Good Morning /qst/ it's time for another Culture Evo!

The world has been blown all to hell and the nuclear dark ages sure has taken a massive toll on just how much man kind remembers about itself. Let's meet three isolated tribes centered around this glorious hell hole and see just how well they're handling things.

Remember, three players to a tribe at any time.

Here's some Gameplay Rules while I introduce the tribes:
-Every turn OP will ask for the actions of your civ, you can preform two tasks, those of which can either be a cultural development, an action to be preformed by your people, or a new technological breakthrough. You cannot choose the same option twice in the same turn.

-Every turn is an in-game year.

-Your max population is equal to your food count.

-Your population grows by +1 every turn for every 10 people in your village.

These are The Skull Hunters
it's hard to say rather they've given in to the apocalyptic lifestyle or they've simply adapted better than others, but this band of mutant hating head hunters have taken up camp in a set of pre-war rent cabins and have been feeding themselves out of mutant animals in the forest nearby.
>>
>>94056
This is The Starlight Clan
They live in a bunch of trailers out by North lake and have a habit of branding themselves so they'll ascend into the heavens and become stars when they die. They feed themselves off of what they can grow by the lake, and that usually ends out being mutant corn.
>>
Goon...
>>
>>94086
And here's our Abbey Dwellers.
They've been sitting around their giant abbey for a long time now, and just never seemed too intent on leaving out of the place. They have this belief that the world they live in is all dead because god died during the bombs. luckily for us though, he arose again in his more undead state and lets us live on, albeit in a much less luxurious way. They eat what desert fruits they can grow in their little fenced off gardens.
>>
>>94056
>>94086
>>94123

That's the clans. Now we sit a while and wait for lurkers to claim hold, and get this ball rolling the old fashioned way.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

So how about for tech we divert water from the lake near us for agriculture and for culture we say that plants that are most resistant to radiation are the best because they've been reborn like god?
>>
Culture the bones of mutants get turned to armour for the tribe with the chief having the most armour. For tech start turning the remnants of cars into a junkier but working car think mad max tier of junk cars.

Yes. It all makes sense my fellow believer of the divine Rot God! To transport the waters of life with our array of technological stride, we can create food in Gods image! Wonderful breakthrough I must say. Yet, we also must fortify our fair Ark of the future. For there are people, no, not people. HERETICS! Who want to threaten our way of life.

The Skull Hunters decided to star making use of all those mutant bones.
Warriors have started wearing them to both protect themselves and show off the many kills they've obtained.
Of course the chief has the biggest and best armor, just as he should as to let everyone know who is the best mutant killer around.

In more tech news, they've started dragging cars back to their cabins and have been all too busy trying to make them work again. It's come to the minds of some clansmen that even if they can get these working, they'll need a fuel of some sort to run them.

The Abbot has declared the plants most resistant to radiation are the best for The Abbey Dwellers, and will keep them away from the evil of the clicking demons. There has been a collection of turnips found while digging irrigation trenches that seem to grow very close to the demon infested lake. Surely these plants would be pure if grown away from the savagery of hell waters.

>>

So for what we waiting?
>>
For action we clear out and occupy a gas station for its supplys and fuel. As for tech we begin herding the least mutated animals for food and hides.
>>
>>94540
Everyone gets two actions each turn.
The other Starlighter used an exploration action to look for food.
>>
>>94551
So we still have one action to use?
>>
>>94558
Yeah
It can be tech or culture.
>>
>>94564
Find some blue dye + we have now blue flags with our symbol in the middle.
>>
>>94465
Right!
The Starlight Clan seeks out a better food source to supplement the lack of good harvests from their corn stocks.

They didn't have to go too far though to find out their lake had a selection of fish that didn't seem too tainted by radiation to eat once cooked. There must have been many shooting stars that night for such luck.

In other news they've started to seek out blue dyes and have been fortunate enough to scrounge up a scavenged mix of ancient food dyes and ground up paint chippings to form a vat good enough for dipping in. Symbolized flags have been put into proper production.

Surely The Star Brothers will like the blue.

The Abbot has declared The abbey is in need of further protection from the ravishes of the earthly hell.

A wall has been ordered to be constructed among the sandy foundations of the abbey, but a lack of solid masonry resource has left the wall being constructed out of what the abbey goers could manage. It's certainly a wall, about six feet in height, but the whole of it is constructed out of a mic of packed earth and fitted stones. It could always be improved.

