Sleeper No More v2

Thread replies: 505
Thread images: 27

There is but one goal.. Amass a fortune to build a universe

Welcome to a world of neverending darkness. Surrounding you is a sea of "Sleepers" - Beings such as yourself who have not yet woken. You are completely naked. You have no tools. There are no structures. There is only darkness above, darkness below, and darkness as far as the eye can see.

Death has no power here and thus life holds no meaning. If ever you are attacked, you may die, but can return at any time to exact revenge.

Roll using dice+1d10 in options box

-Player Characters-
================
Awoken - Blessed by A Distant Star with a singular ability. The Awoken can conjure up to two equips (one for each hand) from memory. They are able to use items but their natural abilities never improve. Extremely gear dependant. Begin with one <3. Limitless inventory. Killing an awoken awards the killer with a Tealight Token. Loses all additional <3s upon death. Only the awoken may pray to A Distant Star, and if they roll an 8 they may be blessed with a response.

Fire Eye+0 - Eyes of a great dimensional beast trying to tear its way into this realm. Their natural prowess in offense grows with every two kills (2nd kill increases hit parameter from 1-3 to 1-4, 4th kill increases parameter from 1-4 to 1-4 + 8's). They are unable to use items or gear but can use successful dodge rolls to disengage and close up at any time, rendering themselves untargettable and unable to target until reopening. They begin with two <3s, and gain another <3 every 3 kills. No inventory. Max rank +6. At rank 6 they can shed a Lava Tear and be reborn as a Fire Imp+3.

Fire Imp+0 - Offspring of Fire Eyes. Their natural prowess in both offense and defense grow evenly with every kill (hit parameter increases from 1-3 to 1-4 on first kill, dodge parameter henceforth includes 1s on second kill). They are unable to use gear, but are able to steal gear with a successful roll (Success = 2/4/6/8, Fail = 1/3/5/7/9/0 - Failures count as a fumble). They begin with one <3, and gain another @ 3 kills. Can use items. Limitless inventory. Max Rank +3

Shadow Person+0 - Offspring of the Hat Men. Their natural prowess in defense grows with every two kills (2nd kill henceforth allows 1's to contribute to dodge rolls, 4th kill henceforth allows 9's to contribute to dodge rolls). They are unable to use items but can use one piece of gear. All other items they acquire must be discarded or left behind, rendering them free for the taking. They begin with one <3 and gain another every two kills. Max rank +4. Can use two pieces of gear at rank 4.

Ranks are acquired through kills. One kill = one rank up.

Please report your acquired stats/items/gear from previous threads at the beginning of every new thread for the sake of simplicity.

-Combat-
========
Initial Strikes - The first attack in a bout or the attack used to strike an opponent who has fumbled. The standard hit parameter are digits 1-3, with 4-9 & 0 equalling a miss. If you hit, your opponent must dodge roll. If you miss, you have fumbled and can disengage but cannot attack again until your opponent has done so. Hits are only valid if posted with three complete sentences.

Disengage - Disengage posts must be four complete sentences detailing your getaway AND must be posted before the defending anon strikes back. Odd #'s & 0's are successes. If you fail a disengage you have failed completely and must wait for your opponent to either attack or ignore your antics.

Dodging - After being attacked you have the opportunity to make a dodge roll. Even #s equate a successful roll. Odd #s mean you failed the roll and are struck. Successfully rolling leads into an immediate counter, and your opponent must now make a dodge roll. Successful dodge rolls must be two complete sentences long.

Autohit Counter - Counters and critical strikes rolled into one. If you roll a 0 during a dodge you managed to pull off an Autohit Counter. Your opponent cannot dodge this attack and their life is reduced to nothing.
Strikes always reduce an enemies <3 total by only 1 unless Autohit applies.

Rules of Engagement -
1) If attacked by multiple opponents you need not make a dodge roll against all attacks. One successful roll against any of your attackers successful hits nullifies the remaining hits, but you can only counter against a single enemy. The remaining enemies can either disengage or attack again, but the same rules apply.

Ex - A Distant Star dodges one of two hits from two opponents and chooses opponent A to counter. Opponent B attacks again alongside opponent A (who successfully dodged and countered). A Distant Star then successfully dodges As attack but changes her counter target to opponent B. Opponent B fails his check and dies, but A attacks again. A Distant Star must now make a dodge roll against A.

2) If you fail a dodge roll, ALL HITS AGAINST YOU STRIKE.

Ex - Fire Eye+6 fails a dodge against three opponents. It is struck three times. If it is hit one more time, it dies.

3) All hearts are restored to the victor after combat.

4) Upon dying, you must give up a single item to the victor. All other items in your inventory are returned to darkness (gone completely). Only two items returned to darkness can be reconjured. Any item left behind cannot be conjured again until you reacquire the item.
>>
- Currently Conjured Items & Equips -
=================================
Tealight Tokens // Used to summon NPCs, these do not disappear upon death
Bottled Flame // Reconjure unconjurable items (1 use) cannot reconjure explosives, does not disappear upon death

Firearms // hit parameter from 1-3 to 0-3, 0 no longer counts as a miss
Standard Explosives (grenades, dynamite, etc) // Also kill user unless user succeedes a dodge roll (1 use)
Super Explosives (missles, nukes, etc) // Also kills user but kills all those attacking user (1 use)
Ghost Paste // Counts as a free dodge (1 use)

Gloves // dodge rolls include 1's
Boots // dodge rolls include 5's
Matches // Used in burn attempts (1 use)

Twinblade // Reroll attacks. Rerolls hit if even #s, fumble if odd #'s standard parameters do not apply
Tinkerer's Tools // Can break items down into building materials x1
>>
-Summons & Drops-
=============
The following creatures can be summoned via Tealight Tokens. Once summoned, the necessary amount of tokens are removed from the inventory and each Summon follows standard combat rules. Every Summon comes with a set amount of <3s and the summoner must roll for himself as well as the Summon. If the summoner dies or disengages against a Summon they are unsummoned.

