Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time and flung him into the future, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku!

“You, Assassin, are the greatest warrior of your land. You have shown yourself useful to me and for that, I have spared your family and homeland. However, if the Samurai continues to pester me, I may decide that your home is not worth...protecting any longer.”
You stand in front of the darkness of Aku. You are thankful for the mask that obscures your trembling face from this monster.
“I realize you have proven yourself already in battle, but I have not witnessed this first hand,” said Aku, whose face contorted into a very slight, unsettling smile. “And so, assassin, I have brought you tests.”
Like liquid, Aku melted away into the cracks of the ground, leaving only the ere of darkness. Then, coming from seemingly nowhere, his voice returned, “Defeat your enemies and prove yourself a tool worthy of my use. Through only this can you protect those you cherish.”
Hearing a slight whistling in the air behind you, you turn to find several shuriken flying your direction.
What do you do?

You raise your Gatling Pistol, letting off one shot of the virtually limitless ammunition that you have at your disposal. The single bullet connects with the first shuriken, ricocheting off of it onto the one behind it. Your bullet pinballs around until all the shuriken have been struck down.
Looking the direction where they were thrown, you see nothing. You approach the shuriken on the ground when you hear a faint beeping.
These shuriken are set to explode!
You dive out of the way, barely being singed by the fireball that engulfs where you once stood.
Four more shuriken seem to appear out of nowhere. You dodge to the left this time, but they follow you, giving you a small cut on the arm.
What do you do?
>A. You're fast. Outrun them and shoot them down.
>B. You're strong, take the hit. Show your enemy it is pointless.
>C. You're strong, but not taking explosions strong. Find some cover and look for whoever is controlling these things.

You’re faster than these things. With guns in hand, you take off like the bullets you carry. The Shuriken seem to increase in speed to catch you, but there’s no chance they’ll reach. You begin picking them off one by one, each bullet causing a small explosion.
This begins to wear on you though. You can’t keep up this deadly game of tag forever. You dive for some cover and try to hold it to give yourself time to rest.
That’s when you notice the pale red blinking light coming from the shurikens.
Thinking quick, you shoot up dust from the ground. The whole area is covered in a fog of dust. The mask you wear filters it out so that you can breath just fine. The dim, red blinking allows you to pick out the shurikens in the dust storm.
You suddenly see one that appears out of nowhere several meters away. That might be where your opponent is.
Sprinting there in seconds, you find the rubble of a building ripped apart by an explosion. Standing on top of the rubble, you point your gun down to find the controller of the shuriken and are surprised by a young girl smiling at you as if you caught her stealing candy. In her hands is a joystick, probably used to control the shuriken.
What do you do?
>A. Shoot her. You need to protect your family.
>B. Knock her out. No point in killing without a contract.
>C. Say something to her.

Oh and since there aren't a ton of us and I want this to go fast, if there isn't a clear majority after like 10ish minutes, I'll combine all the options as best I can.

With a flick of the wrist, you bring the pistol down on her head, knocking her out cold. You begin walking away when the image of Aku torturing and killing your family enters your mind. You pause and turn around to face the now unconscious girl.
She couldn’t be more than a teenager.
You raise the gun and let a single bullet rip through her head, leaving her leaking blood and brain matter on the ground.
You take a deep breath and begin walking away.
Aku’s voice echos all around you, “Good, good my friend. You have the instincts and drive of a killer! You will need this to hunt down the Samurai.”
Your shadow begins to move and disconnect from your body and you see that the shadows of the buildings are doing the same. They come together to form Aku, who laughs. “I must warn you though, Gunslinger, you are not my only assassin. And if one of my other assassins prevails in killing the Samurai, I cannot guarantee your family’s safety.”
Aku’s smile is twisted and makes you sick to your stomach. As he laughs, you begin walking away, going through your list of contacts that might know where the Samurai is.
Where will you fight him?
>A. A barmaid reported seeing him in the Crater. The radiation should kill a man, but he seems to walk through it untouched.
>B. Some hunters in the woods were supposedly chased out by a man with a sword, protecting the animals. Use the forest to your advantage and fight him there.
>C. The sprawling New Track City has seen several sightings that match the description of the Samurai.

