Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.
They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.
You... are not one of them. You are a transfer student. There was a bit of a mix-up.
>Previously on Dark Gate Academy...
Upon discovering the school's dark nature, you attempt to escape. But after some strange developments (and a lecture from the head of class) your curiosity gets the better of you, and you decide to stick around for now.
"Ryoji, I'd really appreciate it if you co-operated with me."
Early in the morning, before classes began, you were dragged into Akihito's office. Upon Tekina's discovery of your newly formed physiology, your homeroom teacher has taken it upon himself to play the role of the caring counsellor. You aren't letting him have the satisfaction of trying to claim he "Fixed" your attitude problem... no. For now, you'll stay quiet and fold some paper.
Akihito clears his throat. "I can see that you're still as stubborn as ever. But don't worry, I will get a meaningful dialogue out of you, whether you like it or not."
You keep your head down and whistle to yourself as you put the last finishing touches on your paper airplane.
"Ryoji, I understand that you want to keep up the appearance of being tough. After all, it must be very emasculating to be in a school where every single student is many times stronger than yourself..."
Yeah, thanks for the reminder, Teach.
"But you need to understand the importance of having someone to confide in. I know the news that our school nurse gave to you last night couldn't have been easy to hear. You must be distressed..."
>Remain silent
>Wouldn't you be distressed? I mean, this is insane!
>Nah, I'm cool as a cucumber.

>>Remain silent
>Nah, I'm cool as a cucumber.
>>58406
>How the hell will talking about it help?
You said that right ins were OK, right Booker?
>>58458
Yeah, write-ins are always an option unless otherwise stated.
>>58462
Good to know. Thank you.
>>58406

>Flip him the bird
>How the hell will talking about it help?
This is a complete waste of time. Akihito thinks that talking will make anything better? What a joke.
"It will allow you to vent, to express your emotions-"
"And how is expressing my emotions supposed to help me? I just got told my blood is that same as one of those monsters! What the hell is that?! I was normal before I came here! I bled regular blood, not freaky black goo! Am I turning into one of them? What's next, am I going to grow 20 feet and have giant sharp teeth? How is talking to you going to solve any of my problems? I just want to know what's going on!"
Akihito raises his hand, motioning for you to calm down. "We don't know what's happening with you yet, but it's good that you've decided to vent."
You point a finger at Akihito. "I'm not venting! I'm just yelling at you! Because you're stupid! All of this is stupid!"
"Good, let it all out..."
You let out an angry growl as you lean back in your chair. See? Talking is doing any good... it's just making you angrier.
"Now, we can discuss this more at length later. For now, we have class."
You follow Akihito back to the classroom, where you quickly find your seat and plant your face into the desk.
"Oh hey, you're still around!" Kosuke notes as you take your seat. "So you didn't take off, then?"
"No, I didn't," you muffle with your face pressed hard against the wooden desk.
Akihito bangs his hand on his desk, causing all the students to look forward.
"Can I have your attention please? Now, as most of you may know, it's time that we all voted for our next class president. Those of you who wish to run for the position, please volunteer now."
Saki's hand shoots in the air. "I'll run, sir! And I'll bring great honour to the position if I am elected."
"Aren't you already head of class?" Rini yells from the back.
Saki nods. "Yes, but this is a whole different beast. The Class President is in direct contact with Principal Wei himself! I've been preparing since the beginning of last semester!"
Saki pulls out a gigantic binder from her bag and slams it hard on the table. "I've prepared a list of all my policies for the coming school year. Chief of which is coming down hard on delinquency. In the interest of our education, I won't let it cut into class time, but you can ask me about it any-time!"
"Yes, very impressive Saki..." Akihito sighs as he adds her name to the blackboard. Anyone else?
>>58494
This. Two handed, like Steve Austin.
Pirate Hat girl's hand shoots up. "Yes, Nanami?"
Nanami stands from her seat and gives a wink. "I volunteer to become Captain of this vessel! I will run on the promise that this semester we WILL find the fabled buried treasure beneath the school grounds. Yar!"
Many in the class laugh at Nanami as Akihito shakes his head and adds her name to the board. "Okay... anyone else?"
A boy in the class begins to tap on his desk and chant "SA-YE-KA SA-YE-KA". Before long, most of the class are joining in. Sayeka stands from her chair in order to address the crowd. "Oh... I don't really have anything prepared, but if people want me to run... then I guess that's what I'll do!" She smiles, and the class cheers.
Akihito nods as he adds Sayeka to the list.
Kosuke leans over and whispers. "Well, Sayeka's won already. I don't know why anyone would take a popularity contest like this seriously. You'd have to be a real idiot to run..."
>I nominate myself to run for Class President!
>I nominate Kosuke to run for Class President!
>Yeah, this is all a real waste of time.
>>58546
>>Yeah, this is all a real waste of time.

