Continuation of a written quest here a couple weeks ago. Done with exams so figured I'd see if there's still any interest.
---
>Your tribe was massacred by raiders. Only a few of you managed to escape with your lives.
>Two in particular, fled for the forested region to the north and managed to take refuge with a group of nomadic traders.
>Pleased with your trapping skills, they accepted you into their tribe and provided you with a decently good living.
>Over a month has passed and the nomads packed up and moved on, and while you were unwilling to go with them, the farewells were warm and they even left you with some supplies as a parting gift.
>You now have the valley the nomads had been living in to yourself, though by scouting the surrounding areas, particularly the forest region you have discovered a river to the north fed by a large lake. You are aware of two other tribes who appear to live along the river and lake respectively.
>Other than that though, to your knowledge you are fairly alone in the immediate area of the region.
That is, except for the raiders who attacked your original tribe. You haven't seen them since the attack, but you worry they may find you again. So without further ado, what do?
>Info about your standing to follow.
Members of your tribe
>Urudike, a skilled craftsman
>Ileomi, a skilled hunter
>???, Uru's wife from the nomad tribe, skilled with cooking
Unaccounted for is a boy from your original tribe who has been helping you out by scouting with his pet wolf, but he isn't truly part of your group yet.
In your possession beyond personal belongings, are a few days worth of dried foods, a nomad style tent, bedding for the three of you, and several lengths of colored cloth that the nomads preferred.
You also have some various trinkets both from your original tribe and the nomads, as well as small valuables like some dyes and food additives, but these have more of a cultural value and so are not of immediate importance.
>The three of you are in the valley by the stream. It is late morning, and clouds loom. The three of you have cleaned for the day and eaten too, though. What now? Of note, the scout boy hasn't yet returned from the last task you gave him.
>>156472
I say tell everyone to stock pile fire wood to start making charcole for fires and stones for building.
After the charcoal is on it way send out Ileomi out to find any kind of fruits, berrys our vegetation she know is ediable.
While Ileomi is gone have Urudike and his wife making mud bricks and pottery.
>Is this day to day or can we study new tech and shit?
>>156472
go hunting with lleomi and see if Urudike can maybe make some sharp shit or ranged shit.
>>156500
Currently this ranges from daily to weekly, since the tribe is so small. As size increases, timescale and actions (research, building) will increase as well.
To that end, you decide to start delegating duties. Illeomi can go out to hunt and also gather wood, though she is not a good forager so things like fruits and vegetation are outside of her experience.
From the stream though, you can certainly draw mud and clay, and between Uru and his wife, their combined experience is enough to make pottery. Unfortunately masonry is a bit above them since the nomads lived in tents and your old tribe made basic wooden constructions.
>>156501
Ileomi in her downtime can make basic weapons quite well, out of wood and whatever small stone is available. Already she has a full complement of hunting gear which can double as weapons.
---
In both of these cases, should these duties be extended for the week, or just a day(s) until a certain goal is reached?
>>156517
Eh, I would say do weeks at a time so things don't get to slow.
>have Uru study stone tools like a stone ax or spear for fishing.
>Ileomi make what a set of weapons for everyone, showing them the basics on how to use them and defend themself if need be.
>For Uru wife if she doesn't have a profession other then cooking have her study foraging/farming.
>>156517
I say for a week, we do need day by day updates on hunting and gathering wood.
have Uru make us a small shelter for all 4 of us in case the weather turns ugly.
lleomi is the lioness
>>156558
dont need*
>>156555
This isn't that kind of a high-pace game, like the civ games. It's more small scale group interaction and dynamics. It's possible that things could eventually advance to a larger scale but that will take actual work, not just an ability to fast forward to when a city exits.
As for the duties though, Uru with his crafting skills is capable of working towards very rudimentary tools in time, and sets about doing so. Illeomi is well capable of making weapons for everyone in her spare time, though training the others will take awhile. Uru's wife (a name would be nice) also has skills at working with textiles but such skills are not immediately pertinent to the group survival. In what little free time she and Uru have though, since currently the main focus of the group seems to be protection, Uru can train her to forage for which he has some basic skills in.
>>156558
Originally the pace was supposed to be number of days passed for every member of the tribe.
Anyway, Uru setting up shelter (at least where the group is, in the valley) isn't necessary because the group has the nomad tent given to them. It's fairly small but can house four people well enough and provides basic shelter.
Illeomi takes to her duties as usual though, and is always quite good at it. If nothing else, the group won't go hungry if she's on the job, and their nutrition will remain relatively high with a mostly-meat diet.
After several days, the scout boy returns with his wolf, sharing with you his findings and expanding on your vague map of the region.
>Red X is you, the group
>Purple Circle is a small tribe at the river fork
>Orange Triangle is a larger tribe on the shores of the lake
The different colors of green represent the increasing density of the forest region, and the black lines represent cliffs. Blue is the stream leading to river, obviously.
For the coming week, also give order to the scout boy. Also, if you care to, what sort of activity and interaction should the group follow with each other? This contributes to group culture, and relationships.
>>156591
Hmmm if that is the case.
>I would say have Ileomi make a set of hunting tools for the young scout and start teaching him basic hunting and tracking.
I guess Ileomi should be the den mother, she'll train any children/new recruits in the tribe.
>For Uru and (I don't Faun?) Uru's wife go out to the river filling up the new pottery with water and collecting stones and firewood.
Can we have what the relationships and already standing culture amongst the people?
>>156591
get the little orphan annie to go scout out the surrounding area and draw it out with some mud and a rock. or if he can remember it long enough we can get some clay and he can draw it on the clay and then it can harden for a permanent map.
if he cant do those things than just get him to hunt while lleomi trains the group.
Uru and Faun should maybe try constructing something to hold our stuff like a backpack made of tree limbs and grass.
>>156665
>>156679
The scout, along with his wolf is phenomenal at tracking, enough to put even Illeomi to shame. She does however make him hunting tools and at some point will be able to teach him hunting if they both devote their time to it. With the tools given to him, he goes out to scout again for the week, after making a map with Uru on a flattened piece of white bark. Uru and his wife meanwhile busy themselves with basic gathering duties such as water, stones and wood, and in their free time manage to make something of a backpack in the form of a large basket which can be hung from the back by tying across the chest.
In terms of relationships, it roughly breaks down to
>The original tribe culture, plains hunter gatherers and well capable of living off the land, though not much in the way of arts or actual development.
>The nomads culture, an obviously nomadic trading people from far to the east, specializing in crafts. Particularly textiles which is central to their culture, with vibrant colored fabrics and intricate patterns and dyes.
The original tribe culture currently dominates since Faun is the only nomad, and they don't even speak her language nor she theirs (Uru is attempting to learn her language though, in their time together).
For actual relationships of the group,
>Illeomi is disliked by Uru and the scout boy, as she was considered cursed in the old tribe due to infertility
>Urudike is disliked by Ill for the previous reason, though gets on well with his wife despite the both of them being strangers almost
>Faun is disliked by Ill for being so different, from culture to race, but doesn't have any particular feelings towards Ill herself.
And the scout boy (name please), though he isn't officially part of the group yet so doesn't factor in.
So on top of orders in terms of duties, should the group try to behave in a certain way or act specifically towards one another?
>>156752
call the scout boy Pip
I think uru and lll need to settle their beef with a good old fashioned fight.
I believe Pip should be treated as an outsider for the most part.
And since Uru and Faun are together they should rely on each other and support one another once they can talk to each other.
what does our character do or are we just controlling these 4?
>>156752
Okay I guess put all their old grudges behind them, have a meeting to disscue and fix our problems.
>A house divide against itself can not stand.
Uru and Faun need to make up with Iloe and I think pip should be treated as a equal for his skills in tracking and mapping.
We should try to become closer to one and another so conquer everything. So teach we need to agree to a language that we can all understand.
> also for a second actions I think we should try our best to make stone tools If possible and better housing.
>>156782
When I say "you" I refer to the group as an entity which you control, sort of like a guiding spirit. Individuals can be personally controlled if the need arises or you just want to, but overall the tribe is supposed to function as a single being, unless specific actions are take otherwise or misfortune happens like the tribe losing members.
Pip it is, though it's worth noting that he did come from the original tribe, same as Uru and Ill. He remained distant while the nomads were around, but now remains distant because of Ill.
Ill meanwhile is getting sick and tired of being treated so poorly when she's doing the most work in terms of keeping the group alive. She confronts Uru about it and challenges him to a fight, which in the original tribe equated to beating each other with sticks till one person was left standing. Ill is at a natural disadvantage being female, but this is offset by her extreme physicality and hunting skills compared to Uru's lack of fitness and being a craftsman. The result is close and each person lands good hits, but Ill is left the victor. Interestingly, the fight itself didn't do much in the way of burying any hatchets, but the effort made by Ill to confront Uru and discuss her grievances gave him respect for her. They're not exactly friendly, but are now on roughly even speaking terms.
As has been the ongoing trend, Uru and Faun along with everything else they normally do, have been trying to improve their relationship and come to better understand one another. Uru overtime has picked up a basic vocabulary of Eastern Speak, Faun's language. Eventually in time they will be able to learn each other's language. To this end though, should Uru and Faun have any goals for their relationship moving forwards? Besides the obvious of being able to understand one another.
>>156832
Between the fight and a sit-down of sorts, the group are able to come to a better understanding of each other. Uru will treat Ill with more respect and try to not be hostile, if Ill will extend the same courtesy to Uru's wife. Faun doesn't really understand any of it, but she was never the one with problems, and is happy to be on better terms with Ill.