Ex - A Distant Star summons a Skeleton and rolls a 4. This counts as a fumble. A Distant Star then posts the attack roll of the NPC and reacts accordingly (either with a dodge, or if the NPC fumbles, an attack)

( Every <3 requires a Tealight Token )

Fire Lord <3 <3 - imp wing on autohit counter, matches by default
Fire Eye <3 <3 - tent on autohit counter, gloves by default
Shadow Person <3 - dog bowl by default, gloves on autohit counter
Ent <3 <3 - building mats x2 by default
Mimics <3 - building mats x1 by default
Fallen Star <3 <3 - stardust & tealight tokens by default
Skeleton <3 - Boots by default, stardust on autohit counter

Hat Man <3 <3 - Head piece by default, cleric tear on autohit counter
Skeleton Captain <3 <3 - shield on autohit counter, boots by default
Goblin <3 - bubblegum & coffee grounds by default
Troll Miner <3 - explosives on autohit counter, matches by default
Thirsty Ghost <3 - Ghost paste by default, cleric tear on autohit counter
Hungry Ghost <3 <3 - Flea Cape on autohit counter, ghost paste by default
Shadow Lord <3 <3 <3 <3 - Ninja Suit on autohit counter, ghost paste & stardust by default
>>
- Structures -
===========
Structures supply some afk defense while you're away doing other things. The downside is that they can be burned down by with matches via burn attempts. Burning only succeeds if the player rolls a 3, 6, or 9..8's will ignite the anon on fire resulting in death, and all other rolls simply use the item up.

Tent : Requires Building Materials x2
(Owner + 1 Untargettable by 1 enemy, targettable by 2 or more)

Cottage: Requires Building Materials x3, or Tent x1 & Building Materials x1
(Owner + 2 Untargettable by 2 or fewer enemies, targettable by 3 or more)

Cabin: Requires Cottage x1 & Building Materials x2
(Owner + 3 Untargettable by 4 or fewer enemies, targettable by 5 or more)

Fort: Requires Cabin x1, Cottage x1, & Building Materials x4
(Owner & All Inside are untargettable. Cannot be burned down.)

Do we start with fresh characters for this one with blank slates?
>>
>>178071
I'm voting for us doing this.
>>
>>178071
>>178077
Entirely up to you.

Feel free to roll something new if you like, but you're absolutely welcome to start fresh.
>>
Not getting a new character.
>>
>>178081
I mean we start with our initial equipment.
>>
>>178052
Let me go ahead and just make machetes unable to be broken down by tinkerers tools (:
>>
Rolled 2 (1d10)

>>178041
okay! let's DO THIS!
Item
Rifle (repaired)
Tinkerer's kit
also roll for prayer.
>>
>>178101
I'm all for you bringing your characters from the last thread over. It doesn't bother me either way. If you want to change equips you can, if you don't Idk. If you want to start fresh or continue or, go for it. I'm absolutely apathetic. You can start with your initial equips from before or choose new ones now.
>>
>>178102
what! That's like a complete negation of my tools :(

I'll just roll a new character I used to be knight.
I AWAKEN
I wake up with a double barrel shotgun and a full head covering helmet.
>>
When last we left to noble king and his latest subjects, they were setting out in search of building materials. Perhaps they'll find some.

>1 backpack nuclear device
>1 Uzi
>1 bottles flame
>1 flea cape
>1 breastplate
>>
>>178123
But only on machetes. Not like i would leave them for you to just make shit with continuously anyways

>>
>>178123
You're still able to break literally everything but machetes down into materials for buildings. Even bottled flames. That's op.

>>178126
Good taste.

WELP GANG, you're the chosen few to pioneer this realm to greatness. From this point onward I'll just be stopping by to respond to prayers, lead NPC attacks every 6 hours or so, and detail fresh weapon stats. Keep up with your gear and try not to slaughter eachother. I'm gonna get back to really refining the formula on wordpad.

I'll be watching (: You all have a Tealight Token in your inventory btw. Pool em together and you could take on some summons. Summoner gets the drops.
>>
>>178181
>>178131
You guys want to pool our tokens to summon a bunch of goblins together to build a cottage by the tinkerer breaking down the drops?

*a last is cast down upon your frame*

Now, let's see.. You've been earnestly trying to get my attention for a while now (: I'll have to give you something really special for all that effort.

*the light intensifies and then fades away, leaving a stick of dynamite in your inventory*
>>
>>178199
*a light is cast

>>178198
Come back soon! Maybe by the time your back Brotha Musashi will have reacquired his lust for blood and come back to start a ruckus.
>>
>>178193
I saw a figure in the darkness moving around aimlessly, I leave the company of the knight to follow it.
>>
>>178193
A fine plan, Sergeant. But I'm not entirely sure what kind of cottage could be built from bubblegum and coffee grounds.

It would be better to summon mimics instead.

