Two years after the Great War, Germany is humbled down to ruins; businesses went bankrupt, husbands lost their jobs, and inflation became worse than ever.
>In this quest, entitled Der Krieg, you take the role of a new small party in the German Parliament. With just eight members, your goal is to expand the party and conquer all the seats of Reichstag-- before a dangerous party led by Hitler will do so.
But first, name your partei.

I guess I could set up some kind of political simulator
>>262247
Well if you have an idea if how to accurately set up the simulator or make this idea work
>>262271
I have the rough idea of creating a map showing our nation, its electoral districts and our seats
Could use some work though
>>262357
I mean, that's pretty good. I guess we would just work out the kinks as we move along
>>262367
Yeah, we'd probably need a ledger alongside it
Where would our party have the most support? Is it local or national? What are it policies?
>>262409
I guess if this thing gets off the ground, each party team could create their own google doc or whatever to record plans and information

So OP still isn't back, should I continue with this?
>>265119

>>265968

Any lurkers here?

>>265984
lurking but don't see the need for everything to be in German
Also I'm a Liberal Democrat master race so slot me in somewhere.
>>266013
Each numbered region is an electoral district. There are ca. 50 electoral districts, which encompass 22 constituent states. Each district has between 8 and 10 seats in the Reichstag, as well as in their state's council. With more seats, you can make decisions for the Republic or a state.
>>266036
Are you German then or did you just research this?
>>266057
Took it all from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_federal_election,_1920 , with a few liberties.
OK, so what is our party's name?
Are we right-wing or left-wing?
Our policies?
Are we local or national?
German unification: yay or nay?
>>266036
Alright. That makes sense how it's set up
>>266149
Well I am the Conservative Nationalists. I suppose there will be others. I am far right. We want a limited government with economic freedom, conscription at the age of 18 for all males, a return to traditional values to the household, limited European immigration, and strong ties to the United states of America, and an Isolationist view of foreign policies
national but operate on local too, and we want more than just German Unification.
>>265984
Lurking/reading. This is interesting.
>>266202
Are you gonna join a party or just lurk
Alright, I've think I got it.
The Konservativ Nationalister (KN) and the Liberal-Demokratische Partei (LDP) are minor parties who have both won eight candidates in last years election.
But where were they won? Nationwide or in certain states? Do they support autonomy, or even independence for their states or a stronger central government?
>>266262
Our eight were won in Berlin and Baden and Pots dam. 3 for Berlin, 3 for Baden, 2 for Potsdam
The KN were lagrely successful in the areas around Berlin, mobilising large portions of the middle and upper classes with the promise of low taxes, isolationist foreign policies, and restoring the old Kaiserreich. You have also won several votes in Baden, putting yourself up as staunchly anti-occupation and campaigning for the end of the demilitarized zone.
But many question your policies. What does "more than just German Unification" entail? How will you lower immigration? What about the economy?
>>266310
To curtail the flow of immigration, we will create a Civilian Force trained by the Military to patrol the border and to man checkpoints. There will be severe punishments for illegal crossings and swift deportation. Any minorities wishing to return to their home country will be granted a amnesty period. There will also be construction around the border and we will take back the Rhineland.
>>266338
OK then. You have one year to start your campaign. The next elections are in three years. Where do you campaign and on what platform?
Also any lurkers are welcome to join
>>266310
As for the economy, we will have a low income tax and corporate tax, there will be no estate or death tax, and government spending will be on infrastructure and defense, along with miscellaneous spending in Utilities.
>>266360
We want to hit heavy around Berlin and the Rhine. We want to push Germany for the Germans, low taxes for all, a strong national military, a strong national identity, and a return to traditional values.
And the first elections are being tallied up!
The SPD and Zentrum have formed a coalition, claiming to represent centre-left values, closer ties with France and rebuilding the crippled economy with state-funded jobs.
The small KN party has made great gains in the Rhineland, and is not the largest party in the state of Baden. It will need a partner for secure rule, though. It has also gained movement in the border region of Westposen, which has been hit quite hard be immigration.
What are your next moves?
Can I join? And can anyone give me a speedy recap?
>>266544
Of course you can join man. We were just picking German political parties. They can be made up. Just lay out your general plan/
>>266567
I want to form the Germanic League for Civic Nationalism and the Destiny of the German People
GCNDG for short, we will focus on a centre-left platform based on civic nationalism and irredentism. Will be based strongly on grievances from the previous war and will campaign heavily in east-prussia for now.
>>266586
Oh wait, scheisse, cancel that, not East-Prussia, focus on Bavaria and the surrounding countryside instead. We will be working for farmers supplements and aids, to gather votes.
>>266528
I want to expand into Potsdam and continue in Berlin. I also want to set up shop in Franken, and push out tax reform there. And another general issue I want to push is the lack of Infrastructure. The KN wants a complete overhaul of the system with millions being employed.
Another thing for the GCNDG:
Our motto will be:
Bread, Betterment, Brotherhood
Brot, Better, Bruderschaft
Our policies will be to institute a social welfare program for the disadvantaged, to support farmers and the countryside, to organise the nations traders and companies by the town they originating in (effectively creating guilds), and to expand the rapid industrialization of East Prussia and the Rhine-land
>>266629
Thats pretty good. Seems like you really care for the "people"
>>266658
The unity of the german volk must be secured to fulfill our dreams of becoming a superior producer-state that have capable hands around our own economy. And an expanding economy is the first step to fulfilling the destiny of the german people and bringing us from the darkness.
>>266676
So then your immigration is "right" field?
>>266692
Most definetively.
A the year 1923 begins, the new labour policy of the government has started to bear fruit. Unemployment has dipped from 12 to 10%, yet the nation now suffers from a deficit, which it cannot afford due to war reparations. More money is printed to pay the bills.
A new party, the Germanic League for Civic Nationalism, or GLCN for short, has taken root in Bavaria. It is remarkably similar to the new Kn, so similar in fact that one of their MPs had defected to join the new party.
Elections are scheduled in 18 months.