With the major concerns out of the way, there are no longer barriers to the immediate group increasing their relations with one another passively overtime. Well except for Pip, because he hasn't been involved greatly yet. Speaking of a common language, it would seem that the logical option would be to go with that of the former tribe, Plains Speak. The majority of the group speaks it already, so only Faun would need to learn it.
As for those second actions, duly noted. Given some more time, Uru will be able to develop a stone axe as he is about a third of the way to understanding a tool such as that. Better housing is more an issue given that the group is fairly content with the tent (it is pretty comfy), so will need a reason to change.
>>156875
Cont.
---
Several days pass as the group goes about their duties as well as making an effort to spend time together to bond and better understand each other. As a result, their productivity also increases, and they are even starting to get a small stockpile of wood, stones, material for pottery, and most importantly food. Normally this would be a problem for things like meat, but Faun with her nomad background is well capable of preserving the food between smoking and salting, and shows the group how it's done. They don't pick up on it well, but the concept is appealing to them.
An issue arises however, when Pip returns with an injury to his arm. He informs you that while scouting, he ran afoul of a hostile group of people. They didn't seem to be from the two groups to the north in the forested region, and they also were not the raiders of the original tribe, but they did appear to be an actual small warband on on the prowl and looking for targets. He believes he was able to elude them, however he is not sure if they won't happen upon the valley where the group is staying on their own eventually.
Any actions in particular, with this information learned?
>>156893
I wanted to make a diffrent post for our groups.
>Uru and Faun should be live in their own house and talk with Ileo and Pip as if they are equals, but Faun should devote alot of her time to learn Ileo language.
>Because Ileo can't have any children and when he comes back hurt she gets a material feeling about Pip and insist she is the mother, she gets very angry if you try to tell her otherwise.
>Pip dieant realize Ileo wants to be his mother but still lives and works very closely with Ileo hunting and tracking he really enjoy being taken care of.
And for our action I guess have Ileo and Faun try to help Pips wounded arm while Uru really sits down and tries to devolpe a new kind of weapon.
>The bow and stone tipped arrows.
>>156915
>>156921
Currently orders that Faun would not be able to think of on her own are not possible, such as making an effort to learn Plains Speak. However when Uru gets to a point where he can convey that idea to her, she will do so. In the future as well there is the idea that Uru and Faun will try to get their own living quarters. Sharing a tent with Ill is alright, but it has made intimacy... difficult. Unless an action is taken where some sort of understanding is reached in regards to that.
On the front end though, Pips is tended to by Faun since she seems to have a very basic first aid sense. Honestly though Pips' skills in survival are more handy so he does most of the work. As for Uru's new weapon development, it's possible, however worth considering that the group is fairly competent at range between spears and a crossed throwing stake that Illeomi is deadly with. A bow can be developed but range is not where the group is mostly lacking in combat. Confirmation will set Uru on the path to a bow though, if that is still the priority.
>>156921
The lot of you sleep on the information, and decide it's probably for the best if you make yourselves scarce. You'll miss the valley, but the thought of six armed hostile people attacking you is not appealing.
After giving Pips a few more days to rest while the lot of you gather supplies, you finally send Pips ahead to scout the way you will be headed. The next day, the group packs up all it can carry, including the tent, and follows the stream out of the valley. You are forced to leave some things behind but it's nothing you won't be able to find again. You just hope it doesn't prompt the hostile group to do something like follow you.

>>156956
After about three days of light travel, given your equipment load, the group comes to the waterfall. This is the point at which after, the river begins. As such you will need to make a decision for which side of the waterfall you will scale, should you wish to continue.
Since neither the original tribals nor the nomads were water faring, the group doesn't possess the knowledge or skill required to make boats. As such this will make crossing the river dangerous if not impossible. So if scaling the waterfall is the plan of action, a choice will have to be made as to scaling the side on the west bank of the river or the east bank.
The west bank is the side on which the Purple Circle tribe is, while the east bank according to Pips is clear all the way to the lake, and will likely be safe to pass along unnoticed.
>What do? Chores and interpersonal group actions and interactions for the next several days while waiting for Pips to return from scouting ahead.
A side note that Faun has seemed pretty bewildered since entering into the forested region. As a nomad, she's never been in areas this heavily wooded.
>>156977
the gang should stay with their backs to the waterfall so nobody can sneak up on them, also they should keep the wolf on the perimeter as an early alarm system of sorts. Not scaling the falls is also beneficial because if they need to run the current will not pull them over the falls and they can swim to safety.
See if lleomi can fish anything with her spear, if she has one. ask Pip to climb the trees and make noise if he sees the war band.
Have someone sing a song of sorts to calm Faun down.
>>157007
>>156977
We need Uru to comfort Faun, for now make them build 2 simple huts for their clan.
>Later tonight have a event where Uru and Faun swim in the river in to moon light, cementing their relationship as husband and wife.
>Have Ileo start building a simple fire pit, after the fire is going have her go out and collect more wood and stone.
I still think Ileo should think Pip is her child and tries to raise him any time she's near him.
>Like trying to feed him, giving Pip tip, showing cool shit.
>>156977
Also I wanted to know, how does tech work? Like how would we progress to stone tools, or having wood cutting or fishing abilities?
>>157007
Well in this case "scale the waterfall" doesn't mean literally climbing the waterfall itself. To either side are more eroded parts of the cliff face. It's quite steep but not particularly dangerous to get up.
Either way though, the group decides for now, to set up camp by the base of the waterfall. That way at least, if danger does come they only have to defend from one side. Furthermore, when Pips returns he will be put on guard duty with his wolf.
Illeomi has trouble fishing with her hunting equipment, and indeed ends up doing better just by throwing big rocks into shallows where fish are. She manages to catch a few a day and the different type of meat is a nice change, but she isn't nearly able to collect as much meat as she would by hunting normally.
Also on the immediate end, Uru tries to calm Faun the first day by singing a song of the old tribe which Ill is able to join in on.
>>157039
It seems for now, the base of the waterfall will serve as a new home for the group. As such the tent is set up, as well as the makings of a simple lean-to from the collected wood.
When Pips returns on the fourth night, the group is able to make a fire pit. Ill can read the emotions and decides to go look for wood and stones to give, and takes Pips along with her. Given the time alone, Uru invites Faun to take a dip in the stream by the moonlight. In her tense state she initially thinks it to be simply an effort to get clean, though Uru makes an effort to comfort and engage her. Eventually she eases up and actually smiles for the first time in days. Together they have a swim together and a nice time in the stream, which leads into proper intimacy, the first real time to do so since the nomads left weeks ago. With Ill and Pips gone from the area altogether, the married couple come to find a shallow portion of the stream with mossy banks, and join bodies as husband and wife under the moon. It is a special experience for both of them, and their moods over the coming days remain high as their relationship strengthens.

>>157077
>>157039
Towards the situation of Ill and Pips, Ill herself is a young adult and while Pips is considered a boy, he's not too much younger. Because of this, Ill isn't really able to get into the mindset or feeling as his mother or mother figure. She is very capable of filling the role of an older sister type though, or just mentor.
This runs into kinks along the way though despite Ill's attempts to teach Pips and generally bond with him, because he is still suspicious of her as being cursed. Unlike Uru, Ill did not have an experience where she overcame the differences with Pips, so he still more or less dislikes her.
>>157043
Tech works by an amount of time spent developing it appropriate to how complicated of a development it is.
A big requirement is that the group has the experience or someone in the group has the experience, which would be relevant or serve as a precursor to the tech being developed.
So in the case of say, making a boat. No one in the group has any experience with boats or watercraft, so it would take the group a long time to come up with that kind of tech on their own. Compare that with something like making stone tools, for which the group already has wooden tools, it's not as big a leap so they can develop it in a shorter time.
I'd thought of making the process sort of numerical, or at least have a quantifiable system, if people would prefer that instead of how I'm doing it currently, which is a more vague method of development.
Also following, is the expanded map which Pips found from his scouting ahead.
>>157103
Here is a closer look at the river and lake to the north, as discovered by Pips' scouting. Of note that to the east bank of the lake, Pips discovered what he believes to be a rather large cave, seemingly uninhabited. Just a detail of note.
Also in the days that pass with the group living at the base of the waterfall, every so often they find things falling down from the river above. Simple things like small tools and trinkets, mostly wood. It's reasonable to assume that these things probably belonged to the tribes to the north along the river and lake, which must have washed downriver to come to you. Maybe these things fell out of boats, or were discarded into the river?
>What do for the coming week? Same as always, group actions, and interactions.
>>157114
Have Uru start looking around for stones that can easily be sharpened to make a stone ax to start chopping trees.
>If not just have him work on trying to learn better foraging.
Have Faun make some pottery with clay from the river and collecting what stones she can.
>Can she make a big cooking pot where we always have some food cooking.
Ileo and Pip should go hunting for small pray like rabbits and foxes. We can't waste anything use the pelts for clothes and guts for fishing bate.
The later that day have the whole explore the cave together to see if we can move our home in there.
>Ileo, after hunting, bonded a little bit with Faun. They talked what little they could whole Faun made pots and Ileo hunt up meat on the drying rack.
>Uru and Pip haven't talk but Faun has tried and failed to connect with the little one because of language barrier
>>156461
It's nice that you're back.
Sorry for the delay.
>>157170
Uru is the proper craftsman so making the pottery is his thing, but he very well can make a large cook pot, with the intent to have a stew going constantly. Faun though can take his duty of finding stones, and working together he can assist in her effort to make a stone axe. The progress made equates to a proper haft and sharpened stone head, though attaching the two is a problem encountered.
Ill and Pips turn to hunting, and Ill is able to set up an array of traps which catch smaller game. The furs will do nicely, as do the constituent parts. Bait for fish though is a outside the groups experience, as fishing is not an art they understand.