An old gas station has been found, and even some canisters of gasoline have been scouted out in the back. It's certainly not enough to last too long, attempts to see if the pumps still function have came up empty as it seems this has been bled severely dry since the bombs.

Regardless Bo's Pitt Stop is still a nice little shop, no matter how barren it may be.

In other news some animals have been captured, though they seem to lack any real pens to be kept in. So far they've taken in what seems to have once been squirrels, but are now the size of rather mangy dogs and have lost their tree climbing capabilities. They've had to be stored in Richard's cabin until they can keep them and raise them as food.

He doesn't seem pleased.

Starlight has been taking its time, now well fed and ever growing, to take some of the scrap metal laying about the trailer park and flatten it into blades to act as fine machetes. Everyone seems to be elated that they're sporting something greater than clubs and kitchen knives.

A tradition of fighting and training as arisen with these new weapons of war, and The Starlight Clan is determined to ascend to the stars with as much skill and know how to protect the heavens as they could ever need.

Yes. We certainly have walls. But they MUST be improved. We shall send the followers of our Lord to Quarry our Earths stone, and Improve our fortification of this fair land who's land is secure from Sin. But for now, we must advance, for simple stone spears and axes shall not do in the longest of runs. So I decide to, as of today, put our brightest minds into advancing our people, and scavengers to recruit members to the Church, and find schematics for greatly advanced technological stride.

Just gonna post turns as I get 'em done.

The dwellers went out of those patchy walls to look out into the world, and just beyond the sands of their desert home... they found not much.

Though something of interest of course did happen while out in the dead world, they found living people! Truly amazing. They were individuals that dragged with them heavy blades and were marked along their heads with symbols of six pointed symbols. The speech between clans was short, as it became apparent rather fast that these people were not aware of The Rotting God, and more so they looked well versed in those barbarian swords of theirs to match any pointed sticks that the blessed holy kind might be carrying.

Father Leos has voiced his concerns for the well being of his scouting party. The stress marks on his bald head grow deeper every day, let us hope a clicking demon hasn't cursed him with an anxious spirit.

In other news the likes of a quarry had been dug outside the walls, for attempting to make one inside wound take far too much land. A steady working of sandstone has made its way up from the depths, and blocks are being stacked in preparation for wall reinforcement.

The chief has decided that it's time a new kind of weapon made its way out so the clan didn't have to depend so much on chasing down animals. It's pretty hard to hack down mutants with just your club and fists after all.

A few of the egg heads have managed to bump brains enough to get a kind of pipe thrower running out of some twine and bendy metals hooked onto the narrow end of a trailer hitch. It was deemed genius by some of the clan, and shit by others, as it's been debated rather kills earned through shooting mutants are the same as kills earned by beating them down.

A few rather traditionalist Skullers have started asking the chief about this very dilemma, claiming they fear being lead by a pansy that's good with a bolt shooter rather than a real warrior.

A pen has been made for The Squirrel Hounds, and they seem pretty docile after spending a few months in Richard's house. He hates his new job of course, and has been often bitching about why he has to be the one to look after a bunch of chittering leg biters, but often he gets pretty made fun of by the warriors, and is generally ignored when he voices his complaints.
>>
>>95553
The Clan wanted to blow things up this time around. They knew of old stories that told all about what kind of destructive power popping stick had. The only downside though is that there is no gunpowder to speak of in the trailer park. What there is though is a short handed supply of alcohol that's been sitting around in some of those pre-bomb chests that decorate the homes. It didn't take long before people were settling on throwing flaming rags and nearly catching the forest on fire in the process.

As for the explorers that went searching out, they did find some people. They wore brown sacks and had no sign of stars. It's sad to say they must not have known that you need a star brand to ascend to the heavens after death. The groups parted ways after talking a bit about stars and some sort of person in the sky who died and came back, but anyone who's smart knows that shooting stars don't actually hit the ground when they fly. That would be silly.

Scout Dregg has been talking bad on the outsiders ever since he got back, often calling them weak and not worthy of joining their brothers in the stars anyway. Dregg is a moderately good fighter, so some can see his point of view, but those who deem themselves the best warriors in the clan don't seem to pay him any mind.

