Continuing again from where the game last left off.

>It is prehistoric times, and you control the developing Sanger tribe.
>Originally just a couple of survivors of the massacre of your former, original tribe, overtime you have come to settle in a forested lake region.
>Through acts of cunning, trade, politics and a good deal of militarism, you have come to dominate the lake region and are now the biggest tribe around, despite some significant demographic problems.
>As well, alongside all your actions in furthering the tribe, you have also progressed culturally, religiously, and scientifically. While not the most advanced in any of these subjects, you have overtaken everyone you know of in the area. Well, save for one group.
>Either way things are pretty comfy as you have made quite a nice settlement situated by the lakeside around a cave. Everyone is generally happy, safe and well provided for, and everyone is often busy with producing goods for trade and making improvements to the tribe and settlement. Currently the biggest efforts include, expanding on a basic wall made to encircle the main portion of the settlement, planning on constructing a granary and possible mill, creating a lakeside port to enable trade with a supposed "city" to the west, and creating a small but dedicated fighting force to protect the significant gains the tribe has made from hostile intent of other tribes in the region. However, due to the heavy snows and harsh weather, productivity has ground to a halt and some of these efforts cannot readily be pursued again till spring.

It is a little over halfway through winter, and is nearing the second year since you set off on your own with just one survivor, to end up here. What to do now, moving forward?

Sorry but im just really annoyed by the guy who WELCOMED RAIDERS INTO OUR TRIBE, GAVE THEM FREE SHELTER, THEN GAVE THEM FOOD?
What in the actual fuck?
Please send Mari with the warriors to murder these freeloaders ASAP.
Then MARI by HERSELF decapitates them and puts their stinking heads on poles 1 mile from the village in the direction of the Forest Raiders Camp
>>
>>292964
It wasn't a guy who welcome them in. It's more that a starving group was approached and given food, word of this spread, and now a bunch of other raiders moved in outside the walls and started squatting in the homes abandoned for the winter.

As for driving them out, any preferences towards the raiders themselves? Different treatment for the men, women, or children?
>>
1. Can the Forest Border Descent 36 year old language specialist please start hanging out with Rick, and become his/the tribe's translator? Can we give her the name Esmerelda plz. She should also hang out with Terel - Terel & Esmerelda, along with one purebred Sanger male, can be our team of Ambassadors for important meetings/negotiations with other tribes
2. Can the stealth specialist from the forest border women start hanging out with Illeomi & Mari, where she teaches Ill about how stealth relates to hunting and Mari about stealth in fighting? Can we call this stealth woman Brigitte?

** Trying to decide whether should get Illeo to have sex with wolves, to make werewolf slaves... Anyone down for that? Since she is hyperfertile now we can make crazy beastmen.
** Also just floating another idea: we could have Madde do a fertility tattoo on herself - then we could get her impregnated and hopefully she will have like a dozen Nephilim children at once :D

3. Actual action: Can we ask Madde about the history of her people. What was it like in the glory days of the Strangers... Why did they begin to lose power? What is the story of their expulsion... and finally why was Madde imprisoned on the island? (sorry if this already been answered)
>>
>>292983
I just want them all murdered except for the children. And Mari definitely has to sneak out at night, decpitate them, and put the heads on spikes 1 mile away in the direction of the forest raiders.
As to children: we take them via armed guard to a place within walking distance of the forest raider camp -- Mari and all the raiders, along with madde, everyone in full guard, takes the children on this march. The children are told to relate the story of how all the adults died because they had taken advantage of our hospitality. The children are told to tell the raiders our village is off limits.
>>
>>292991
actually i have to take this BACK
since we offered hospitality it is AGAINST THE LAWS OF CIVILITY to murder these stupid raiders
We have to just kick them all out on pain of death. If they try anything AFTER we cancel the hospitality THEN we kill them
>>
>>292987
Esmerelda can do that, sure. Along with Terel and Uru, you figure they'd be suited to represent the tribe in meetings and negotiations.

Meanwhile Brigitte, although more a specialist in camouflage and obscuring locations (how she was able to keep the remnants of her tribe safe, with careful hiding) still has skills in personal stealth. Mari is not particularly interested in it as a warrior, but Illeo takes well to it and figures when they can start leaving the fort come spring she'll be able to learn a lot.

As for Illeo to get freaky with the animals, well it would take a lot of convincing on her part, and not only both further curse her in the eyes of the tribe, but also make the Sanger look bad since she's one of their two women. It's not impossible, but will take some work and have repercussions. That may be why Madde was originally trying to mark the Lumpur prisoner she took, since your tribe probably would have killed her anyway. As for Madde herself, she isn't interested in marking herself with glyph magic. She suggests if you want a large influx of crossbreeds, to awaken one of her kin. She makes the poignant observation, that you have more than enough women for it.

Will cont. with the other part.

>>292996
For the action this week then, or at least one of them, you show in force and drive the forest raiders out. None of them are happy about it and there are some scuffles, but you manage to march them back the way they came. Generally they are pretty upset, and more than once threaten they'll be back in force in the spring.

Otherwise though you shove them off successfully.

>In other news, both Faun and Rowena are nearing their delivery dates, both heavily pregnant. Rowena in particular, expected to deliver in the next week or so.
>>
>>293039
Generally they are pretty upset, and more than once threaten they'll be back in force in the spring.
-- Have Mari & Madde gather all the Warriors and tell them we are in preparation for an onslaught by the ungrateful squatters. Warriors need to train extra hard.
-- Have Rick tell the rest of the tribe that they will be On Call in the spring, for the defence of our tribe against Forest Raiders. In any military actions the tribe as a whole will take orders from Mari & Madde, and the tribe-wide Army will be under the direction of the Warrior Corps
>>
>>293039
When asked about her past, Madde openly talks about her history, with a bit of sadness you can tell.

Originally in times past her people came to this land and drove out a race before them. For many generations they flourished and had a wonderful society, and eventually came to meet humans who came into their lands. There were some conflicts as expected, but generally they got on well with humans and even took on plenty as allies and subjects, entering into something of a golden age. Eventually though when they started using magic on humans, or when humans grew to large numbers (she isn't sure which was more pertinent), the other humans not living as their subjects turned against them. In such great numbers eventually her race were either killed or driven out of this world, such as in her case being imprisoned to the burial mound. As for why the island specifically, when her race began to dwindle, humans preferred to just drive them off rather than actually kill them and risk being cursed in death. So in the case of her and the other two, they were imprisoned to the island with the hopes that other people would steer clear of it and they would remain imprisoned and asleep indefinitely.

That's more or less the gist of it. When your tribe ignored the warnings and fear of the island and disturbed her burial mound, you woke her up, in a time which she isn't sure how long after she was imprisoned, to a world very different from the one she knew.
>>
>>293076
If Brigitte is better at making comflauge she should talk to Vegita about making a few sets of comflauge armor for a scouting party or something.

With the threats of some raiders Konah has the idea to take some of the Crop and make them pace the wall watching for them.

>>293054
Both actions seem pretty good to me, if they do return we need everyone to fight. While having our military up to snuf is always a plus.
>We do have a fire bombs, but I think that's a secret only Rick and the top few know.

Side actions:Start growing some of those mushrooms again and teach some of the border raiders how to tend to horses. Maybe make a midwife for some of the new borns.
>>
>>293054
>>293195
You figure that it's not worth waiting till spring to find out if the raiders are serious or not, and so withdraw the competition and games in free time and go back to warrior training. On this note, Brigitte approaches the idea about making camouflaged outfits for a group of scouts, maybe Terel's team? Best to wait for spring though, when the greenery returns.

The mushrooms were never stopped growing, but you can try to increase their growing rate and expand where they are grown. Madde could even garden them.

Not sure what you mean by border raiders though, but you can have more than just the warriors become familiar with the horses. Indeed, a fair amount of the Lumpur women are, after Vegita and Mari's actions in domestication work with them.

Lastly, you consider appointing a proper midwife, now that you expect there to be a small baby boom in the coming months. Who though, should do it?
>>
>>293248
>Lastly, you consider appointing a proper midwife, now that you expect there to be a small baby boom in the coming months. Who though, should do it?
Maybe one of the Forest Border women? One of the domestic specialists, or the herbalists? Whoever seems more suited? Or we could have a meeting to see who in the tribe is most talented at this sort of thing
>>
>>293267
You gather the people with what you figure to be the relevant skills. It seems incidentally enough that Rowena is the most skilled at assisting in childbirth, but is ironically herself pregnant and suspected to deliver this week. The next best suited would be 19 year old forest border domestic specialist, having learned from their tribe's midwife and assisted in a few deliveries when they were still a functioning tribe.

Also on a weird but related note, you know Madde to be a domestic specialist, and learn that she too has midwife skills. However none of the women feel comfortable or willing to let her perform such duties solo, so it doesn't matter much in the end.
>>
>>293345
I would say give the job to the 19 year old, gives her some training from Rowena and Madde on what to do and such.
>For a name, I think other Anon's can think of a better name then I could.

And for the horse thing, I was talking about one girl/guy have their daily chores turned to horse care, maybe learn how deliver a horse baby?

Send out of Terel and his party out at the first sign of spring to map the sourrounding area.
>>
>>293432
Right, the 19 year old will become the official midwife, to be trained by Rowena and Madde.

The horse thing sounds fair, and you figure Mari can pick out a pair of raiders to be the tribe's proper horse tenders. They'll learn from her till they're capable on their own, including what to do if a horse is delivering, which she is experienced with.

Terel also is getting cabin fever meanwhile, and decides as soon as the weather permits, he'll head out to properly chart the area. In actuality, I'll also make an updated map when I get the chance, probably later today or tomorrow depending on where you live.

Lastly, Rowena finally has her baby, a healthy newborn girl. In this instance since Rowena was obviously occupied, and the 19 year old was just given the job but hasn't had the practice yet, Madde takes over delivery duty. You'd think her size would impede her, but with the 19 year old assisting and learning, and some skills that even Rowena isn't familiar with, she helps deliver the baby successfully and with relative ease on both the mother and child. Although Rowena was uncomfortable having Madde help in the matter she didn't want to risk anything with her delivery so reluctantly accepted, though Madde's skill was enough to settle her misgivings. Of note that this is Pipin's first child and though the responsibility weighs on him, he is also enamored with the experience and his wife. Their bond greatly increases as a result, and the tribe gains another member.

>What to do moving forward? Faun is expecting her delivery soon as well, and not long after that several other women of the tribe. There are plenty of pressing matters in general to attend to however, on top of an increasing population. Winter is winding down now, you don't expect more than a month left, before the snow starts to recede.
>>
>>293504
Try to push her as hard as you can.
>>
>>293504
Can we please get an update on the most pressing matters? :D
>>
>>293504
In light of the xoming wave of births I think we should;

1) Prepare for the births by building a nursery, producing some baby clothes, making some of the nomad child carrying harnesses and generally preparing.