>>58652
Well obviously we do it and make sure he wins
Can't let him have the last laugh
"You do?" Saki and Akihito ask in unison, in equal bewilderment.
Kosuke leans in. "Why?"
You shrug. "It sounds like fun. Plus, I want to see if we can get more votes than Saki."
"Kosuke, do you wish to run for class president?" Akihito asks.
"Uh... sure. Why not?"
Saki glares at you as Akihito adds Kosuke's name to the board.
"Okay, we have four potential nominees. Since I'd like to get this out of the way as soon as possible, we'll hold the voting tomorrow morning."
The class plays out as boring as ever until the bell rings for first break.
As people begin to pool out of the classroom, Saki waits at the door handing out election stickers. As you pass by, she plasters one right on your chest.
"A vote for Saki is a vote for Order!" you read aloud, examining it. "Very cute. Where you up all night making these?"
"What do you take me for, an amateur?" She smirks back. "I made them months ago!"
You turn to walk away, but Saki grabs you by the arm. "And don't think I don't know what you're doing."
"And what's that?" you smirk back.
"You're trying to undermine me. You want me to lose the election, but you're too much of a coward to even nominate yourself! It's not going to work. Kosuke? What a joke, neither of you have any kind of plan! This year, that position is mine!"
She lets go, and you continue down the hallway. Kosuke catches up to you. "Yo, so what's our gameplan?"
"Huh?" you ask.
"Well, you want me to get more votes than Saki, right?" he replies. "I have no stake in this, but I figured you'd want to try lobbying for me. Should be fun to watch."
"What am I? Your campaign manager?"
Kosuke shrugs. "You nominated me. Besides, it shouldn't be hard to beat Saki, considering how well she did last year."
"How many votes did she get last year?" you ask.
"One."
You laugh. "And who voted for her?"
"She did. The elections allow you to vote for yourself, so nobody has to live with having zero votes and feeling bad. It's ridiculous."
You can't contain your laughter. Oh, that is just too good.
"So, since it's break, where should we start our campaign?"
>Why don't we try the library? Get in good with the bookworms?
>If we really tried, I bet we could win this election. Where do most kids hang out during break?
>Who cares? We might get enough votes without even doing anything!
>>58694
>>If we really tried, I bet we could win this election. Where do most kids hang out during break?

>>If we really tried, I bet we could win this election. Where do most kids hang out during break?
Kosuke's our Bro, gotta support him Delinquents stick together. Honor, Justice and all that.
>>58694
>>If we really tried, I bet we could win this election. Where do most kids hang out during break?
also isn't there going to be darkworld stuff today? Should we see about getting equipment for that? Not a weapon since we can't fight but maybe like a riot shield since our only "ability" is to tank hits and recover quickly?
>>58741
Totally forgot to add a pick to that, derp. Also, pic related.
>If we really tried, I bet we could win this election. Where do most kids hang out during break?
"I don't want to actually win this thing," Kosuke replies, "Sounds like too much of a hassle. But if you really want to try, most kids hang out by the lockers next to the cafeteria."
You nod, and the two of you make your way to find potential voters for your campaign. You find most of your class huddled together in a large group, most of them yelling.
"What's going on?" you ask.
Kosuke shrugs. "Akio started a betting pool on who can kill the most Darkworlders before the end of the semester."
Sure enough, as you push your way into the crowd, you see Akio addressing the class, standing atop a box next to a long sheet of paper stapled to a locker.
"Ladies and gentlemen of Class 2, I abstained from updating the board yesterday out of respect for our good friend Daisuke, but now it is time to continue with the game as usual! Last time we were in the Darkworld, Class 2's finest hero Akio Naito was able to slay not One, but TWO Darkworlders, placing me in the lead! There's no need to worship at my feet, but I won't object if you do." He smirks as he adds a few strikes to a tally on the sheet next to his name.
In fact, the names of the whole class are on this sheet, accompanied with what appear to be betting odds.
>Akio - 3:1
>Seishiro - 4:1
>Raiden - 6:1
>Sayeka - 10:1
>Saki - 15:1
It continues on like this, until you finally see the bottom on the list.
>Kosuke - 200:1
>Ryoji - 1,000,000:1
"So once again, it's time to place your bets!" Akio announces, and the students burst into a commotion.
"500 yen on Sayeka!" Kosuke announces, apparently having forgotten why you came here.
"What the... is this game still going on?!" you hear Saki's voice cry out from behind the group. Oh boy, time for the killjoy.
Saki stomps up to Akio, her massive binder in hand. "I thought I told you to stop this! Gambling is strictly forbidden on school premises-"
"And I think you're just jealous that you're not the odds-on favourite," Akio smirks. "No need to get your panties in a twist, Saki. We're all just having fun."
"You can have fun while still following the rules," Saki states. "Now, tear down that stupid board or I'll have no choice but the report you to the principal."
Akio frowns as Saki storms off, probably to lecture some kid about the importance of tucking in your shirt.
"Ugh, I can't believe she's running for class president," One girl in the class states. "She's only going to get more insufferable when she realises she has no friends."
>You know, Kosuke's first order of business if he's elected will be to burn that binder of hers.
>Now that she's gone, I'd like to place a bet on myself.
>>58878
>>You know, Kosuke's first order of business if he's elected will be to burn that binder of hers.
>>58878
>You know, Kosuke's first order of business if he's elected will be to burn that binder of hers.
>Also 1 yen on me, why cause I expected worse odds by far.
>>58906
This, but 110 yen, because that's ~1 USD
>>58906
Yeah, add me onto that. Voted for the same one, but that addition's great and IC.
>>58878
>>You know, Kosuke's first order of business if he's elected will be to burn that binder of hers.
>>Now that she's gone, I'd like to place a bet on myself.
>>58906
Yeah this seems good.
>You know, Kosuke's first order of business if he's elected will be to burn that binder of hers.
>Also 1 yen on me, why cause I expected worse odds by far.
Akio let's out a huge belly laugh. "Ha! You're really betting on yourself? That's just throwing away money!"
You shrug. "Maybe, but if I win I'm a million times richer than I started."
"You've got guts. And Kosuke? You'll burn that binder if you become president?"
"If Ryoji says so, then yeah." Kosuke keeps his hands in his pockets.
"If that's the case, then you have my vote!" a girl laughs.
"I don't know, it seems kind of mean..." Sayeka mutters.
Akio takes her hand and places it in his own. "Oh my dear sweet Sayeka, Saki and her obsession with the rules have made a school lives a hell even worse than the Darkworld. It's only right that she has what's coming to her."
"But she probably worked hard on it," Sayeka adds. "I don't think it's right to destroy her property."
"Classic Sayeka, caring through and through!" one of the boys yells.
Sayeka sighs, and turns to you. "Can I speak with you for a moment?"
There are some shocked gasps from the crowd as the most popular girl in school pulls you aside. "Why are you running for class president?" she asks you once you're a good distance from the rest of the class.
"I'm not, Kosuke is!"
"Oh please, Kosuke has absolutely zero ambition. He's just going along with your suggestion because he has nothing better to do." Sayeka places her hands together. "You must know you aren't going to win. Neither is Saki. The school elections have always been a popularity contest." Sayeka brushes her hair out of her face daintily as she looks you in the eye. "So why bother having Kosuke run? I know you and Miss Kobashi don't get along. Are you really doing this just to spite her?"
>Yeah, pretty much.
>No, I just thought it would be fun.
>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
>>59038
>>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
"And it might be fun."
>>59038
>>No, I just thought it would be fun.