Come, tinkerer. We must return to camp.
>>
>>178230
Wait, I saw a silhouette of something, it seems to be human but it moves irregularly.
>>
>>178230
Yeah that would make more sense, I was just going by the tinkerers tools to somehow make everything into building materials.
>>178239
Its me the knight dude, I changed characters.
>>
>>178243
(I say we act like you were never a knight in the first place and retcon that entire RP)
>>
>>178248
But that was why he joined you.
>>
>>178248
(Sounds good, its just playing a knight felt real boring for some reason.)
>>
>>178252
Yeah, but poor RP practice aside, I imagine we'd just do the same interaction over again if we acted like we were meeting for the first time. It's easier this way.
>>
>>178268
okay sure, so restart all interaction?

Oh no..."
A man in his early thirties Wakes, clutching a SpellBook and his Wizard Robes(complete with stylish hat!)
"Oh god, oh no, whats going on!?"
>>
>>178276
No, that's what I'm saying, it's too tedious. Just pretend like he was always a marine and we can just keep going like nothing happened.

The alternative is the knight vanishes into thin air and the marine shows up, and we talk to him. I guess it's up to him.
>>
Rolled 44 (1d100)

>>178183
Well, rolling to explore the darkness.
>>178276
This is why I feel we should try to start with new or the same initial character.
>>
>>178290
You would say that, it makes no difference to you.

Let's just go back to camp and kill some mimics.
>>
>>178280
Just pretend I was always the marine, it'd be easier than starting over. Not like I really had anything other than my starting items since I was killed by that guy.
>>
>>178296
There. Settled.

Now men, we have real work to do.
>>
>>178295
Except I have dynamite. :^)
>>
Thr man looks around him. Is that a King? Some type of Scorpiongirl? Who is this beefy warrior, or the man with many tools?
Holding his Wizard cap as he leans back to observe the sky, he spots a prominant star...
"Help me be safe, please! Im so scared!"
>>
>>178299
Alright then, lets get to summoning these mimics.
>>
>>178326
you old man, this isn't a place for lanky poor sods to be alone.
>>
Arriving back at the camp, I pull a single tealight token from beneath my cape, and hold it up to inspect. I look to the sides, to my subjects. My uzi hangs in my right hand, ready for battle.

"Are you both ready?"
>>
>>178345
*not necessarily both if the tinkerer is off talking to randoms. The marine and I can handle it if need be.
>>
>>178343
I don't know how I got here at all, I'm afraid to say!
What a-a-are you d-d-doing? Can I h-h-help!?
>>
>>178243
*a light is cast upon you*

For your astute observations of my disastrous carelessness in world forming, I bestow upon you some bubblegum!

Aaand coffee grounds can no longer be broken down into building materials. Bubblegum can! But not coffee grounds.

>>178252
If you wanted two scorpion blades I'll leave the function basically the same as the scorp tail but give them 2 free strikes that take effect after turns three and five, respectively.

>>178278
Robes count as a chest piece without the additional <3, and your spellbook lets you cast spells that function like standard explosives without having to dodge roll.

And I forgot to edit this info when I transfered from notepad to wordpad..
Standard explosives can hit up to two enemies and is used to destroy forts. They follow the same procedure as burn attempts if used on forts.
>>
>>178392
What is a free strike?
>>
>>178363
Come, I think someone would be glad to meet you.

>>178353
King, This old fool was seen in the edges of the camp, he doesn't seem dangerous nor useful at all, yet I think he has something you need.
>>
>>178414
I pause with the token in my hand, and look at the old man.

>>178363
"You stand in the kingdom of Atom. Who are you, and why should I allow you to remain here?"
>>
>>178345
Just waiting for you to summon it. Then we can slay these beings and create a proper home
>>
>>178326
>>178414
C'mon, you're not just gonna let people walk over you, wizard?
>>
>>178414
>>178353
"N-n-nice to meet you, your M-m-majesty! I am the G-g-great and powerful Wizard of this land! How m-m-may I serve?"
>>
>>178435
"I-I-I have mastered the art of the E-e-explosion! What needs b-b-blowing up?"
>>
>>178444
You know, wizard, he's only king to one who doesn't exist anymore.

>>178441
I eye the other newcomer suspiciously.

"I'll deal with you later."

>>178444
"You don't look great and powerful...still, things aren't what they seem..."

I think for a moment.

"I think I shall devise a test for you. If you pass, you shall become my court wizard. I could use one of those.

You say you can blow things up? Then that will be the test."

I whisper "mimic" to the tealight token, and throw it to your feet. There's a sudden flash, and there sits what looks like a wooden chest, but the edge of its lid is covered in teeth.

The initiative is yours, I'll roll for the chest.

"Defend yourself, wizard."
>>
>>178399
"Strikes always reduce an enemies <3 total by only 1 unless Autohit applies."

So if you were fighting an opponent and it was time for your free strike, if you succeed in your dodge roll your following counter deals damage AND they have to succeed their own dodge roll. I'll illustrate.

You hit.
They dodge and counter (this is turn 1)
You dodge (2) and counter
They dodge and counter (3)
(4)If you fail a dodge roll you take a strike and if you die the free hit isn't applied. If you manage to dodge or survive though, you counter and..
(5)Enemy takes the strike. If they survive the free strike, they either fail the dodge roll and take an additional strike, or pass the roll and counter
(6) same scenario as four
(7) same scenario as five
>>
>>178455
>>178476
(Wait a second, do the explosives garentee a hit or am I misreading this because if so this guys the most op character around)
>>
>>178444
>>178473
He's only doing it for his own benefit.
He lets his subjects call you weak, but I know better. You're stronger than that, he's a coward who hides behinds his allies, letting them die in place of him.
>>
>>178473
"Oh boy, oh jeez, Im so scared..."
The King seems haughty, and is not impressed with the wizard. Whats worse, he summons a mimic to attack the poor man!
The wizard tried to roll away, out of reach from the snapping jaws of the fiend!
>>
>>178494
(The initiative is yours, you get to attack.)