2) The tribe should be celebrating the coming births, let us party for the birth of the next generation.

3) In light of the agressive intent to attack us by the forest raiders, I feel we should attempt to enhance our defenses to new hights, to train with our bows, shields and spears.

4) I also wish for us to begin construction of the mill, placing it at the top of our secured hill might be wise.

5) We should send a trade group out to the surrounding tribes, primarily the city people.
>>
>>294357
I agree with all of your actions but 4 and 5 won't be able to be done for one or two more turns.
>Still trade and the mill should be frost priority once spring has sprung.

Start remaking the shields, giving them a long rectangular shape with a curve. Like the Roman shield.

Everyone tribe member of fighting age man or woman should be given a spear and shield for slec protection.
>Mari and Konah go around giving everyone a quick class on how to use the shield and spear. >Maybe Konah could approach the one Raider she likes but she just stumbles and falls face first.

Becasue winter is about to end we should discuss who's trade trip will go first?
>A trading party to the northeast, to the purple city and having enough people to defend agasint the raiders as well.
>>
Alright I'm back, had to do some work for awhile. Will read over what's since posted. Will also make the map after responding.
>>
>>293661
Push who?

>>293800
The most pressing matters really depend on you as the player. However, the most frequent suggestions have been military preparedness for the spring if the raiders come calling, completing the wall, making a granary and mill, and making the docks larger to accommodate water based trade.

Those are pressing matters on the tribal level. On the personal level is the usual demographic imbalance in both gender and different cultures, trying to keep everyone happy, and also balancing work now that fewer people are able to work and perform duties due to having children.

>>294357
A place for the children to congregate is possible, but by the available health standards of the tribe, a nursery is not possible unless you specifically dedicate enough tribe members to the full-time work of early childcare. Otherwise, the babies will be taken care of by their mothers to a certain age. This impacts their productivity, but at least ensures they will be healthy and nurtured properly in the first years of their lives.

Either way, you make it a practice to celebrate births which is a pretty common tradition among most tribes. However while it does increase tribal unity, it has the side effect of decreasing happiness. At least of some involved, seeing some people happy and having children and families, while they are stuck alone. Understandably, this mostly applies to the women.

Militant practice continues unabated, and now as winter winds down it is easier for more people to join in and also for more rigorous training to take place. Defensive fighting is a particular focus.

As for the mill, you can't really put it on top of your hill. Or at least it wouldn't be efficient. If you really want to you can, but anyone with farming skill knows it to be a better idea to build the mill and granary near the farmland so work and transport is easy.

In looking to trade when you will be able, is there anything in particular you want to trade or trade for? Or just general goods?

>Cont.
>>
>>294391
You keep in mind what the priorities are when winter ends and regular work can continue.

Shields can be made larger and curved like that, but will have to be made of wood and thus be less stable or directly protective.

Meanwhile you double check to make sure everyone has the means and arms to be able to defend themselves. A spear and shield are the standard, while plenty of people choose to arm themselves more. Very basic training with these arms is given by Konah at least since Mari isn't that kind of fighter. During this time Konah makes an effort to approach and ideally teach the forest raider fellow she has feelings for, but doesn't make it all the way and falls over herself to get to him. Terribly embarrassed, she gives up and leaves it for some other time.

Finally, it's to you to decide the specific details of the trading trip, and as said before, what it will be trading for.
>>
>>296260
Just a thought. If we had of kept those squatters and then decided to use them as our trade goods (ie: Slaves) would that have worked?
>>
>>296300
It all depends on who you would be willing to trade with in the region (the most common slavery practitioners being the purple) as well as who you'd be willing to trade and how you'd capture them.

It's a possibility but would have taken more work than you spent just to drive them off.
>>
>>296380
Is it warm enough to do some logging and building and such?

Ok here's a bigger map, will follow with a legend.
>>
>>296621
So the dark green lined regions represent forest, the light green lined regions represent plains. The dark humped region represent hills leading up to highlands, leading up to mountains. Also the dark lines in the forest region represent cliffs. Blue is water with lines rivers, circles lakes. At the bottom left corner where the dark blue line is, represents the coast line.

As for tribes and people,

>Red X is you, the Sanger.
>Purples are the purple tribe, with their outposts you know of and the city the big square.
>Pinks in general are forest people, with the pink X being the Lumpur remnants, the pink triangle being the forest raider encampment, the pink + sign the tree-dwelling tribe, the pink upside down ? being the bear tribe, the dashed pink broken circle being the region of the forest hunter/gatherers, the pink square being the cliff tribe, and the solid pink dash on the north west river being the dam tribe and the two smaller tribes that serve them.
>The orange upside down triangle is the highlander tribe.
>The brown symbols in the southern plains are different plains tribes.
>The yellow full circle are a coastal tribe you've only heard about.

Not pictured because I forgot, were the Linwood, who should be a little beyond the lake the Sanger are at, along the north west river.

>>296518
If you care to devote the effort to it, you can get a small logging team to do a little work outside the fort now. Productivity is still low however, and you need to rotate people for it.

>Otherwise, Faun has her baby, another boy. Rowena is able to act as midwife this time with the 19 year old girl assisting and learning. This marks both her and Uru's second child. As before there is celebration and anticipation for the other babies soon to be delivered, but still some people are unhappy at not being able to share the same experience.

Actions moving forward? You're into the last month of winter. Soon the snows will start to melt, and signs of spring will come, as it becomes warmer. Or at least, not so cold that you can't safely leave the fort.
>>
>>296696
Eh, if it's the last week, Uru and Terel should start packing and making a trading party to travel to the tribe in the north east, looking for horses and carts.
>Let Terel pick a team if he wants one. We also could lone him the horse and cart if he needs it.

Our textile workers should start making more rope and fine fabrics for trade, do we know how to make carpets?

Vegita and Apar should start drawing up plans and clearing plots for building projects in the fort.
Maybe we make a building dedicated to herbs, remedies and tending to other bodily injuries/ailments?
>>
>>296929
In preparation for the coming of spring, Uru and Terel gather and pack supplies for trade. Terel already gathered himself a team of the other scout types. It might be slower going with the gear they'll be taking, but he figures they can handle it.

Carpets are a thing the tribe can make as well as other textiles. Faun in particular is quite good at making dyes and colorful fabrics which are very appealing to some. As expected though her productivity is low with two babies to take care of.

Vegita and Apra meanwhile, in the waning days of winter figure to start clearing and setting side land inside the fort for building. It's your choice how you use the land and for what, but you've got a fair amount of freedom with the larger wall now. One idea in particular is a healing house, something which the forest border folk had when their tribe was still around.

>It appears winter has given way as spring comes! The snows are starting to melt as the days grow longer and the sun is seen more often, and it rains rather than snows. There isn't the verdant green bloom of spring yet, but winter is on the way out now and people can safely leave the fort now and productivity can rise once again. Well, for the most part, women who are heavily pregnant or caring for young children will be hindered in productivity.
>One notable detail that the nomads are expected to make their return in the next few weeks, and indeed the nomads living in the tribe (except Faun) are looking and preparing to take their leave and return to their tribe. The only one who may have been a permanent resident, the 19 year old girl, you haven't given her a good reason to stay so she won't.

This also more or less marks the passage of another year, making it two since you first set out as a single survivor of a massacre. You've come a long way to say the least, but have done well.
>>
>>297012
The Nomads can go if they want, but hopefully we can convince some more to stay later on, also aren't they bring a work force this time?

Spring is here! so people all the foragers and hunters should be going out to replace what we lost over this winter. Rick and Rowena using this time to gather plants with the new Shaman and herbalist from the Border tribe.
Mari and Illeo with other people from the tribe looking for bigger prey like bears and elks over in the northwest. But look out for the bear tribe.

Terel, Pipi, Konah with language specialist, with Honey, leather, wine and some dry meats as a gift of good will to head north east to the mountain town.
>Try to remember everything you see, try to get anything we don't have already and get some horses.
>>
>>298685
Well they had only planned to stay temporarily, save for the younger girl who would have stayed longer if given a reason (like getting married or something) but if you want to accompany them you can find out about others coming to stay or a labor force.

Otherwise, spring is welcomed in! Everyone who is able (not heavily pregnant or taking care of a newborn) and has the appropriate skills, heads out of the fort to start foraging, hunting, and gathering. An eye in particular is kept out for bigger game, so that Illeo and the other hunters can get to work. All the while, Rick and the Border herbalist and shaman go looking for plants, Rowena helping but largely occupied with her recent birth and newborn.

Lastly, Terel and his team, along with Konah and the language specialist head out to the highland tribe with goods for trade. Pipin would go but after his wife just had a child, and a few other women are soon to deliver his other children, he remains behind.

>The nomads will be heading back next week, if you want to do anything with that. Otherwise, actions or interactions moving forward? Probably the best thing for now is to just focus on replenishing supplies and food stores, having gone through most of the tribe's stock over the winter. You can do other things as well though obviously.
>>
>>298799
I feel that we should give the leaving nomads a gift of some-sort and company them to their tribe, where we will ask around for anyone willing to come live with us (using their good praises to convince them) and to trade goods.

I think we should begin the expansion of the fields and orchards, backed by a refining of our extremely basic plows. Let us replace forest (remembering to keep the cut trees) with farm, that we might never hunger!

Also, I feel we should begin training for combat using bows, shields and spears again just in case the forest raiders try anything.

In addition, I say we should consider the creation of a bake-house, mill or healing house. However leaving these projects for later might be wise.

Lastly I think we should have a hunting competition; who ever brings back the most impressive kill gets a free night drinking the finest of our peach wine and relaxing.
>>
>>298799
If Apar is later stages of pregnancy Yuno should take over as city planner and head of construction. Leading the work forces to start chopping down trees and hauling stone to start building various things.

Rick should take this other shaman under his wing, teaching her to make wine, medicine and other Sanger lore.
>Her name could be Lori, she will be a temple Maiden for a while until she build her the medical building.

>>298866
I agree with everything here, I'd just add send some people out to build watch towers here and there to keep tabs on our land.
>>
>>299031
Well if it's just planning, Apra can handle something like that even heavily pregnant. Yuno can take over for the actual construction and raw material gathering though. Planning goes on for a food furnace building and the mill. The question that needs to be determined whenever planning a new building, is whether a building will be made inside or outside the walls around the fort. For the mill the placement is pretty obvious, by the farmland, but other things need to be specified.

Rick goes to take on Lori, and with Rowena take to showing her the ways of the tribe. Eventually she can probably manage the healing house.

