Is the Robot title slowly becoming like 'nerd'?
A long time ago it meant something. We were a bunch of loser virgins who came here to talk about loser virgin stuff. But now there's Women on here (a reminder that Women can't be Robots), normalfags, "cyborgs" (normalfags in denial), and a whole slew of other people who aren't us.
Everybody these days is a "robot", because it's now like a cool social trend. Like the term 'nerd'.

Twenty years ago, "nerd" wasn't a term of endearment or a badge of slightly-left-of-mainstream pop-culture trends. It was a lot more like today's "neckbeard" and "fedora" in its actual use. I'm already seeing guys ironically(?) identifying themselves as neckbeards, and I haven't seen the fedora hate-wanks in a long time either -- or at least, not to the degree they were pushed a few years ago.
And here I am sitting in my Star Wars pajama pants, with my Walmart scented candle trying to banish the taint of ballsweat from the air in my apartment. When will mainstream society see my current state as the Ubermensch it so rightfully is? Truly, I am a god among men. A supreme gentleman.

I've been here since early 2010, febuary to be exact. I've been using Wizardchan more and more over the years and occasionally going to 8ch's r9k a little as well.
I stopped visiting /r9k/ regularly long ago. Mostly stuck to /mu/ and /x/ but I did swoop by on occasion. On one of those occassions I bumped into this thread and I've been coming back every 2 days more or less to see if the followup's been posted.

No. It's always been a derogatory term until people saw it on Hollywood films and wanted to feel special, so they started calling themselves it because it's just a cool thing to do.
People talk a lot about Mr. Robot here, and how the main character, Elliot, isn't a real "robot" according to /r9k/.
Whatever Elliot is, though, I have a lot in common with him. A LOT. Much more than I have in common with robots. I'm not going to ask you what I am according to /r9k/ classifications, but I do like posting here, because I feel that robots and whatever the fuck I am do have some things in common that normal people don't.

Originally, Mr. Robot depicts pretty well what a robot would be like. Emotionally dead, just doesn't go along well with humans, always living through a predetermined pattern, all like its namesake implies.
There's not even any logic to calling said manchildren robots. Because they post on the "robot9000" board? There's just one robot, and that's the filter. If they still want to call themselves robots, they are just as bad as the thing they claim to hate; the "normies". "Normies" are, in fact, the only type of person who cares about personal labels and convincing others that they are, in fact, part of this label.