(Put dice+1d10 in the options field to roll)

"Come on wizard, earn your place by my side!"
>>
>>178490

*there is a flash of white in the realm, and the following changes take effect*

(Please put the appropriate amount of <3s by your trip, like so - "<3x2, <3x4, etc")

2Scorpion Tail/Blade // Three turns after landing a hit or successfully dodging (turn 4), land a free strike (changed from 1hit ko), with a followup strike after turn five (turn 6). Each free strike can be targetted at only one enemy at a time, and these strikes can only take effect once per engagement.

Scorpion Tail/Blade // Three turns after landing a hit or successfully dodging, land a free strike (changed from 1hit ko) Each free strike can be targetted at only one enemy at a time, and these strikes can only take effect once per engagement.

Tealight Tokens can be used at the time of a dodge roll to 1) negate the effects of free strikes against you 2) safeguard against an upcoming failed dodge, until the next opportunity to dodge arises. Cannot be used before an engagement.

Right, but how can you disengage when you're dead.

Rolled 8 (1d10)

Because I revived.

the corpse then sudden;y turns into a fine black mist, leaving the tinker tools and a tealight token

Yes, but the problem I have is with >>178612 where you showed up as if nothing had happened, only missing a dynamite.

You didn't see Tinkerer doing that.

At this point you had initiated a fight by praying and attacking the tinkerer at the same time. The roll resulted in a failed prayer (6) and a hit (3) on the tinkerer. As the tinkerer fumbled to get his dodge roll, the marine fired at you and landed a 6 which was a miss. The wizard attacked the king and the mimic as the king attacked you. They both landed a 2, which means it was time for you to dodge. The next roll I see you make is here
>>178557
Which results in a three. You have to land even #s to pass the dodge roll so this means you took a strike.

Doom marine fired at the wizard and missed. The mimic failed its roll and the king suceeded his.

The tinkered finally got it together but was cut down. As was the poor newly awoken wizard who rolled a five against the kings counter.

Scorp died first, followed by the tinkerer who fell victim to her poison. Last was the wizard. Each of these players have to give up an item. This item cannot be conjured until it is reacquired. All other items return to darkness and can be reacquired.

All items left behind can be split between the last two standing because holy shit that escalated quickly.
>>
>>178817
ORDER HAS BEEN RESTORED!
>>
I breath out a sigh, and nod to Sir Marine.

"Get her tea token and whatever she left behind."

I bend down to pick up the building materials and the wizard's cloak and tealight token.

I now have

>1 backpack nuclear device
>1 Uzi
>1 bottles flame
>1 flea cape
>1 breastplate
>1 wizards cloak (unequipped)
>1 tealight token
>>
>>178817
I'll just pick up the items that have been dropped and quickly throw them in the tent. Tinkerer your tools are saved and we figured out what happened.
>>178842
Mind if I get the cloak? You already have a chest peice and we can break down the dynamite and upgrade the tent to a cottage

>>178727
Also, I agree with the king. Chiefly because Scorp gave absolutely no narrative like Tink Tink did here
>>178672
To signify her death and revival, which is what I'm pretty sure got things so twisted.

Nevermind the fact successful hits require three complete sentences to be valid, dodges require two, and disengaging take four.

Come on now.
>>
>>178851
Wait. Wouldn't it be I leave the dynamite and the tool is sent to the darkness?
>>
>>178871
You droped the dynamite voluntarily while your claws disapeared but you reformed them via the 2 reforms after death rule. The tinkerer chose to drop the tools.
>>
>>178851
Aye, that was my intention. I have little use for it.

>>178871
No. You died first according to OP. You didn't get to pick up any loot, so it was just sitting there on the ground.

Even if you hadn't, you'd have to specifically mention picking them up, they don't magically transport themselves into your inventory.

Let's just put this behind us for God's sake.
>>
>>178892
>>178900
But see, upon death, an item is given to the victor in the OP.
>>
>>178903
Even if said victor is dead?

I'm not so sure I believe that.
>>
>>178900
>>178045
"4) Upon dying, you must give up a single item to the victor. All other items in your inventory are returned to darkness (gone completely). Only two items returned to darkness can be reconjured. Any item left behind cannot be conjured again until you reacquire the item."
>>
>>178920
You died instantly after stabbing the tinkerer, you still have to pick it up.
>>
>>178916
>>178927
>the rules don't apply when I don't want them to
>>
>>178903
You technically died before the tinkerer, and considering the hit you used to kill him was invalid (not enough context, please followed the sentence rule) I'm fine with them retrieving the tools.

As far as I can see you left behind some dynamite and didn't revive (if you did revive, please direct me to your revival post where it clearly states you did so, and what you revived with) thus leaving the tools up for grabs.
>>
>>178934
Because it doesn't make sense.

OP?
>>
>>178940

I give the wizard's cloak to the marine, then turn and set to work, spending the mimic's building materials to upgrade the tent.

tent + 1 building mats = cottage

Soon a cottage sits where the tent did, the new seat of my kingdom.

>>178946
The point is you haven't even been making an effort to RP. Go fuck yourself.
>>
>>178946
You mean here?
>>178544
Cause I'm seeing three sentences.
>>
>>178945
>>178532
And unlike King I technically followed the prompt for attacking.
>>
>>178959
You mean two?
And you consider conversing part of attacking.
>>
>>178958
Hey can we take the materials off claw guy since he's sleeping in here? If so we can dismantle the dynamite and upgrade to a cottage. Then we can get closer to a fortress and get a proper capital for the king and his subjects.
>>
>>178976
*Cabin not cottage*
>>
>>178960
Hey, all you lost was some dynamite. And this is a /qst/ thread dear, you've got to put some time into your posts. I'm happy to have you here. But listen, I've already overlooked the discrepancies in your battle and that doesn't seem to satisfy you. Let's be good sports like Tink and the Wizard were and move on.