>>298866
You figure to give the nomads some supplies to leave with (if you want a gift as well, be specific) and Uru will accompany them back. It will take about a week to reach them though.

As for expanding the fields, you have more than enough land without needing to cut down the forest for what it's worth. Either way, while increasing farmland and preparing to plant seeds, you work to better improve the plow you have.

An ongoing focus of course is continued practice of militarism, which was already being seen to before winter had ended so it's easy to continue it. Particularly now that actions outside the fort are possible.

>Cont.
>>
>>299622
Happenings!

The main tribe proper wouldn't know it, but Terel and co. while on the trading mission to the highlands tribe, are taken captive by them. You can give specific actions but currently they are being held in a house together, treated decently but prisoners nonetheless. The tribal translator wasn't able to make much success since highlands speak is a language she's only barely familiar with.

Uru and the nomads make it to the nomad encampment just fine, so that's some good news. If you want something from them while there, just ask/specify and Uru can carry it out.

After the hunting competition which Illeo wins by a landslide by tracking and killing a bear, some of the tribe while going out have started to notice what you would assume to be the bear tribals to the north. This coincides with what you feared, of the forest raiders showing up and harassing people of your tribe going into the woods. So far neither group has shown outright hostility or violence, but people of the tribe are obviously having trouble with them and a hard time.

On a separate note, another baby is born, to the 35 year old Lumpur craftswoman and Pipin.

>What to do? A few things to respond to, to say the least.
>>
>>299657
Well, first off, we can't respond to the captured tribe members for a little while now until we notice they should have returned by now. However we can continue to train for war.

Secondly, I have an idea but need a detailed description of the fort walls to decide if it is needed or even possible.

Third, I wish for us to begin construction of the mill, so as to allow for labour to be saved for other projects.

Also, I want us to process our resources into processed materials, goods and luxuries. Focusing on known valuable trade goods and things we are running low on first.

Lastly, I wish for us to buy any resources we can from the nomads which we can't gather ourselves and to ask around for anyone willing to live with us for a year or more, labouring with the tribe.
>>
>>299778
You can still give the captured folks actions and interactions though if you wish.

The fort wall is made of laid bricks, about 10 feet high and wide enough to be walked upon. This is however just the basic foundation structure. It can keep animals out but if attacked in force it would fall wherever pressed.

Whoever is able to between trying to gather food supplies again, turns their efforts to work on the fort. Something to keep in mind though that your labor force has decreased a fair amount, between women having children and people being turned to the fighting force. It's not nearly what it was say, a year ago, so productivity is at a lower level and it will take longer to complete projects.

You don't have to worry about processed materials, that's something people have been working on a lot even during the winter, in preparation for spring and expected trade. You can work on more, but you've got a sizable store of goods for trade already.

And lastly, you trade with the nomads for their usual exotic goods, as well as Uru asking around for interest in help. The nomads whom lived with you the past year speak well of your tribe, so the interest is there. After another weeks stay, the nomad leaders there let Uru know that 12 people are interested, the 6 men requested last year for labor and 6 women to go along with and help out, make people feel better at home. They'll be willing to depart with Uru at the end of the month when they leave.

>What to do now, based on the situation? An interesting turn of events that the northern bear folk who have been approaching, have crossed paths with the forest raiders with some conflict between them. So while it is a worrisome situation as both groups increase in presence and aggression in the area, they certainly are not working together.
>>
>>300035
Okay in light of your description of the wall, I shall go ahead with suggesting my plan; firstly people are to begin by digging a ditch around the outside of it and filling it with spikes (leaving enough space for step two), secondly they are to thicken the wall so that roughly one-and-a-half or two people could walk side by side along the wall, third they are to mount wooden fortifications to the top of the wall along with a "roof" to keep guardspeople dry.

As to other actions, firstly accept the men and woman of the nomads, explaining the standard deal of staying for one year before leaving with the next group (ignoring circumstances).

Secondly I wish for us to continue to work on the mill and to train for combat, primarily with bows and less so with the traditional spear + shield.

Thirdly I wish for us to create additional furnaces for the making of bricks, to help prepare for future projects.

Lastly, the captured members of our tribe are to find out why the highlands tribe is keeping them captive.
>>
>>300075
Well the original plan was always to expand the wall since only the basic structure has been made, however to make it a proper solid wall that would stand up to assault like you said, will take time. In short order though you can make the pit around the outside with spikes, and the wooden fortifications, that won't take long maybe a month a most.

Uru accepts the volunteer nomads and the usual deal of a year. He makes his preparations to leave with them at month's end.

Planning meanwhile goes on with the mill, however actual work becomes difficult when people are harassed by the hostile parties. You figure to station your group of warriors by them for protection, which does the job of keeping the others away, however they just move to harass other places of the village. You suppose they're trying to spread you thin and keep you from making much progress or further train in fighting. This also extends to people who go out foraging and are approached and bullied on the way back to the fort, including their gathered efforts being taken from them, physical assaults and even unwanted sexual advances. For now nothing too serious when compared to extremes like rape and murder, but it seems they're doing a good job in keeping people scared and reluctant to go too far from the fort. Your guess is that because you have not yet responded with outright violence or killed any of them, they too aren't willing to cross that line.

Extra furnaces is capable however, since it would be done within the fort. Madde supervises as she did with the first furnace, and begins the construction of three others like it. It's assumed that one will be for cooking and bread making.

Lastly, the captured trading group, prisoners of the highland tribe try to figure out more to what's going on. The language specialist woman is able to roughly figure out that they are doing all this, to figure out the kind of response your tribe proper will make. Basically gauging your tribal mood and sentiment, if you show up in force they'll know you're militant, if you show up with another trading group they'll know you're wealthy and not coordinated, and so and so forth, with whatever response you might take. Of interesting note, just as you did, they do recognize Terel and similarly want his talents for their tribe. Overall the prisoners are being treated well, but they treat him extra well to try to lure him over to their tribe, including showering him with fine food, gifts and even women. For now Terel is still loyal though, so it's up to you how he responds to this treatment and these advances, and if he accepts it.

>Actions and interactions for the coming two weeks? Tribal sentiment is worrisome as people are afraid of the hostile parties roaming about the land near the fort unchecked. Productivity for actions outside the fort also suffer as a result, though work inside the fort can continue without issue.
>>
>>300195
Well, shit.

First off, in regards to the wall, continue working on it using the extra furnaces to allow for the production of more bricks!

Secondly, I want us to expand our traps, focusing on non-lethal, capturing traps. These will help to secure our lands from raiding parties.

Third, ask the raiding groups why they are doing this, cause it is just kind of annoying. As to what the hunters and such should do. Rather than heading out over land use the boats to head away from the village to places they aren't able to follow.

Fourth, I want some of our finest troops to mount up on horses and to patrol around keeping the raiders back.

Lastly, I want the captured trading group to not respond to being lured away from our tribe and to try to convince them to let them go.
>>
>>300195
Holy balls, well Konah and Langauge specialist should try to tell them they come from a massive town with hunters of people.
>Act like we're from the Purple city.

But Tarel and co. Should reject the offer and just ask for trade.
>>
>>300253
Work continues on the wall, at an increased rate now that more bricks are able to be made and more people are able to work on it since doing pretty much anything else won't work with the raiders abound.

You aim to set up traps, a fair amount placed around the fort area. However to really get at the raiders would require going a ways out, under escort or no, and the northern bear folk are skilled enough after the first couple to find and disable the traps you set. You get some forest raiders, but since the traps are non-lethal their friends eventually just help them out.

You try to ask the raiders, and they say they're getting by well since your tribe is easy pickings (mostly women) apparently, and also retribution for turning their people away during the winter when they needed help. All of that, and their "tribe" is currently at peace with the cliff tribe so you're the next best target. The bear folk you also try to contact but they aren't too keen on it, and respond with violence being much more dangerous. A scuffle ensues where three of the tribe are injured and may have been killed if not to have retreated. In the small conflict though you get a better idea of them and against what the rumors would suggest they aren't actually bear folks, but people who dress in their skins and try to use fear tactics. One way or the other, they're obviously dangerous.

That's a good idea to the hunters though, they just start taking boats across the lake to hunt elsewhere. Overall it means less food because more time spent traveling, but at least their gains aren't plundered by raiders.

The warriors who are able to mount up, and though Mari has a hard time and often physically has to be stopped from killing anyone, they do a decent job keeping the immediate area raider free. Going farther out though, like the forest and hills beyond is unfeasible since it's too much ground to cover with too few people and horses. At least though the village is secure again so work outside the walls can continue.

For last, the captured group try to remain adamant about not defecting, though in trying to convince the highland tribe to let them go, they are simply met with the same reasoning that they are waiting to see how your tribe responds. They say though if no response comes, they'll consider your tribe pushovers and treat the prisoners with less respect. They're not to clear on what that means, but they insinuate that holding a bunch of women captive serves them little benefit when marrying them into their tribe would have roughly the same result, even if it's by force.

>>300334
That's a pretty good idea, but unfortunately they know who you are. Or at least, they know most everyone in the region fairly well so you stand out like a sore thumb to them as newcomers. Plus they say they're not particularly worried since on their number is quite large and on their home turf they claim to be able to fight off the purple city if push came to shove.
>>
>>300482
>>300334
Ah right, and Terel seeks to reject their offers and try to trade, but they ask what you have to trade. Considering they just confiscated what you came with, they have you in a tough position.

>Moving forward actions? Productivity is able to return to normal with the lower workforce you have, though food stores diminish as a few people hunting across the lake isn't enough to support the tribe. Some good news, that Uru will be returning with the nomad volunteers in about three weeks, and also another baby is born to the 21 year old Lumpur woman and Pipin.
>>
>>300482
Rick and Lori should start making more of this fire resin and fire bombs, Rick taking this time to tell Lori about the Lumpur tribe long ago.
>Burn these fucking savages, fuck the bear people, fuck the cliff people and sure as hell the Mongolian fuckers need to burn In the north but that's pretty meta.

Mari should start asking around about Koanh and wonder why they haven't came back yet? She thinks they may be lost or just taking a long time though. She start combing the area the the guards, killing any hostile raider on sight.

Vagita and some horse trains had the idea for the perfect anti-horse defense! Large sharp sticks, horses don't run into direct damage and if they do they will die almost certainly.

The captured group should try to convince the the people it would be better for them to let us go, start a good trade deal to get forrest stuff you don't have.
>They could be very rich if they let them go, but if they still say no, start looking for way to escape.
>>
>>300482
I should have mentioned the intent of the traps was that we'd then capture the caught people, well you win some, you lose some.

Okay, first off I wish for us to send another trade party out to the purples, the dam tribe and the pink tribe. They are to ask for mercenaries or willing people to assist in capturing the raiders.