The heat of the eruptions around causes your cloak to stick to the skin that isn’t covered in armor. It’s been nearly a week since you began tracking your target. He seems to be using the intense heat from the volcanos to train. Now, after a particularly intense training session, he is resting. Wearing a white cloak that covers most of his body, you have no idea how that swordsman bears this heat. The past week, he only descended the volcano once to go to town. There, he bought a towel and soaked it in cold water, tying it around his head as he scaled back up the mountain.
Is this guy even human?
How do you approach your target?
>A. Guns blazing. Catch him off guard.
>B. Wait for him to fall asleep and then go in for a headshot up close.
>C. Make some noise and lure him over here, then surprise him with a flurry of bullets.

We probably know Jack is a very skilled samurai so just straight up shooting him may not work well even if we somehow manage to catch him off guard. Do we have some sort of bomb or grenade? Make some noise to lure him out and, then throw the grenade towards him, even if he can jump out of the way, at least you can hope that the ground would get blown up and the lava can do the work for you.

You remain at your hiding spot and take out one of your gatling pistols. He’s a swordsman so it’s smartest to keep your distance. You’re about 50 meters away from him currently. Adjusting for wind and taking aim, you fire.
The sound of metal colliding with metal can be heard as the swordsman reflects the bullet using his sword.
Damn. Nice reflexes.
You fire another few shots but the Samurai dodges your bullets, jumping from one boiling hot rock to the other. Only a pair of wooden sandals separate his feet from the scorching hot earth, heated by the magma that originally created it.
As he gets closer, you notice the look on his face. He approaches you with a confident smile. He isn’t surprised. It’s like he knew you were there and was just waiting for you to attack. How long has he known? Were you ever hidden from him at all?
You put those thoughts out of your head for now.
What’s your next move?
>A. Unleash a volley of bullets. You can fire your gatling pistols for hours before they run out of ammo.

>C. Lure him closer to the volcano. He might be strong, but if you knock him in, there’s no coming back.

This is bad. This guy can dodge bullets AND deflect your bullets with that sword. Plus you probably can’t even hide from him.
He’s not human. He can’t be.
But you’re more than a human too. You’re a human with a bunch of grenades.
You begin tossing grenade after grenade his direction, and unleash a hail of bullets. There’s no way he can dodge all of that.
The grenades begin going off one by one, ripping through the rock around it. The Samurai dodges the first few explosions but disappears inside the smoke as the grow more numerous. You continue to fire into the fire and smoke as two more explosions rip through your ears, leaving a ringing behind.
You stop firing as the smoke begins to clear to see if you can spot him.
There he is, emerging from the settling dust and smoke. His hair is undone and he’s scratched up. He’s not smiling anymore.
Oh shit what do you do?
>A. Oh shit, run.
>B. Stand and face him. Try to appeal to his honor.

Keep harassing him with the bullets and when he commits to chasing us, start running away while shooting like we did with the shurikans
You backtrack slowly firing bullet after bullet at the Samurai walking briskly towards you. He deflects or dodges each one with ease until he is almost at your face.
You’re panicked. But you’re more than just panicked. You’re fast.
As he approaches, you ask the samurai, “Ever played russian roulette?”
The samurai stops his approach. He ignores your question and speaks. “You made a mistake.”
That seems like a bit of an understatement to you right now.
“Once an hour, the volcano growls.” As if the entire fight was timed for this, the volcano lets out a noise like a hungry beast, the low rumbling so intense, you cover your ears.
“I could not have heard your shot if you had waited.”
You’re in shock. But rather than face death at his hands, you run backward. The Samurai is surprised by your sudden fleeing and takes a second to regain his composure before giving chase.
He doesn’t seem too much faster than you. If you keep up a full sprint, maybe you can lose him. Maybe you can get yourself together and get a better plan next time.
That’s when the ground beneath you is replaced with thin air, hot magma several meters below. You’ve been running toward the volcano this whole time.
You picture your family as you fall. Maybe Aku will just forget about him. You’re not his only assassin. He’s probably more focussed on punishing the ones that are alive.
But you aren’t falling anymore. You look up to find the samurai with both hands on your foot. He saved you.
What do you do?
>A. Let him pull you up
>B. Shoot him now! (1d100 best of 3)

This seems like the end. You aim your gun and the Samurai's eyes widen. He's left you an opening.
but instead you mutter out your last words, "Thanks for the catch."
Aiming your gun up, you shoot at his hand. He instinctively recoils, clutching his bloodied knuckles and you fall down toward the depths of the volcano.
You have a feeling your family will be alright. Your son will grow strong, your daughter beautiful, and your wife sad, but okay. Your world goes dark before you even touch the bottom of the lake of fire.