As for the cave, it would take scaling the east side of the waterfall and then several days trek to reach it by the lake. As such the group prepares to pack everything they can carry and depart for the north. During this time Ill and Faun become more familiar with one another, since they're doing the cooking and food prep together. Faun has not nearly learned as much Plains Speak as Uru has Eastern Speak, but she and Ill are able to establish some words together mostly pertaining to food and such. Faun also made an effort to try to get on better terms with Pips, but between the language barrier and his superstitious fear of her not much ground is made.
Cont. with action in the direction of the cave.
>>157399
After scaling the waterfall together, the group finds themselves on the east bank of the river. At the edge it is not so wide, but as they travel farther north it becomes too wide to be able to safely cross. After three days travel they come to a point along the river that is the closest to the Purple Circle tribe on the other side. Pips hasn't had dealings with them though, so can't say if they would be hostile or friendly. As such the group decides not to take chances and sticks to the forest to travel past them.
Another three days and the group finally reaches the banks of the lake, and it is quite massive, such that the other side can't be seen from the shore. They proceed to follow Pips to where he found the cave to be, and indeed there it is. A fairly good distance from the shore, decently hidden in the beginnings of some foothills leading to the rising slopes of the mountains beyond. It's also not too far from the forest so that hunting and foraging is still possible.
The only concern is as the group draws near, Pips' wolf perks up and begins to growl, and one by one the members of the group notice some bones in increasing amounts the closer to the cave. It would appear some sort of animal calls the cave its home.
>What do?
Cont. with updated map, and a little character info.
>>157420
The immediate area, based on the group's findings. The only new thing of note is an island way out into the lake.
Also some group stats;
>Urudike, 17, 5'6"
>Illeomi, 20, 5'4"
>Faun, 25, 6'0"
>Pips, 15, 5'0"
Also Faun is unique among the group for being a different race (black).
>>157480
Pips is a healthy boy who won't be deterred forever by a curse. Ill is the only other woman and he will try to get her to be his mate. He can always get a second woman later on.
>>157420
The cave monster will have to die. Spears and fire will be needed to kill it. Can we smoke it out? Build a fire in front of the cave and spear it when it comes out.
Thought this quest died.
>>157480
Set up traps, no need to get ourselves injured or killed over something dumber than us. Well figure out how big the animal is likely to be and make appropriate sized traps.
And I think it would be easier and quicker to make decent throwing spears or javelins, and slingshots, or "spear-throwers".
And for quick and easy mass production, we can fire-harden our pointed weapons instead of using precious stone.....
>>157480
Not yet, gather what you can from the area that look valuable and head north to the purple camp and ask about that cave.
>Know thy enemy and all of that.
Have Faun and Pip get scared whole Ileo shows no fear at all, giving her more respect among the lessers or the tribe.
>>157782
While Pips is of an age where girls are on the mind, it becomes a problem with Ill because neither of them are interested in one another in that way. Considering they haven't even had an event to get over their differences, an intimate relationship isn't on the table.
That, and it's hard to invest oneself into a mate that can't bear children. Unless it's supposed to be purely physical, but that will still take getting over the initial hurdle.
>>157784
>>157807
The group is of a mind to drive the cave dweller out. On the front end Ill figures a trap will be good, but if she assumes the animal to be big and dangerous then a bigger trap will be needed. As such she gets the help of the group to dig a trench and fill it with spears, even with everyone though this takes a day. That night is tense, fearful, but with everyone together about a fire, it passes without issue.
The next day with the pit made and concealed, the group sets about confronting the cave dweller by smoking it out. Taking a good amount of bravery, Ill and Uru go right to the cave mouth and build a large fire with most of the wood the group has collected, and even start throwing burning debris into the cave. It seems to work pretty well insofar as enough smoke is generated that it begins to backdraft even and Ill and Uru get a face full of smoke and stagger back out.
After awhile though, the group notices that some ways beyond the cave mouth itself, smoke can be seen rising from behind the hillocks that the cave opens into. It would appear based on this, that there is another opening into the cave, or at least another means of airflow into and out of it.
Otherwise time passes uneventfully for most of the day, despite Ill continuing to feed the fire. After some hours, even the wolf seems to have stopped being on edge.
>What do?
>>158039
The problem is that by coming as far north as the cave, it would take more than a week to head back south to the waterfall, go around to the western shore of the river, and head north again to reach the Purple Circle. Without access to boats, the group can't safely cross the river so need to go around it.
At any rate, Faun and Pips are clearly frightened by the ordeal involving the cave, and through it come to gain some respect for Ill and her bravery.
>>158072
Since when is III infertile? I thought they just assumed she was cursed/bad luck. nothing else.
Why did we try smoking it out? Did we do it during the day? Did anyone notice a big ass plume of smoke? Odds are everyone in this map >>156591 saw it if it was during the day. We are suppose to be hiding from a small raiding party.
I suppose have Uru start crafting again, for trade good sand cultural items. Make sure he dresses interestingly, but not threateningly and go to the nearest tribe to "trade" trinkets and stuff for food and their cultural items and folklore oral stories. We do this to get a test of what kind of tribe people they are like. Warn them of a small party of raiders you came across on you "travels".
If we need to test the waters further, then try and find a lone tribes person and non threateningly and peacefully approach them and see how well it goes.
I say make some torches by wrapping dry leaves and sticks with woven tree fibers for bounding rope.
>Uru say he'll check out the cave and Pip along with his wolf tag along but they walk farther head in case if attack.
>Faun should keep trying to sharpen stones and making a stone ax for tree cutting and as weapons.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BN-34JfUrHY
>Have Ileo make a quick fire the, have her go out to the shore where she accidently run in to another person who speak a similar language but not the same.
>>158080
Ill has been infertile since the beginning pretty much, in the original tribe she had a miscarriage even.
You can retcon the action of smoking the cave out if the concern is other people noticing, but the group has more than one action ago moved north to the cave to investigate it. If you're worried about the raiding party though, it's a fairly safe assumption that they wouldn't have seen it since they'd be to the south in dense forest, possibly still below the waterfall. Really the only risk of being seen is by the Orange and Purple tribes since they are on the banks of the lake and river respectively. In fact it's probably doubtful that the Purples saw the smoke.
If contact with another tribe is the idea though, then it might be a good idea to try to contact them via fire/smoke, since to otherwise reach them would take several weeks to go back around the waterfall. Much easier probably to get them to come to you, maybe the group could even get a boat through trade?
---
Thus it seems duties are in place, and the goal in mind is to make contact. Uru sets about crafting to have things to trade, as well as what the group already has for offer. Dressing interestingly won't be a problem since the group still has the clothes given to them by the nomads, as well as some good lengths of cloth as well.
Faun eventually manages to complete an axe by finding a wooden handle shaped well enough that she can pound the rock into it, and get it stuck in place. Some better fastening might do in the future, but for now the group has developed a crude axe.
>Looking forward to contact, anything specific the group is trying to accomplish besides just meeting another tribe, trading, and trying to converse?
Also any action to do with the cave? If the group is still of a mind to have smoked it out, then there is a cave available now, seemingly vacated without struggle.

Huh, I thought she was deemed cursed after she was borne around the time a miscarriage happened in the village. But I suppose the miscarriage fucked up her uterus somehow, and is now infertile cuz of it....?
>>158105
No she herself had a miscarriage, and didn't seem able to conceive after that. It was the miscarriage itself that rendered her cursed though, but after trying and failing again, her partner abandoned her.
No one in the group has medical or religious skills, so it's impossible to say, though the biggest indicator is she doesn't have periods anymore. It may be possible that given enough time and attempts she could conceive and maybe even not miscarry. Though to get to that point, would take a lot of effort by both parties involved. Be aware that Ill herself believes she is cursed after being treated that way by the tribe, so is reluctant to try bear children not only because of it being a sore memory for her.
>>158098
Have the whole group a explore the cave with Pip in front with the touch and Ileo close behind with hunting tools.
>I guess Pip would trust Ileo more if they get out of the cave completely unharmed but also maybe not.
Have Uru and Faun walk farther behind seacrhing the cave more thoroughly for anything couldn't see, like painting or bone.
>Collect the bones, pelts and whatever seem somewhat useful.
>If it's just empty should we move our home?
>What can we make/do with our current people?
>>158124
The group makes an effort to explore the cave after giving it enough time for the smoke to clear. Will provide a map in the following post.
As for what they find, mostly just a collection of animal bones strewn about, particularly towards the back of the cave. They do find however in one chamber, signs of former inhabitance. It would have been a long time ago by the condition of the things found (some withered fur bedrolls, signs of a fire, various broken pots and beads), however some sort of sharp knife is found upon closer search of the fire. The blade appears to be made of a black glossy stone and is very sharp, though chips easily. It is attached to a simple handle made of intertwined wood.
Apart from a chasm though, the cave is explored successfully, and the group has a small bonding experience over it, at their success. The choice is up to you though, if the group wants to use this cave as a home for now.
As for what the group members can do;
>Uru, craftsman and basic forager - Very skilled at woodworking and pottery making, as well as more detailed trinkets for cultural value. Can also find things good for eating by foraging, plants, fruits, nuts, etc...
>Ill, hunter and trapper - Very skilled at hunting for meat and furs/pelts. Also the most capable of making weapons.
>Faun, cook and textile specialist - A capable cook including with food additives, though her main skill is with making textiles and cloth/clothes, as well as things to fancify them as the nomads liked with things like dyes (which she can make). This skill also includes things like weaving, for baskets.