>>59038
>>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
>>59038
>>No, I just thought it would be fun.
Honestly, I know Saki has no shot at it, if I wanted to spite her I could do worse. I figured faffing about with my friend would fun. Worst comes to worse we lose a day having fun.
>>59038
>>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
>>59038
>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
>>59068
>>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
Agreed with this, might as well hunt Saki down once she loses and give her some sympathy, but Kosuke our man needs that boost.
>No. I just think it would be good for Kosuke. Give him a sense of self-worth.
Sayeka eyes you suspiciously. "If that's true, then it's a noble cause. But an uphill battle. I don't think Kosuke has ever had anything close to self-worth. He'd rather float like a cloud through life than ever attempt to do anything worthwhile. Maybe if you can earn him more than a handful of votes, he might develop a sense of responsibility. Either way, he has mine."
You raise an eyebrow. "You aren't voting for yourself?"
"Why would I? I'm going to win no matter who I vote for." She sighs. "Popularity is a real burden."
The bell rings, signalling the end of first break. "Oh well, I'll see you in class."
Next in the day, you have... history class. You follow the rest of the students into the history classroom, where you find a strange looking dark-haired man thumbing through a book. The classroom itself is also strangely decorated, with the walls painted like a carnival tent and dreamcatchers hanging down from the ceiling.
"Oh, I was looking for history class. I must have accidentally wandered into the circus."
Rini brushes past you. "Oh yeah, this is your first class with Yuji, isn't it? He's a weird teacher, big into mysticism and all that nonsense."
"What's that smell?" you say, upturning your nose.
"We don't know. It's always been here," Kosuke explains as you take your seats.
Yuji claps his hands together. "Now my sons and daughters, before we begin our studies, Miss Kobashi has requested that I allow some time for each of your classmates running for Class President to give a brief speech."
A collective groan spreads throughout the room.
"Aw, I didn't know I had to give a speech," Kosuke mutters. "This is becoming a real drag."
>Then don't give one. I don't care.
>Come on Kosuke, it's just one speech. Shouldn't be that hard.
>>59196
>>Come on Kosuke, it's just one speech. Shouldn't be that hard.
Doesn't have to be about anything to do with the election. Hell, tell them about that one time you killed a Darkworlder with your toe!

>>59308
We must remove all angst and pointless bitchiness.
Man, I feel bad that we're right back to trying to fuck Saki over after we had a decent moment with her last episode. I mean, yeah we can tease her, but running for class pres pretty much to spite her, lying about why we're doing it, and then saying we're gonna burn her binder? Feels like some kinda aesop-amnesia to me
>Come on Kosuke, it's just one speech. Shouldn't be that hard.
Kosuke yawns. "A whole speech? This isn't fun anymore."
Ryoji. "Are you really that lazy? Wait, don't answer that. One speech isn't a hassle. You don't even have to say anything important! Just go up there and be yourself!"
"Be... myself?" Kosuke pauses, thinking hard. "Okay, I'll do it."
>10 minutes later
"...And that is how my presidency will restore order to a chaotic world! Let's make this Academy great again!"
Saki pauses for an applause that never comes. Dejected, she returns to her seat.
"You're up," you whisper to Kosuke, as he rises from his chair.
"I can't believe you talked him into this," Rini whispers back. "Kosuke's so laid-back, he usually wouldn't even do this as a joke. I think you've convinced him he might actually get some votes... that aren't from you and me."
Kosuke stands at the front of the class. A long silence passes before he finally addresses the crowd. "Sup, I'm Kosuke. I guess I'm running for Class President."
Another long silence passes. "So... any questions?" he asks.
Saki's hand shoots up. "What is your policy on tardiness?"
"Don't have one," Kosuke shrugs.
Saki's hand shoots up again. "Then what is your policy on student's smoking?"
"Don't have one."
"Then what's your policy-"
"-I'm going to stop you right there, Saki," Kosuke cuts in, "Because I don't have one."
Saki crosses her arms in frustration. "Then what are you policies?"
"I don't have any."
"Then what would you even do as president?"
Kosuke pauses for a moment. "Nothing. I wouldn't do anything. We spend most of our school nights fighting demons in a world of pure evil. Do these kids really need someone to come along and push a lot of rules to make their lives even worse? Nah... we've already got it pretty bad. I think the best thing to do as class president is... nothing. Let people chill out and relax for once without someone breathing down their neck all the time. But that's just me."
A moment of silence, and then the entire class breaks out in applause. A surprised smile forms on the face of Kosuke as he returns to his seat, while Saki sinks lower into hers in shame.
"See, I knew you could do it!" you exclaim as Kosuke sits next to you.
"Yeah Kosuke, I'm impressed!" Rini adds. "You already had my vote to begin, but now I wish I could vote twice!"
Class continues until the bell rings for lunch. You gather your things and make your way to the cafeteria. Kosuke may have just won himself the election with that speech, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to mingle with the rest of the class a little more. Where should you sit?
>Sit with the popular kids
>Sit with the bookworms
>Sit with Kosuke and Rini