The Abbey Dwellers were not lucky this time. They were far too late as the bellowing clouds of ash plumed up from the building they had spotted just beyond the hill. At first it was hoped that there would be some form of settlement or lost sheep that were in need of rejoining their flock, but as they drew closer it became apparent that this was far too much smoke for any solitary campfire.

It was ash, the whole lot of what had once been little more than a pet store burning around them as the only trace left that there were ever people worth saving here had been a single body. Now it was slashed apart, and cast along the burning relics of a people that had once known this place as home.

The scouts returned, disheartened, and afraid.

With the evils of the outside world expressed through the words of those few scouts who saw it for themselves, the wall was built in less than a month following soon after. The sheets of sandstone now stood strong against whatever may have overtaken the people of the pet store, and in times like this even Father Leon managed to relax if only for a moment or two to enjoy the squeezing of a blessed jungle fruit.

He quietly advises stronger military efforts to The Abbot in hushed tones as to not betray that he too is worrying of rather the power of the lord can fend the acts of barbarians that hold such ferocity against the outside world.

I support a new verse in Scripture! Radiation has corrupted the survivors outside as punishment for damaging the Rotting God, and thus have become savages!

To protect ourselves, we must begin training all Civilians!
>>
Also so next we should like work with our god to filter out the demons from the water next to us. Our defense is good, but we need some form of weapons. I vote we go searching for demonic items of sin that we can lock away or use to smite our enemies. Also let us devote a faction of our order to protecting us
>>
>>96063
Dear Lord. What these people have seen of the outside world. We must protect ourselves from and become truely Isolated. As of today. Build Sandstone fortifications around the Quarry, and start to pack our un used roofs with gardens to feed ourselves. To increase security. Scouts are to only get schematics and advanced weaponry. All Members of our Church shall be trained to the best of ability. So veryone may aid in defense of the people.
>>
>>96134
abbot i dont wish to be disrespectful, but the outside world is trash without the word of god! We need to help these heathens to understand! We also have been protected by god for so long that we have forgotten war! We need weapons to defend, walls only delay the enivitabble without weapons
>>
also we're the furthest away from other unknown tribes. We should be looking to expand to the other sources of water! We could hep people in need defend themselves from savages who want nothing but blood and power. It looks like the ones who have been most corrupted by radiation want blood and have become..mutants and raiders....everyone else is human and like most humans have sin. By partaking in our bountiful healing fruit we can fix them!
>>
>>96063
It was a successful day in the field!
The war band came marching out into the wastes with all the determination to find and take with all their might. These people needed to be saved, needed to be conquered into a grand empire! It was only when they came to the likes of a pet store that they found what they were looking for. A few had set up station there, claiming they were dog men and more often than not barking at each in an attempt at communication. Surely they must have been crazed.

They lived off of what seemed to be dog food and water from The Great Radiation Lake, which had waters that cast green with their toxin. They were easy to find, but not easy to break, as it seemed they were very territorial, and almost immediately became hostile upon greeting. it was only when the first wolfman had tried to strike at a Starlighter that they were beaten down by a slashing of machetes, and soon the rest were hunted down and slapped in bindings to be hoisted off back to the trailer park.

Dreggs has declared himself a captain of the front squad and started to go about claiming that he was the one that killed the single wolfman. He is becoming prideful, and ever excited to retell the story of conquest to the younger Starligters.

A few of the more religious have started to speak up in question of rather slaves should be branded with stars as well, or if slaves are worthy to join the star brothers.

once the slaves came to the park though it became apparent that there was not enough food to serve both them and the Starlighters.

If they are not fed by next turn they will start to die off from malnutrition.

We should make our new slaves dig an irrigation canal so we can grow crops inland. That way we'll be able to grow more crops and sustain a bigger population, we could offer them to live as free people of the starlight clan if they succeed.
>>
>>95683
>>96297
Only boys who've rigged together a full set of armor get the bolt throwers. This makes it so if one becomes boss, he's not a worthless pussy, while still letting us shoot slugs at the bigger muties.
>>
>>96377
im all for defending ourselves, but we have vast stretches of territory that are unclaimed. The tribes to the north will squabble with each other, and unless we gain power we wont get anywhere. We have the lowest population and not much food. I agree with expanding gardens, but we should also set out outposts for scavenging for schematics and scrap to create and build. Also "man does not live on bread alone". Well die of malnutrition without something else than turnips and fruit. There is a lake southwest and directly north of us with clean water. The west one is massive and could be used for supporting crops. There is also a road for quick travel. I am willing to concede that we need to protect against barbarians as well as record the legend of our rotting lord, but we cant just sit behind these walls waiting for our doom

Fine. As the Abbey's priest, I say that we must claim land for the Abbey to secure a freshwater source. This will allow us to begin watering the planned gardens and allow are people to have drink in abundance.