>Pips, survivalist - Pips and his wolf are somewhat capable of hunting, but his skills are much more suited for tracking and survival. In terms of what he can do that is marketable, he is able to identify some plants that are good for first aid. Also weirdly specific, but he knows how to safely get wax and honey from beehives.
Cont. with cave diagram.
>>158149
lleo should craft some weapons out of the bones if they are sturdy and malleable enough. Maybe attach it to a spear or carve rudimentary arrow heads.
The gang should stay in the cave like before have some rudimentary alarm system with Pip and his wolf, named Tintin.
>>158149
Here is a cross section diagram of the cave from the side. The Red X is the group at the main entrance to the cave and their path into it. The purple square represents where most of the bones from the former dweller were, and the pink crescent represents the sign of former human inhabitants. Beyond the pink crescent room going upwards is another entrance to the cave, much smaller and overgrown, at which is a pond. The pond actually drains into the cave, creating a small stream which runs down, through the pink crescent room, and further into a chasm which spans the length of the cave and takes a good running jump to cross. What is down there, remains unclear, though running water can be heard.
>>158179
Hide weapons catches and familiarize ourselves with the cave. we should turn it into our fortress where we can ambush predators and threads on our own turf.
>>158179
>I say let's move end, spend a few actions making it safe.
Have the most important stuff stored back where the purple circle is like the knife, hunting tools and our ax when not in use.
Because of the purple room being near the entrance we need to make a wooden door weaved out branches and sticks or something Uru could make.
Have Pip go hunting with his wolf but he should also collect what plants ha can to sharpen his skill, also let him take the knife to to take down prey easier.
Have Faun show Ileo how to make and use our crude ax so Ileo can go chop wood while Faun makes more axes.
>>158178
Some of the bones are too broken or old to make use of, but a good few are useable, particularly teeth. Illeo has a pretty good idea for a club with a bunch of bone shards sticking out, which she can work on overtime.
Overall though the group decides to move into the cave, and establish an alarm system mostly involving the wolf, during the nights.
>>158200
>>158209
The group decides to turn the cave into a fortress of sorts and base of operations. The first order of business is to make it more secure, so Uru constructs a fairly sturdy though not particularly complex barrier of wood to serve as a door/wall to the purple square room which for now will act as the group's safe room.
Pips is given the knife and sent with his wolf to go hunting. He's able to catch some small game, but with a larger focus, he returns with a small collection of plants he knows to be useful for medical purposes.
Faun and Illeo are on woodwork detail, with the former showing the latter how the axe was made. Illeo spends her duty time chopping branches while Faun works to make another axe.
---
About three days pass and the group is getting along nicely in their new home. A steadily increasing stockpile of branches is building, the purple room is quite secure, food is decreasing more than increasing but there is still plenty left, and a valuable supply of medicinal plants is being stocked.
Furthermore the cave is more thoroughly explored and cleared, netting more bones, and also an unnoticed bag with some simple jewelry is found, necklaces with beads and colored glass, stuff like that.
However Pips and his wolf have started to notice around the cave, the tracks and unseen presence of a large predator. Given it's movements, they believe it to be the former cave dweller, and on the fourth day actually sight it before fleeing to the cave. They are unsure of what it is, but you would know it to be a bear. If things continue, Pips believes the animal will try to approach the cave in the next few days.
>What do? As usual, actions and interactions.
>>158254
Let's have some meeting trying to connect more around the fire. Learning more about of the back story of Pip and Faun while discusing what to do about the bear.
Also is there a specific way you want us to tell you our actions?
>Have Faun and Ileo both work on making a primitve bow and arrow with stone tips.
Faun has the ability to make the fabric for the woven fibers that will be the sting while Ileo makes the arrows.
>Have Pip start digging a trench right before the fork to the purple room, making a mound on the inside side of the trench.
>Send out cut down tree with the Ax to make some pikes to stop big thing from getting over the trench wall.
After all the chores are done everyone should head out to hunt to bring as much game for stockpiling as possible, we don't want to leave the cave for a while.
>Leave Faun as a Gaurd.
>>158254
Bear trap duh!
Start connecting with nearby tribes.
>>158316
That sounds better actually Ileo and Faun should spend their time making better traps for the bear.
>>158299
No particular preference, I'm fine with you giving actions however you like.
That night the group gathers around the fire to discuss the bear, during which time the topic comes to Pips. Like Uru and Illeo he was a member of the original tribe, and was one of the persons tasked with domesticating and training the wolves which belonged to the tribe. When the attack came, he was only able to escape with his own personal wolf, Tintin. He does regret not being able to bring more though, or else the group could have had a number of wolves. He questions the feasibility of in the future, possibly baiting and trying to catch a female wolf so that with Tintin he can start getting pups.
Faun too becomes a topic of conversation, though the language barrier is an obvious issue. The most Uru can get is that she has a family back where the nomads call home, and hopes to see them again. Other than that, mostly it's just gossip between Illeo and Pips about Faun and her differences, as well as Illeo trying to pry info out of Uru about their love life.
Overall this works as a bonding experience though and group mood and productivity increase. Also, they feel more at ease in the cave as their new home, despite the presence of the bear. One topic of discussion that keeps coming up though, is curiosity and concern for what is down the chasm in the cave. The group has explored everything else except that, for it will take some creativity and some sort of means to safely scale down into the chasm to find what lies beneath.
>>158316
>>158322
Illeo and Faun work together with axes as best they can, and manage to fell an actual tree trunk. It takes a whole days work, and more than once Pips warns of the approach of the bear, but by days end everyone manages to get the log inside the cave and fasten a number of spikes and spears to it.
Night falls and in the early hours the wolf awakens the group, who spring to action to find the bear in the cave and trying to get to them but currently unable to pass the spike barricade. Illeo makes good use of her cross stakes and hurls a good few at the bear, hitting more than once. Uru is also able to keep the bear back further with a spear himself, and between the barricade is able to stab it a few times.
Eventually the bear retreats injured, but Illeo isn't done with it. Practically throwing Pips out after it with his wolf to track, they end up following the injured bear for about fifteen minutes before it tries to back into a small den made by a fallen tree. Between spears to keep it back and more to throw, eventually the bear is downed, and killed by Illeo using the stone knife.
>What do with the dead bear now? Any action for celebration? This will settle the issue with the bear, and move the focus onto the other tribes.
>>158355
Awesome, check if it's a mother bear in case it has children we can kiddnap.
>Other than that skin it, take out the bones and use the guts a bait for traps while drying the ediable meat.
>Could you tell us what all we have currently?
Now that the bear is taken care of let's get Faun a loom so she can start making tradable fabrics, ropes and bow strings.
Then have Pip and Tintin go out to collect honey and wax form behives.
>Side action he should gather some berths for dyes as instructed by Faun.
Then Uru and Ileo should make some torches and waved fibers to act as rope. Then go explore the chasm for the day.
>Bring a back pack along with the Ax in case we run into problems.
>>158400
It's a male bear unfortunately, probably living in the cave alone. The group though drags the bear back and celebrates before making use of its body. The fur is quite good quality, and the skull is fearsome. It could serve as a good effigy, or even a helmet/mask.
As for what the group has of note, not including essentials like clothes people are wearing,
>Enough meat and foodstuffs now to last a week
>A few pots of varying sizes, smaller ones filled with food additives and medicinal plants
>A growing pile of useable plant material for things like binding and weaving
>A good amount of wood, mostly branches but enough to make a decent wooden shack or wall, if that was what the group wanted
>A fair amount of stone, mostly smaller sharp ones for working and tools, nothing big though
>A good number of furs and pelts, enough to make at least another set of clothes for everyone in the group
>A supply of tools and weapons, mostly wooden, enough that everyone has at least a full length spear and a club, as well as several throwing spears. Also the stone knife
>A growing collection of trinkets and craftworks, mostly jewelry but also things like little containers for valuables and wooden carvings
>A small pile of usable bones
I might have missed one or two things but that's the general gist, and the purple room of the cave is getting quite full.
A loom is too complex for the group to make, but Faun is able to make a small rack and some simple wooden tools that help her with tempering and fashioning plant material. To make proper fabrics will either take specific kinds of animal fur (wool) or plant products (flax or hemp), which the group doesn't currently have access to. She can though make useful things like ropes and twine without a problem.
After a few days Pips is able to locate a beehive in a glade of the forest not too far away, and overtime will be able to regularly collect honey and wax, ideally storing them in pots.
As for the chasm, after the same few days when Pips finds the beehive, Faun is able to make a good amount of rope. With it Illeo and Uru carefully scale down the chasm till they reach the bottom, about thirty feet down. With some exploring, they follow the stream through a downwards chamber a ways which opens up into a huge underground lake it would seem. Given the direction and size, it's reasonable to assume that this is connected underground to the big lake topside, and this chamber itself is large enough that the back cannot be seen even with torches.
Cont.
>>158470
Another interesting find are two other chambers branching off of the downwards path made by the stream. One is not so large but the walls and ceiling glitter with lots of tiny colored stones in within the walls and ceiling. The other chamber gives them quite a fright as a large number of bats vacate. This chamber has many stalac and stalagmites, the floor is covered in guano, and they find some sort of small shrine of sorts, bearing a little stone figure, some bowls holding what you the player knows to be candles, and a strangely shaped length of metal that resembles a wishbone. All of these are laid on a carved stone table, upon which is draped a smooth and soft, patterned yet thin red blanket. Lastly there appears to be one other "room" along the wall of the big chamber of the underground lake but it is beyond reach or able to be walked to, a boat or learning to swim is required.
A pretty interesting find down in the chasm, what to do with the new things learned and found?