I could give you a consolation prize if you like! There are plenty of dog bowls in the darkness..

However! It is in my power to do much upon your revival.

King Killer // a small dagger designed to pierce armor. Converts negated AHCs into regular strikes, allowing them to do damage but not instakill when a 0 is rolled during a dodge.

Once more, does earth and rock form once more to a human figure, before transforming into flesh and bone once more. This figure lies in the earth, dormant, her head wondering. Perhaps it is not brute strength but vassals that are required.

Sensing the light of a lattern nearby, she begins digging ahead of it, and once out of sight, claws out the twisted earth into yet again darkness. Her spirit and body renewed.

(If I'm recording this correctly V should have two, the cleric 3, King & Doom have one apiece because they just pooled the last two they had before into the Fallen Star, and Scorp should have.. 3 as well? You don't get a token at respawn unless you have none left and die by someone elses hand.

I watch as the shield stop my attack but shatters at my allys. I run up to it quickly. I then attempt a point blank shot.
>>
>>180113

Ok so i missed. both of you roll your attacks, and then we roll it's dodge.
>>

>>180113
The ent fails to counter the failed attack

the ent was able to swat the masked madman away but the madman angled the slam with such dexterity to avoid any kind of significant damage.

Roll for counter against Scorpion girl
The ent sees the charging scorpion and yells a deafining scream as one of it's legs starts to ready for a devastating kick.

>>180114
Mr V. the combat mechanics are shown in the first post of the thread. But essentially, first strike needs to hit either 1-3 to sucessfully hit, after than you are locked into combat wherein the outcome is determined by dodge/counter rolls which succeeds on evens and fails on odds.
>>
Rolled 3 (1d10)

>>180132
(our roll)

the wounded star quickly closes the distance, and I'm unable to get a shot off. PErhaps though, I can still fend her off...

"Shoot her!"
>>180135
Counting this miss as responding to this post.

(To simplify things, I'll just tell you when I'm posting the end o a round so you know when to roll.)
>>
>>180141
Its not a miss due to my helmet counting sevens as hits.
>>
>>180119
okay, I lost two tokens then. Sorry boss. ( i trust you can man the ent then?)
>>
Rolled 8 (1d10)

>>180141
The star's beautiful fingernails rake across my face, and she falls back, satisfied with the damage she's done.

Once again I take aim. Once again I fire.
>>
>>180139
For the record, my mask counts 1-3, 7 as hits
>>

(Failed Roll)
In response, I leap to the air and gouge out marks upon its wooden flesh, the scars decaying from venom, before leaping back.
>>
>>180146
Ah, you're right. Next star roll will be a dodge against you then.
>>
Rolled 5 (1d10)

>>180135
As the star streaks by me, you open fire at point blank range. She notices at the last second, but it might be enough for her...

(Right, you got it (: If an enemy dodges even one attack from any opponent it nullifies the attacks or misses/fumbles from all opponents. It then chooses a counter target and that target must make a dodge roll against the enemy counter while his allies either disengage or attack again. If the ally dodging fails his roll he is struck, and the enemy need only dodge the attacks from the a single attacking ally and choose a new target to counter)
>>
Rolled 5 (1d10)

>>180153
okay, noted when I'm acting out any enemies when op isn't around.

The cleric, seeing two of his companions charging in, feels a sudden sense of familiarity, the familiarity of comrades fighting together! He roars a saying! BLESSED BE OUR FURY! as he charges in with his mace in tow for a strike
>>
Rolled 6 (1d10)

>>180172
There's an earpiercing cry, and once again the shotgun slams a star to the ground, where she crumbles to dust. Striding to the corpse, I eat the dust and collect the tealight token she leaves behind.

"Shall we take another? I rather fancy being nigh invincible. We have three tokens between the two of us, we could always complete the fortress as well."
>>
>>180177
If an enemy has only 1 heart, does a free strike kill them?
And does each action from a member of the fight constitute as a turn?
>>
>>180187
wait, do we have three tokens? I may have miscounted.
>>
>>180149
(Not tonight ): I've invested about 12 hours trying to get this qst solid and secure for everyone to enjoy today.. now my family is throwing a tantrum and demanding food haha.. the star shall shine upon the morrow! I'm excited to return)
>>
>>180192
I say we begin costruction of the fortress. The question is which is more efficient for tokens, mimics or ents?
>>
>>180189
the way i understood it, all allies attack at the same time. defender makes one dodge roll if any of the attacks land. then they either die or counter attack.
>>
>>180195
hahaha Okay man, great job btw, when will you come back?
>>
Rolled 5 (1d10)

>>180183
Seeing her ally miss, she leaps to strike down the foul beast once and for all. The wooden construct is on its last legs, venom seeping into its roots. In only a few turns will they reap its reward.
>>
>>180189
(Only your actions and the actions of your opponent count towards the free strike counter, but yes, a free strike would kill them)
>>
>>180204
So the opponent attacking or defending against another would count towards this counter.
>>
Rolled 3 (1d10)

>>180183
As the cleric yells, giving away its position, the ent readies for another swipe to hopefully send the man flying backwards
>>
>>180202

>>
Rolled 7 (1d10)

>>180197
"Both are equal I believe. But an ent would be faster. Hold on to your token we shall have a mimic to fight afterwards."

