Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.
They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.
You... are not one of them. You are a transfer student. There was a bit of a mix-up.

You held a barbecue on campus, and got to know some of your classmates better. An elderly lady gave you an old silver brooch.
You are awoken by a loud crash and banging sounds. You rise from your place on the bottom bunk, tired and very annoyed. Apparently it's impossible to ever get a good night's sleep in this dump. As you hop out of bed and make your way to the hallway, you wonder what the source of the racket is.
Nanami is currently converting the lounge into a siege area... Rini is beating up one of the front rowers... maybe Reiji snapped and started to kill everyone? Or maybe...
"Sayeka's mine, you hear me?"
Of course. Akio and Seishiro, the two most competitive and obnoxious boys in class, are fighting over who gets to be with the class idol, Sayeka. These two never shut up, do they?
"Oh please," Akio boasts, "All this time, Sayeka's only ever had eyes for me, and I've only had eyes for her!"
"You were making out with Chihiro just yesterday!" Seishiro yells back, throwing a punch.
Akio dodges and shrugs. "So? It doesn't make my love any less true!" he fires back with a punch of his own, landing square in Seishiro's jaw. Seishiro flies back, falling onto a wooden chair. The chairs legs give out, and splinters start flying everywhere.
These two are making a real mess of the lounge, and they aren't showing signs of stopping anytime soon.

"Are you kidding?" Akio shouts, "The new kid is going to tell us how Sayeka feels? What do you know about women. I bet you've never even kissed a girl! Of course Sayeka likes one of us!"
You shake your head. "Really? Have either of you asked her before?"
Seishiro laughs. "Why would we do that? That's so stupid!"
Akio crosses his arms. "You know Seishiro, there's only one way to settle this."
"And what's that?"
Akio throws a fist into the air triumphantly. "A contest of champions! Whoever can kill the most Darkworlders tonight wins the hand of the lovely lady Sayeka!"
Seishiro pauses and picks himself off the ground. "That... is an excellent idea! You're on!"
The two men shake hands and begin to stare each-other down in a dramatic stand-off. Oh, brother.

You march over to the door of Sayeka's dormroom. You knock a few times before the door swings open, with Chihiro on the other side.
Seeing you, she laughs and winks. "Oh Ryoji, how forward of you to come knocking on my door like this."
You sigh. "Buzz off, I'm here for Sayeka."
"Oh, ever the romantic I see."
Sayeka approaches the door, sleepily. "Stop messing around, Chihiro. What is it, Ryoji?"
"The reason those two knuckleheads are keeping everyone awake is because they're fighting over you."
Sayeka frowns. "Oh... not again."
She follows you to the dorm lounge where Akio and Seishiro are back to throwing fists at each-other. As soon as they see Sayeka, the rush to be at her side.
"Sayeka!" Akio exclaims. "Seishiro and I have devised a plan! We will compete in a Darkworlder slaying contest to see who is most fit to be your boyfriend!"
"You... what?" Sayeka glances around the room, nervously. "I guess that's very... flattering?"
Damn, you had hoped she'd tell them off, but she's too damn nice. She's clearly trying not to offend either of them.

Akio and Seishiro glare at you, while Sayeka stumbles backwards. "W-wha? Why would you ask me that?"
"It's better than letting these two carry on, keeping people up and probably getting themselves killed tonight!" you reply.
Sayeka looks at her two potential suitors, and begins to mumble out a half-baked answer. "Well... I... you're both... very... nice..."
Before Sayeka can get out that very important "But", Akio jumps in, "Then it's settled! Our contest shall determine who deserves to take you out! Seishiro, let's train!"
Seishiro throws a fist in the air as the two march out of the dorm.
Sayeka sighs. "Oh Ryoji, why did you have to say that?"
You cross your arms. "Don't pin this on me! I get that you have to be super-nice to everyone all the time, but look where leading those two on have gotten us!"
Sayeka shakes her head. "You don't understand, Ryoji. It's not just being nice. Those two are very aggressive, competitive, and mean spirited... but If they believe that I'm interested in them, then they'll listen to my suggestions. This way, I can ask them not to pick on any of the other students..."

She then places her hand against your cheek and strokes your face with care. "I know how frustrated this must make you Ryoji, and I'm very sorry. I just hope you can understand."
With that, she makes her way out of the dorm, likely to follow the two goofballs before they hurt themselves. Damn, why does she have to be so sweet all the time? Makes it a lot harder to be mad at her.
You look around the dorm lounge. It's a complete mess, and you sure as hell aren't going to be the guy who has to clean this up. Maybe it's time to duck out of the dorm for now, find something to do during the day.

It's been a while since you've ever intentionally exercised, so why not? After all, it would be good to work those running muscles for when you're next in the Darkworld. And with most people still in their rooms this early in the morning, you can probably get some peace and quiet.
You step outside of the dorm and find that it's a foggy day. You can taste the moisture in the air as you begin to stretch out your muscles and get to moving. You jog on down to the school track in a nice quiet atmosphere, no other students to bump into or disturb you. Once you arrive on the track, you begin to make out a faint figure through the fog. It seems you aren't the only one with the idea of a morning jog. As the figure gets closer as they round the bend of the track, you can see it's one of your classmates, a blonde girl in a green tracksuit, bounding ahead with a stern look on her face. The beads of sweat tell you that she's been running for a while.