However the response to that, after another two days, while out foraging Pips notices something and hurriedly returns to the cave. He lets the others know that other humans have landed on the shore of the lake nearby. Five in total, three men and two women, having come over in four small boats, the last looking to be laden with some sort of goods beneath a plant covering.
>What do? If the people are to be approached, in what way, and what might be the goals of this interaction?
>>158497
Could you draw a map of the cave underground?
>Build a latter to more easily get up and down from the upper and lower caves.
We should make another door to cover the entrance to the lower cave much like the purple room.
With the new form Pip I think we should mount a party to go speak with the new people.
>Send Faun and Uru with a backpack of food and a few trinkets for trade. Uru should carry the knife with him and make sure the new people are hostile before trying to approach.
If we do speak I say try get their names and learn about their floating wood and such.
While Uru and Faun are gone have Ileo and Pip move all the food to the lower cave in the smaller cave.
>Ileo and Pip should do something to bond while Faun and Uru go off to trade and bond them selfs.
>>158470
I just remembered to add to this list,
>Several long lengths of colored woven fabric given by the nomads, enough to make another tent, or another set of clothes for the group.
>>158546
Sure thing, will follow with an expanded map.
In time a rope ladder can be made to ensure easy access to the lower cave, and in conjunction with that, a basic bridge to cross the chasm, so there's no more risk of falling down while crossing. When you say make a door to cover the entrance to the lower cave though I'm a little confused what you are referring to. Do you mean the chasm itself? Or the pink crescent room, or something else altogether?
As for the new arrivals, Uru and Faun go out together with some supplies. When they make it down to the shoreline, they come upon the strangers who had been making a fire. There is some initial uncertainty on both sides with weapons drawn, but tensions are able to be settled and Uru makes the approach in a greeting, non-threatening manner. There is a problem though, in that the language of these people is Forest Speak, which none in the group know a lick of. Despite this, you are able to establish an interaction and basic trade.
It seems these people have many goods in the way of fish and kelp, as well as a fashion of clothing that orients around dried, woven plant material. As a goodwill gesture, Uru manages to exchange some of the bear meat (which they take a strong liking to) for a good amount of fish. Uru also wants one of the boats but they don't seem content with what left he has to offer. That said, Uru and Faun depart, and the other tribals don't up and leave so it's safe to assume they'll be here for awhile longer.
All the while, Illeo and Pips move the groups food to the lower cave, the crescent room across the chasm (I think that's what you meant? Correct me if wrong.), during which time they talk about the strangers. Illeo suggests attacking them and thinks violence is the answer which Pips finds funny and can understand why that could be an option. In this exchange, Pips gains a little admiration for Illeo.
>>158621
Expanded view of the cave. Note that the lower portion of the cave, beneath the chasm, is not actually directly beneath the main portion of the cave. I'm just shit at drawing perspective, but in reality it's more to the "left" of the main cave. Such that, if you were to stand in the main entrance of the cave and walk straight down to the chasm, you would then turn left and continue straight downwards to the lower portion of the cave beneath the chasm.
The room with the orange lines is the bat room with the shrine, the triangle room is the glittering cave.
>>158621
When everyone one is back had a quick meal and rest from the long walk.
>Uru and Faun come back to drop off all the food and good they got along with telling Ileo and Pip about the new arrivals.
Does anyone in our group know Forrest speak?
After everyone is back together we need to talk about asking the new people of they would like to join our new tribe.
>We have a home already set, they can have a underground lake for fishing or they can live along side us. but first thing first, everyone in our own clan need to able to speak with everyone else.
>Actions:Build some touches and fire in to lower cave to inspect, clean and move more into the lower cave while really trying to learn to speak with everyone.
>>158179
Where the arrow is in this picture is where we should put a door.
>>158675
Sounds good to me
>>158675
Unfortunately no, no one in the group knows Forest Speak. There were a couple in the original tribe who did, but none of you currently.
The group converses among themselves though, about the idea of bringing the strangers into the tribe. Uru is open to the idea, Faun goes along with what he does, Pips understands the idea but is kind of on the fence, while Illeomi as expected wants to attack them. Whatever the case though, a good point is made about the feasibility of adding more people to the group now with the cave as a home.
One way or the other though, there are duties to take care of. Most of the group busies themselves with making a wall at the main entrance to the cave (it is simply too big of an opening to make a simple door), while Illeo makes the effort of storing more supplies in the lower half of the cave and clearing it out.
Torches are also set up in places so it's not as pitch black or spooky.
>What do for the coming days, largely in relation to the strangers? Any more trading with them until they probably return from where they came?
>>158745
See if they can show us how to make a boat or help teach us fishing in exchange for the necklaces and such we found in the cave
>>156461
Were the previous threads archived somewhere?
>>158809
I don't think so? I went to the /qst/ archive and couldn't find them.
>>158777
The group seeks to trade with the other tribals again, but a possibility comes up that is a little strange to you.
Basically from what you can judge, they want to take Pips with them, demonstrated in a way where one of the women leads him to a boat and sits him down in it as the rest of them pack up to leave. They also attempt to demonstrate where they are from by your guess, by pointing out the rising smoke from far across the lake. Based on this, you believe them to be the Orange Triangle tribe. Whether or not you allow Pips to go with them is your choice, but Pips could go either way, as long as Tintin is taken care of.
Also something of value that in observing the other tribals, you see at least one way they fish. It involves spears but they are much more slender, and forked at the end. Uru believes he can duplicate that kind of spear end, if Illeo can make the narrow haft.
>>158837
Whoa, No, don't let Pip go with the people.
>Instead try to ask for a member of their tribe to teach us how to speak their language so we can more clearly trade and communicate.
>>158837
Nooooo not Pip, not until we can clearly communicate with them. We are too few to take such a hit
>>158862
>>158867
Quick post but it's kind of important;
>Before they go, they make one final offer of one of their boats, in exchange for Pips.
Whatever the case also give actions for the coming week, since the other tribals will be departing. Maybe they'll return but they seem intent not to stick around now that they're out of supplies.
>>158877
Have they made it clear that he would come back because if he isn't coming back I would rather have the extra hands than a boat.
Regardless we should work more on reinforcing and setting the wall to our entrance and making the cave comfy for us. How many people could conceivably live in the cave?
>>158877
No don't let Pip go but still try to keep one of them to teach you Forrest speak.
>What ever happens send Uru and Pip out on a hunting trip and try to get them to become closer.
>Have Ileo study making arrows by making harden wooden shafts for now.
>>158877
Don't let Pip go
let them leave and spend some time to make fishing spears, and practice with them
>>158916
They can't really make anything clear due to the language barrier, but Pips is confident that if things turn sour he can always just escape.
Either way though it seems the consensus is not to let him go, and your efforts to get one of them to stay similarly don't work. It seems to understand them, will be limited to these trading interactions. Ideally next time if they show up again, you'll have enough goods that you can just spend the entire time with them to start learning the language. Until then, the other tribals depart.
In the meantime, over the next week duties are carried out. Uru and Pips head out to forage, hunt, and collect honey. They're friendly by now, and are fast becoming buds. Pips expresses concern though about the size of the group, and how despite their pretty good new home, if any group of size decides to attack then it won't go well for you.
Illeo and Faun remain at the cave, and together reinforce the barricade at the entrance, as well as work together to make fishing spears, and taking time to practice together. The amount of time they are spending together on a semi regular basis, Faun is starting to get a basic understanding of Plains Speak while Illeo is approaching the same level of understanding of Eastern Speak as Uru has.
---
A week passes, and the other tribals are seen to land again, this time with more goods including what you the players know to be chickens in cages.
Any particular actions, besides the obvious of trying to get to know them better and learn their language?
>>158951
let Pip go with them if one of them stay with our group
>>158966
That's a pretty fair trade they'd be willing to make. Any preference from among them? Age, gender, etc...?

> meat and pelts for the 6 chickens 4 girls and 2 males.
>Offer some trinkets for a boat and if that doesn't work offer our crude Stone axe for it.
>Also try you best to rememeber any tools you see them using.
Have Ileo start sharpening rock and looking for flint for better spear and arrow heads for hunting.
While Pip should should scout the land seeing what animals we have in the area and other things.
>>158966
Disagree I don't think we should send anyone

>>158989
>Disagree I don't think we should send anyone
If no tiebreaker vote, I'll d100 you for it
high is good
>>158966
>>158989
Need a tiebreaker if Pips is going with them in exchange.
In the meantime, you are able to trade for all the chickens they have, which is a male and two females. They aren't that interested in parting with a boat for trinkets or an axe, but the stone knife they're willing to do it for, or the lengths of colored cloth (though Faun is attached to them).
Something else they are seen to use are nets, which Faun believes with difficulty she can try to imitate with plant fiber. Illeo meanwhile sets about making weapons, particularly sharpened rock ends for things like spears and though not arrows, darts which are along the process to bows.
During the few days the other tribals remain to trade and Uru is trying to pick up their language, Pips takes the chance to explore some more. What he vaguely makes out to frequent the area with his tracking skills,
>Lots of small game in the woods, lots of tree and ground dwellers
>Some larger game in the woods, likely a boar, and in the hills region, likely deer
>Farther out towards the foothills, he makes out some wolf tracks which he is excited about
>>159020
Ask if will take our medicine plants that Pip found?
>If so get any advanced marital that have like metal, netting or fishing poles.
>For the bout ask if they will take jewelry and wood carvings, but if not give them the knife.
Drag the bout back and put it in the underground cave and explore the cave on the far side.
I'm more open to sending pip for one of them actually. But ask them we'll send him but we want a few weeks before he goes.
>Ask for one of theirs inreture and some other tributes.
>>158985
So now I think this should happen after 5 weeks.