Forgot ledger, not with political map
>>266730
To combat the deficit, I propose working with GLCN and having the farmers work with the government on increasing the harvest this year. As for the party, I want to Work in Hamburg and Brunswick Hamburg, and keep up presence elsewhere
Last update for today, got to go to sleep
The government´s money-printing policies have gone awry as hyperinflation ravages the economy. The Republic is at the verge of bankruptcy and has suspended paying its debts and reparations. In response, The French have occupied the Ruhr(dark orange).
The SPD's polls are now in freefall, and Zentrum's forner influence in the Rheinland has crumbled. In other news, a small putsch in MĂ¼nchen has been crushed, and its leader, Adolf Hitler, has been arrested. This has marked the end of the instability in Bavaria.+
Elections are in 6 months.
What is your response?
>>266962
I want to gobble as much support up as possible. I want to run a national campaign against SPD and Zentrum, blaming them for this national tragedy.
>>266780
The GLCN accept the proposal for the term leading up to the next election
And for this election, the GLCN will campaign heavily in the Rhine, and also heavily (but not as heavily) in Bavaria. We will focus on ensuring the rights of farmers like that the Zentrum would, and will go to campaign with a promise of rebuilding the German state into a unified state of production and agriculture that can remake itself into a stable economy.
Hey, storydriver, you planning on coming back?

Well that was late, anyway:
the elections have happened, and the DVNP seems a shoe-in. The Zentrum praty has disb nded, leading to many local partyies picking up the mantle in Regions such as Mecklenburg and Anhalt. To everyone's surprise, the GLCN carries WĂ¼rttemberg, and now exercises control over the state. The DVNP offers it a seat in its coalition.
Make your orders.

It is 1925, at last, and the economy seems to be in an uptick. As the disgraced SPD falls ever further in the polls, the citizens of your states start looking towards the future. What is your infrastructure program? How will you develop foreign policy? and most importantly, what will you do about the Ruhr? The French drain its resources each day, since you still haven´t resumed debt repayment.
>>269200
The KN plan is simple. We realize that to have Germany come to its fullest potential, we must make it modern. We will work with the people to create thousands of miles of roads, bridges, and rail tracks. This will open the country to better trade, transportation, and a better national defense. We will pay for it with bonds that the individual buys, and that we buy back with interest. This is not a government project, but a community project.
>>269200
As for the Ruhr situation, we only have one people to blame. The french. They put harsh penalties on us and when we don't pay, they invade us. We will get them out, no matter the cost.
It is July of 1925. You sit in your office when one of your party members runs up to you.
"Mecklenburg!" he shouts. "Mecklenburg has declared independence from the Republic!"
Sure enough, he is right. The Free Mecklenburg party has put Mecklenburg and GĂ¼strow into rebellion, threatening war if the Weimar republic does not recognise them nd give them their claimed territory, shown in orange.. Led by the former Crown Prince of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, they have over 30.000 rebels at their side, 5.000 of them Weimar defectors. compared to the Republic's meager 40.000 men.
As the leader of your party and controller of two states, what do you do?
>Raise a paramilitary (Will make you popular in states where you have influence, but make other parties dislike you)
>Remobilise the republic (Boost your poll numbers nationwide, but upsets foreign powers)
> Surrender (Country gets smaller, giving you comparatively more power)
>Other
>>269351
Oh lord. There comes a time in every country's life where it must decide which path it goes down. Today is that moment. A piece of our country decided to leave. This is unacceptable. A house divided cannot stand. Today, we, as a nation, are bringing the republic back to it's former glory and defeating the traitors in Mecklenburg. I am calling on any man that loves his country to join bring the republic back.
>>269445
As a servant of the Republic or chairman of the party?
>>269485
Chairman of the party. Of the people.
Germany demands unity for the liberties and destinies of the german people! The rebels have a week to lay down their arms. The leaders will be arrested and tried for high treason, and the ordinary folk will have their guns confiscated and be led back home. Kill anyone who still bears arms in the region against us, and refusing caving in to the scoundrel who stand against the german people!
It is the middle of August, and the Republic has failed to mobilize. While the army has managed to group together a pithy 20.000 men, your party has mobilized 25.000 of its members, along with 10.00 volunteers who share your vision of a Germany unified. They stand before you, the trees behind them looking ever so slightly more yellow than yesterday. Autumn is coming.
News arrive to you the Mecklenburg has its main force occupying their claims in Pomerania, while a contingent of their army has occupied LĂ¼beck. There, a few of your recruiters put up a fuss and have been shot. Where do you go first?
>To their main armyto attack them head-on
>To LĂ¼beck, for revenge
>To their capital, to swiftly end the war
>>269560
The Weimar government refuses to make your demands official state policy, and the Mecklenburgers simply laugh at your terms, as they are winning the war. Will you pres the government for action? Or will you follow the Conservatives and fight?
>>269560
Come, my ally. Let us unite the people for a thousand years.
>>269561
End the war swiftly and brutally! We must show our position!
>>269561
Let us march on the capital, and fortify it. the rebels should surrender.
>>269571
I declare the state that calls itself german and that says to work for the people a traitor that issues stabs in the back to the people who's rights and futures they hold in their hand. They sit idly by and watch as our noble heritage and glorious destined future crumbles at the sight of yokels with muskets. Any man who dares stay with the goverment in not enforcing the law on these rebels is as guilty as thr rebels themselves.
>>269200
I say we hold the french to international court of some kind. What they have done is unlawful at best and at worst is the fabrication of a casus belli to annex parts of our land for past grievances. We demand that France cease their occupation of the Ruhr. It is holding a potentially prosperous new nation back from realizing its goals!
As September draws to a close, chaos is on the rise. As the KN militia marches straight into Schwerin, the Mecklenburger armies close in. 9.500 men are on their way from LĂ¼beck, while the main army comes from RĂ¼gen, with 20.000 men and 4.000 new conscripts in tow. It seems that a large battle is coming.