Secondly, we are going to continue working on the wall, focusing mainly on the brickwork as we can add the wood stuff later but having the wall be able to resist assault is the primary goal.

Third, I want us to try to capture any raiders of either tribe we can, they will be given back immediately but all weapons, tools or supplies found on them we will keep in an attempt to make raiding us not a profitable activity.

Fourth, I wish for us to try to breed the horses and to continue with the mounted patrols.

Lastly I wish for madde to be sent to figure out why the trade party never returned, as she is quite capable of sneaking in and potentially rescuing them depending on how heavy the guard is.
>>
>>300507
More resin bombs are made as plenty are taken by the warriors. During this time, Rick imparts to Lori his knowledge of the Lumpur. With the bombs, the warriors go out and start slinging them that any hostiles they see. The raiders it drives off quite well, though the bear folk put up a fight, and three warriors are seriously injured. For the time being though it looks like you cleared the area of raiders and sorts.

Not sure what you mean by which area she starts combing, but she kills raiders she comes across happily. Vegita meanwhile tries to imagine how one would defend against horses. He figures the best method is a spike pit, however also figures maybe large spears would work? He remains skeptical however and questions why enemy horsemen would ride right into the spears, instead just riding around and making ranged attacks.

The captured group continues to negotiate for their freedom. Finally after enough whining it would seem to them, they make the offer that they can let you go, but to consider any possible relationship between your tribes void. If you beg and plead to be let go, they'll let you go but will label you pathetic. Terel however, they will not let go, and want him for their tribe for his skills. It's your choice to make though for the rest of the prisoners.

>>300538
Ah well, it wouldn't have worked as much anyway since they're traveling as groups so would just break or disable the traps to free their friends.

You don't have enough people to send out as many trade missions in this amount of time. Choose who you would like in order, and it can be done over turns. For the first I'll just assume the Linwood since they're the closest. They say they can lend a hand but it won't be more than a few people, like three at most.

Wall work continues though and well, however it will take a significant amount of time as it did to make the basic structure. With your increased brick production though, if focused on it can be completed probably by the end of summer.

In all the effort of driving them off with fire, you did manage to capture some of the forest raiders, 3 men and 2 women, yours to do with as you please.

Horse breeding with what you have isn't any further possible since all four female horses you have are pregnant. You expect them to deliver come summertime.

Lastly you dispatch Madde to the north to find out about the missing party. You impart the importance of stealth in possibly rescuing the prisoners, though she lets you know it will be harder for her in the highlands since she doesn't have a forest to keep to. At night though she should be able to manage at least approaching the tribal village.

>Based on this information and these happenings, how would you like to proceed? Of note that Uru returns next week.
>>
>>300958
Sorry, I fell asleep.

First off, the captured raiders are to be put to work around the village and helping with the wall.

Secondly, continue to work on the wall and to continue the mounted patrols (focusing on capturing more forest raiders) plus that one anons suggested firebombing.

Third, continue with plan "madde rescues the shit out of our captured people" while the prisoners should simply state that we will be coming.

Lastly, I wish for us to continue work on the mill.

Also a few questions;

1) How secure is our position, could we resist an actual attack from the forest raiders and bear tribe?

2) How many people are in the tribe, I have slightly lost count over time.

3) Are the raiders really that pissed off about the events during winter?

4) Your opinion on Brexit?
>>
>>301382
I'm not British but if America was in the EU I would vote you leave. It seems pretty expesive to be a member.

But maybe we should let's Maddr take the stealth specialist with Illeo all wearing como and carrying spears, shields, bows, arrows and some fire bombs.

>I agree with everything you said but get rid of the new girls and just keep the guys.
>>
>>301404
The plan is we keep the raiders until the beginning of winter, then we return them to there tribe. This has the following benefits;

1) Free labour for work on the wall, mill and anything else.

2) Less raiders to worry about for now.

3) Since we release them at the start of winter, they will be a severe drain on the raiders resources as they won't have contributed to the resource gathering.
>>
>>301429
That's seems pretty reasonable, it's gonna be hard to house all of the slaves and feed them, But with the nomads are coming next turn I think we could handle it.
>>
>>301613
Yep but it will be even harder for their tribe when we return them, as I don't plan on giving them anything but enough rations and clothes to get back. This means, since they didn't contribute to the food stocks of the raiders for almost all of the year they won't have enough to sustain them comfortably. It should be enough to get them to leave us alone or to begin a siege but we could take them in a straight up fight.
>>
I return. Reading responses.
>>
>>301382
You try to put the captured raiders to work though treating them like slaves-lite doesn't yield much productivity. Either way work on the wall progresses, though you are having labor issues now between trying to make up for used supplies and food, people processing raw materials (to make bricks for example) and actually building the wall. Not to mention warrior patrols, which you try to keep up but having them mounted isn't really feasible since it's getting far enough along that riding the pregnant female horses often will put strain on them. At any rate though the warriors manage to catch another four raiders, 2 men and 2 women. You put them to work with the others.

Madde makes it to the highlanders village, surprised by its size and number of people. Probably the main question that matters, in rescuing people should she use violence?

>other questions

The position is probably the most secure of the region, after the highland tribe. Currently the wall isn't strong enough to withstand a direct assault by a tribe, but with all the other countermeasures in place like the spiked pit and other traps, they will still have a very hard time of attacking. It's hard to tell with the bear tribe though, since you're not sure of their capabilities.

How many people in the main tribe? It says in the pastebin, but with the new babies it would be 73 people total including children.

It's less that the raiders are holding a grudge and more that their way of life is based around raiding and bullying other tribes. Currently at peace with their traditional enemies, your tribe is the next best for harassment, and you just happened to give them a reason by turning their people away.

For Brexit, I think if nothing else, it's a good show of democracy. Imagine some sort of similar situation vote in the US, such as to leave NAFTA. If even 70% of the entire country wanted it, it still wouldn't happen and there wouldn't even be any vote on it. At least England can do something like this, people can directly vote on it, and things will happen. For better or worse, that's democracy.
>>
>>301404
Illeo and the stealth girl can be involved but that would require Madde going back to get them. Also getting her weapons. It does occur to you though that Terel might be able to orchestrate the release of the other prisoners by pretending to accept joining the highland tribe, and then Madde (with potential others?) would only have to rescue him. Just a thought.

>>301429
As for keeping the raiders, you're going to have a hard time getting them to do much work if they are maintained as slaves, unless you seriously break them.

As for being a drain, well there's only like, 9 of them you have now, even if you do as you wish it won't be much a drain on the raider tribe.

>Moving forward, Uru returns with the group of nomads and helps them to get settled in. Will update the pastebin when I get the chance. You can give actions and interactions for the coming weeks, but the only specific actions I *need* are the situation with the highland tribe and the prisoners. Basically how you want to handle the situation with them, and how Madde will proceed if she does.
>>
>>303362
Madde is allowed to be violent but should attempt to extract the prisoners without alerting the highlanders that they are escaping.
>>
>>303362
Madde should stay very sneaky and look around for Terel, but if Konah is with them maybe they could escape on hores back.
>But if found she can kill the witnesses.

Stop working on the wall for now, focus on fishing and hunting small prey for now to build up our stock pile. Pipi with wolves also should be participating in the hunt.

Start cleaning more trees to make more fields and grass lands.

Terel and Konah should start planning a escape, if they can over power the guards and find 2 horses they could make it home!
>>
>>303649
>>303498
It's not just Terel and Konah though, there are 5 others besides them. They two can try to escape but that would leave the rest behind. It will be tough for Madde to free all of them as such, but she'll still try.
>>
>>303683
Then who are all 5 of these people and what are their skills?
>>
>>303683
Okay different plan, madde is to stay around the highlander camp killing off those who wander away from there or go out hunting until she feels there are so few of them she could get our captured people.

She can move into the village at night and eliminate some of them but she mustn't be seen.

(Alternative plan, only to occur with the support of another anon; madde returns to tribe, explains what she saw, we get the raider and bear tribes to assist us in reclaiming our people( promising them all of the goods they can take from the highlanders))
>>
>>303743
It's Terel's party of fellow scouts from the tribe, as well as the language specialist woman. Gigi as well who went as a guard, so she and Konah are combat capable.

>>303755
There are around 100 in the highlander tribe, it will take Madde a very long time to slowly pick people off, and well before that time they would probably react. Or she can try to move in one night and take on those she encounters in trying to escape.

Your choice though how to proceed, which plan you want to go with.
>>
>>303786
Fuck it she has permission to perform something along the lines of a far cry 3 stealth run to the prisoners and back.

Or to put it in simpler terms, kill the fuck out of everything but do so quietly.
>>
>>303798
Alright then, that's pretty clear. Having spent a few days on the outskirts of the village killing guard dogs, Madde waits for a misty nightfall on the highland slopes, and makes her approach. After getting the pattern of guard patrols down, she actually enters into the village, taking time and care to avoid detection and waiting, listening for anyone nearby.

Eventually she makes her way to where the prisoners are being held, having to kill a few people along the way but hiding their bodies well enough for now. She manages to make it inside and helps the prisoners free and goes over the path she took into the village. After a little difficulty getting everyone out and having to kill another few people, most of the captives are free and out of the village.

Only one remains captive, held separately from the others, Terel. The others say that he's being held in a proper house as a guest of one of the upper families of the highland tribe. They themselves don't know exactly where it is though, having only been told about it by Terel but never having left the building they were being kept in.

>How to proceed? The mission is mostly a success, and in a short enough time that nothing has yet been noticed or alarms raised.
>>
>>303786
Where is the Party being kept? Like what are the conditions and guarding and such.

Madde should scout out the area but head home to tell the tribe about these Hill folk.
>Also to get her gear and some Support.
>>
>>303871
Just keep on killing and have the now ex-prisoners equip themselves with some weapons, securing food for the return journey and begin dragging the corpses away so madde can just keep killing until either they are spotted or Terel is rescued.
>>
>>303909
To be fair, only two of the prisoners are proper warriors, and everyone is a little underfed.

A little specific on how you want to involve them, is the group actually going back into the village for these supplies along with Madde?
>>
>>303871
Well, we can't leave Terel behind because the mountain people will be mad once they find out we're gone.
Konah and the rest should arm themselves and hold out in a good hiding place out side of town.
Madde should continue looking for Terel still trying to be sneaky and careful not to fuck shit up now.
>>
>>303933
Maybe Konah can give some support, I don't think Madde could do this all alone. Also Konah can ride a get away horse/cart once we find him.
>>
>>303917
The plan is this;

madde continues moving through the village eliminating anyone she can while generally making for where terel is thought to be.

Meanwhile the ex-prisoners move the corpses of madde's kills into tents and shit, take a weapon each (just in case) and generally scrounge up what will be needed for the journey back.