It's not really a plothole because our superregen isn't based on biology but bullshit hellmagic crap.
Our QM can decide its impact on alcohol, drugs and stamina however the hell he wants to, because handwaving it away as only activating when we're actually "wounded" is pretty trivial.

You move onto the track and begin to match the girl's pace, keeping to her left. She turns her head and notices you beside her. You give a smirking nod, and she shakes her head before speeding up, bursting into the lead. You try to match her pace again, but she's moving at way too fast a speed for you. You resort to breaking into a sprint in a vain attempt to look good, but as you begin to close the distance, she shifts gears once more with little effort.
You notice that you aren't running out of breath, even though you jogged all the way here from the dorms. Probably a side effect of your strange durability. You could probably run for a much longer period now than you ever could before without getting too exhausted. Still, no matter how long you can go on for, you simply can't run as fast as she can. Even as she disappears into the fog you keep up your sprint, refusing to give up. You keep running, until you hear a voice.
"On your left."
You turn your head to see the blonde running past you once more. You've got to be kidding, she overtook you?
You stop in your tracks, knowing when to call it quits. Still, you can't help but appreciate the fine figure she cuts when she runs...
"What are you doing?" a voice startles you.
You turn your head to see a blue haired girl standing to your right munching away on a candy bar. You scramble to explain yourself.
"Me? Well, I was just-"
"You were staring at Rei's ass, weren't you?"

The girl stares at you as she bites off another piece of her candy bar and swallowing it. "All the boys stare at Rei like that. She's not interested."
You smirk. "That doesn't answer my question. You jealous?"
The girl again doesn't answer, but instead takes another bites of candy. "Your name is Ryoji, isn't it. I'm Akira."
"Isn't that a boy's name?" you ask.
She shakes her head. "No."
Rei makes another two laps around the track before she notices the two of you talking. She stops and approaches you. "Akira, who is this boy?"
"He's in our class."
Rei squints her eyes at you, panting heavily. "And... why are you letting him get in the way of training? Come on Akira, it's a designated night. We have to remain in peak physical condition at all times. Wait..."
She examines you closely. "You're the new student, aren't you? The one who can't fight Darkworlders?"
You sigh. "Yeah... that's me."
Rei shakes her head. "Ridiculous."
"What?"
"You not fighting Darkworlders. It's ridiculous. If you ask me, you just aren't trying hard enough."
Akira takes a bite of candy before speaking. "Rei, I think it's more than that. He doesn't have any powers."
Rei growls aggressively. "What an excuse. A rigorous training session would fix that right away. If he's up for the challenge."

might as well give it a shot, also maybe tell her what few advantages we do have i.e being able to take a hit and regenerate plus high endurance.
Just think about it, we can't get tired. We can't get hurt, can't pull a muscle, even if we can't fight the Monsters, we can work out more than anyone else alive, sure we don't have super-strength, but we can get -hella- fit, never have to take a break from working out, get actually in-shape and attractive to the ladies. No. Getting. Tired.

Rei gives a sharp exhale from her nose. "Then you're not as much a coward as I thought. Let's go."
"Wait, right now?" you ask, confused as Rei throws up her fists in a fighting stance. "Don't you want to wait a moment to catch you brea-"
Before you can finish, a powerful right fist flies into your face, hitting you square in the nose. You stumble backwards, and begin to rub the hurt area. If only your healing ability came with the benefit of not feeling pain.
"Okay, I guess we're doing this now." You throw your fists up. "But I should warn you, I'm a lot tougher than you would-"
In a blur of motion, Rei charges up to you, grabs you, and tosses you over her hip, Judo-style. Your back meets the hard floor of the running track with a crack. Ouch.
Rei allows you to pick yourself up off the ground before she starts swinging with punches once again. She's lightning quick, and every strike meets it's target... the target being your nose. She's already drawn blood, and is seriously beginning to piss you off. You charge at her, but she takes you down again, this time positioning her leg so that she is straddled atop you, using her hands to pin you down so you can't move.
"Escape," she says, challenging you. "If your such a tough guy, break free. Impress me."
You find it hard to focus with her on top of you like this, especially with her hips pressing against you, so close to your...
Think pure thoughts, Ryoji.
You struggle, but Rei has you pinned down tight.
"Okay, I give," you admit, but she refuses to let go. "You can let me out now."
"Not until you break free," Rei sates, hanging over you, the moisture of her breath meeting your face in the cold air.
Still grounded, you turn your head to Akira. "Are you going to do something about this?"
Akira looks at you, pulls a chocolate bar out of her pocket, and gets to eating.
"Come on, break free." Rei taunts you. "I can wait here all day."
Looks like you're going to have to think of something, and you can't overpower her...

I kind of get the feeling people in here tend to overlook that, while the other students don't have nearly as many overt panic attacks, they've still been in this deathcamp for considerably longer than Ryoji and have experienced all kinds of horrible shit they have to somehow cope with.
Those two douches from the morning aren't going to suddenly stop being douches, because being major assholes that don't give a shit about other people is what they do to stay sane.

So, you drive your head forward, making direct contact with her face. She lets go off your arms to bring her hands up to her face, as you grab her leg and toss her off-balance.
