Okay r9k, It takes about 2 acres of land to grow enough food to provide a stable diet for 4. Why don't we buy some cheap land in some state where weed is legal, get some caravans to live in, solar panels, farming equipment and whatever else we need to become a self sufficient community? We need a way to earn money as being 100% localised is too hard, we need a safety net aswell as income. Selling weed, renting a couple of holiday caravans out (if the area is desirable), selling electricity back to the grid, hook up a mining rig to a solar panel, if there's animals we could sell a hunting experience. Internet connection will probably be easy to sort out. I'll be back in this thread in a few hours so hopefully it'll kick off.

>mfw this is how I'm planning to live by myself when I have saved up enough money

In my country this was pretty much the life for everyone in the 1950's, the days of the "self-households", people lived in the country, had a little property with a barn with a few cows, poultry, pigs, sheep, a greenhouse, firewood from their own forest for heating etc. Minus all the tech we have today, ofc. Those people had all that basic knowledge passed down to them tho, little details about how to make the crop grow ideally, how to hunt and slaughter an animal etc. Not that it can't be learnt tho.

Did this in somalia. Its a very unknwn area even to locals, we have turks, americans, somalis and various other nationals. Its so peaceful and the internet connection is relaye via satelitte dstv. We locals mostly run errands for alot of $ this is better done in africa or asia preferably in rural mongolia. Freedom smells great

How did you end up there? What did you eat?

No. The UN, AMISOM and IHH workers were the first ones in back in 2012, the rest were referred. The security is ok too, theres a military base 2 - 3 km away so there isnt much ruckus. Im going back there this summer,

We mostly slaughtered goats, sheeps and occasionally camels, chickens are abundant and other stuff like spices and veggies or even cornflakes are bought from downtown mogadishu. No drugs are de facto illegal and weed is grown freely, khat is brought in daily 12 am sharp. Miss those days.

Damn, sounds like an awesome experience, did you do some sort of work down there? Did you have to help out with the food/slaughter? Was the heat manageable?

Also, posting this for the benefit of the thread, click the pics for the story about him.

I don't want to move to Burgerland. Can we do it someplace else, preferably in Asia.

I'd prefer nowhere around the equatorial/tropical areas though, so many nasty insects.

>move back into to the city in 2012 for uni
>become totally disenchanted with normie society
>fuckthisshitimout.webm

how do you guys even rationalise being a part of that filth?

its no mystery to me why robots choose complete self imposed isolation

I don't think OP's dream includes living with his parents.

My friend was working at the UN hq and toldme about the idea, since i was on and off of work i jumped on it. My dads company ships solar panels and installs them so i got their order and the rest was alot of nice bros helping out with whatever they can. Fiber optic cables are being considered for the interwebs instead of dstv. Ill see. And im somali diaspora so i was more of a middleman.

As long as there isn't anything poisonous and the land is cheap I don't care. I would prefer it to be in the USA or another English speaking country. If someone bought the land and offered for people to live there for free but with different jobs like tending to farm land, general maintenance and what not would anyone be interested?
>>
>>29916779
We're not going to live in the jungles. Rural areas are mostly free of these "nasty insects".

If you are this much of a baby you will never succeed no matter where you are.

Living with parents can be comfy as hell if you have the right sort of parents. I've been living with mine for 35 years now, we've never argued about a single thing, not that I'm causing any ruckus tho, always been the quiet mind-my-own-biz type. But I still want to live by myself eventually because I like the complete quiet and being alone, so I try putting away every little pebble I can get.

In most cases with purchased homes, the parents expect their children to eventually purchase their own homes and move away.

i live on ancestral tribal land. It doesnt have the same stigma imho. also, i built my own cabin that my dad helped me to rig with solar, so im only living with my parents as far as postal addresses are concerned.

Problem: all land where I live is expensive as fucking shit (Australia) and I'm a low level wagie with no realistic hopes of finding a better job.

Its somalia based and operated. He doesent have a website though. a good referral system makes up for constant customers. But ask me any questions regarding solar panels

>How much have you saved anon?

It's pretty complicated. Since some years back I ended up putting all my money into an estate as a neighbour here died in cancer and I got the opportunity to buy it below market value. So I bought a (numbers in pound sterling, robot didn't allow the sign) 1400k estate for 900k. Out of this I have about 330k left to pay off, Beyond that I have roughly 200k on my business account and about 10k in VISA shares, about 7k is lent out and I should hopefully get it returned in october with some interest.

But, if I wanna shut down my biz I'm going to have to dish out a lot of taxes so it's hard to estimate exactly what's going to be left in the end.

>>29917063
I don't know to be honest, I know a lot of other people in this area manage to live without working on not so much, but I want a good margin as I don't want to have to pick up a job later on in life. So preferrably the interest should be enough to get me a little to live off and keep up with inflation.

Any of the northern provinces of the Philippines.

Any land as cheap as that in Tassie or NZ? Fuck heat.
>>
>>29917182
Don't do it in Australia then
>>29917077
I'm a simple man who enjoys the comfy life, I'm not well suited for this society so I wanna build my own.
>>
>>29917276
>Tassie or NZ?
No, their small size means land is at a premium.

There are some cheaper lots in Tasmania, but nothing close to the $20,000 blocks in Queensland.
>>
>>29917203

How much would something to produce a yearly 10000 kwh cost, including whatever one needs to get it out on the grid/divide into ones own consumption, cost? and how big of an area would it cover?
>>
>>29917247
I think you have more than enough to fund your own project, it would cost maybe 20g for land and 20g for accommodation, energy and food.
>>
>>29917341
Its not a matter of panels cus you can do with 10x120kw panels, but you need alot of batteries
>>
>>29916287
What do you guys do for security?
