If you're depressed because you're not getting sex, then sure, go see a prostitute. Maybe it'll help you get over your obsession with virginity, but I can assure you that it is very underwhelming, and doesn't compare to sex with a loving partner.

If the reason you're depressed is because you're lacking a relationship, then it won't do a thing for you. You'll probably just hate yourself for barely lasting five minutes, ruining what little confidence you have.

Normies say it a lot, yeah. That's only because they don't understand what it means, really. Their perception of love is often just as broken, but from stupid rom-coms and shit.

The truth of the matter is that when you're depressed, lonely and have low self esteem it's very easy to fall in love. Compared to you they're amazing, you refuse to see their flaws. After years of being constantly rejected and told you weren't good enough, when someone starts giving you the slightest affection, you're head over heels. You don't love them, you love your idealised perception of them. Love isn't something you just fall in to, it's a choice. A choice to accept someone for exactly as they are, flaws and all. To say, you're not perfect, but you're perfect for me. But you can't do that when you don't accept yourself, because that is only indicative of having warped perceptions of yourself, from being told everyday you're not good enough or whatever the cause was.