If madde is detected by the tribe they are perform a fighting retreat with priority being getting away more so than wounding any enemies.

Once, or if, she has freed terel they are to retreat setting the village on fire as they go and generally just wreaking havoc but they aren't to engage in combat unless trapped.
>>
>>303991
Maybe Madde should take one person back to the language specialist to find out where Terel is?
>Also they have horses so let's leave with out a sound.
>>
>>303933
>>303950
>>303991
>>304051
After arming themselves to be able to hold out if need be, most of the freed prisoners wait outside the village while Konah and Gigi return to find supplies, and Madde goes to look for Terel.

In separate situations, Konah and Gigi find some houses near the edge of the village wall (it's short, mostly just to mark the boundaries) which they can try to raid for supplies, or continue to look for a proper storeroom.

Madde meanwhile makes her way through the village again and figures the well off tribe members will be towards the center. It becomes harder for her to avoid being noticed the farther into the village she gets, but her heightened senses are a great help to be able to hear or smell anyone coming. Eventually after searching around she finally notices a few buildings that have a second story. Traipsing between buildings she quickly peers into each one and finally locates Terel. He is in a second-floor room with three women, they're busy talking while he sits, eating something.

>What to do for both separate groups?
>>
>>304111
The ex-prisoners should gather from the houses.

Madde should listen in, if it sounds like terel is in any danger then go loud, if not however then she is to slowly kill / clear a path out of the village for them to escape along.
>>
>>304242
If the freed prisoners gather from the houses it will get loud. They'll basically be going into sleeping people's houses and taking their shit.

As for Terel, Madde could just carry him out of the village if the need is to escape as fast as possible. The question is how to reach him though, since she can't fit inside the house he's in, at least by the normal entrances.
>>
>>304249
Okay, here is what is going to happen madde will get terel using the window as a entrance if need be!

Meanwhile the freed prisoners run in, kill the sleeping people and grab their shit before heading back towards our village.

How many of their tribe have we killed?
>>
>>304272
So far, 6 have been killed. So are you content to kill the house inhabitants? No mercy to age or gender?

As for Madde, the windows are too small for her (except like, to fit her arm in) but she can break in through the roof if need be.
>>
>>304249
Madde should cause a big fire on the far side of town, grab Terel and make a run for it.
>Meet up with everyone else and run home.
>>
>>304283
Why in the hell would we have mercy? Death to everyone! Kidding, if they can't fight back they don't need to die.

Madde has basically free reign over her actions at this point, so long as both of them make it out okay.
>>
Jesus Christ! We should have come with Mari and the army!

I vote for Madde to pick up Terel and run... Let's get out of this freaking mess. Kill anything that interferes.
>>
>>305307
Maybe so, but what's done is done!

Madde has the idea to cause a distraction and finding a torch, chucks it at the roof of some other building causing a fire. Afterward, she climbs on top of the building Terel is in, pulls apart the roof and reaches in to grab him. The women inside scream and run away, but Madde is able to lift Terel out, and then carry him in her arms as she sneaks as quickly as she can out of the village.

She shows up around when the freed prisoners have raided the nearby houses. They ended up killing a few men sleeping or while waking up, but got some few supplies for the trip back.

The alarms are raised as the fire builds in the distance and panic begins to spread and the village grows in activity. The group take this as their sign to leave and do so, heading back down the hilly slopes and aiming for the forest. It will take a few days before they get back to the main tribe, if you wanted to give them any actions along the way.

>Otherwise, play can resume with the main tribe and weeks at a time.
>>
>>305698
Perfect operation everyone, in future this shall be thought of as the golden standard of operative retrieval.

As to actions;

1) Work on the wall, the wooden fortifications on it and such. Make use of our slaves.

2) Continue horse patrols (except for the pregnant ones, who should be protected) to keep the raiders back. They have permission to wound, capture but not to kill.

3) Gather as many peaches from the island as we can, produce as much wine as we could store in as many barrels as we might be capable of producing.

4) Expand our stables for the additional horses.

5) Finally, train with our bows, spears and shields some more.
>>
>>305758
Get to work slaves! Wall work continues. You divvy work between brick laying and wooden fortification making, so things go quite efficiently. Well, the slaves don't work much, but otherwise.

Horse patrols continue, though it seems for now the raiders have withdrawn.

Peach gathering continues, and wine making is steeped up. It will take some time to end up with drinkable barrels worth but the production rate is high.

With the new horses to come around summertime, you figure now is the opportunity to start expanding the stables. Work is thin though, so you won't be able to get much done. The warriors for example, are busy training.

>What to do now? Some good news and bad news, a group of 30 people all on horses show up from the highland tribe, politely demanding reparations for what you did to them in freeing your people. They got the measure of you from the escape, and now they're acting. The good news is, another baby is born to the Lumur fisherwoman and Pipin.
>>
>>305821
First, ask them what they want

Second ask why they think they deserve it

third begin standard siege behaviour, pull live stock back behind our fort's walls, move food stocks and such. Just to be on the safe side.

Also, forget all other jobs and focus purely on getting the wall finished, even ignore hunting and fishing to get it done quicker.

Here's hoping this doesn't turn into lumpur 2; the electric boogaloo
>>
>>305821
Send some trade ships to the Purple trade post in the south looking to trade for food and preserve as well as more horses.
>Send Wine, Honey, seaweed and some medicine for trade.

Terel should tell us all about these people he know, from houses, to roads, ending on the horses and normal life style.

Vegita should come forward and talk about his anti-Horse defenses, large wooden stakes aimed outwards. It won't stop people but no horse or cart can pass.

I don't think we should stop hunting, but turn to fishing, start fishing in the river with nets and spears, collecting seaweed and whatever else is in the river/lake.
>>
>>306133
The point of not hunting / fishing is to accelerate the construction of needed defences. This is because the wall will not resist an actual assault (assuming they get to it) until they are finished. As to your idea with terel I support it.

(Now I have a plan to deal with the highlander tribe, we gather the support of the raider, bear, pink and purple tribes. Promising them the right to enslave and loot a large portion of the village each. Plus receiving some pay from us. This would greatly strengthen our armed forces but would be expensive to maintain and would result in less reward in the form of slaves and loot from the highlanders.)
>>
>>305903
They said they want reparations after you set a fire, raided some houses, and killed some people. They don't think they deserve it, but they say they'll return the favor if you don't cooperate. Also they mention something about a monster helping you in your escape, and insinuate that you're lucky they haven't told anyone about it.

In preparation for a siege in case though, you recall anything you can inside the fort. Work is also focused on the wall.

>>306133
Trading is going to be difficult at this time with as many people out of commission or busy on the wall. Still, you manage to send out one ship for trade which is well met, though in asking for horses you are told it will take time.

Vegita speaks up about his defense against horses meanwhile, which is well received, and will be implemented if the need arises. It will take a little time to make spears as big though.

Fishing is something you can do and do well with so many Lumpur, and it not being a particularly strenuous activity so even women with newborns can do some work.

>>306182
With such a heavy focus on building the wall, it's true labor is short. However, women with newborns aren't going to be able to perform that kind of labor so fishing is a better alternative perhaps, to craftwork or something else.

As for gathering support from the other tribes, you're not sure of the feasibility. As usual the city folk are simply not interested. The Linwood (pink) tribe can only offer a small handful of people, and the bear folk you haven't tried to negotiate with after you repelled them. You can try though, you'll just have to be specific on how you interact with them, or frame a deal with them.

As for Terel's info on the highland tribe, he says their village is quite large to accommodate their large population, their style of building is stacked rocks and stone usually held together with mud or clay and supported by wood with thatched roofs. Their building style isn't advanced as masonry, but they have enough experience with it to make large buildings and even multiple floors. Their road system is pretty basic, just impacted dry earth but it suits them fine. They don't have walls per se (they have short ones to mark boundaries) but their buildings are strong enough to be individually fortified in an attack.

As said they are mainly a shepherding people, with flocks of what you know to be sheep, though they do dabble in some farming and hunting, and trade when they know and trust the people trading. As for horses, they do have a lot, you would guess enough at least for every adult and though their main use is to assist in herding, you can see they are mounted combatants as well. Their armaments are not too amazing but mobility would obviously be their biggest strength. Terel also knows them to have at least one retainer tribe, though there aren't many of them, but it's still a relevant detail.

For normal lifestyles, since their demographics are not as unstable as yours, most work is for the men or slaves, while women take care of the home and family.

Could you sum up our inventory and head count?
Like, how much food do a have, how much fire resin in stock, how many able bodies, current progress in the walls?
>>
>>306596
Sure thing, and I updated the pastebin for head count.

In approximations, if you stopped gathering all food today, you'd have a month's worth of food in storage. You've got enough fire resin for two battles you figure, and the walls are about 1/4 the way complete in the way of outer structure and wooden fortifications.

Head count you have 77 people in the tribe, 57 adults and 20 children. As for who is able bodied, by excluding children, pregnant or new mothers, and the elderly, the number is around 39. If you consider who are actually combat capable though, and could contribute to a fight, the number is around 25. It's also worth noting that about 10 of that number include the forest raiders, who although generally accepting of tribal life so far, you're not sure if you could count on them for sure in a life or death situation.
>>
>>306885
Well, hopefully we can make them attack us, a defensive war is the easiest, even easier with the fire resin.
Keep fishing, growing mushrooms and tending to the live stock in the fort.

Anyway, start putting traps, pits and some general obstacle in the forrest to make riding on horse back wlils he very hard.

Mari and Konah get majority of the military also working all the wall, even work in the night if we have to.

Other than that, Vegita with the help of Ril have the idea to make a long rope connected to the large spikes to pull them up our of a hiding place. Or at least try to quickly active a anti-horse defense.
>Mari is openly against any kind of horse killing and voices it anytime she can.
>>
>>307097
Before you take any proper further action though, you need to respond to the group of mounted highlanders, since they're basically rode up to the fort and made demands. Depending on how you answer them depends on how they act.
>>
>>307116
Sorry internet dropped off but luckily was able to get it fixed.

First off, what compensation do they want; food, trade goods, slaves or services?

Secondly, what made them think that capturing a group of our tribe in order to gauge our reaction was wise?
>>
>>307116
Well, I guess ask why to took our trade party captive and what kind of reparation where they expecting?
>>
>>307150
They want a number of people to replace the ones you killed, so 9. They don't care where they come from, if they're your tribe or not, but you have to supply them. They also want the "monster" that did most of the killing in the first place.

Secondly, they tell you that's their initial response towards everyone in the region, you were new so they did it with you. It's always worked well for them, and still worked well this time, it gave them a good idea of who you are.

