My mom actually told me once, what she would've named me if I'd been born with a roastie, and I can't remember.
It wasn't just the feminized version of my name, though, don't think there was any special meaning behind it either. I think she just thought it would've been neat. I've got seven cousins and a brother, no girls until a few years ago, and she's on the other coast. My mom probably feels stifled with too many men around, I think.
Goddamn I'm glad she found some female friends (pretty much my old HS friends' mothers, but still) to hang out with and have 'girl time' after I moved out, she's finally talking to other women regularly probably for the first time since college.

Second choice was Wendy, which I actually would have enjoyed as a name. Not as much as the name they settled on, but it's not bad.
