Military thread number two: Turning Robots into Chads.
I'm joining the US Navy as a Journalist soon, I'm excited to begin work with good folks. As my process goes along, I'd like to encourage my friends here to take a similar path. Self improvement and the escape to NEEThood could be right around the corner.
Basic requirements:
>decent shape
>mentally healthy
>no criminal history
>no medicines
>willingness to change
If you meet these criteria then you can go down to your local recruiter's office and speak to them about joining. There are plenty of jobs that a robot would excel at, my job being one of them. An excerpt from my MOS description: "Most MCs work on projects alone or with small teams, normally with little supervision. Their work is primarily mental and creative."
I know the military is tough and rigorous, so many of you that aren't in the best peak physical shape should consider branches that aren't as intensive. In order from least difficult to most difficult:
1) Air Force
2) Navy
3) Army
4) Marines
Find a branch that interests you. Then search "(branch) recruiting office (your city)". You will quickly find a number of a recruiter in your area. Speak over the phone or step in the office for a no pressure meeting, look at jobs you'd like and consider starting your career. Some recruiters will give you bullshit, but most are great guys.
If you hate your current life like I do and your daily life is a sequence of stimulating pixels than I would consider this. You can become disciplined and happy, it doesn't have to be all downhill from here.