>>307151
For them it's become sort of a tradition now, in capturing any first contactees.
>>
>>308330
We will supply you with only 5 people and tell them the monster was just their imagination, but our women do have strength and agility that can surpass any man.
>We can give them the raiders we have enslaved and try to tell them we don't have a monater.
>>
>>308427
We want trade but, but we are also very much stronger then our rescue team would lead. Just because we take pride in keep our citizens alive doesn't mean we aren't willing to fight for what's ours.
But that is here nor there, tell me, now that you did your test, what to do make of us? The simple forest dwelling tribe?
>>
>>308427
They say 9 or no deal, and they should be asking for more. Raiders are fine as far as they're concerned, go catch more for them if you wish. They also say you can lie about it all you like, but they know there is a monster with you, that multiple people saw it. Pretend it doesn't exist, but they ask what you suppose would happen if they started spreading the word about it?

>>308458
They are aware you want to trade, but they think they are still stronger than you claim to be.

When asked what they think of you, they laugh and say your tribe is dangerous, so they are acting accordingly. Certainly more dangerous than the other tribes around.
>>
>>308534
Give them nine raiders, state that the "monster" was gotten from the island in the lake under a pact by our shaman who sadly can't replicate it. This is because we "broke" the containment of it to the island by making a pact with it and that it now roams free across the world, that we don't know where it is.

Say that the contract was for it to "Find our tribe members and return them to us, alive, however necessary. Then leave us be!" So we can be certain that it isn't near here.
>>
>>308584
You hand over nine raiders, which is basically all the slaves you have.

You also tell them about the situation with the monster, which they seem to buy, though think you're crazy to boot if you're willing to go that far. They do say though if that's where you got the monster from, then they're going to check it out themselves or tell the bear tribe to do so for them, when they get the chance.

This is a little distressing, and though while you seem to have defused the tension with the highland tribe, it could be bad if they or someone else does start poking around the island. At least according to what Madde has told you, about others of her kin sleeping there.

>At any rate, you dealt with the problem for now. How do you proceed?
>>
>>308612
First off, ask madde if she remembers why she was buried there and who the other two might be?

Secondly, continue work on the walls.

Third, expand the farms, improve our plows and restart work on the mill.

Forth, prepare for another hunting festival; same reward as last time. A keg of wine for the biggest kill.
>>
>>308633
She has difficulty remember exactly what happened, but says she was driven to the island with her kin and their supporters, till eventually they were imprisoned there. When asked about the other two, she says they were acquaintances that she happened to end up gathering with. She knows the basics though, two men, one an artist and one a builder. She spent about a year with them while they were all on the run, and got to know them a little. When told about the situation with the highlanders, she believes they may end up disturbing the other burial mounds which would awaken the other two from their sleep.

Otherwise, work continues on the walls, with a little more urgency now that the living situation in the area is under threat. Whoever can manage devotes effort to farming, including bettering the plow. Work on the mill though would detract from the wall, it's possible to do both at the same time but would cause both to take longer to complete.

Lastly, another hunting festival is prepared. You consider it a good time, now that for at least the time being, hostile outsiders have been driven off. Best to capitalize on the situation and bring back up food levels.
>>
>>308612
Holy shit, why did we never ask Madde if there was more of her kind sleeping? Go out that night to take anything important and wake up any more of her kind before anyone else gets there.

Ask Terel about the bear tribe? And why should we care about them knowing about Madde?
Lastly, ask Mari if her and Konah could steal some horses and shit for the mountin tribe?
>>
>>308691
We knew two more were sleeping there. I wish to have them awoken, the easiest way to do that was to force the other anon's hands into supporting me.

But yeah we need to head there and have us open the tombs, let madde do the actual talking.
>>
>>308691
She was asked about it before and told as much, though she expressed some trepidation about waking them up, since she wasn't sure how they would react and what would happen. She cited her own case, and how long it took before she was friendly enough to be approached by the tribe. She can't say how the others may react, or what could happen.

Knowing this, do you still want to go there with the intent of waking them up?

Terel is asked about the bear tribe, he doesn't have much more information than he gave you before. That they're kind of secretive, protective of their lands, utilize tactics and appearances to stir fear in people, and according to rumors live and lie with bears. He has no idea though, why it would matter if they knew about Madde. Well, other than that, it's a fairly safe assumption that most people knowing about her would be bad and draw negative, hostile attention. You wouldn't want to be in a situation where everyone in the region knows about her and knows she's part of your tribe.

Mari and Konah figure they could steal horses and stuff from the mountain tribe. Konah believes they could probably sneak some stuff off, while Mari has the cruel idea to try seducing one or more shepherd boys or girls and luring them away with their horse(s) and flock. Both ask though if that's something you want to do, after the exchange with the highlanders was settled relatively peacefully?
>>
>>308735
Gentlemen, I have a cunning plan!

Ask madde to dress the group going to the island like what their servants / supporters looked like. We will then go to the island, set them free and leaving madde behind for a day to explain the situation to them, we then return and take them to the village or let them leave if they wish.
>>
>>308735
Mari and Konah have permission to make the trip, Mari can seduce a shepred boy but don't get caught or seen. But try to steal some horse and other stuff with out being seen.

Rick and Gigi should travel to the Linwood tribe to ask them if they have approached the bear or mountain tribe before?

Other then that, keep the wall going, it will be a shining example of our power and engineering capabilities.

>Yeah wake the other 2 up, do what >>308795 said
>>
>>308906
Wait, scratch the plan, don't go rob highlanders.
>Lets not ruffle fethers for awhile.
>>
>>309423
Well I'd already started writing it, but to be fair I'll just frame it in a way that doesn't make too many waves.
>>
>>308795
You decide it's worth the risk to wake the sleepers, rather than let someone else disturb them. Asking Madde to help, she agrees but wants you to be sure of the risks. As for dress it doesn't really matter according to her since getting the old manner of attire would be too hard, and she can rather simply explain that times have changed.

Either way, a few people go with her to the island that evening and under her direction (since she cannot herself do it) disturb the other two burial mounds. Inside much of the same is found, old weapons and trinkets as well as wicker mannequins bearing jewelry. The people involved choose not to disturb things more than they have to however, and with the task done they are free to leave. Madde stays behind obviously, and Illeo and Pipin stay with her as examples of friendly humans. Illeo in particular, who can somewhat speak the Stranger language.

>>308906
During this time, the go ahead is given to Mari's plan, to be handled with care. After some time spent observing the outskirts and seeing who goes to pasture, they pin the schedule of a shepherd boy. Mari sneaks up on and approaches him in a painfully obvious manner of seduction, bare-chested and pretending to be a more primitive wandering wildwoman. Over a few days she lures the poor lad into falling for her or at least drawing his inexperienced attraction, enough to where she can get his guard down with an attempt at physical intimacy. With his guard down she overpowers and subdues the boy, tying him up and slinging him over her shoulder as she gets on his horse. Along with Konah's help, they lead the boy's flock away with them.

In the process, the pair of them gain a highlander boy, his horse, and a small flock of sheep, 2 males and 6 females.

Meanwhile Rick and Gigi go to the Linwood asking about either tribe. They say they personally hadn't met the highlanders before, but they know the Lumpur to have, and from what they heard it was a similar case of having a greeting group temporarily kidnapped. As for the bear tribe they are fairly familiar and have been attacked by them before when wandering into their territory, or being retaliated against when they drove off or killed bears that came to their camp.

Wall work continues!

>Cont.
>>
>>309449
As for the island, a few days pass till one of the sleepers emerges from his burial mound, followed by the other a few days after that. One after the other, Madde makes contact with and gets to knowing and explaining the way of things to the sleepers. Illeo and Pipin are a good help to have, if only to serve as examples for Madde to use and show how she's already made contact with and aligned with some humans. The process takes about two weeks, as the five of them spend days and nights on the island, mostly with Madde getting the two awakened up to speed. Speaking in their language, Illeo is able to make out some of what is said, a notable amount of it based around worrying about safety or something like that, and a recurring intent to go into hiding or something akin.

Eventually though, Madde and with some help from Illeo, is able to convince the sleepers (with some difficulty for sure) to try to accept the tribe. They aren't interested in coming to live with you yet, but they also agree to not just leave. Although it isn't said, Illeo and Pipin get the feeling that a large motivation for this is Madde herself, likely her being female. You don't assume there to be likely any other Strangers just wandering about in the world, so for their population to be limited to just 3, it's probably not wise to abandon the only female if there's any idea or hope of rekindling the race.

Whatever the case, they agree to remain on the island for now, and similarly are intrigued by the goods you offer them. You remember Madde being particularly fond of the honeyed peach wine, and so too are the sleepers. Probably a good first step, if you have any motivation to get them into joining the tribe.

>How to proceed from here? Spring is a little over halfway through, so planting for harvest would be good whenever you manage. In other news, another baby is born to Apra and Uru.
>>
>>309459
Hella, that turned out much better then expected, mostly with the robbery but I wonder what you originally wrote Dudecles?

Anyway, Madde and Illeo can stay with the Sleepers on the island for awhile, but they should told there is a secluded part of the fort they can live in full safety from anyone.
Well, I guess give Mari a metal and let her keep that new Mountain boy for interrogating for doing such a great job.
>Take the sheep, start to study and breed them inside of the fort until we have more.

Take a break on only doing construction, start sowing seeds and tending to our fields before its to late. Start hunting and fishing to build up our stores and send a trade ship to Dam and Pink tribe to gather workers to help with the hunting and construction.
>Start planning a being of fall festival as a payment for the workers.
>>
>>309478
Originally wrote about what?

As wished, Madde and Illeo take to living on the island with the two male Strangers for the time being, though they appreciate the news that if they wanted to they could remain secluded in this tribe they're expected to live with.

As for Mari, though it be cruel she doesn't actually have feelings for the captive boy, even though he clearly has a young boy's crush on her. He's merely kept captive for now under Mari's supervision, if he ever needs to be interrogated. She does use his help though as directed, to show proper care of the sheep. Particularly on breeding so you can get more ASAP.

For the time being work is halted on construction, and devoted instead to farming and building up supplies and food stocks. It's a welcome change for everyone, and in the meantime contact is sent to the Dam and Linwood tribe. While the Dam tribe isn't interested, the Linwood knowing it isn't for combat, contribute a fair number of people to help out. There are also plans for a festival, though you imagine one sooner than the fall would be better. Considering summer hasn't even started, that is.

>Moving forward, things progress well and for once there aren't really any negative happenings. No outsiders looking to cause trouble, no attacks or kidnapped people. A little peace and quiet, it would seem. Any actions to take? Some tribal interactions might be nice, given the state of things. With all the physical tribal improvements, the social, religious and cultural aspects of the tribe have stagnated for awhile. Also of course, the always looming demographic problems in the background.
>>
you people are FUCKING IDIOTS
you GAVE AWAY NINE PEOPLE
AND TOLD THEM WHERE TO GET STRANGERS FROM?