The DVNP refuses the "arrogant upstarts'" demands of invading Mecklenburg, and in a public confrontation the Party chairman makes a fool of himself. The GLCN chairman gains considerable respect for this.
Will he follow the KN in raising a militia? And what will the KN do?
>>269646
The GLCN immediately calls upon all true germans, and anyone who wishes to see a strong united Germany, to join the newly created militia wing corps of the GLCN. They will be known as the "Peoples arm" or "Volks Arm" and will be assisting the allready created militias in beating back the rebels.
>>269616
We request your help in gathering men and coming to the capital, aiding us in this fight,
>>269687
Yeah, we'll also try to pull something similar. For the GLCN I want to focus on the Ruhr and Rhine area for now, both policy and campaign wise.
As fighting starts in Schwerin, the GLCN recruits 15.000 men from its ranks. The French, however, say that enough is enough, and demand an immediate end to the war. Mecklenburg would, under these terms, be limited to a standing army of 10.000, and take over 3% of the German war debts. The KN and GLCN must disband their militias immediately.
The chairman of the GLCN is sought after by an Englishman, who claims to want to make a deal with him.
What are your actions.
Picture of the Schwerin front with NATO counters
>>269746
A deal for France. Leave us alone until we defeat the rebels and France can station 5000 troops in the region for 5 years to keep the peace.
>>269770
The GLCN will support the deal proposed by the KN after they've first heard the englishmans offer.
Could we get an update of some sort?
>>269810
The French refuse, and threaten to join the conflict if Mecklenburg's independence is threatened. The government in Weimar offers no response.
>>269770
The Englishman speaks: "Guten tag, Herr Chairman. I hear you're gathering an army to attack the pretender in the north, and to unify Germany, and I rthink we can make an agreement. You see, I represent Wickers, an arms manufacturer, and the United Kingdom hasn't been too eager to buy our products as of late. Thus, I come to you. We have enough small arms to equip your entire force with, as well as a dozen tanks we cannot find buyers for. Would you be willing to take them off our hands, for a small price?"
Keep in mind this could be interpreted as a breach of the Versailles agreement, if anyone found out that is.
The KN forces are still holed up in Schwerin, with supplies for three more months. It is the start of October, and the leaves are falling off the trees.
What will your forces do?
>>269900
Sorry lad, was a bit busy. Update has arrived.
>>269911
Was the offer to the GCLN? Or both of us?
>>269914
Np at all
>>269911
The expectations and blame put on germany during the versailles treaty were unfair and cruel, this is plain to see. We will accept your offer if the KN also agrees to support this transaction. Furthermore, if the KN accepts then we suggest buying half of the equipment for us and half for the KN-militia. As for France, I as chairman will accuse them publicly of abusing a wounded nation and its people, and declare their instigation of discord amongst the german people both tyrannical and devious. Continue the heavy campaigning with this in the Ruhr/Rhine area.
>>269927
You're still holed up in Schwerin, and cannot buy anything at the moment. If the GCLN decide to link up with you at Schwerin, you can borrow some of their equipment.
>>269933
The choice is yours my friend. These weapons will win us this war, but if anyone finds out, it could be the death of us, our parties, and out country.
>>269994
Our country is in a deadlock and a difficult decision be made.
Part of what made us such proud germans is our heritage of Prussian pride and sense of responsibility. Therefore, I will have no man say that we did not do everything in our power to save and unify Germany, and I will have no man say we did not fight until the bitter end. We accept the arms deal, and if anyone threatens to expose news of british arms on the frontlines we will declare them "captured war goods" from the great war. We will also lend atleat 1/4 +1 tank to the KN, as well as half of our new weaponry.
>>270010
Very well. Will you move to Schwerin and join forces or go conquer some land on your own first?
>>270018
If I can, I'd like to try and cut the enemy into pockets, advancing from the west and Holstein, surrounding groups of enemies in small isolated areas. By this point, by the way, we are employing a schorched earth tactic. Anyone who isn't with us is our foe.
>>270035
Almost all of the enemy's forces are at Schwerin, with the exception of some small garrisons. And scorching German earth might not make you the most popular with your nationalist men.
>>270055
Good point. Let's reverse the schorched earth policy, but still be very brutal against the opposing militia. None spared and all that. Employ the tactics previously mention in the Schwerin area instead. (I.e breaking them into smaller pockets and encircling them.)
The KN continues to hole up at Schwerin, with two month's worth of supplies still left.
Meanwhile, the GCLN recruits 3.000 men to go attack the Mecklenburgers in Holstein, while the main army occupies the centre of the country. Their scorched earth tactics, however, have led to many locals banding up against them, with a rebel force of 4000 men standing in their way. Discontent about the policy is also rife within their camps.
The French and the Republic are quiet, perhaps because they don´t know anything, perhaps because they don´t want to do anything.
Whjat are your next moves?
>>270120
Whoops, didn´t notice
>>270103.
Discount the info about rebel forces.
>>270120
The GLCN will attempt to push from both sides towards their allies in an effort to relieve them and get supply lines going better. Also, let's hold campaigns around bavaria again. Focus on the spiritiual union of germanic peoples between Austria and Germany, as well as the need to work together for a common goal.
>>270120
I want to go with the GCLN and attack the Rebel army
The GLCN hurry towards Schwerin in a mad dash.
Although is is Mid-November, and the air is cold and dry, there is less than an inch of snow, and your men still retain full mobility.
Posting battle map soon
With the ragtag forces of the KN holed up in the old fort, the Mecklenburges have made some primitive barricades outside the city, putting their cavalry and, strangely, their militia at the front.. The main GCLN force (name?), with 12 tanks in tow, arrives from the south, while 3.000 well equipped infantrymen approach from the unfortified west.
What are your moves'
>>270268
The name is der "Volks Arm"
And we suggest a joint push from both the city and the forts forces, to trap the besiegers. I want to use the tanks as heavy shock units to try and scare as many of the militia off as possible. These are civilians, after all. Then, straight behind the tanks I want organised lines of infantry setting up basis of machine gun fire and moving forward.
>>270299
And your western infantry?
