My external hard drive won't connect for some reason. when i plug it in i can hear it start up but for whatever reason my laptop won't recognize it. i have almost 1000gb of pron on there! help!!

are you sure it's plugged in all the way on both ends? does your usb port recognize other drives? have you tried other usb ports on your laptop?

yes, i know its plugged in fully bc the hard drive doesnt start up until i plug it into the laptop. it just never recognizes. i tried all 3 ports and i have a wireless mouse that uses a usb and that works fine in the other ports