>>59340
>Sit with Saki
>>59348
Nor was I. Though I do think we should possibly convince Kosuke not to actually burn it. Still, gotta lie to get votes. Just lied about something different.
>>59336
Like we are actually going to burn her binder. We aren't going to do that right?
>>59368
Not if I have anything to say about it. We're a useless delinquent who pranks people, but we're not mindlessly malicious, we're like the guy who tugs on pig-tails in elementary school when he has a crush. Ryo's got a bit of a stunted social development.
>>59340
>>Sit with Saki
Maybe having a friend would help her chill out we need to be more responsible and she needs to be less.
>Sit with Saki
You seat yourself down opposite Saki, who is sitting alone on the far end of the cafeteria. As you do, she looks up from her lunch to glare at you.
"What do you want, Ryoji? Have you come to gloat about how you beat me? How you a Kosuke broke the system and devolved this school into another year of chaos?"
You shake your head. "Nah, I just thought I could sit here."
Saki slams the table with her fist. "Yeah, right! You just want to brag about stealing all my votes! A theft typical of a delinquent such as yourself!"
You tried to be nice, but she's starting to get on your nerves. "What votes? Nobody was voting for you anyway! This is all a popularity contest, and you don't have any friends!"
Saki burst up from her seat. "Well, neither do you! All you've done is make a mockery of the honoured tradition of class presidential elections!"
"Honored?" you ask, incredulously. "Newsflash Saki; of the four candidates, two of them didn't want to run, and one of them thinks she's a pirate! This whole election is stupid, and nobody cares about it!"
Saki grits her teeth. "Well, if you don't care about it, then why have you spent the whole day trying to get the class on your side?"
>Because I want them to like me, okay?
>Because I think Kosuke deserves to be president!
>You know what? Fine! I did do it just to annoy you!

>>Because I think Kosuke deserves to be president!
You are so stuck in the rules you can't see past them, kosuke can grow from the opportunity and maybe be a bit more ambitious. Stop thinking everything i do is to spite you.
>>59463
>Because I think Kosuke deserves to be president!
I feel like we started out doing this to fuck with her, but by this point we've pretty much figured out that Kaosuke being in charge would be good for him as well as everyone. Still, I wish we could let Saki down a little gentler.
>>59463
>>Because I think Kosuke deserves to be president!
And because if anyone doesn't need the added stress of that on her shoulders, it's you. Look at you, you're wound tighter than a spring about to snap.
Therapy Ryoji, AWAAAAYYY!
>>59492
Could we be any more Dere if we tried?
>>59492
Shit, yes, that second part. Can we get that as some kind of write in? Like, he grabs her attention with the preselected line, and then lets the second line out a little quieter.
>>59499
But anon we are the tsundere.
>>59512
That's what I was thinking. Ryo doesn't want anyone else to hear it, but she saved his life, and she's the reason he stayed, he owes her more than he's likely to be able to say out loud.
>>59522
Actually, you're right, I hadn't considered it but the fact she saved our life at one point is probably why we've listened to her, and why she was able to talk us into staying anyways. I wonder if its had any affect on her, especially considering it happened about the same time her friend kicked the bucket
>>59546
It's a powerful moment, whether or not Ryo's willing to voice it to her, he's already made it clear to Ken that he respects the ideas of Honor and Justice, even if he doesn't like Authority Figures. His life was in her hands, and she gave it back to him. Figuratively, of course.
>>59492
Imma gonna come in and back this one as well.
>>59546
Well when you think about it, its not just her friend. She's lost two people already. The heavily implied boyfriend, and the former no.1. Its kind of amazing shes holding it as well as she is. Unless you think of course she isn't holding it in at all.
>>59492
>Because I think Kosuke deserves to be president!
"No you don't, you just want to live in a world without any rules!" Saki yells, slamming her hands hard against the table.
"I mean it, he does!" you fire back. "And the rest of the class seem to think so! We all need someone who can chill us out and take some of the stress off, especially you!"
"What do you mean, especially me?" Saki asks.
"If anyone needs to relax, it's you! Look at you, you're wound tighter than a spring about to snap."
Saki huffs. "I am NOT tightly wound!"
"Saki, you're yelling at me in the middle of a cafeteria," you reply.
She stops, and looks around to notice several students staring in her direction. She turns bright red with embarrassment.
"Maybe if you could take a little of that burden off your shoulders, you'd see that you're not the best candidate for the job. Kosuke is."
Saki's eyes dart around the room. "I... I..." she stammers, "I don't have to hear this from you! You can't pull me in with cheap tricks like everyone else! You're just trying to throw me off my game! This election's still mine to win!"
With that, she storms off. Not in anger, as she's want you to believe, but in shame. You sigh, sit down and enjoy your lunch.
Since you had a late start to your meal, everyone has already left the cafeteria before you do. It's up to you on how you spend the rest of lunch.

Writing now.
You decide that now is as good a time as any to take a trip to the school roof and relax a little. You make your way up the stairs and through a metal door leading out into a wide open area. You feel the cool air hit your face, as you take in a deep, soothing breath. As you look out, you see that you aren't the only one with the idea to come up here.
"Ahoy sailor!" Nanami shouts, spinning around as she hears the large metal door to the roof's entrance swing open. "It's about time someone joined me in gazing out over the majestic sea!"
"Actually, that a school. Not an ocean," you answer. "I can see how you could make that mistake. They look a lot alike."
"And fish swim in both!" she laughs, before looking out over the school courtyard from her high-point. "Just think, tomorrow I'll be voted Captain of all of this! Everything the light touches will be mine!"
She gives a wide grin, as you decide against explaining that the election are for class president, not school president. "You spend every lunchtime up here?" you ask.
"Most of them," Nanami answers, "People usually chase me away if I try to stay anywhere else, so this is my domain!"
She outstretches her arms, enjoying the cool breeze. "So, why are you up here?" she asks, before letting out a gasp. "You're not here to claim my territory, are you! Because I'll fight to keep it! Draw your weapon, you scurvy dog!"
>Why are you so weird?
>I just wanted a place where I could sit peacefully.