>>270316
The Western force will make a light skirmish advance in the beginning to draw the enemy out, but will remain in a backseat position as reserves unless desperately needed.
>>270268
What are my forces?
>>270340
The infantry and militia in the bottom right.
>>270357
I want to go around to the back of the rebels and sandwich them between both armies.
The tanks succeed in scaring off the militia, and the entire division, along with a few hundred infantrymen, scatter. However, the Prince has gathered his cavalry to charge at you tanks. Being 5000 men strong, and your tanks being from 1924, they could wipe out your tanks if nothing is done. Their westernmost infantry division pins down the Volksarm's reserves, while the KN´s infantry is attacked in the east when trying a flanking manouver. Their militia is ready to move, however.
>>270394
Try to move some men up to flank the cavalry and support the tanks as they advance for charge. Make sure to establish high ground if possible against the horses.
Noble ally, bring your militia in between the enemy cavalry and their eastern infantry divisions to cut them off and create a crossfire for our troops.
Your tanks, aided by infantry, crush the cavalry, killing 3 thousand men. They're now in full retreat and defenseless. The main rebel infantry force, 20.000 men, is now surrounded. Their western force, however, still mercilessly attacks your reserves.
Added numbers for clarity.
>>270544
Leave three tanks and about a thousand infantry keeping the chase up on the cavalry. Inflict as many casualties as possible. Get the reserves to fall back around the ridge towards the main forces, and try to use them as a bait to get the enemy to move. Then, use the remainding tanks and infantry that weren't sent on the chase to hit that infantry from the sides.
>>270544
Move my Militia and infantry to finish 4k and use the 20 k for the 9 k
also, when the battle is over, I want to create a cult of heroism around the deaths of some of our soldiers. I want to make the german people inspired by deeds of extraordinary valor that were accomplished during the battle. Maybe bake it in with a messeage about fighting against an opposing evil for moral reasons?
The cavalry is nearly crushed, and the enemy infantry takes over 5000 men in losses. 2000 of your militia, however, are killed in the process.
On the plus side, you're almost done with the fight.
>>270813
Finish the fight by one large charge. After this one I gotta leave for a few hours.
Can we ask Poland for help?
>>270835
The Poles hate your Kraut guts, so it's not likely.
Rolled 100, 64, 82, 45 = 291 (4d100)
>>270838
The Swis? England? France? Greece?
>>270847
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWeqHMLT27o
>>270813
Break of the forces pursuing the cavalry, and use everything we have to force a heavy push on the hard enemy infantry. As usual, go in with tanks first for the fear factor and shock value.
>>270847
The Swiss are neutral, England and France are highly distrustful of us, and the Greeks don´t want to upset the Allies for fear of them giving the Turks Constantinople back.
>>270857I get that you don't have to count it because it was just a dumb troll roll, but come on OP. Lets just have some fun with that crit.
Tired and low on ammunition, the 7000 men of the main infantry surrender. The Crown prince of Mecklenburg is dead, falling off his horse while retreating and crushed beneath one of the Volksarm's tanks. Now you are free to direct your attention to the entrenched western infantry, who have managed to kill some of your militia and, with a concentrated attack on your northern flank, destroy one of your tanks. You'll have to clean that up.
The officers of the remaining infantry offer surrender, as long as they are promised that they are allowed to go home and live there in peace. They will be disarmed first, of course. Do you show mercy towards your fellow Germans? Or do you kill every last one of the traitors? Or perhaps you can give them to the Republic to stand trial?
>>270896
Let them go home to their family.
The battle is over, and Mecklenburg is ripe for the taking. Will you send out occupation forces yourself or allow the Weimar Republic to do the honours? Or simply take the country for yourself?
>>270896
>>270921
I say we make them swear an oath of allegiance to the german state first, then let them go on home as they please. Since these guys are entrenched, I think we could afford to give our guys a breather as well? Maybe move some units to and from the frontlines? Just so we can have refreshed troops.
>>270974
Lets do that
>>270967
Oh yeah, and this is the good part.
Take prisoners
Lots of them.
As in, thousands.
Find enemy combatants and take them prisoner. Then, we march them to the govermental steps and present our handywork. We will shame the entire goverment for their failure to act and for our great victories.
I'm gonna stay until the next update, then I'll head off to bed for a few hours. I'll stress again, hold political campaigns in the Ruhr and Rhineland areas.
>>270967
But yeah, we'll occupy it with our own forces for own, whilst finishing up the handywork.
Success! The Mecklenburg revolt has been put down and your men stand victorious. Meanwhile, the Weimar government is the laughuingstock of Germany and the rest of Europe due to your humiliation. Thanks to your mercy and commitment to Germany, your polls in Germany have skyrocketed. Mecklenburg is currently an occupied state, and it's enclaves have been given to Schleswig-Holstein and Prussia. There are currently only six months until the election. What do you do now?
>>271057
Push our victory in the Rhineland. Imma call it a break for now.
>>271057
Campaign heavily in the Rhineland-Saar area, as well as in west Prussia and surrounding.
Off to bed now, don't move too far while I sleep.
And they're up, with the KN and GCLN having just enough seats to form a majority coalition. France and Britain condemn your parties, stating that the are ashamed of Germany for electing such wicked people into power. But things are different now. You're in power now. What will you do?
Noble ally, do you know what this means? This means we have the german people's full backing. They believe in us. They put their trust in us for a better future. Let us hand it to them! I say we refuse to work with any other govermental parties than our own! They, did not want us before, and now we do not want our policies to be astranged by their squabble
I also want to institue a social wellfare program to ensure that the cityfolk have acess to bread and soup for those that are in need. Then, I want to give govermental grants to anyone who wants to set up industry in the german nation. The most beneficial grants will be to those that engage in the flight or automotive industry. Then, as a last order of buisness I decree that any person who held arms against us in the recent uprising in Mecklenburg shall have their property confescated. They will be allowed to keep their currency, and family items, but not more. They will be sent to Bavaria, where they will work as farmhands for a few years, to prove their loyalty to the german nation. This ofc excludes the surrendering officers from the battle.
