the safe combo and deleting Spring course information before I leave.