Besides, I don't have a weapon, and I have a policy against punching people with pink hair. Last time I did the pepto got all over my sleeve. That, and it's no fun punching someone pretty. Just ruins the eye-candy.

Besides, who doesn't like lonely pink pirates? Much better eye-candy than fight-fodder.
>>59994
I don't mind delinquents I just hate angst, hopefully pinko survives the rape monsters.

That'd be really great, gotta agree.
Pity we have yet to really talk to Rini though, she seemed cool.
>>59830
STEAL THE HAT. It will be ours.
>I just wanted a place where I could sit peacefully.
"Oh... then I'll allow it. As long as you don't plan a mutiny, you can stay aboard my ship!"
"Great... thanks..." you mutter, rolling your eyes as you take a seat on the roof.
You close your eyes and lie back, basking in the nice April sun, until you notice something blocking out your sunlight. You open your eyes to see Nanami standing over you, smile on her face.
"So... what do you think of school so far?" she asks.
"Well, if you ignore the portal to hell, the giant monsters, and the staff who want to treat me like some kind of lab experiment... then it's still an awful place."
You sit up, and Nanami plants herself next to you. "There's some things you like, right? How about Saki? That's one pretty girlfriend you've got there."
You feel like throwing up. "Saki isn't my girlfriend."
"Aww, that's a shame. It would be cute if she was."
You groan. "Remember when I said I wanted someone to sit peacefully? You're kinda undermining that."
Nanami laughs. "Heh, you're funny! I heard you were just some dumb delinquent, and maybe that's true, but who knows? Lot's of people say lot's of things, so you can never be too certain. For instance, some people like to say that I'm crazy! Me! Can you imagine? I also heard a rumour once that Sayeka's parents are divorced and that she hasn't spoken to them in years, and that Chihiro lived in a mansion before coming here! I also heard that Seishiro..."
Oh great, she's rambling now. Why did you come up here?
>Do you ever shut up?

>So Nanami, what's with the whole pirate thing?
You interrupt her rambling to ask a question, startling Nanami for a moment. "What do you mean?"
"You dress up like a pirate and try to act like a pirate every day. Come on, there has to be a reason for it!"
Nanami pauses, then smiles. "Well yeah, there's a reason! Because it's fun!"
You stare incredulously. "Fun?"
She nods. "Yeah! All the time we're expected to do battle against those monsters from the Darkworld, and that's not fun. Actually, it's really scary! So I thought that everyone could use a little fun! So, I took an old costume from the theatre department, came into class and started acting like a pirate. I made people laugh, so I kept doing it. And what do you know, people are still laughing!"
"You know they're laughing AT you right?" you answer back.
"That's what I said! I'm making them laugh!" she beams a blissful smile.
>No, they're making fun of you. Everyone in school thinks you're weird.

Man, this is the only option that feels right. I feel like we should at least poke a bit of fun at her, but not as harmfully as the first option.
>If that's the case, then keep up the good work, Captain.
The kid's already spending her lunchtimes alone, no need to rub it in that she doesn't have any friends. You're not the nicest guy in the world, but some targets are so easy you just feel bad hitting them.
"Thanks!" Nanami smiles. "I suppose then I can count on your vote in the elections!"
The school bell rings as lunch-time comes to a close. Good thing to, you didn't want to explain to her that you were voting for Kosuke.
You pick up your bag and make your way back to class. Akihito bores you to death for the next hour or two, until another bell rings and the classes finish for the day. Before you even have a chance to gather yourself, Tekina bursts into the classroom and strides up to your desk. "Are you ready, Ryoji?" she asks, clasping your hands in hers.
"Ready for what?" you ask.
"Tonight's a designated night! We'll be entering the Darkworld, and I want to examine exactly how you react with it's inhabitants. Oh, I've been shaking with excitement all day! This is so amazing! I want to keep a close eye on you at all times!"
You sigh. You don't know what's worse, entering the Darkworld, or having Tekina breathing down your neck the whole time.
>Can you promise not to be crazy this time? I'd like to avoid being stabbed with a syringe again.
>You stay away from me! I'm not your guinea pig, you whacko!

I feel like we've become, somehow, adjusted to the fucked upness of this all, we're probably hitting the begrudging acceptance phase. For now, at leas,t no doubt that a night in the Darkworld to jog our memory will send us reeling back into 'fuck this'-landAlso, 'voting for Kosuke? There's no way we aren't going to end up voting for Saki out of pity just so she has more than one vote. She wont win and we know it, but might as well make her feel a bit better about it all. Bonus points if we never admit it was us.
>>60436
>Can you promise not to be crazy this time? I'd like to avoid being stabbed with a syringe again.
>>60475
Kind of agree with this, people with vote for him anyway, so there is that.
>>60475
You have said literally everything I wanted to. Add my vote to the "Don't be a crazy bitch this time." tally.