>Compromise comrade?
>>159122
sure, whatever gets this rolling
>>159060
For a trade of the medicinal plants, they accept and give you a few nets and even instruct you in their use. As well, Faun is able to better look at their construction and is confident she can make versions just as good herself.
For the boat though they're pretty adamant, which seems fair to you, looking how the boats appear to be made. You make the trade of the stone knife for one of their boats. As well, despite the language barrier, you indicate that you are willing to make the person exchange after a passage of time.
Until then, the group all have to work together in order to get the boat back to the cave and lower it down the chasm, but carefully it is done. Getting it to the lakeside, Illeo and Pips very carefully paddle with their hands to reach over to the last chamber. As they near it, the boat smashes up against a previously unseen ledge just barely under the water. The boat itself is not damaged but Pips falls overboard, fortunately though onto the ledge. Standing up on it, he notices it reaches about three feet from the edge of the cave, and with Illeo pull the boat onto it.
With torches they proceed into the chamber to find that it is not particularly high but does extend back a ways, eventually opening up to a room. Therein looks to be some sort of funeral altar with a stone trough and the remains of a body within. In the container with the body are the remains of clothes, an intricate stone burial mask inlaid with colored gemstones (like the cave chamber you found the past week), and old wooden shield. The wood itself is mostly rotten, but the small stone fittings are in good condition, and Illeo believes Uru would be able to duplicate such a shield with some study. Also a benefit to the chamber noticed after the fact, are many large mushrooms growing throughout, probably due to the chamber being right at the waters' edge. After getting a better look, Pips confirms that these mushrooms are edible. By this amount, it's not enough to comprise the groups diet, but if harvested at a renewable rate, they would make a great supplement to meals.
Will follow with the passage of time till the exchange.
>>159314
About a month passes with everyone performing their basic duties. During this time though the group bond deteriorates a little, as everyone is a little glum with the idea of Pips leaving.
The time comes, and the day of the exchange passes. Pips goes with the tribals while one of their own remains with you, a woman of about Illeo's age whom had been exchanging language the fastest.
So the group dynamic has changed, and the question is, should Pips still be given orders during his time with the other tribe or allowed to think and act for himself? Also the tribal woman exchanged will need a name.
>What do, moving on from here. You are in possession of a working boat and someone who knows how to use it as well as fish, and a compliment of fishing gear. You are minus one member of the group though, in Pips.
>>159370
Tell Pip to use his best judgement, if he fears foul play, escape.

>>159314
Can you update the map again with our current supplies we have and who and what can this new person do?
>she should teach swim and fish using the underground lake for practice.
>Have Faun start planting more mushrooms around the cave where they will grow. After that she should make some baskets for more food storage.
>Send Ileo out to find some bores to bring back for food but if she can't fine one bring back small game and plants.
>Then Uru should work on bone knifes and better weapons/hunting tools while trying to learn about the new forest person and forest speak.
We should still control Pip I think but it's mostly so he doesn't get kiddnaped or raped or something.
>>159381
As expected, Pips will be wary of anything going on, try to learn from and of them, and be ready to escape if he needs to.
As for the main group, the three of you come up with a plan to treat Coda like royalty, make her not regret her time here. Anything in particular to accomplish this, or just a general gist of privilege?
>>159390
I can update the map but how would you like it, the region or the cave?
Current supplies are not much different,
>You don't have the medicinal plants anymore, or the stone knife
>You do have a boat, and a number of fishing supplies
>You also have three chickens
Coda herself is a pretty competent fisher, particularly with a net and bait. In the downtime she teaches the group how to swim, and better operate a boat, and even helps them to make paddles so they don't have to use their hands for it.
For the group, Faun makes an effort to spread the mushrooms around, which very quickly take well to the chamber the bats come and go from. Illeo meanwhile is not as good at tracking as Pips, though she does manage to find at least one boar by happenstance. She doesn't feel as though she can successfully trap it though, so in a snap decision decides to try and hunt it then and there. She does manage to down the animal, but it injures her with a tusked charge before death. She remains bedridden for a few days, but everyone generally agrees that the meat is worth it. Uru meanwhile tries to spend every waking moment he can with Coda to learn her language, during which time he busies himself with making bone weapons.
As for Pips, a small glimpse but he too is treated quite well by the other tribe. How long should this arrangement last for though?
>>159447
Both cave a region would be nice.
>Send out Uru and Coda our fishing on the real river with out the bout.
I guess try to make a event where coda and Uru become closer.
Have Faun take care of Ileo for a while but if Ileo can stand have her help making a small wooden building with a small gated area for the chickens to start breeding.
>Faun should have some bad feelings about Uru and Coda being alone together and talks to Ileo about it.
I would say about 3 months so we have 6 turns of coda.
>Have Pip look around their town looking for anything we don't have like sheep, loom or crops of any kind.
>>159447
A full moon cycle is enough to get a solid taste without straining anything.
I would say just treat her well and keep her warm and fed while teaching her what we know.
Take good care of Illeo while she rests.
>>159472
i'll second thiscause too tired to think
>>159472
I'll say where to put the chicken coop when you post the map OP
>>159472
Very well, will follow with maps. The cave though, really the only thing that needs an update is the mushroom chamber.
---
Uru decides to figure out fishing without use of the boat, which Coda shows by heading down to the actual river. Together they fish between using the nets and spears, to a fair degree of success. At one point while looking for firewood, the duo accidentally cross paths with a stag. Injury is narrowly avoided though when Uru tackles Coda out of the way of a charge, and helps her up a tree. The experience creates a bond between the two, which further increases overtime as they continue fishing together.
Faun meanwhile takes to nursing Illeo, the close time spent during which their language grasp is extended. Faun though expresses doubts about Uru and Coda together, which makes Illeo feel guilty for being the reason Faun isn't with her husband. Eventually Illeo is walking again and together they make a chicken pen, a good means for egg laying and collection.
In the passage of a month, overall group bond weakens due to individual separations.
>>159486
I think a good middle ground between the two times would be two months, fair?
During this time Coda will be treated well along with being taught what the group knows if she cares to learn. Understanding her language is fairly straightforward though and progressing with time.
Something of note happens though by the fourth week, which is that on one of their fishing trips, Uru and Coda notice in the woods a fire. Upon closer inspection they notice an elderly man camping alone. They do not approach him though for now.
Cont. with maps, and Pips discoveries.
>>159547
Updated map of the cave, showing the large barricade at the cave entrance, and the mushroom chamber.
>>159593
A larger map of the lake region, showing the hills terrain where the group's cave is, and more of the other side of the lake. Which reminds me, I think I said earlier that Coda and the tribe Pips went with were the purple, but they're actually the orange triangle. Also the extent of the island out in the lake is shown.
>>159598
While on the other side of the lake, Pips learns of the orange tribe. In size they are about 30 people total, including children and elderly. They seem pretty peaceful and don't appear to have much in the way of weapons or training. Instead they spend most of their time fishing, harvesting waterborne plants and kelp, and engaging in tribal/cultural activities together. In particular they have a collection of some instruments that were clearly not made by them, possibly traded, and nightly gatherings involve song and dance. Also they engage often in a sport based around carrying a stone about a cleared area while trying to avoid being tripped by opponents. Their village construction is very basic, a large number of shacks made mostly of branches and dried plant material. Their biggest "building" is actually built around a large tree, using it for central support from which to hang roofing. Of note that the tribe doesn't seem to have any animals other than chickens, nothing advanced in the way of tools, and no proper crops in the way of food.
Pips is welcomed though and treated well, shown various skills and involved with tribal activities. He even is approached by some girls, probably believing him to be a hardy huntsman given his rough and tumble attitude, appearance and clothing. He isn't sure if he should reciprocate any of these advances though.
Of particular note, he also occasionally meets the probable chieftain, a man in his late twenties most likely, quite physically capable. He seems unique among the tribe in this regard, and Pips is able to make out some semblance of tradition where the tribe is led by a competent warrior who negates the need for the rest of the tribe to be physical or strong fighters. Perhaps the tribe's dealings are limited to other small tribes, and conflict between them is symbolic?
>What do for the coming month, for both Pips and the main group?
>>159598
I would say put the coop in the lower cave in the mushroom room so no one will be able to find our livestock.
>Uru should walk back to the cave with Coda bring the big haul of fish, resting for a while to talk to Faun and check on Ileo.
>While everyone is together they should have a discussion about Coda and her tribe to gain information about them.
I'm not sure what Faun and Ileo should do really?
>Other anons?
>>159643
In the case of Pip, consider these girls, which ones have the most useful skills, social standing but aren't a cunt. Further more continue learning from them, focusing on different skills from what ever mate he chooses.
As for everyone else, have a discussion with coda. Afterwards Uru should work on more axes along with faun while Ileo and coda should fish.
Any suggestions?
>>159659
I think Pip should find a wife to bring back to the tribe but I wonder if OP could give us a list of girls to pick from?
>Have Pip go around town trying to learn as many skills as can and if these people have writing he should learn it.
And back at the main cave tribe Uru and Coda should back and start making some fish and mushroom stew in the communal pot!
>Have a gathering to remember our friend Pip and welcome our new friend Coda.
After Uru and Ileo should both work on making better stone tools where she tell Uru about how Faun feels.
While Faun should make some more feahong spear or netting with the help of Coda.
>Somethng could happen!
>>159659
>>159704
For Pips the ones who approached him are
>???, about his age, tends to the chickens, decent standing in the tribe
>???, about Illeo's age, a diver for seaweed and other underwater goods, low standing in the tribe and witnessed to get in fights
>???, about twice Pip's age, an older woman who has helped him out the most including with the language and has skills in medicine and drug use pertaining to religious purposes, high standing in the tribe
For the main group, a discussion with Coda is still basically impossible, only Uru can barely converse with her. It's getting there but will take more time.