Are you awake, storyman? ally?

As far as a social welfare program goes, I think we should implement it now, BUT start to slowly repeal it as the unemployment goes down and the economy heals. As for the industry, that sounds good. But the property, we should hold onto it until the traitors come back and then grant it back. I know it is better to be feared than loved, but we need to show some compassion or they have nothing left to lose.
>>272918
We could use some of the property for welfare programs though, give it to people who in turn can use it to prosper.
The KN and GCLN agree on forming a coalition, creating the fourth Weimar government since its inception. You continue increasing social welfare policies, which boosts your popularity among the poor but means a larger deficit, forcing more borrowing for the government. The French, naturally, are outraged at you prioritising soup kitchens over reparations, but take no action.
The military feels threatened by your militias, and demands that they be disbanded entirely, now that the war is over. You could, however, also integrate your forces into the Republics'.
In a shocking twist, you decree the old government's court rulings null and void, and confiscate the property of all those who fought in the Mecklenburgian war. This has led to much controversy, especially within Mecklenburg, still occupied and the source of quite a few of your seats.
The main matter, however, is the Ruhr. Many amongst your ranks demand a deal with the French, in which the occuption and exploitatiion of the Ruhr is ended. The French, however, might not play ball.
What are your next moves?
>>272950
Give me a few mins, I gotta update another thread before I post. Thanks for the udate though.
>>272950
I think eventually the homes should be returned to the owners. The welfare policies shouldn't be too extreme, just a little net. I am still conservative. The militia will be blended in with the actual military to create an army who is loyal to us. As for the Ruhr, we can ask politely but we are in no position to fight or get ti back.
>>273001
I will back the KN on the Ruhr and Pomerania questions. As for the militia/army situation, I want to blend in our militia as the party's explicit military wing. They will be working as elite troops, but will belong to the party instead of the army.
>>273010
So like an SS situation?
>>273017
Yup. Also, lets make sure that the members are portrayed as heroes in the media. we want to creat a kind of cult around them. Mabe have them do rituals of getting invited in?
>>273021
Make them from the heroes of the revolution.
You go straight to work in the state tabloids, which start mass-producing stories of those brave men who followed you to preserve the German union. Many believe that a memorial should be constructed in Schwerin in remembrance of the battle.
The deficit you inherited has become slightly higher, or somewhere around 10% of the state´s revenues. It is unclear how large the revenues are due to poor administration.
The French approach you with a deal. They are willing to let you resume control of the Ruhr, s long as it is kept demilitarized and that you resume servicing your war reparations (around 40% of gov't revenue currently).
The Volksarm and KN militias have been integrated into the Reichswehr, which now stands at 90.000 strong. Remember that going over 100.000 breaches the Versailles agreement.
I need to update my thread, but meanwhile. What does my ally have to say about it?
>>273069
Link to your thread?
>>273094
A giant statue of fighting soldiers is being constructed in Schwerin, and an interstate bill is put into motion by the NV to combat the deficit.
A furious message comes from Paris, where the Franch and British claim that they have eyewitness accounts of tanks being used by the German armies in the Mecklenburg war. Although no nation or company has admitted to selling tanks to Germany, they believe that the testimonies are evidence enough. They demand these tanks be surrendered and that you limit the army to 50.000 men. Doing so, however, would mean admitting to breaking the Versailles treaty and being seen as cowardly by your party.
What is your response?
>>273114
Deny, Deny, Deny. We used nothing but men and cavalry to combat the rebels. Anything else is a lie spread by the rebels or enemies of Germany and her people.
>>273081
It's the elder scrolls risk one, you can find it in the catalogue.
>>273140
Are you the OP of the Tamriel thread on /qst/
>>273156
Indeed I am. You can compare the #
>>273161
Lol. I'm in there too.
>>273165
lel, which one are you? Or are you just observing?
>>273175
Imperial Legion
>>273149
That's a good addition.
>>273241
Thank you :3
Since this is alot quieter than my own thread, are we getting an update? Not to whine, it's just been a while.
>>273331
German politics were too much for our Icelandic bro. He died
>>273362
Sorry, was busy watching the Hungary game, shit was intense
You accuse the French/English governments of being liars and warmongers, using fraudulent stories and hearsay to slander Germany's good name. Where, you ask, are these tanks? Where is the evidence? The British quickly back off, and the French agree to let the matter go,
for now.
In other news, notorious rebel Adolf Hitler has just been released from prison, and has published a book as well. He now takes control of his "Nazi" party, and its two seats in the Reichstag.
Many think the Mecklenburg occupation should come to an end, as it has been a year since their short-lived revolt came to an end. the matter is being put to a vote as we speak.
Last, but not least, there is the matter of territory. You've campaigned heavily against the unfair Versailles treaty and the unjust occupations of the Rhineland and Ruhr. Now people want to see results.
What are your actions?
>>273530
Here is what we'll do. I want to make a deal with France to get back the Ruhr. In exchange for this, we'll allow france the use of a naval base in Pomerania. The occupation should also be called to a halt, but I'll let my colleague deal with how that's done. As for the Rhineland, we will encourage our Volks Arm to go there and live. Apart from that the GLCN is holding off for a while. Oh, and also, send for a private meeting with that Hitler bloke.
Mecklenburg is welcomed back into the German fold, and its people breathe free once again.
You offer your soldiers to move and live in the demilitarized Rhineland. Many happily accept, and half of them already live there anyway. Many question your decision, calling it half-hearted and an attempt to anger France, but they quickly fall silent since few want to be seen in open opposition to the party.
You arrange a private meeting with this Hitler chap. He agrees to meet you in his apartment in Obersalzberg in Bavaria. You advisors warn you that although the man is charismatic and energetic, he has a bit of an... anger issue. Don't spend much time alone with him.
Going to dinner now, that match made me hungry. See you in ~1 hour. You may decide how to introduce yourself to Herr Hitler.