However, Scripture is of the utmost importance. Others to the North will seek to exploit the Rotting Gods disciples, so we must prepare ourselves for battle.

Build bigger farms of mutated corn (with irrigation), send women and slaves to work on the field. Delegate some warriors to keep an eye on slaves.

The boys have come to another gas station along the southern most road. It was far easier to travel such a distance this time due to the cars, but there was a bit of difficulty getting the machines to cooperate because it was in fact the first time any of these clansmen had even driven a car in the first place. The Station itself seemed small, probably a family owned place at one point, though that may have been the very reason there was still gas in the pumps at all. The boys were excited to start pumping up any containers they had, and after they had filled up what canisters they could and filled up the car they drove back to the cabins to tell about their little trip. Many of them bragged about getting to drive, as it seems it's starting to hold a lot of honor to be operating such machines.

The gas station was milked dry after a few trips to being it all back home, and with moderate supervision and rationing what The Skulls have should last them a fair while.

The Warriors were pleased with the outcome of The Chief's decision about Bolt Throwers. It seemed only natural that they would be the ones allowed to kill at a distance since they could already do it so well up close.

There was smoke on the other side of The Rad River at one point, but nobody was dumb enough to try and swim crossed. The last person that tried died out before they even touched the other side.

Richard said something about building a bridge, from his place by the squirrel pens, but nobody seemed all too interested in what The Squirrel Boy had to bitch about today.

yo I know light green is rad and blue is clean water, but what is yellow, brown, grey, and dark green?
>>
>>97100
Dark Green are forests, brown is dirt wasteland, yellow is sand wasteland, and grey is mountainous.
>>
>>97111
What small squad tactics tech giving my clan?
>>
>>97117
Tactics is for attacking and raiding.
Attacks can have a maximum of 10 attackers, but every level of tactics and organization above that lets you send 5 more without suffering disorganization negatives.
>>
I suggest for tech we start melting down scrap to provide clubs mades of solid metal so they will last longer and hurt more. For action I suggest the boys look in the city for for goverment buildings to loot for weapons and information about the apocalypse.
>>
>>97139
So with this tech they are better in fighting and i can send 15 attackers instead of 10, because normally is 10?
>>
>>97111
thx senpai
>>
>>97153
Bone bro, I'm thinking we should focus our actions on culture advancements having to do with the cars, since our boys like them so much.

>Cars are inhabited by spirits

>Only designated drivers are allowed to operate and care for cars, this being a position of great honor and responsibility within the tribe

>>97139
Also, OP, is it two actions for the whole civ or two actions for each player?
>>
>>97164
They're better at organized fighting.
The thing is that anyone can send any amount of clansmen to any battle, but if they go over their organization threshold (That's the stat that's usually 10) they only do half damage.
>>
>>97176
Two actions per civ.
>>
>>97176
Lets do that then we could use a bit of culture, not like we have to worry about anything when we have ballistas.

1.colonize nearby water souce close to us and create outpost. Send scavengers to collect schematics and crops,

2.create scripture to explain of our deeds against mutants and barbarians/create scripture that makes part of our order a army/defensive branch

The hardened work was well worth the moderate boost in food. There was enough corn to go around so long as you were a Starlighter. Unfortunately for the slaves there was simply too many of them to sustain through the year and four managed to die off in the night, leaving the remaining four to act as proper farmers along side the working women.

The men on the other hand were working in producing new age flattened metals of all shapes and sizes, the likes of which were being used all about the farms and helping the harvest come in earlier than usual.

There was an attempted escape by one of the slave girls one morning, having tried to bound away from the farms mid labor, but luckily she was caught before she vanished into the forest. Some around the camp are talking about how the slaves simply being allowed to walk around with the true Starlighters is disconcerting as they're not very comfortable with anyone who doesn't have a proper star branded to their head.