Yeah, we've earned him enough votes we can pretend we were one of them, it's just too hard not to feel bad for Saki.
>>60436
>Can you promise not to be crazy this time? I'd like to avoid being stabbed with a syringe again.
Then again, I could totally see Ryo pulling out the Delibqueebt card and Sleight of Hand-ing in multiple votes, one each for Nanami, Kosuke and Saki, each of them seem like they need our help to be propped up, maybe sneak out a couple of Sayeka's, she didn't seem bad, but no one likes an idol.
>>60475
Nothing like a swift spine in the gut to remind you that "Oh yeah, this world is crazy, I don't care how great Rini's Top-of-the-class-Ass is, I want OUT!"
>>60662
As great as Rini's ass is, I think that ass might already have a big 'property of Kosuke' label on it.
Or maybe we'll get the opportunity to set those two up in future? Delinquent-come-matchmaker would be fun.
>>60692
It would be, but you're crusbing my dreams here pal.
>>60698
We can still get piratebutt or tightcuntbutt.
>>60692
I wouldn't mind playing a little cupid and making sure everyone's smiles are there. We just need an ability to make sure all damage done to allies goes to us.
>>60710
Yeah, I guess. I just find it funny that so far both of Booker's quests I've taken part in have had my ship end up / likely to end up with the best friend.
>Can you promise not to be crazy this time? I'd like to avoid being stabbed with a syringe again.
"I've never been crazy!" Tekina protests, puffing out her cheeks. "But I promise I won't stick anything in you without your permission first."
That's... reassuring? Whatever, she probably isn't going to let you out of her sight no matter what you do.
As the day winds to an end, all of Class 2 gather and wait within the homeroom. As everyone else gets equipped, Akihiko tosses you a small wooden shield.
"What's this for?" you ask.
"Since you can't fight anything in the Darkworld, you could at least carry something to defend yourself. It's not much, but it's all I can spare."
Tekina leans over your shoulder and begins to take notes. "Oh, I just can't wait!" she exclaims. "Wait here while I grab some equipment! Don't move a muscle until I say so!"
She runs off to the other side of the room as you let out a yawn. This is going to be a real pain.
The sun sets, and for the second time since you arrived in this school, you have the sickening experience of the floor crumbling beneath your feet and completely blacking out.
You awake to see one of your classmates staring you in the face. "You okay?" he asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine," you reply. "First time that happened I was stuck with just Daisuke and Saki. I'm real glad that this time I'm entering with the rest of the class backing... me..."
You trail off, as you realise that this classmate is the only one standing before you. You spin around, and find that the two of you have been separated by a giant wall.
"Hello?" you hear Saki's voice call out from the other side of the wall. "Is anyone there?"
"Yeah, I'm here with... uhh..."
"Hiro."
"I'm here with Hiro!"
"Ryoji, is that you?" Tekina's voice calls out from the right side of the wall. "Oh god, how could we be separated like this! Noooooooo!"
You shake your head. At least you won't have Tekina breathing down your neck while you're here.
"Nanami and Akemi are here on my side," Saki yells through the wall.
"I have Satomi, Reiji and Hoshi!" Tekina cries out.
"And the rest of the class is with me!" Akihito's voice bellows from your left. "It seems we're trapped in some maze. Each group stick together as best you can, try not to get seperated any further! There's no telling what's ahead!"
You turn around to face Hiro.
>So... we're doomed.
>You take the lead, I'll stay close behind.
>>60710
I think the ideal situation is going for a slow-burn on the tightcuntbutt without realising what we're doing, and mroe actively going for the piratebutt, and after some smoochy smoochy or whatever happens there, we get a jealous tightcuntbutt, which is twice as good as a normal tightcuntbutt because a jealous TCB is liable to make an adorable tsundere-style first move.
Maybe then we can throw our roommate a bone with the priatebutt, they'd probably get on pretty well.
>>60730
>Screw it, I'll take the lead. These things can't seem to permanantly hurt me, I just heal. Stick behind me.
>>60730
>>You take the lead, I'll stay close behind.
Can't do damage, but we can soak it at least.
>>60737
I'll go along with it, still say we should try to get Rini to show off though. Between Piratebutt and TCB, I pick the OneTrueTsundereShip.
>>60743
This, we might as well try and balls up for once, maybe Hiro will be a good friend in future after this, can't let him go and die to save us or anything.
>>60743
Let's go with this.
>>60743
This but be sure to take his advice about how to handle anything we encounter
He's had a lot more experience with this than we do
>>60730
>>You take the lead, I'll stay close behind.
Better to fight even if we fail we should make a good show of it.
>>60774
To be fair, we haven't gotten a good look at either, but I'm calling it now, Ryo is officially an ass man, he didn't comment on the beautiful coat-puppies that Nanami had.
This is officially further than we got with Ace.
>>60763
I'd love to have Rini show off a bit. Especially if this results in Kosuke getting a bit jealous, that'd provide a setup for the matchmaking as well as a quarrel between him and the MC. It's not just shipping, its character development! Huzzah.
>>60794
Ace did have actually sleep with someone, I will have you remember.
>>60813
Character development, and the best ass in the class on the rest of that pic related.
>>60820
He did, but we never clarified if he was an ass of a breast-man, and he spent the first week of that relationship actively avoiding sleeping with her.
>>60835
*Or, accursed keyboard.
>Screw it, I'll take the lead. These things can't seem to permanantly hurt me, I just heal. Stick behind me.
Hiro nods and smiles. "Okay, if you want to take the lead, then I've got your back."
The two of you begin to carefully pace through the maze, you holding up your shield while Hiro... actually, Hiro doesn't have a weapon. "Don't you have a sword or anything?" you ask.
Hiro shakes his head. "I'm not much of a fighter. In fact, I'm a pacifist."
"What? But aren't you second in class behind Saki?"
Hiro smiles. "I don't fight, but I've been given a much better ability than that. One that suits me perfectly."
"Oh, and what is that?" you ask.
"When in danger, I can create a bubble around myself that can keep out any Darkworlder who try to get through. It takes a lot of energy, though... I can't hold it up for very long. I can also heal the wounds of others."
Your eyes widen. "Wait... so you're telling me that neither of us are able to actually fight and kill a Darkworlder if we come across one? Oh... crap."
Okay, things are looking bleak, but as long as you can hold out for a while, rendezvous with another group before finding any monsters, you should be-
*CREAK*
Huh, that's odd. The tile you just stepped on is loose, and it sinks as you put pressure on it.
*CLICK*
Oh... that's why.
A rumbling noise permeates through the maze, as a new set of walls begin to form, coming between you and Hiro, with the intention of separating the two of you.

