My ex was a bar manager, she loved drinking and going out, we had zero hobbies in common except both having a very dry sarcastic sense of humor
Sometimes personalities just fit together

My current best guess is that confidence overrides a lot of things you would expect a women to look for in bf. Despite me being average looking at best and being anti-social, I am extremely confident in myself and how I am around people.

Confidence and sociability are not important to me and I'd actually prefer my potential partner to be the opposite of "confident" and "sociable". As for financial stability, I'm financially stable myself, so it's not necessary for my partner to be financially stable.

It's not. Having a girlfriend is one of the most social things one can do, as you'd be interacting with her (being social) almost all the time, which is not something an anti-social person does voluntarily.
