we had to an experiment with partners for a chemistry class I was taking. There was an even amount of people in the class and I ended up working by myself because a group of three formed. The TA laughed at me (even though he did apologize later).

I moved there from St. Louis, where I fit in really well. Diverse (not in a buzzword way, we just all hung out and enjoyed each others peculiarities), pretty gentle (no bullying, plenty of dirt clod fights), and urban.
Moved to this tiny ass mormon town in central utah for my dad's job. Everyone had the same last name, I was not country enough to fit in. Small towns could be rough, my vocabulary and affect made me seem soft in their eyes and they set to be cruel. Real bummer.
I moved a few years later though, so all was well in the end.