Lifting both tokens that I have left, I throw them to the ground, where they begin to grow into a large tree. It glares down at us, but before it can strike, I fire!
>>
>>180218
(Yep! Its still an action. And remember, their move after your initial hit or dodge is turn 1. Your initial hit or dodge simply starts the counter)
>>
Rolled 3 (1d10)

>>180224
Seeing this large tree I am awed. But quickly I take aim. We need it to complete our fortress!
>>
Rolled 4 (1d10)

The ent missed the cleric, but the swipe made the cleric reorient his step, stopping his charge and making him halt for a moment, The ent sees the scorpion lunging at the it and tries to swing its body gather momentum to swipe at the incoming scorpion.

Picking up a rock, the scorpiongirl throws it at the ent. It is used for distracting, nothing else. She knows that the venom will kill the ent.

The rock leaves a small dent to the ent. But it is enough to draw its ire. It sees who attacked it and roars, rushing towards its target.

The scorpiongirl smirks, pointing at it, before stating
"You are already dead."
The ent explodes into puddles of venom and heaps of wood.

The Marine deftly steps back and plants a shotgun blast squarely in the ent's face. It reels back enraged, and I open fire with deadly accuracy. It may not be dead yet though, as it attempts to dodge.
>>
>>180253
oh, it is already three turns? lol that was quick.

As the masked madman rips open the ent from it's center, the sudden gushing out of the settling gasses made by the venom creates a tiny explosion that completely destroyed the ent. the madman along with the cleric was sent flying from the explosion.their flesh was covered with splinters but all resulted with meager wounds.

The cleric stood up, and thought to himself, Now this is a warband!

For days and nights we labor, but time doesn't seem to work the same way here. A great castle arises from our labor, and I, King Robert, finally take my throne.

*the "dawn" of the land is ushered forth by the return of a distant star, its soft glow shining dimly in the dark*

*a pale red hue emanates from the heavenly body, signifying a change of sorts, but to what extent?*

*its maternal energies seem to no longer be present, and instead gives off the impression of peering over a cold shoulder to the land below*
>>
(Just a few comments and such before the day gets rolling)

>>180497
(Forts require two separate buildings and the mats, it's not an upgrade system)

(Got a few changes to be posted soon, nothing major, just a bit more content and balancing acts - chiefly tweaking combat and equipment drops)

(The star is in strange humour today, use caution if you plan on praying)

(After the new content gets tossed in, I've got an event planned for everyone present a couple of hours afterwards)

(Quick poll, is anyone interested in me working on an item crafting system? Personally I'm comfortable with items strictly being drops from summons, players, and prayer but I've got an old system I never perfected from another project that could be dusted off and polished)

(You intrepid pioneers have brought this world a long way and now that you have some really amazing battles under your belt.. oh wait. You guys are naked.)

*a light shines unto all awoken currently present, and when you wake you'll find yourselves equipped with the following item*

Belt w/ canteen of dark water - works like a tealight token in combat but RESTORES hp instead of protecting against hp loss. Unlike tealight tokens (which take effect regardless of a failed or successful roll) the roll with which you use this item must pass. Can be used against fatal blows. Stays in inventory upon death. Can be given up. Can be broken down into materials. DOES NOT protect against autohit counters. If hit by an ahc you cannot use this item to negate the damage.

(Belts are clothes, right? Whatever. That should give you a bit more ground against summons and make killing them for items less risky)

(An hp cap is in the works, so don't go overboard with the stardust. It may be better to gear hunt with your tokens)
>>
>>181065
I kinda expected that, we already have 4 material so I'll go ahead and build the cottage leaving us with 1. I wouldn't mind a crafting system also since it would add a bit more depth into the game. About the canteen, what kind of roll is needed to get the heal?
>>
>>181065
(Oh and before I go breaking the realm again - your canteen can only be used once per engagement. Like your hp pool, it is restored ONLY after you COMPLETELY leave combat)

(:

(There is also a preparation phase to initiate combat now. If you're going to attack another player, you must be out of combat and you have to type a four sentence post to let them know you're about to come at them. If they acknowledge the post they are then "engaged" in combat with you and you get the first move. If they don't acknowledge your approach before your next post you get an initiative bonus and can attack next post anyway and then they MUST acknowledge you. Sentence rules still apply. Anyone not adhering to this rule loses favor, will be ineligible for worldwide blessings, and will have their prayers ignored)

(Acknowledging an approach requires 1-2 sentence. This can include dialogue and you can acknowledge them during battle with a different enemy. Your akcnowledgement sentences count towards your current combat move)

Ex - A distant star is approached. Whilst typing her dodge roll actions she cries out, "I see you there you dastardly ne'er-do-well!" She succeeds her dodge roll (or fails it) and is now engaged with two enemies. Standard rules against multiple opponents now apply.

Ex2 - a distant star is approached. She doesn't acknowledge the approach in time and rolls against her current enemy. Her roll post falls after the new attackers initiative bonus. If her new attacker landed a hit, she is now engaged with multiple enemies and standard rules apply.