>>159704
This tribe doesn't have writing, neither does yours unfortunately. Only Faun had something of a simple mixed writing system of the nomads, though she's really only familiar with the numbers system. She does have the experience to be able to develop writing though, overtime.
For duties, initially Uru and Illeo work on tools together while Faun and Coda work on fishing equipment. Illeo tells Uru of Faun's concerns however, so they decide to switch it up. Uru and Faun return to work together on tools and fishing equipment, while Illeo and Coda hunt and fish.
>How should the group act towards one another, and should they do anything about that older man still camping in the woods nearby?
This, along with Pips' choice of a girl, will warrant the next post.
>>159767
In pips case, I would assume that he would go for someone similar to him so;
>???, about his age, tends to the chickens, decent standing in the tribe
In the case as to how the main group should act towards one another they should attempt to bond, be it as mates or as friends, and they should investigate the older man, see if we can't talk with him.
>>159767
Have Ileo approach the old man with some fish and mushroom as gift.
>Depending on who he his I might want him to move in.
But Pip, for the most logical choice is the older woman but the non creepy one is the chicken girl because she can come back and learn more.
>And with the old man we might be able to get another marriage depending on how that goes.
>>159785
>>159794
Well there's an obvious preference for Pips in the girl his age, but he's willing to take one for the team and go for whichever the group needs the most. Worth a possible reconsideration?
In the meantime though he becomes closer overtime with the girl his age, and learns from her how to raise chickens fairly well. He isn't able to seal the deal for a relationship within a month though, and eventually is taken back for the exchange. From his time though he gained info about the tribe, got a passing understanding of their language, and picked up some useful skills. The same is true in reverse with Coda, who leaves happy after getting to learn about the group, their language, and skills.
Meanwhile with the main group, Illeo decides to approach the older man, and quickly realizes it's Whatshisface (name needed), the original tribe's shaman! She's very surprised he survived and escaped the attack, but here he is. He didn't know about the group and was just headed north after some others of the tribe who survived did the same. Well it's unexpected, but a great opportunity, should he be invited to the group?
>What do for the coming week besides the obvious, of figuring out what Pips learned? Also when suggesting how the group acts towards one another, a little more clarity would be welcome. The orders for duties and chores to the group are always rather specific, while the interactions are a little vague. Not looking for a page's worth of detail, but a little more than "attempt to bond" would be helpful. Otherwise I'll end up just defaulting to a sort of "auto-pilot" mode for the group which will increase bonds, but won't ever accomplish specific things like developing a culture or creating families.
>>159837
Of course he should be invited!
Uru, Ileo, faun and pips shall continue to create tools, fabrics and trade-goods. However Uru and faun shall stop working for one day and enjoy each others company, generally just being lovey-dovey in private, maybe at the underground or surface lake?
Everyone else just focus on learning the other tribes language from pip. Maybe giving him advice on how to woo him self a girl.
>>159837
Awesome everything went pretty well for what I think. But Pip should marry the girl his age but tell the older woman he still want to be her apprentice. I'm not sure what her name should be..
Along with Fuck yeah invite Rick back to camp! He the smartest guy anyone knows. (If Rick isn't okay make it Boon.)
>He knows how to ferment and produce alcohol and Uru will be stoked to have his shman back.
I feel like after spending all of his time with Coda or Ileo the should be a event where Uru and Faun have a connection on night swimming in the under ground lake.
>Can Faun get pregnant and still do stuff around the cave?
Ileo and Coda spend their time trying to make other bout but this time in the pink crescent room so we have knowledge to make more. Also I wanted know if Ileo can't have kids would she be lesbian?
>>159837
Yes invite him, also let Pip go for the girl his age
>>159924
I disagree with the logic behind it (The reason Ileo is known to be "infertile" is because she miscarried her husbands child, implying she is straight) but see no reason it can't occur if OP allows it. Let the shipping begin!
>>159936
Eh yeah, OP probably won't let that slide but he just might and that's all we can hope for.
>Could we have the current feelings of everyone?
>>159888
>>159905
Rick is invited back to the cave and welcomed, notably he is quite relieved, having had to get by on his own for awhile. He's also happy for Uru to have gotten married and offers to officiate the marriage in the ways of the old tribe.
He only vaguely sort of understands how to make alcohol but would need fruit to do it. His main skills though are healing and medical abilities, as well as religious and cultural understanding. Also as the shaman he's got plenty of tales to tell.
The group in the meantime busy themselves with the usual duties, though Uru looking to make things up with Faun makes an effort to start spending more time with her, and among other forms of connection, fostering their love life. Rather than one entire day devoted to this though, they make an effort to spend evenings together. After a few nights they've rekindled the bond between them, and while tending to the mushrooms decide to go for a swim in the underground lake together, leaving the torch behind. In the pitch black, they feel isolated, removed from the world and yet have each other to hold onto and find stability. In their isolation in the waters of the darkness, they come together and unite as one being of love against the void.
>>159924
>>159936
Illeo is straight, but with enough impetus she could come to experience that kind of closeness with another woman. Maybe not a proper relationship, but an intimate one nonetheless. In secret though, she would fear how the rest of the group would view it.
All that said though, there's a distinct problem which is that, by this point Coda has already gone back to her tribe. I think I said above, so apologies if it wasn't clear, but after the two month period, the exchange was made again and with Pips return came Coda's departure. That's not to say she's gone forever but she's currently not with the group.
>What do for the coming week, besides the obvious of learning more Forest Speak from Pips?
>>159975
Will follow with that.
>>159975
>Urudike - Feeling pretty great, things are going the group's way
>Faun - Feeling alright, she's getting closer to the group and understanding them, as well as making an effort with Uru for a better marriage
>Illeomi - Feeling annoyed, she doesn't like the ongoing situation with the other tribe
>Pips - Feeling uneasy, he trusts Ill's feelings but has his own conflicting feelings including budding love
>Rick - Feeling amazing, he's not having to sleep in the woods anymore and not get mauled by wolves
>>159989
Illeo should take the axe and cut down more trees, Pip should gather fruit and honey to help rick to make medicinal or alcoholic products. While Uru and faun should focus on producing more pots, axes and other such tools/stuff.
Everyone should listen to ricks shaman stories and Uru and Fauns marriage should be officiated in the old tribes ways.
>>159989
Oh Damn, well that is cool all the same.
Send out Ileo, Rick and Pip with his wolf to go hunting and foraging.
>Rick should spend his time picking plants and finding rocks for mortar and pestle.
Do what this anon says after the gathering with Pip and Rick. >>160027
>While Ileo and Pip look around for a female wolf to start breeding with.
Have Pip ask Ileo for dating advice on how to court the chicken girl back the Orange circle camp. Ileo has the first thought of being with a girl but she pushes it out.
While everyone is Uru and Faun should wave some baskets, make pottery and tend to the chickens and mushrooms.
>Uru and Faun should spend this day trying to learn more about each other.
>>160027
>>160046
Rick does his usual shaman duties and also officiates Uru and Faun's marriage. It is a nice little symbolic ceremony, which Faun is particularly happy with, and everyone has a nice time and enjoys themselves in celebration. It also reminds everyone of what is important, of the tribe, of unity, and of family.
Group bond increases by a good amount, as does productivity. Also Uru and Faun's bond is at an all-time high. If working together they are able to perform twice as well. The also take their time working together, and together in the evenings, to get to know each other better. They tell each other of their lives with their former tribes, and their families. Coming out of these discussions, Uru is surprised to realize how far they've come with being able to communicate.
In the meantime everyone tends to their duties, the first few days Illeo chopping wood, Pips gathering honey and wax, Rick gathering medical supplies, and Uru and Faun making common livingware in pottery, baskets and tools.
Of note to the alcohol idea, Rick can only do it with fruit, and Pips isn't able to find fruit in the areas he's explored as of yet.
>>160046
Along with their other duties, Illeo and Pips start to formulate a plan to catch a female wolf for Tintin. During this time Pips asks Illeo for advice, to which she refers to Uru and Faun's relationship; already it sounds like the women are interested in Pips because he's something totally different from the forest tribes, so try to play up those differences while still being friendly and approachable. Ideally as well, Coda will tell the tribe about how well she was treated and they will think living with the group is great.
Cont.
>>160093
This time two weeks actually pass, until the other tribe returns. There are however, more of them this time, with less goods. How should they be approached?
>>160097
Same as before, if they still have goods they must still want to trade.
>>160093
>>160097
So could you update on what everyone can do in our tribe now? Along with chicken girl who's name I think should be Moah or just Mo.
Have Rick show Faun how to make candles to light up the cave easier and a steadier light source. After she know how to do it have her start making some.
After that have Pip help move Rick in to the altar room in the lower cave where we keep the bare skull and our unused bones.
Lastly get Uru and Ileo go to the people in the beach, approaching with honey, meat, pelts and medicine. Also bring Pip so he can tell them about the chicken girl.
>What do they have and what are they willing to trade.
And when the day is done have a nice dinner of boar meat and mushroom stew while while listening to Rick stories as a shaman.
>>160144
>>160149
Sure, the additions to the list before >>158149 would be
>Rick, shaman - Skilled in the way of medicine and healing, and knowing things from oral history.
>Mo, tender - Capable of caring for and fostering small pen animals.
With wax provided, Rick shows Faun how to make candles, which will come in handy in the cave. Rick is also suggested to move to the old altar below but doesn't like having to climb up and down the ladder in the chasm at his age. Instead he makes the pink crescent room a shrine of sorts, as well as his place of living.