Also, there is no way in hell Hiro's bubble keeping out Darkworlders isn't going to fuck with us, considering we technically are a Darkworlder.
>>61058
Yeah, if he pops it we're boned, but I'm pretty sure the Ryoji we've created so far would rather get ousted as being part Darkworlder now than let Hiro die.
>>61064
I dunno man, I usually get crap rolls, I didn't expect to be useful. Back when I played DnD, I was infamous for getting more 1s than anybody's business. The dice gods hate me.
>>61091
I know the feeling. I'm currently DMing a game, and playing another one as a PC with a couple of the characters. Character kept botching attacks, ended up deciding fuck it, today couldn't get any worse, so he got drunk and threw a knife at the face of the enemy king when he started monologuing. My only crit of the night.
>>61109
Similar things happened to me, I would get god awful rolls until I gave in and started doing stupid shit like pointless kicking down doors or punching one of the 'invincible semi-corporeal demons' in the face. That was great, the sheer force of will in the punch caused the collision of my fist into its head to somewhat solidify it's face around my wrist, so when I drew my hand back its face came off. Only demon we killed that campaign since the GM went radio silence on us years ago and never showed his face again, which sucks. Pretty sure he moved to America.
But hey, upsides, it seems the dice gods smiled upon me this day and maybe we aren't going to get our shit pushed in by a random Darkworld trap.
So, just to sum up, our current goals.
>Work the Slowburn with TCB, build that Tsundere, let it work, don't try to force it.
>Get Kosuke elected, but vote for TCB to spare her feelings.
>Try to escape tonight alive.
>Somehow convince Rini to show off her ass for us, preferably by bringing up her comment about being 'Top of the List', and asking her to prove it.
>See if being a Darkworlder gives us any other powers than having Wolverine-Regeneration
>Flirt with Piratebooty to make TCB jealous, and maybe get some.
>Try and get TCB to smoke with us. Hell, anyone really. Ken, Kosuke, Rini, and Piratebooty all on the possible list.
Anything I missed?
>>61159
I feel you there. To be fair, it wasn't ENTIRELY stupid, we were besieging the city, and he was unarmored, though at the same time, I'd just opened the chest we all said was obviously trapped, and was, because what the hell, today can't get any worse.
>>61180
>Not putting Saki on the smoking list
Nothing would be better than tempting her into trying it, only for her to hate it.She keeps trying and keeps coughing a storm up every time just because she won't let us best her at something. Maybe also because she's trying to impress us.
>>61231
TCB is Saki. Was nicknamed earlier in the thread, Tight Cunt Butt. Getting Saki to smoke with us comes before everyone else.
>>61247
Crap, I totally skipped over that, I can't believe it. I was even the one to start using TCB as an abbreviation. Jeez its late. Still, I'm staying up till this is done.
>Rolled 76
You grab Hiro and pull him forward, just in time too, as the walls close in behind you.
"I guess that means we can't go back..." Hiro's mutters, picking himself up and dusting himself off. "From now on, let's stick to one wall and be careful where we stand. Look..."
He points out the loose tile you stepped on. You notice that it's marked with an egyptian-looking Eye of Horus symbol. "As long as we avoid any marked tiles, we shouldn't have a repeat."
"Good thinking," you reply, as the two of you stick to the left wall and move forward, keeping your eyes on the ground as you do.
As you move forward, you begin to hear a wailing sound in the distance. At first, it sounds like a faint moan, but it gets clearer the further you move forward.
"Do you think that's another group?" Hiro asks, as you journey on.
As you take a few steps forward, you manage to make out a few voices within the wailing.
"Heeeeeeeeelp uuuuuuuuuuus.... saaaaaaaaaave uuuuuuuuuuuus"
"That has to be more of us!" you exclaim, quickening your pace. Whoever they are, they sound like they're in trouble, and you need to reach them fast. You reach a corner, with the only option being to turn left. As the wailing gets louder, Hiro rushes ahead of you. As you make the turn, at the end of a very long hallway you discover the source of the cries.
It isn't another group. Oh god, you wish it was.
Before you lies a horrible creature, a strange blob floating within the labyrinth, it's body an amalgamation of countless screaming faces, with a pair of hands reaching out as it charges towards you.
Hiro immediately goes on the defensive, forming a bubble that spreads out a few feet in diameter around his body. "Get inside!" he calls out to you. "This shield only keeps out Darkworlders!"
You run to meet Hiro, but as you make contact with the shield, you bounce back and land on your ass.
Shit, you should have seen that coming. If the shield keeps out Darkworlders, and physiologically you are a Darkworlder, then Two plus Two equals Hiro looking at you in a bewildered state as the creature grabs you in it's hands and tosses you at a nearby wall.
If it weren't for you durability, you probably would have been splatted like a fly then and there, but instead you just feel like you've been hit by a truck. The Legion charges down the hallway in what seems to be a blind rage, or a blind search for something. Hiro rushes to your aid.
"I don't know what happened... Ryoji, are you okay?"
"Worry about that thing first..." you mutter as you pick yourself off the ground pointing out the legion monster, which has turned around and begun charging back at the two of you.
"What do we do? Neither of us can fight it!" Hiro exclaims.
He's right. You can't fight it, and Hiro can't keep his shield up for long. How are you supposed to escape this thing?
Wait, in front of you. A tile marked with an eye! If you can step on it in time...

Are we really calling Saki that? It sounds kinda stupid to me desu.

No problem man, we're all in this together.
"Holy Shinto!"
>>61320
Wasn't my idea, but I kinda like it personally. Tight Cunt Butt. She's stuck up, and all that stress makes the muscles clench really tight. Plus, all these kids here have superpowers. Which implies she's way stronger than us, and can clench tighter.

Not today man.
>>61348
A fucking 2, right as I took a dig at your 3.
Oh dice gods, it's good to know where you stand once more.
>>61366
We stand together, before the giant scary monster that's about to eat Hiro.
>>61348
Outkekked.
>>61332
I still think it sounds dumb. It's not even a very efficient nickname, it only saves you one letter.
>>61298
Rollan for pirate booty.
>>61383
It wouldn't fix the one-letter thing, but we could just call her Sak.