(At the time of approach, your enemy has the option of running away or entering their tent. Their run post must be made before your initiative post or they enter combat. They cannot run if already engaged in battle. If they enter a tent you're SoL. If they run you can keep chasing them until you get a successful bonus post)

How initiative bonus works-
Standard hit parameter (min+0)-(max+1)
If your hit parameter was 1-3 it becomes 1-4 with the bonus
If your parameter was 1-4 it becomes 1-5
with the bonus

(This bonus always applies to summons, and should help clear up issues with combat clarity and ridiculous fumbling rates)

(Please remember sentence rules apply to attacking. That includes attacking with the bonus)
>>
>>181092
(I'll get started on crafting soon, in that case. Canteens work with dodge rolls, so even numbers + modifiers)
>>
>>181160
(Also tents/scructures cannot be used in battle ATM and the option to enter a structure or run requires you to be out of combat)

(If you have any questions, I'll be checking in occasionally while I rework item crafting, prep new enemies/gear, and do a few balancing acts)
>>
*I walk to the porch of the cabin and yell out* Hello!? Anybody out there in the darkness?
>>
>>181303
the distant yelling wakes up the cleric, He arose from his slumber pleasantly surprised to see himself housed in small shelter.

"they must have carried me here after the fight..... I really need to take care of myself better before I get my warband in trouble"

He leaves the the safety of his tent, as he tries to figure out the direction of that distant yelling.

(Nearly finished with the updates. Gonna make a new thread one they're done)

Awakening, she hears the sounds of her ally. Grabbing her items, she heads the direction of the sounds, noticing the voice of her enemy as well.

My allegiance is to the king, for a simple reason you should see, order. This land is infested with beasts that will slay you without a second thought. But thanks to our toil we have almost finished our capital, a bastion against evil that will be impenetrable. But not only are there beasts, other awaken have taken to murder and banditry. One such bandit is a strange hybrid of scorpian and human.

Approaching the noise, she sees the Doom Marine and Saturius talking, and moves near but keeps her distance.
"Hey!"
>>
>>182057
>Scorpion and Human
bandit! That is slander! I have seen her in battle and she has shown no intent of banditry in our encounter!

the idea of serving on the side of order does tempt the cleric, but his allegiance to the warband prevents him from making a decisive decision.

If you are truly a force for order, I'll expect that you will enact your actions with justice, any failure to do so will be a deathmark on the head of your king that I will labour to collect. Now soldier, I bless thee farewell, I pray we meet again, hopefully in an event that would provide me more clarity on the true aspects of your allegiance and your liege lord. may the maker smile on your quest.

Beast, What brings you here? Have you come to accompany me back?
>>
>>182097
Choose to believe what you want but you'll see her true intensions soon enough.
>>182068
Ah look! The girl herself. been holding out on telling your friend some information I see. Ha, I wouldn't expect less from you.
>>
>>182102
"I heard some noise, decided to investigate."
>>182106
"That's rich, coming from you."

I step out of the cabin, staring disdainfully at the scorpion. Lamplights glimmer off my breastplate, and my weapon is in my relaxed hands, pointed down.

"Cleric. I don't believe we've been introduced. I am King Robert Oppenheimer, lord of this realm protector of all the light still left in it. Why has one such as you allied yourself with a dangerous bandit like this? I imagine she told you nothing of her crimes."
>>
>>182134
*realm and
>>
>>182134
"Protector, hmm? I suppose that's why you threaten your first and second vassal, and forcing another to fight for your so called protection."
>>
>>182140
"You can lie and twist the truth all you like, monster, but you started this quarrel. You allied yourself with a dark sorcerer in a weak attempt to overthrow me. If that wizard had truly been as weak as he looked, did you think I would have truly let that creature kill him?

I saw through his charade just as I see through yours."
>>
>>182134
The lord of this realm.......

Crimes? this beast has shown valor that I've see few possess. certainly what she has done couldn't be as what was said!
>>
>>182140
Oh really? I joined out of my own accord as soon as sensing his noble blood and knew he was the best chance of rebuilding this world.
>>
>>182150
"Ah yes, how could I misinterpret your claim of blowing up your marine if he did not join you, or how you threatened to kill your second vassal had he not joined you or offer a sacrifice. Or how about staying in your tent while he died fighting a knight."
>>
>>182150
>>182140
this talk of betrayal and magic is madness.

The cleric steps away from both parties.
>>
>>182156
"All has happened as I have said, and more. When she was defeated after her initial treachery, she later attacked my knight and I whilst we were fighting off a creature of the dark. Even then, we defeated her.

This beast has no honor. I do not know how you met her, but she may have sought you out so as to even the odds."
>>
>>182164
(You weren't there for literally any of that)

"I do what is needed to protect the realm. All that have attacked or killed my vassals have been punished harshly. I cannot always interfere, but I do not suffer aggression lightly. In this realm of darkness, I cannot."
>>
>>182168
beast, I have witnessed your fury firsthand, and from that alone won you my respect. however such allegations tarnishes our warband, tell me this cannot be so, explain your side! I would prefer to keep my mace clean of your blood but if justice commands.... i follow it.....
>>
>>182168
"Shall I remind how you nearly perished against this weak foe?

And to speak of honor as you threaten those who do not accept your tyranny? You let your men die while you squander fighting weak constructs."
>>
>>182189
"I will hear no more of these poisonous words. My men follow me because mine is the side of justice and order. Order by its nature must be enforced. It is a shame that you cannot understand that.

I offered you and all others who have committed crimes against the kingdom amnesty last night. You may accept it, or you may choose to continue your...current lifestyle. But I will not offer a second time."
>>
>>182184
Such actions aren't proper for a lord, it seems more common for weak-willed sellswords and scoundrels! to let your men die while you dance with inferior beings! such actions aren't de rigueur to a lord of order!
>>
>>182205
You see chaplain, let me inform you. He has fought foes just as I have. Together we have been building the kingdom. The only time I was forced to go alone was when a hat wearing creature kept the king hostage and even then he jumped in when I got injured.
>>
>>182184
"You stayed in your tent as you watched him get sliced down for you. Only then did you attack."
>>182203
"You don't desire order or justice. You desire power. You let your men die, just so you can take their achievements as your own. You're no hero or king, you're a coward."
>>
>>182203
>>182189
Enought of this, I will overlook this encounter beast! but your misdirection will be remembered.