>>273643
I want to congratulate him on his book and say that I share his views on the destiny of the german people. I want to offer him a chance to help the german people the way he does best, by putting his party under mine and becoming my personal political speaker for the party.
You walk into the manor, where you are greeted by a man. He is not pretty, with extremely short, black hair, beady eyes framed within large circular glasses, and a toothbrush moustache above his thin lips. "Greeetings, Chancellor. I am Heinrich. +The FĂ¼hrer will see you shortly." he motions towards an ornate chair, and oyu sit down. Fifteen minutes later, he comes back and gestures for you to come in.
The room is pretty, with ornately frilled mahogany walls, and a large window on the wall opposite the door, shining light from the back garden onto the old desk where a small dark-haired man sat hunched over. He looked up and smiled at you, his toothbrush moustache barely moving.
"Mein Kanzler. So good to see you. Sit down.", he says, his Bavarian accent highly noticable within his surprisingly smooth and high voice, very unlike the deep gruff voice from his rallies.
You take a seat opposite him.
"Congratulations on your new book. I´ve read it and I think you are just the kind of man that the German people need."
"I think you for the compliment. But this is not the only reason you have come, is it?"
"No. I seek for your party to merge with ours. You will be one of our Bavarian branches, and speak with the voice of the GCLN."
"An interesting offer, but I mu8st refuse. The Nazi party will not be subjugated. We will act as equals, or there will be no deals. And I expect a ministry up front."
You are taken aback by his words. This man, whose puny party has fewer members than you have soldiers, thinks to make demand from you before they deliver anything of their own.
How do you respond?
>>273983
I offer to have him appoint a man from his party as advisor to the chief of the Volks Arm. I stress the importance that the german people need to hear his voice with the joint politics of their party with ours to fulfill their destiny. I also assure him that I will allow the nazis to gain the ministry of agriculture, provided that they follow the general guidelines of the GLCN.
>>273983
Wasn't Heinrich a chicken farmer before he became one of Hitler's closest allies?
>>274030
At this point he has gotten another job at the SS
Also from now on I want to conduct heavy campaigning in Bavaria for farming subsidies and agricultural development. If I get the nazi party with me, then I do it with them.
>>274023
"The people must hear your voice. The only way to do that is to throw your lot in with us.."
"And what will I gain from that?"
"We will give one of your fellow party men a position as an advisor to a General of the army, and if you cooperate and don´t let us down, we'll give you the Ministry of Agriculture."
"You expect me to accept this meager offer? I will broadcast my truth to Germany by myself, sir, unless you want to help me. But I want your guarantee that your party will adopt my party's stances of a pure Germany, free of Jews and Slavs, and to take the Lebensraum we deserve from the Poles and the Bolsheviks. Add this to your offer, and I'll accept."
If you accept, you´ll be putting your party and yourself into a tight position. Will you accept this man´s offer and radically change your party politic? Or will you dismiss this madman's demands, and go your own way as usual?
>>274145
"Herr Hitler, you and I both know the destiny of the german people. We have the vision. We both know that it will come at the expense of those that we deem impure and savage. And we are both well aware that the bolsheviks have no place in germany's future. Thus far we are agreed. However, you and I also both realise that the german people need a strong, visible and identifiable leader who has done much good for them. Ask yourself Adolf, will it be the people who slew down revolts for Germany and kept the french and english at bay, whilst securing germany's future as an industrialist nation? Or will it be the ones that held a few speeches and organised a failed putsch in mĂ¼nchen? Herr Hitler, we both see the same goals. You are as aware of this as I am. To reach this goal we must be able to put aside personal struggle for the good of the German people. I will give you one final offer to help the German people from our position. I will make changes to my party plan that I myself desire, not the ones that you do so. For the betterment of Germany. FĂ¼r Brot, better unt bruterschaft. FĂ¼r Deutschland. Will you join me in the struggle?"
>>274202
Hitler's visage is calm in the beginning, but once you mention the putsch his face all of a sudden becomes stern with held-back rage. Once you've finished, his face is red as a tomato.
"This is my struggle," he shouts angrily, "and I will pursue it the way I see fit! This is my party, and it shall remain so!"
"Herr Hit-"
"Shut your mouth, you filthy kike! Do you think that you are superior than me, simply because you have some men in some seats in some disgrace of a government? No sir, I will lead the Aryan race to glory, without the help of old Jewish lapdogs like you." He seems to have calmed down a bit. "Now, please leave."
As you walk out of the mansion, you cannot help but wonder how different this man is from his public persona. You shudder at the thought of this insane man ever coming to power in Germany.
Well that went straight to twatty town. I want to hold a new campaign, that claims interest in investigating the 'jewish question'.
>>274372
Watch out, my friend. Don't go down that route.
>>274415
But I think we need to meet Hitler on his own turf. We have the peoples trust, now we must make sure that Hitler offers nothing new and that he is embarrased publicly. Join me in the declaration, friend. We need a unified house.
It is a fine summer day, and some French soldiers are walking in a forest a short way away from the Rhine. Then they notice a man handling what is clearly a British army gun. They move in to confiscate it.
"ArretĂªz! You are under arrest for carrying illegal firearms and suspect contraband!"
"Fick dich, Frenchies, this is my government-supplied rifle! I have every right to bear it!"
"Ze law is strict! Citizens cannot be issued with or own rifles!"
"I´m a soldier! Is it not my right to bear arms?"
"A soldier? Zut alors! You'll have to come with us and explain yourself!"
The french soldiers move in to arrest the man, but he is not alone. The arrest quickly turns into a full-on brawl, with 3 Germans dead and over a dozen soldiers on both sides wounded.
The French are understandably not happy with the situation, and accuse you of trying to invade the Rhineland. They threaten military action if you do not remove all soldiers from the Rhineland within 72 hours.
On another note, the campaign you've held has not worked out so well, with many party members claiming it does against the principle of German unity, and alienates many Jews in your country, especially the richest ones, the ones that are the main focus of the question, and your second-biggest donors. It seems that you've put yourself in a bit of a bad spot with that one.
How do you proceed?
