>wake up early for once (11:00am)
>decide to go for a walk into town to buy stuff that desperately need
>enjoying my walk, haven't been out the house in like a week
>walk into the store and head over to the confectionery isle
>speaker announcement: "security, code 5 on confectionery"
>looks around to see if there is anyone shoplifting
>I am the only person on the isle
>start sweating but just think the shoplifter has already moved on...
>take my candy and head over to pick up some toothpaste & mouthwash
>speaker announcement: "security, code 5 on personal hygiene"
>I am the only guy in the isle... *sweating intensifies*
>speed walk to stationary with sweat patches growing to grab some envelopes
>speaker announcement: "security, code 5 in stationary"
>only person in stationary, confirm that I must be the "code 5" and sweat patches develop on my back
>decide that I have had enough of this stores bullshit and just put everything back since they are accusing me of being a thief
>go to walk out the door and the doors don't open since it's the entrance
>everyone is staring at me and I turn bright red
>literally speed-walk to the exit and as soon as I step outside someone grabs my backpack from behind
>"sir, you need to come back inside"
>fat roastie and old guy escort me to the back room
>sir, what happened to the items you had in your hand?
>"I p-put them b-back"
>"could you empty your backpack sir?"
>I am surprisingly calm at this point since I have nothing to hide
>"no, you've been harassing me since I first come in the store with your code 5 announcements"

>"sir, we'll have to call the police if you refuse and then we will press charges if you do have items on you, best to come clean now and you'll be on your way"
>"no, call the police"
>old guy sighs and radios for the local police to come to the store
>police arrive
>"what is the situation?"
>roastie and old guy explain the situation and then the police look at me
>"sir, could we search your backpack?"
>"s-sure"
>find nothing but a half drunk water bottle
>police tell me I am free to go and the old guy tries to escort me out to the exit
>police tell him to come back so they can speak to him
>hear the security in the store getting BTFO by the police for wasting time on force reports
>exit the back room
>all the staff are looking at me
>sweating intensifies again
>run to McDonalds to wash my face
>spend $10 on food and eat it all
>get bus home

seriously why can't people just leave me alone? am I that autistic looking that people accuse me of being a shoplifter as soon as I walk into the store?

fuck this ride, I want off.

pretty casual, I just woke up and threw on some normie looking jeans, plain t-shirt and some black vans.

my backpack was just a small-ish one where my wallet and waterbottle in it...

The backpack is what did it.

Backpack in a store automatically makes you a shoplifter. I'd have filed a report and sued them for the stress they caused you and the time wasted.

Not to mention the rep hit from being seen.
You may not be known where you live, but that makes no difference.

Not to mention he put his hands on your property. You let then get away with a ton.

Then it was the backpack

yeah it's probably a backpack unless you live in a city OP. I live in a city and always bring a backpack into stores but when I visit my parents in the suburbs it feels wrong having a backpack but I like not wasting plastic bags

You need those reusable bags that everyone has. Really there's no reason to have a backpack with those bags around. Especially in the eyes of normies.
