Generally a lot of people are in favour of legalisation for various reasons, but even those who want it legalised scorn it.
If you pay for sex with an independent escort of her own free will, there is nothing possible in that scenario to look down upon, yet people still do it.

You produce something to get money, the other party produces something that you give them that money for, then when you need more money, you produce something again, leaving whoever you produced something for with a deficit in money, who then needs to produce more to have that lost money replaced. Money is a vehicle for production because every time it passes from one person's hands to another they created or did something that warranted it. That's why there are things that are constantly being manufactured and produced.
Half the population has vaginas, and the other half of the population is willing to pay a lot more than the act really warrants for it. Nothing is made and nothing is consumed, and because it's an inborn addiction, if it were celebrated, people would be more apt to prioritize it over other things.
