The curious thing is that they tend more to object to the label than to the concept. An asexual and a volcel are practically similar, just that the asexual has no motivation to have sex, while the volcel has some motivation not to have sex. Nobody is particularly bother by volcels other than "you don't know what you're missing out on, bruh!", while the asexual encounters astounding animosity.
So usually I just call myself a volcel to avoid elaborating on and defending my situation which is that I simply never developed a sexual attraction to others.

I'm aromantic. I've never been interested in women. A girl asked me out and I figured why not since it would be cool to be the first guy in my circle of nerd friends to have one. But it was such a chore, like a friend except there are expectations on you. I can't believe people put up with this. I quickly broke up with her and never looked back.