Dregg tried to assure everyone that slaves were all ignorant and needed to be taken care of or else they would die out in the open. Though a lot of people seem to agree that the captured wolf people aren't that advanced, or even that human acting, possibly a few slave pens would do some good for The Starligfhters if only to keep the barking weirdos away from the proper people.
>>
>>97495
Winged, how does this sound for a cultural trait?
>In order to boost productivity, slaves who excell in their jobs earn a chance to be branded as part of the starlight clan.
>>
>>97196
We need to change rules for slaves...

Starlight Clan actions for turn 6:

Culture action: Slavery
Anyone outside its ranks is considered to be Dissolute (lacking in morals).Freshly caught humans are called Captures and are considered the lowest of the low.... \/ rest is here

The field of auto mechanics has been growing feverishly since the drivers had their first taste of real road. Some of the drivers have taken to claiming favorites, some even becoming violent to other Skullers over the sake of keeping their vehicle maintained and pure. It's because of this devotion that the cars are maintained well and their drivers are known for being able to fix any known problem that arises, though every driver has their own way of going about doing it of course rather that be praying to the car, bleeding themselves on it, fasting in its trunk, or decorating it in bones the same way they would armor themselves.

The Driver Class is considered one of the most honorable positions in the clan right behind warrior and chief. One specific driver only known as Headlight has voiced the wants and desires of The Driver Class like some sort of zealot, claiming that they need paint to appease the cars and make them look beautiful like they did before the bombs.

The Abbey has been in a fluster since the events of last year, and through all the tenseness the need for self sufficiency has rang true through all the many declarations made by The Abbot and the council before him. the Scripture has been reopened, and work has began on the likes of a new testament, one that tells of life in the new post-bomb age.

It has been declared as the year 0 AR:
After Resurrection

Spirits have been getting higher at the news that the events before them will be the ones written down in the third telling of The Lord's Book, and it's through this excitement that the southernmost point of The Holy Oasis has been claimed as a minor church in the name of The Lord, and has been hard at work delivering out pure water, untainted by the likes of clicking demons that plague the northern waters.

Life in the hellscape has been getting better for The Abbey, even as it seems that just beyond those walls things have been in a steady decline. Initiate Harris, the boy that walks pure water back and forth between The Abbey to South Saint Church, has claimed that it's been the blessings of a merciful lord that's cast a protective shadow upon the sands. He hopes it shall stay that way for many years to come.
>>
I suggest that we take up fishing to increase our food supply. Afterwards send out a scavengeing party with a ballista attached to the back of the car into the biggest city nearby.
>>
>>97888
Glorious! Our next move will to be begin building minor defenses around the minor defenses around the small settlement .

We shall research technology to begin building the Sky Gardens, which will become the source of all our food! (Build gardens on rooftops)
>>
>>97888
We are reaching a golden era of enlightenment my people! And with it. Must come a Renaissance of technological advancement, to improve the Churches strength and deter the bone clad ghosts and Heretics to the Northern lands. No matter what it takes. Our bright minds shall research improved agriculture to keep up with the demands we have. And send our voracious scavengers to locate fine technologies and their schematics as to become way more powerful than we had before Satan struck the Earth.

The Drivers need paint, and lots of it. I suggest we focus on that above all else in the city, and then start building that bridge squirrel boy brought up, so we can go check out that smoke next turn. The Rad River is so toxic I don't think we'll be able to get anything edible out of it, but maybe poisons.

>>97999
Yeah.
>>
>>98089
We could probably find some paint if we scavenge but im not sure about the bridge since we wont get much out of it when we can go around and it might collapse with the cars on it as we dont have many tools or strong materials for it, that and the lake is huge.
>>
>>98226
Well the black dots are cities.
If you bridged it you'd be right next to one.

if we find mutated corn, beans/turnips, and squash, we can make the three sister crops which in a sandy area like ours can be helpful, also we should find a pack animal, like brahmin, that feed off plants like leaves so we can give them stuff we can't eat, then we can get milk, leather, and meat from that animal as well as use it for stuff
>>
>>97999
I think a Ceasar's Legion type social structure wouldn't really work with us, considering our small size.
If we incorporate slaves as a Mameluke type caste, instead of one that discriminates between the ones that are good in the fields and the ones that arent, disposing the latter, we wont prosper as much as we could,
Distillers are a must IMO, we could later sell them if a trading opportunity arises
>>
>>99331
By later selling them I meant selling the alcohol, not the destillers.

Irrigation canals are usually a single big one, that moisturizes the land around it (Sometimes it can be branched over).
Having that many canals would flood and murder all the crops