HOW FUCKING STUPID ARE YOU!!!!!

And now youve sent Madde to live on the island... where youve told your avowed enemies monsters can be found

fucking hell...

r.e.t.a.r.d.s.
>>
>>309713
Eh, once we can convince the other 2 strangers to come off the island, if anyone goes was to check the island, they will find nothing. Plus the 9 people where slaves so it's alright.
>It's better then going into war unprepared I guess.
>>
>>309713
>>309799
Also to be fair, the Strangers are fully capable of hiding themselves from outsiders with illusions. In an earlier thread, Madde had been doing so with an illusion to make a cave on the island appear as a sheer rock face.

If threatened or in danger, they can retreat somewhere on the island, hide, and wait till the danger leaves.
>>
>>309713
I'd really like some help with the quest, just me and the other anon making choices can be pretty troblesome it seems. What do you think we should have done?
>Also what to do next?

>>309489
Oh yeah I forgot, send a small ship with Rick and Gigi to gauge the prices of male slaves from the Purple tribe. If we can, get slaves from very different cultures.

Madde could pry more into the lives and history of the 2 new strangers? Very little is known of our new friends and it is a good chance for Illeo to practice her old speak and a good time to explore the island more in-depth.

Mari has a great idea to bring tribe unitity up, games! Like back in the winter a series of trails and games for the prize, the herding boy as a slave!
>Or his horse if you prefer.

Other then that:Uru and Faun should spend some time with their children by the river. Pipin taking the oldest boy hunting with his wolves. Apar, not being pregnant anymore, should have a small party with Yuno, Mari and Nali.
>>
>>309820
Rick and Gigi head on over to the purple outpost to figure out about getting slaves. It's a rough estimate, but depending on what you want the slaves for and what qualities you want them to have, with all the goods your tribe has up for trade you can afford roughly 8. Give or take depending on how you want them to be.

As for the two Strangers, Madde doesn't really need to pry since she was on familiar terms with them before they were all imprisoned. Their past history is not very different from her own, they were citizens with lives and roles, when their race went into decline they retreated and ended up meeting together. One, named Kellem was an artist and specialized in music, weaving and writing. The other, named Sedden was a builder and specialized in sizeable and complicated wooden structures, and stone gathering and shaping. Like Madde they both had lives and families before, but no longer. Similar to her they also don't want to just give up on life, but it takes constant convincing by her that they should trust and accept human help rather than leaving together and starting anew on their own. During all this time, Illeo is able to practice and learn her speaking of their language, and Kellem takes a liking to her due in part to Madde teaching her how to play an instrument and sing. In a somewhat odd display of adoration, he often carries her around on his shoulder as he wanders about the island, having adorned her in fine clothes with materials given to him by the tribe, and has her sing. Almost treating her like a pet songbird, as it were.

Mari meanwhile has the idea to revive the games, given the weather permits it. Various competitions, with the shepherd boy as first prize and his horse second. This draws the attention of at least some of the more... aggressive women of the tribe, having thus far not been permitted to marry and seeing this as a chance perhaps. What sort of games in mind? This will determine who is likely to win.

>Cont.
>>
>>309859
Lastly, tribal interactions. Apra having delivered her baby, wants to take some time to hang out with Yuno and Nali, her construction and city planning friends. Uru thankfully takes their baby from her to look after, and spends time with Faun and their children down by the river. Everyone is quite happy with the experience as bonds increase, and Faun in particular becomes less unhappy with the idea of Uru having another wife. Pipin meanwhile continues to bond with the eldest boy while hunting, and it's also a welcome break for Pipin who thus far had been tending to his wife and the other mothers of his children. With four newborns to be the father to, he's been understandably busy and stressed.

>Good progress is being made all around, particularly on the social front. As well, the crops and farmland are now taken care of, so as long as usual maintenance is done, you can expect a bountiful harvest come the fall.
>>
>>309870
That was pretty creepy of the Kellem to carry Illeo around, but if Illeo is okay with it I guess it's cool. But Madde and Illeo need to remind the two that they should stay out of sight and that not all people are accepting of them.
>Also, remind them they shouldn't really stay on the island for long with mountain people poking around.

But back at the fort, the second spring games will consist of a foot race, swimming race, archery, dull spear fighting and wrestling. This is a perfect way to make sure everyone is combat ready
After that, because all the farm work is done, Nali and Yuno can lead a team to start construction of mill in the field. While Apar will lead the majority of workers to finish up the wall.

Side actions:Some of the textile workers try using the sheep fluff and start doing patrols at night with dogs.
>>
>>309870
Continue work on the wall, improve our plows and do everything this anon (>>310061) suggested.
>>
>>310061
Well it's your call as to when you wish to invite them back to living with you. They may be content to live on the island for who knows how long, till you ask for them to come live with you.

As for the games, they are enacted, and many people participate which contributes to tribe unity and fitness. The winner ends up being one of the warrior raider guys to have won two of the four competitions. He doesn't want first prize though so takes the horse. Thus, first prize goes Irene who won the the next most. She's not really sure what to do with the shepherd boy though, or rather, what she's allowed to do with him since neither of them are Sanger and you've been pretty clear about relationships.

Construction work resumes, with Nali and Yuno planning construction of a mill out by the fields. They figure it will be able to be completed a good deal sooner than the wall, though in terms of construction it is more complicated so they are not sure if they can build it fully with the experience they have. Meanwhile Apra leads up wall work again, though since she just had a baby she can't be too physically involved.

Lastly, out of curiosity the sheep wool is tested out by the textile specialists who find it to be of possible use. Certainly it would make heavier/thicker but very warm and durable fabric. And of course, patrols are done at night now with wolves, since work outside the fort has resumed and you don't want it interrupted.

>With all these changes, how do you wish to proceed?
>>
>>310218
Okay, first off I want a concentrated effort to breed the sheep and to turn their wool into winter clothes.

Secondly, continue construction of the wall and mill but prioritise the mill to help process this years harvest.
>>
>>310218
Kellem and Sedden have a invitation to come to the town, but in a few weeks time Illeo and Madde have to come back to the tribe.
>Be careful not to get caught.

Irene seems she's pretty assimilated by now so she can do what she wants, have Rick make her officially Sanger so she can marry if she wishes.

Rick and Rowena have discussion with Lori about going over to the island to seem how the progress is going with the new people.

Side actions:Pipin sets out with some hunters to find a breeding pair of bores, build stables for the sheep and Leona with other Lumpur go back to fishing and collecting seaweed.
>>
>>310319
Well the shepherd boy is willing to help out with the sheep, and you get to trying to breed them as well as shear them with the scissors Madde made.

Wall and mill work continue but the focus is on the mill. You figure with this change in work focus, you can have both done before winter.

>>310342
Slowly the topic is approached about the two Strangers coming to live with the rest of the tribe. Over a couple weeks they eventually agree to try it, and return with Illeo and Madde. Things are definitely tense and uncomfortable though among the tribe and village, as people were just coming to accept and be ok with Madde but now two other Strangers show up and men at that. You figure for the time being to have them remain in the fort to limit fear and suspicion.

Rick permits Irene to be considered assimilated and allowed to marry. While it wasn't exactly what she had in mind or her reason for doing any of this, she hesitantly accepts it for the right to marry. Her feelings towards the boy are not that strong, but she figures it's better than having to share a husband with someone else, and certainly better than nothing. She'll get used to the situation for a couple of weeks before asking for an official marriage.

Lastly, Pipin and some hunters while out find and capture a pair of boars. They'll be a good addition to the growing pig herd you have already. A stable for the sheep is put underway, while the able-bodied Lumpur return to lake and river duties. Not all of them can because of pregnancy or child situations, but a fair number do. Enough to bring in a solid portion of food and goods for the tribe.

>Moving forward, summer nears as spring nears end. On the situation of the tribe, Kellem and Sedden might be a tentative situation on whether they belong yet, but they can be given orders and actions now.
>>
>>310410
Well, I think that we should work on the wall and the mill as usual. The builder stranger can help with this.

As to what else we can do, I think we should send a trade mission to the pinks and purples, looking for people willing to come and help with the wall and mill. (In the case of the pinks, see if any of them wish to come live with us)
>>
>>310410
Well, I do dare say we are in a pretty good position right now. Pretty good indeed.

I agree with the other anon, just keep the work on the wall going but the stangers should just spend some time in the fort hanging out and adjusting to the fort/tribe.

Rick and Rowena had a lot to ask these new strangers about their life and ways, but with the some fear of confronting these people, they simply ask Madde and Illeo what they know.

What's our live stock and food status currently?
>>
>>310593
Wall and mill work continue. The mill work in particular is greatly increased with the help of Sedden the builder and his skill. When he understands what you are trying to make, he creates a supporting structure plan for the interior which will allow the mill to be tall enough for a sail, when before Apra and Yuno weren't sure how to accomplish something like that. Although it might have been nice with his strength, he doesn't physically help build it though.

You also reach out to the city folk and the Linwood. For help building, they're both willing to lend a few people. Upon further inspection, there are two young couples of the Linwood who would be interested in living with you if you'll take them. They come married though.

>>310789
Not sure what you're curious to know about them other than what you already do. Madde and Illeo are fully willing to answer though if you had something in mind. They are slowly getting used to life in the tribe though, with Madde and Illeo being a huge help.

For livestock, it's roughly

>Around 20 wolves
>Around 20 pigs
>Around 30 goats
>Around 100 chickens
>7 horses
>8 sheep

Food status is recovering, you've now got about 2 months store, on top of what you currently gain.
>>
>>311066
Holy balls we have a lot more animals then expected, keep breeding pigs and sheep, if Pipin can, get some wolves pregnant so they will give birth around winter.

Now that Kellem is safe in the fort, he can go back to hanging out with Illeo as a song bird. If he wants he could talk to some out artisans and crafters.

Mari surprised Konah by tackling her and demanding they go on another night raid of the mountain tribe, Konah being pinned agrees to her demands.
>Side actions:Yuno, Sadden and a small team are tasked building the medicine hut, Terel start planning for a trip to the far east for trade and train some bee keepers to get more honey.

Sorry guys I just get over-excited some times! I have been enjoying this quest a lot, I think I'm becoming quite invested in the story of our little tribe! I don't mean to insult anyone please ignore me if I complain too much :D

As to what I think we should have done... When they asked for reparations I would have said 'molon labe' (translation: come and take them!) We could have defended in our fort where their horses would be useless..

However, whats done is done. I suggest we consider getting our revenge on this faithless tribe of bullies. As we saw, their practice on meeting new tribes is to kidnap their people? Not cool. They seem like a bad group of people and I am sure their tactics have not made them popular.

