Military thread number two: Turning Robots into Chads.

I'm joining the US Navy as a Journalist soon, I'm excited to begin work with good folks. As my process goes along, I'd like to encourage my friends here to take a similar path. Self improvement and the escape to NEEThood could be right around the corner.

Basic requirements:
>decent shape
>mentally healthy
>no criminal history
>no medicines
>willingness to change

If you meet these criteria then you can go down to your local recruiter's office and speak to them about joining. There are plenty of jobs that a robot would excel at, my job being one of them. An excerpt from my MOS description: "Most MCs work on projects alone or with small teams, normally with little supervision. Their work is primarily mental and creative."

I know the military is tough and rigorous, so many of you that aren't in the best peak physical shape should consider branches that aren't as intensive. In order from least difficult to most difficult:
1) Air Force
2) Navy
3) Army
4) Marines

Find a branch that interests you. Then search "(branch) recruiting office (your city)". You will quickly find a number of a recruiter in your area. Speak over the phone or step in the office for a no pressure meeting, look at jobs you'd like and consider starting your career. Some recruiters will give you bullshit, but most are great guys.

If you hate your current life like I do and your daily life is a sequence of stimulating pixels than I would consider this. You can become disciplined and happy, it doesn't have to be all downhill from here.

How long do you have to serve for and what happens when your time is done?

>Joining the Navy as a journalist.
>implying MC's are anywhere near Chad level
>get to sit around taking pictures of a floating grey box while hearing about how the Marines fucked your cute coworkers.

You will sign a contract for a set time. Minimum is usually 4-5 years, mine will be 5.

You'll go to basic training (8-12 weeks) then your schooling for your job (can take months, or years if you're in something like nuclear). Next you'll work at your job you chose for the remainder of your contract.

When the time is up, you can either renew your contract and work for several more years (with more pay) or you can go back to civilian life. After serving in the military you get a GI Bill, which pays for college pretty much entirely, plus housing. This means you can go work for 4 years and get in good shape, get paid - then go to college for 4 more years for free. That's common. Or you can just go get a job and be a veteran.

Calm down

>tfw you will never sail the seas
>tfw you will never leave you wheelchair

I'm not calm? I'm just giving you a dose of reality anon.
You're here preaching about something you've never been a part of yet. I'm not saying you're making the wrong choice but it's not butterflies and unicorns from here on out and just getting a paper pushing job in the military won't make you a chad.