Forgot dice, nice retard moment I got there.
>>61392
Always roll for Piratebooty, always.
Best case scenario is a threesome with Piratebooty and Best-Ass-in-the-Class Rini, followed by them trying to murder us, and us laughing it off, because immortal.
>>61389
I feel like that would annoy the shit out of her.
I am 100% for it.
>Rolled 75
Despite the pain aching throughout your entire body, you find the energy to leap onto the loose tile, pressing it down. It clicks in place, and the walls to your front and to your side begin to close in... though not as quickly as you would have liked. The Legion creature continues to charge down the hallway towards you and Hiro at an alarming speed, the wailing and screaming becoming louder and louder.
The creature is mere moments from reaching you and making a snack out of the two of you when the walls finally close in, shutting the monster out. You fall back, breathing the biggest sigh of relief as the sound of the creature wails are now muffled behind the thick walls of the maze.
"Wow... that was a close one..." Hiro mumbled, falling to his knees in exhaustion.
Of course, with the walls closed in on all sides, you and Hiro couldn't progress any further in the labyrinth... but at least you're contained safely within the one spot where no Darkworlders can get you.
The two of you sit down and wait it out until eventually the walls begin to melt away and everything becomes a blur. Your stomach does circles as you make the return trip back to reality, arriving in homeroom. You're never going to get used to that.
"Did everyone make it out okay?" Akihito asks the class upon return. "Where's Hiro?"
"Me and Ryoji are right here!" Hiro raises his hand in the air with a cheery smile.
"I guess you two weaklings lucked out and didn't find any darkworlders," Akio smirks.
"Actually we found a huge one! For a second there, I thought we were done for, but Ryoji here came up with a plan that saved my life!"
"He did?" Saki asks, in a tone of complete shock.
"Yep!" Hiro replies. "Ryoji might be the smartest guy in this class!"
"That's pushing it," both you and Saki reply in unison.
"Wow Sayeka, I can't believe you killed a Guardian!" you hear Ken shout out. "That's amazing!"
Sayeka blushes. "Oh, it's not that big of a deal, really."
"Of course it is!" Akio yells. "This places the lovely lady Sayeka at the top of the betting pool. A guardian counts for five Darkworlders!"
Most of the class begin to pool around Sayeka and begin to gush about how great she is. Damn, it would have been nice to get a little more recognition for your heroism.
"Hey, I'll always appreciate what you did tonight," Hiro says, placing a hand on your shoulder. "And I won't tell anyone about what happened with my shield. I don't know why you couldn't enter it, but whatever the reason, you didn't look surprised. I'll let that be your secret. You really came through tonight."

>>61539
>>Hey, you weren't so bad yourself!
And, thank you, I know the shield thing was weird, but I'm still trying to work it out myself. Seriously, though-
>>Stop, I have a reputation as a delinquent to uphold!

Not really much more to be said than that
>>61539
>thanks
>>61539
>>Stop, I have a reputation as a delinquent to uphold!
Is there even any question about what we'd choose this time?
>>61568
Don't seem to be getting much support, so I think I'll switch over to this, says the same thing, but less wordy.
>Stop, I have a reputation as a delinquent to uphold!
Hiro laughs. "If you say so. Still, I owe you one."
"RYOJI!"
Aww crap, here comes Tekina. She approaches you, her eyes near in tears. "A great tragedy took place tonight..." she says mournfully.
"What are you talking about? We all made it out okay!"
"But I didn't get to see you interact with the Darkwooooooorld!" She whines, sniffling.
"She's been like this all night..." the bespectacled kid in the class, Reiji, explains.
"And she has every right to!" Satomi yells back. "Science suffered a great blow tonight!"
"You have to tell me everything!" Tekina demands, grabbing you by the arm. "Every single thing that happened, every single feeling you felt, every bodily function you had while inside the Darkworld! You mustn't spare a single detail..."
You spend the rest of the night relaying your time in the Darkworld in gruelling detail before going to bed for the night.
>The Next Morning
Akihito slams a cardboard box onto his desk as he hands out small slips of paper to each desk. "Okay class, it's time to vote for your new President... please tick the box next to the candidate you feel is most worthy of the position."
You stare at the slip of paper as everyone gets to casting their votes. You pull out your pen and get to making a decision yourself.

>>61778
>Vote for Kosuke
bros b4 hos, and he is the best for the job imo.
>>61789
Someone please- ... Halp.
I'll admit, kinda scared Sayeka will get all the votes still and Kosuke will realize we didn't vote for him and be hurt that his bro stabbed him in the back.

I really hate people are going to leave our bro out for some pity puss, but I'll roll anyways.
>>61824
Don't really wanna leave him out, that's the thing. Want Kosuke to get it, but at the same time, as long as Sak gets even two votes, that'll prove that someone's willing to vote for her, even if she doesn't know who.
>>Vote for Kosuke

Well, that.
>>61824
It's because Kosuke's our bro and we've put in the effort for him that I think we can let him stand on his own.
>>61889
That, is a beautiful description. Let's keep it on hand if we get the votes back and only he and Rini voted for him.
>>61889
Well, that and I wanted to be nice to the Sak. Can't be a tsundere without the dere.
>>61908
Gotta have both, we propped Kosuke up, he gave a great speech, and Ryo!Sak is the OneTrueTsundere. OTT
Yall need to have more faith in Kosuke
After his speech it's defiantly gonna be down to him or Sayeka
>>61931
Oh, I know that, I'm just worried it'll be Sayeka 20-Something, Kosuke 2, Saki 2, Nanami 1, I want Kosuke to get at least enough votes to prop him up some more. The Brosuke deserves that.
>>61948
but that's what i'm saying after the response he got from his speech he defiantly has more than 2 votes for him