>>274485
As for the French problem, I want to plaster the fact that the French killed 3 honest and hardworking Germans. I wan't it spread around the entire country and neighboring countries. I also want to set up large protests and riots as quickly as possible. I want the entire country turned against France. As for the Jew stuff, that is the GCLN's problem.
I am reversing my policy on jews once again. I would like to chalk it up to anti-german sympathies in the party. I will discuss with my ally how to deal with the rhineland crisis.
I also want to stress the fact that the militiamen had been issued rifles out of fear due to frances previous miliitary action.
"Foul murder! It is that, and nothing less, which the French have done, shooting an innocent man who was just exercising his constitutional rights! ill we stand by, as the French menace massacres our men? No, I say, no!"
Anger and resentment towards the French government is at an all, time high, both in Germany and in France. With elections approaching next year, and the opposition AD-RI party (who favours international co-operation) being predicted to win, the French Cartel des gauches-controlled government has expressed their desire to renegotiate the status of the Rhineland.
They offer the rights for soldiers living there to own guns ,and to use them at designated practice ranges, and to perhaps shrink the demilitarised area, just by a little of course.
The DMZ and the occupied Ruhr can be seen on the map.
Will you negotiate? And if so, what will your counter-demands be?
>>274601
The french are the savages, here we stand, a nation in its youth with a people whos destiny is ever unclear. And yet the french goverment does nothing but enforce heavy-handed opressive laws against us. It is time to realise the unfairness of the versailles treaty against the german peoplee! The rhineland will be reoccupied by the militia and small amounts of our army. Furthermore we demand the french withdrawal from the Ruhr, and the establishment of the Ruhr as a new DMZ.
>>274601
In my opinion, I think we could push more. A complete removal of the french from the Ruhr, and a movement of the DMZ to just 50-100 miles from the border.
>>274628
>>274649
The French consider your offer, but want some minor readjustments. They want the DMZ to stay at least 50 km the borders of Belgium and Luxembourg as well. If you accept, the Ruhr, hesse and most of the nothern Rhineland will be evacuated. A map has been prepared to show the extent of the new DMZ.
Do you accept?
>>274687
And how long will this DMZ stay for?
I ask the french now, do they fear us? They have bitten and stamped at the old dogs head and now they're surprised when it growls. The GLCN stand by their demands and offers, with one small adjustment. A 1(!)km wide stretch of land across the Rhine as the DMZ. The french will either accept or admit that they are so afraid of us that they need this bizarrely large DMZ.
>>274712
You might be going a little too far lad. If this blows up on us...
>>274690
For forever. The French do not want you on their doorstep, now or later.
>>274712
1 km is nothing for some good artillery, it would provide no safety. It would also prove their fear to have some root in reality.
>>274720
You're probably right, but I believe we can do this. There is no sense in whimpering now, Hitler would abuse it far too easily.
>>274737
We wouldn't be whimpering. It was a great success today. But 1 km is too small, even for the French. I can agree to 5 or 15 km but no lower.
>>274735
Then offer them a maximum of a further 8 km. Anything beyond that and my previous statements stand. They are whimps, believing a young nation beaten and bullied like us is a danger to them.
>>274742
>>274744
The French refuse demands for shrinking the DMZ further, but are willing to come upon a compromise. The idea of German unity has been strong in the Saarland since it was seperated from the republic, and if you were to accept the French proposal the League of Nations would authoriZe a plebiscite on whether to join Germany, almost guaranteed to be a landslide for union.
What do you say?
>>274794
We know how "productive" the League can be, but we literally cannot say no anymore. I agree.
>>274794
I would agree to this if my partner does likewise. If it does happen, then make sure to campaign heavily in the area with us as liberators from french oppression.
You have a deal, and French guards exit the Ruhr and northern Rhine.
The Saarland plebiscite is scheduled in two weeks, with straw polls predicting a 90+% vote for reunification. The people cheer, as Germany finally shows that when she is threatened, she can bite back.
>>274832
What a great outcome
In the meantime I want to campaign around the border with Czekoslovakia. I want to promise social reforms for the benefits of the german worker in society by assuring they always will have paid work and bread.
And the results are in, showing 90,5% support for reunification. The Saarland joins the fold, and is awarded seven seats in the Reichstag. How will you distribute them?
The French reduce their Rhineland forces from 30.000 to 10.000, with the plan being to reduce them to 8000 by this time next year, shortly before the June elections.
Meanwhile, a Greek diplomat approaches you, asking for an audience. He says his country wants military assistance in restoring their country, just as Germany has.
What are your next moves?
>>274855
Accept the Greek Diplomat. Also, campaign in the newly acquired zone about how we can actually get things done. Also, how's that interstate bill coming along?
I want to continue my previous campaign plans in the newly aquired saar. I also want to hear what the greek has to say. How long until elections, OP?
>>274865
>>274869
Elections are scheduled for August, 1930. It is July of 1927 right now.
The interstate bill has hit a hitch, namely the lack of funding for it. Paying for it would involve taking on quite a lot of debt, or raising more revenues.
The Greek speaks: "Chanc ellor, wer Greeks have heard of your ambition to wrestle control of you country back from the wicked Entente. We, too, have been betrayed by them, in Lausanne, and we wish to right those wrongs."
"We ask for your material, and if possible, military support in a war with the Turks, where we will liberate Thrace, Constantinople, and Asia Minor from the Turkish menace. Will you help us in our struggle?"
He then pulls the chancellor over, and lowers his voice.
"A little bird told me you have a dozen tanks at the ready. If you were to loan them to us, we would be very grateful."
What are your actions?
>>274920
We cannot risk those thanks being exposed in war footage by members of the entente. I'd like to know greeks prospects of taking on Turkey, and what my ally has to say.
>>274952
Whoops, somehow I fucked my trip. Anyway, our support is not beyond reach, but we need to discuss it carefully.
>>274920
Well what could we get for doing this very dangerous deed?
>>274952
In a 1-on-1 total war, Greece would be crushed, though they would put up a fierce resistance. However, with the Entente weak, you could tip the scales in Greece's favour.