As for you, king pretender, I have yet to see the truth in your words, hope that what you say is true lest I rest my mace on your jaw.

The cleric goes back to the tent.
>>
>>182205
"I appreciate your position, cleric. But as lord of the realm, I cannot go rushing headlong into every conflict. If I were to fall, many priceless artifacts of essential use to my subjects would be lost. It represents a far greater risk to the kingdom to have the king on the front lines.

This I can tell you honestly: my men do what they do willingly, and I do not run when they are in danger. Think on that."

I turn to the scorpion.

>>182217
"And you should think on your decision. Consider your choice wisely, for you have already committed crimes for which I should hut you to the ends of the earth."
>>
>>182217
>"You stayed in your tent as you watched him get sliced down for you. Only then did you attack."
You weren't there for this either. Stop metagaming.
>>
>>182225
"Ah yes, to speak of your treachery and defending myself when you have your vassals attempt to kill, which you once more, only observe.

You lead your men to be slaughtered like sheep just so you look good."

The tomboy returns to the cottage.
>>
>>182255
And forgot trip.
>>
>>182255
"Halt!"

I raise my weapon and sight down it.

"You have chosen the life of an outlaw. You cannot expect to leave this place alive."

(Initiating combat as per OP's instructions)
>>
>>181160
>>182263
>(At the time of approach, your enemy has the option of running away or entering their tent. Their run post must be made before your initiative post or they enter combat. They cannot run if already engaged in battle. If they enter a tent you're SoL. If they run you can keep chasing them until you get a successful bonus post)
"How pathetic. But I wouldn't expect less from a man whom kingdom comes from threats. But I'll stay in this cottage."
>>
>>182295
Lucky you happened to mention leaving.

"Run all you like, monster. I will come for you."
>>
>>182263
>>182295
Just leave this bandit. We have more important things to do. We should start searching for ents and mimics to finally finish the fort. We only need 3 more material.
>>
>>182312
I look up the sky.

"The star does not seem to be taking much notice of us for the time being. I suspect we will have little luck finding what we need."

"The murderer, on the other hand, has some more. If only Sir Claw were here, we could assault her dwelling and kill that coward once and for all."
>>
>>182328
Very well then, lets retire to the cabin until the tinkerer or claw guy return. If they dont we'll just have to wait for the star.
>>
>>182339
"She can't hide there forever. Sooner or later she'll leave, once she has puppets to even her odds. As if that will stop us."

I sigh.

"The cleric may very well turn against us when we try to hunt her down. I shall not enjoy being forced to be his enemy. We need subjects committed to civilization."
>>
>>182351
There is no need to hunt her down yet. The cleric can still be brought over however. As soon as she shows signs of what we told him I wouldnt be surprised if he returns to us. But for now we just wait.
>>
>>182328
>>182351
"Shit dude, you're literally going to murder someone other than me over fucking wood, quit lying to your allies." says the scorpiongirl, peering over the window of the cottage.
>>
>>182364
I shoot a fierce glare towards the window.

"What I wouldn't give for some matches..."

>>182363
"The longer we let her live, the more strength she amasses. Soon she might even be able to challenge the kingdom. She dies every time we get word that she's nearby, until she stops coming back. She has the gall to kill my vassals, to ambush us twice, and act like we are the villains? I won't tolerate it."
>>
>>182383
More sounds come from the window, "Like dude, you literally sent a guy to kill me for telling the truth and whine when I kill him. Not only that, you want to kill my ally who doesn't even know what occured."
>>
>>182413
"Wrong. I don't want to kill your 'ally.' I want to kill you."

>>182363
"Let us go home. This beast is getting on my nerves."
>>
>>182418
"And that's why you stated the fact he had a collection of tokens which you need, along with wishing to invade and burn down our cottage?"
A head pops out the window
"Also why the fuck are you discussing this out our cottage, I thought for a scienist, you'd be smarter."
The head returns to the safety of the cottage.
>>
>>182427
Actually I wasn't. I never said I followed you. But you started talking to me and I rolled with it.
>>
>>182427
"Did you think, when I said 'murderer,' that I meant your ally? That's rich. I meant you."

I turn, and go home.
>>
>>182418
Well now we just wait for something to happen.
>>182427
>>182439
I kinda assumed you 2 were having a passive aggressive shouting match from our respective homes.
>>
>>182447
ahahahah
>>
>>182446
"Sure you did, I only killed your vassal once he attacked me. One kill in self defense doesn't make a murderer."
>>
>>182476
I don't hear this, since I've left. Unfortunately I lack your magical powers of omniscience which allow you to see multiple events that occurred either far away from you or before you even awakened.
>>
>>182483
The land rumbles as it is torn apart, the darkness filled with white as your body emits pure salt from every orifice possible, causing the realm itself to expand to the brim, before releasing its everflowing sodium to the beyond.
>>
*a brilliant flash of light is seen throughout the land and the star is glowing brighter than ever before*

*her voice booms forth*

Madman V is now owner of the Madmans Machete

Doom Marine is now owner of the Doom Helmet

Scorpion Girl has had her weapons balanced and buffed

The King is now the owner of the Lords Breastplate

The Good Cleric now possesses the Clerics Holy Tome

Combat, summoning, and items have been slightly reworked

Curious what this means?