A few options for what we could consider doing:
1. Go around to all the other tribes we know, ask them if they disapprove of this tribe whose practice is to kidnap people from every tribe they meet. If these other tribes also dislike this kidnapper tribe, then maybe we can form a one-off coalition to sack their village.
2. Alternatively we can use guile: we can send a messenger group (with armed retainers to prevent kidnapping) saying "In honour of the successful reparations we invite you to a feast on neutral ground"... While at the feast we can encourage a festive atmosphere - but while they will drink our strongest wine, we will drink non-alcoholic wine/grapejuice. While this is going on, we can have Madde and the stealth experts go to their town and burn it to the ground. Then we can surround the feast campsite with soldiers and kill them all in their sleep.

Sound like a good plan? }:)
>>
>>312857
See that seems like a good plan except;

1) They out-number all the tribes in the surrounding area. Even including those who don't have any dealings with them.

2) One of the biggest of those tribes, the purples, won't get involved.

3) They have a shit ton of horses = Scythian horse archers in combat, they will destroy most other forces.

4) Their town can be easily defended.

5) We don't need to fight, nor would any of our allies.

I could list additional reasons but I feel that should be enough. As to your other plan, I doubt it would work or even be effective.

I like the attack plan, but I feel like you picked the wrong target, as the second Anon said the mountain people are a easliy defenable position and have a great population right now. We could send some night raids just to fuck with them, but any full engament and we would most likely lose.

So here is where I had a idea, the bear tribe.
The Pink tribe already doesn't like them and we know all of their tactics are based on fear and intimidation. So with formantion and discipline, we could easily plow right though their ranks end soldiers.
Once we get rid of bear tribes main army, we can make them into a vessel state or something else I don't care. But we will have all that nice forest land for building and hunting.

Husbandry with the animals continues, with a particular focus on the wolves. It's worth noting though that past a certain number, enough wolves will become very food costly to maintain and difficult to keep in a single area.

Kellem fairly quickly adapts to life in the fort when he sees craftwork is a big part of your tribal life and culture. He takes quickly to seeing the sorts of things you make and then helping out, he can make of the same quality but in a high volume, or very skilled craft and artistic works. Also with more than just Illeo he starts looking into who can perform in the tribe, for things like dancing and music. According to Madde, he's looking for a muse.

Lastly, in the manner of the raider ways, Mari tackles Konah and the two women wrestle for control. Mari exerts her dominance though and pins Konah who submits. With her attention, Mari demands assistance in another raid which Konah has to accept, though she wants to know the details. What sort of raid would this be?

On the side, work is begun on a healing house, with surprising headway made with Sedden's help. His physical strength is greater even than Madde, and the building is more or less completed in the two weeks that pass. Although he would have preferred to make it in his style, he follows your wishes to build in the style of your tribe. Aside of that, Terel plans for an easterly trip, and more people are trained in bee keeping for better honey gathering.

You figure to try to make contact with some nearby groups at least and see how they feel, sparing a couple pathfinders here and there for the job.

>The Linwood (pink) are neutral towards them, since any hostile actions like kidnapping happened many, many years ago. They sort of like you guys though, so could spare a few guys, more if you were able to create some sort of coalition.
>The Dam tribe are aware of the highlanders, but have never seriously encountered them so never suffered a kidnapping. The appeal of booty and raided goods though is worthy to them, so they're interested if you can whip together a coalition.
>The bear tribe, you try encountering on their own turf but they mostly retreat and harass you when pursued, resulting in some injuries.
>The cliff tribe you meet for the first time, a busy lot who are familiar with the highlanders and not big fans since they hold grudges over things like the kidnapping. They don't know or trust you yet to spare people and their main concern is if they devote people to the highlanders the forest raiders could attack them during that time, but a coalition would interest them.
>The forest raiders you don't even bother with for obvious reasons.
>The city folk as usual seek to avoid conflict.

>>313176
It's worth noting that the highlanders are an established tribe so their demographics are stable. That means that while their population is large, a relative number of them are too young or too old to be useful in combat, and from what you know of them culturally women have traditional homebound roles for the most part so they wouldn't make realistic fighters. If their fighting corps is mostly their able bodied men, they certainly outnumber you but not everyone around. If their population is in actuality around 120 people now that you spent time among them,

>Assume a third to be children and elderly
>Assume a third to be women in non-combat roles
>Assume the last third to be able bodied adult men, but at least some of them not combat trained, or at least not proper warriors

When they approached you in force they rode up with about 30 guys on horses, so by the numbers this would be more or less most if not all of their fighting force.

That's also possible. Going against the bear tribe would be difficult but clearing them out would allot you pretty much all of the forest north of your side of the lake. Also they seem to be the only tribe around that you know of, that would fight with or for the highlanders.

Of course you could always try other approaches with them, rather than just violence. They are obviously a strange and avoidant people, but that doesn't mean they can't be approached under the right circumstances.

Otherwise, beyond all this, moving forward what to do? Actions and interactions. You're now into the last month of spring for what it's worth.

Well, I would suggest we buckle down and try to finish our construction projects (wall and mill).

After that I would suggest we begin preparing for future expansion by establishing additional furnaces to raise our production of bricks.

We should also try to improve our methods of making fabrics and other such valuable materials so we can trade more / better goods.
>>
>>313566
Send our Language specialist, Illeo and Uru over to Linwood to find a way to approach the bear tribe, maybe leave some meat and let them approach like a cat?
>Ask Linwood how they would go about this?

Allow Sedden to work along with Apar in building the wall and helping with the stone hauling and collecting. We can let them use our 2 work horse if they need.

Mari says her and Konah are going this time to improve Konah's stealth, robbery and seduction skills. Mostly trying to steal as many horses, sheep or men they can get away with.

Side actions:Pipin start giving responsible people wolves as just normal guard animals, Faun should teach Kellem how to make find fabric and move Lori in the the medicine hut and start treating people.
>>
>>313623
Sounds good, focus remains on what you've been into so far.

On additional furnaces, where would you put them? The fort has a limited amount of space inside it for structures.

As for fabrics, you've already kind of maxed out what you are capable in flax production, though wool is new so you can experiment with that.

>>313784
You meet with the Linwood on how they feel best to encounter the bear tribe. They say from what they know of the Lumpur, the safest method was to wait on the outskirts of their territory, and wait for them to come to you. Having goods of course helps.

Sedden works construction, and impressive productivity continues due to his strength and skill. You figure if you continue at the current rate you may be able to have either the mill or the wall (your choice) done by the end of summer, rather than both by the end of fall. The horses are nice but he's actually much stronger than any one horse.

Mari and Konah meanwhile decide to embark on raider women adventures, and have the good sense to change their clothes and style so they seem to be from other places and tribes than your own. Mari borrows a horse and they ride off to the highlands together to camp out and practice on the relevant skills. The only question is, how long should they be doing this for before returning, how much should they be trying to get during this time, and how far are they willing to go? Are they willing to use violence if they have to, to get what they want? Are they willing to kill? This will determine the rate by which they leech animals and people from the area, and the rate of measures the highlanders will take against these actions.

Lastly, Pipin figures to give some of the more domesticated wolves to people who live together for guard and safety purposes. And it's actually Kellem who is teaching Faun and the others about textiles, his impressive skills more than their own and drawing amazement. Lori as well moves into the healing house to serve its purpose.

I guess we should have asked Rowena if anyone in the tribe knows how to talk to the Bear Tribe. Send a trade party with some guards to try to make contact.
>Language specialist, Illeo, Uru and some guards with meat, fish and honey.

Mari and Konah can be gone for 2-3 weeks, they are told not to kill anyone if they can avoid it, but they can if it's to stay hidden or,in defense.
As for loot, anything the two can get away with, Animals would be best, slaves and supplies are of lesser value but still nice. Other then that, they can do what they wish.
>>

The bear tribe speak forest talk, so most everyone in the tribe can communicate with them. Still, you send a group to try to meet them. They wait on what you believe to be the edge of their domain, till eventually the group sent start to notice them from the trees. After some time a few approach the group, whom you make contact with. They want to know why you're in their territory considering how your tribes butted heads before.

Meanwhile Mari and Konah continue their adventures. With a moderate amount of care, between raiding, kidnapping, and luring or seducing, after two weeks the pair of them manage to capture a woman who they rode up and kidnapped, another boy they seduced, and a guard who came looking for the cause of trouble and they beat up and overwhelmed. They also got two horses and 10 sheep. They are having trouble keeping control over everything though with just the two of them. The boy is pretty easy to keep under their finger with some light intimacy, but the woman and guard they have to keep tied up, and the sheep have a tendency to wander off.

Tell the Bear Tribe: We felt like we both attacked each other out of defense so we come here to settle our grudges. We apologize for previous if aggression and ask to start anew with some trade? We don't have to come into your forest, everything can happen on the boarder.

Mari and Konah can come back with all of their loot, everyone praises them for their bravery and skill! Konah, with her new fame, try again to speak to the raider guy who she likes.

Terel, Now with some surpluse of horse, should get together with Vegita to start packing and planning for the trip east.
>What does Terel and the rest of the tribe know about them?

Side actions: Kellem and Illeo go around trying to find more people to play instrument and Sedden start hanging/liking Apar more, who in turn, finds it slightly creepy.

>I had to go for awhile sorry Anon.
>>
>>315169
This seems pretty good, maintain the standing orders of building the mill and wall, etc. Focus is on the wall.
>>
>>315169
>>315273
They accept trade if you seek it, but from what they've seen they doubt there is anything you'd want from them. They say while they also are willing to bury the hatchet of the past, they aren't seeking peace moving forward. If you stay away from them things will be easier, but don't be surprised if they turn against you when the going gets tough.

After all, you are in contested rank with the highlanders as the top tribe of the region.

Mari and Konah meanwhile return with their stolen animals and people, to the celebration and praise of the tribe. Konah riding the high, and by now given permission, seeks the attention of the forest raider she's been interested in. They reach good terms, but she isn't able to make clear her romantic interest in him, while he doesn't seem to realize it either.

Terel along with Vegita plans for a trip east. He doesn't know how to ride a horse though so without training for some time, he won't be able to. As well, he would prefer to go by foot so he can go with his team. It's your call though. Not sure what you mean about "them" though.

Kellem with Illeo's help looks into introducing instrument practice and play among the tribe, himself able to make more instruments for people. Understandably it will take a long time, but he thing there is promise and talent among your tribe. Sedden meanwhile in his construction work takes a liking to Apra and even goes out of his way to spend more time with her. She isn't sure to what extent he is interested in her, and is creeped out that it might be romantic in nature. Partly because of the difference in species, partly because she is married and wonders if he isn't aware of that since as busy as she has been she hasn't spent much time with Uru her husband, or their baby.