The diplomat assures you that the tanks would be painted in Greek colours, and that they are planning to buy some Mark II's themselves, although they have found themselves a bit short on cash.
>>274966
An ally in the Balkans, and premium access to the lucrative Bosphorus trade. It is also an option to show the world your strength.
>>274989
I agree to lend them the tanks, but they must be painted Greek before they cross the border, and they will have to be paid for if they become destroyed.
I'm convinced. The GLCN will allow volunteers from it's paramilitary wing to go at their own behest, whilst strongly encouraging it for both members of the Volks Arm and otherwise interestedn population. We also plan on sending the tanks and offering supplies towards Greece in support.
>>275007
This is okay. Will you pledge them money, equipment or soldi- er, volunteer forces as well?
The German state, however and I hope my ally will agree here, will remain neutral. We will however ideologically support Greece and stand by them with plenty of trade deals.
>>275018
I am willing to give the tanks, and weapons along as some light funds. If they find Germans in Greece though. We won't be in power for much longer.
>>275036
Do you think we can afford to send volunteers? Mind you, the goverment aren't the ones officially sending them.
>>275065
We will not stop any Germans who want to "volunteer" to fight for the Greek freedom. Now, I think we have fully agreed on the terms of this arrangement. Another thing has come to attention. If this interstate bill passes, it could provide over a million jobs. The only problem is funding, of course. I am open to any ideas that aren't raising taxes.
>>275036
>We won't be in power for much longer.
That´s up to you.
It is September, and Greece has declared war upon Turkey. The world stands in shock as Greek armies, supported with a large amount of Vickers tanks, quickly occupy Thrace and race on towards Constantinople. To an even bigger surprise. 15.000 German volunteers are with them, having been shipped to Izmir(Smyrna) to launch an amphibious assault.
You have now gained a sphere of influence!
>>275087
We can base it on the selling of resources from greece? Or we could try to do a community raffle from our parties. I'm open to suggestions as well. I also want to stress the importance of connecting major coastal cities with the interstate so as to make trade easier.
I also want to try and open trade deals with Norway in order to secure good relations. How is our armament technology looking?
>>275104
That was the plan. With Greece as our, well, "bitch" we can easily collect a profit from the trade routes. We can also spread the ideas of raffles as well as pushing the idea of bonds. I am sure the wealth generated by this grand system of roads and bridges and others will be enough to pay back our citizens.
>>275134
Great points and great ideas. Let's do this. I want to also take this opportunity to enact the Industrial Act, which will give grants and benefits to the owners of newly created factories if the factories produce automotive vehicles or aircraft.
>>275150
We will have to account for all the needed raw material, but with Greece, the Ruhr back, and the new interstate, it should be enough, if not more than enough, to cover the expense.
The interstate bill finally passes, as well as the Industrial act. They are to be paid for by selling bonds and raffles, to be repaid later with profits form the new Greek markets. However, the low quality of administration and insecurity about winning the war means that the full financing might take up to two years to materialize.
Greece continues to make headway in the war, surrounding Costantinople and capturing the
ancient cities of Nicea, Prusa and Aydin.
The Entente are not pleased, and want a negotiated peace, but Turkey denies it, saying that once it mobilizes, it will crush the Greek menace.
What are your next actions?
>>275179
I think we should try to send a diplomat to turkey. Try to talk some sense into them. Maybe even get them to agree to Greece's demands so as to avert a further big war?
Actually, I have an idea. We send diplomats to Bulgaria, who have a few words unspoken with Turkey, and offer them entrance into the pact we have with greece. We can promise to supply them as well with weapons and ammunition if they agree.
>>275229
But what would they get out of the deal? Greece already claims Thrace, and going to war is an expensive pastime.
>>275237
They could get porr acess in the sea there (I forget what it's called) greek naval protection, as well as high quality German weapons. I want my ally to agree to it first though.
>>275249
Port acess*
Also, I'll be going to bed after the next update if it's not too big of a bother. Got an early morning. Do you guys wanna call it a night at that point as well?
>>275258
Yeah, sure. I'll wait for 5 mins for the other guy to update, then post the last update for the day.
>>275249
Well it is unlikely that Bulgaria to agree, but if they do, then Turkey could very well be defeated. We of course need to stay out of the spotlight or risk our house of cards falling around us.
>>275289
We will talk with Bulgaria in terms only of joining us. Wether they choose to help Greece is another matter, but it is expected of them.
>>275301
The Bulgarians are fine with joining, but for a price.
They demand that e give their army material support, as with the Greeks, but they also want your guarantee that once the war is over, you will support them in demanding Southern Dobruja from the Romanians.
>>275313
Tell them we can assist with diplomatic talks with Romania, but do not wish to enforce demands on Romania for the time being.
My ally can of course also have his say before we decide on the matter.
Right, off to bed now. Toodle-o!
>>275327
We can agree to everything else but the Romania idea. We can fiddle with it tomorrow.
The Greeks advance on all fronts, as the Gallipoli front meets up with the German Smyrna front. Over 12.000 Turkish soldiers are encircled by Greek tanks near the town of Balikesir, but in the north the Greeks struggle as the Turkish mobilization bares its teeth, The Greeks call for a mobilization of their own.
Bulgaria has warmed up to you considerably, but will not join the war until it gets a written document recognizing it as the rightful owner of South Dobrudja.
And with this I leave you. Goodnight.
I would like to discuss the possibilities with my ally.
We should either try to talk with Turkey with diplomatic aims. We need to stress to them that the 12 thousand turkish soldiers will all perish unless they give in to Greeces demands.
Then we should discuss the possibility in giving the Bulgarians half of the Rumanian territory they request. We need to stay out of taking places against Romania, though, as they can be important later. If the situation arises between them, then we should maybe consider shifting sides to help Rumania, get them on our side.
Lastly, we need to consider sending in our own armed forces. If the greeks get pushed back then this will be the worst humiliating disaster we have faced so far. I won't send the troops without your agreement, but I highly recommend it.