Uru and Illeo go down to the beach to meet the tribals to trade. When you arrive though, they are quite forward and approach you. Although they maintain a friendly vibe, they physically take your goods while giving nothing in return. Between Uru and Pips you try to communicate with them, and learn that they are taking the goods as "tribute" and that for it their tribe will "protect" yours. Pips even asks about Mo, but they respond similarly, and invite him back to their village if he wants to see her again.
That night Illeo notices them reveling with the goods they took from you, before leaving the next day. Not until after they approached as far as to the entrance of your cave and said something along the lines of being back again and wanting the same thing. You assume that to mean they will return in a week, looking for more protection tribute.
>What do, both group action and interaction as usual?
>>160273
Strange that they would do such a thing.
>Next time tell them they don't need protection, from anyone or anything. The Orange tribe is our friends right?
>After that send Uru and Pip to go inspect the purple circle tribe farther down the river in case we need some help.
As well as send Pip looking for female wolf later in the day for TinTin
Rick should start making poison and dyes for Faun and Ileos hunting spears as well carving and making a ritual robes out of the bare pelt and skull.
Faun and Illeo with the new threat of the new clan asking for tribute. Ileo secretly asked Faun to start making better weapons in case we need them.
>Offer the same deal as last time, if Pip is going to go we need Coda to come back and tell me if you don't like these long posts.
>>160273
Okay then, we are going to war!
First off, everyone is to begin fortifying the cave, the surrounding area and the beach. They are to dig pit traps, create snares and other such obstacles to an attacking force. They are also to obscure the entrance to our cave.
Then they shall produce weapons, shields and such as many as we can. After this we will cut down as many trees as we can for a palisade around our cave with a series of platforms to defend from.
Lastly, rick mentioned he headed north because multiple survivors of our tribe headed north. I believe our best hope to not die would be to find these people and unify into a larger tribe.
Also how long until the nomad tribe returns to this area? Could we ask for their, or another tribes, help?
>>160331
The purple tribe is at the fork in the river south west of the cave.
>They are smaller but if they attack while we flank we could take the town with out having to lose a single man.
>Or try to not to go to war and ask them to stop and we will be happy to trade but you won't extort our people.
>>160323
Well it's the orange tribe which is exacting the protection tribute from you. Illeo perhaps correctly guesses that treating Coda so well led to her telling her tribe of all your goods and supplies, leading to the current predicament.
>>160323
>>160331
Getting conflicting actions here though. If the group is going to split up to perform duties still, they won't be able to properly prepare for combat.
>>160331
Rick mentioned multiple survivors also heading north but he means like, more than one. To his knowledge it was maybe five, including Uru, Illeo and Pips. The other few survivors fled in different directions.
As for the nomads, Faun says it will be many months before they possibly return, and even then they'll return to the valley not this far to the north in the forest region.
>>160352
Compromising is efficiency, thus i suggest the following alternative plan.
1) Pip gets a female wolf for TinTin.
2) Rick works to make medicine and such.
3) Faun, Ileos and Uru should focus on creating axes, cutting down trees and improving the cave, maybe working on more permanent lighting by creating fire pits and by carving "beds" into the stone? Generally just making the place more secure and more comfortable, maybe we could take the boat over to their village and do some trading?
Do you find this acceptable, other player(s)?
>>160383
I think we should send Uru and Illeo down to the purple tribe to speak and trade with them.
>Bring Honey, candles and some pelts.
But other then that yeah agree. Faun and Rick should work together talking about Uru in the past telling emarssing stories.
>>160407
Okay so we are agreed;
1) Pip works on getting a female wolf, so as to have a breeding pair.
2)Rick does medicine.
3) Uru, Faun and Illeo go trade and talk with the tribe, hopefully explaining we don't want protection.
The triangle is big one who stole stuff from us and I was talking about the circle, seeing they will join/work with us in a agreement among equals.
This post has the map.>>157114
Alright, let me see if I can work out a balance on what happens next.
>>160451
We can stop off at the circle village, as they are on the way there, and talk with them but chances are we don't share a language.
So over the coming days with Illeo and Rick's help, Pips is able to bait and catch a female wolf while chasing the others away. After sedating her and taking her back to the cave, a temporary cage is constructed to hold her until Pips gets a chance to start trying to domesticate her as well as pair Tintin with her.
Rick all the while works on various medical remedies and concoctions which will come in handy if conflict should come to pass. As well he's able to whip up a little poison for whatever purpose.
Finally, Uru, Faun and Illeo collect a number of goods for trading and leave with the boat to try and make contact with the purple tribe. It takes about three days to reach that point on the river, and a lot of difficulty to cross it, to the point where the three actually end up downstream and have to travel along the fork.
They make contact as before, carefully and non-threateningly. The purple tribe appears to be much smaller than the triangles and a much different culture too. A few of them know Forest Speak however, so you are roughly able to converse with Uru taking charge (though Pips would have been much better). You're able to trade with them, a very interesting substance that you the player would know as bread and wheat as well as milk of goats that they have with them.
You come to try and discuss with them the matter of assistance from the orange tribe. They tell you they are aware of the orange tribe and they too pay them tribute in order to trade, but from what you can understand they are happy with this arrangement and even if they weren't, they aren't interested in actually fighting the oranges and claim to be too few in number.
Cont. with the rest of the week.
>>160527
By the time the trio departs from the purple tribe to return home, in order to make preparations to then meet the orange tribe, it takes another three days.
Upon returning to the cave they find signs of struggle and damage to the entrance wall. Making their way inside, they find Pips injured and being taken care of by Rick, who lets you know that the oranges came again on the day of the new week same as last, and met with Pips who in your guys' absence decided to try to appease the oranges and give more tribute. They also tried to kidnap him as well, but he resisted and fled to the cave. The oranges pursued and tried to break in, but were repelled by Pips and Rick, though before they left with some harsh words they had stabbed Pips pretty nasty with a fishing spear. This all happened the day before this.
>What do for the coming week? Group action and interaction.
>>160323
Also I don't know if I mentioned before but I'm totally ok and welcome long posts. The more detail given to suggestions and actions, the more I can write and respond to.
>>160549
I have a bad feeling about this now, we can't fight now but everyone need to stay in the cave till we clear this up.
>The purple people being fine shows the Are willing to be reasoned with.
Faun and Illeo will Chop down some trees and have Uru make a heavy wooden gate at the cave entrance, but we're gonna need to throw up some Palisades along the perimeter in front of our cave entrance. Defense need to be our top priority for awhile.
>All while Rick and Pip work as hard as possible to tame and start breeding the young wolf pair.
>>160566
I totally and 100% agree we need to get them back but we need to wait for the moment where we could do it easily.
>>160609
We can do it easily! They see us as weak!
If we talk with the purple tribe and point out how they abuse us, appeal to their sense of good and the whole "milk of human kindness" concept they will help, even if it is only one or two that is a major improvement.
Further more, we don't need to get back at them. We just need to discourage their horrid attitude by making it impossible to profit from this act. That is why my plan has so many traps; we lack the man power to make such a plan work otherwise.
It is also why it talks of advancing our tech, to grant a greater advantage. We have a boat, so if we can make bows and fire arrows then we can deny them tribute from either tribe by waiting down river with our bows and screwing with their boats.
>>160636
Hmmm, that doesn't sound like a very bad idea really, I agree we should put work in making traps and doing some guerilla warfare in this bitch. But we still need the Heavy gate so no one can come in if we don't want them in.
>But first, a explanation for trying to take Pip
>Faun and Rick need to stay to protect the cave but Rick should make something that can be used quickly.
>But Uru, Illeo and Pip with TinTin, along with the stealth, traps and a home field advantage we should be able to hold our own against a bout load.
>>160684
I need my sleep, don't screw this up. Build defences, advance towards bows, create more stone tools and try to tame the female wolf.
>>160772
Alright I won't let you down friend, I'll do my best for you!
Alright, working out a response now.
On a first order of business, immediately Uru, Faun, and Illeo set about fortifying the cave and surrounding area. After several days they are able to make the barricade to the entrance very stable as well as put some platforms by the top on the inside. Over the next few days, they also work to booby trap the surrounding area, creating a number of spiked pit traps, and simple spiked barricades to force attackers to come from certain directions as they near the cave entrance. On the final day, they set about making weapons and better fashioning their own. Of particular note, Illeo finally finishes that bone shard club she'd been working on.
Meanwhile Pips is healed and feeling better by the third day, and sets to work on domesticating the female wolf. She's an adult though, so it will be hard to do. You can't really expect results by the time the orange tribals come back, but it's a good start. Rick all the while takes the time to work with the poison, and apply it to some of the traps, as well as a certain few of the group's weapons.
The first day of the new week rolls over, thus marking six months since the original tribe was massacred, and your group formed.
>In the early morning, Pips while scouting makes note of the orange tribals landing again. There are six of them as before, four men and two women. They look to be getting ready and will probably wait awhile as they assume you will be going to meet them to deliver tribute.
What do?
>>160860
Send Uru and Illeo out to meet them and ask why they tried to attack and kiddnap Pip and tell them you don't want to pay tribute but are willing to make alliance and trade agreement.
>Stay at safe distance and stay on guard but bring a basket of fish, some mushrooms and honey along with some weapons but keep them hidden.
Have Faun and Rick stay back studying making a strong but flexible string while Rick makes 3 wooden parts of the bow but no arrows. (I don't know the name of the part of the bow.)
Keep Pip in the cave to tend to the female wolf and the chickens while training with a spear in his free time.
Because these actions are happening real-time, things like tribal developments can't really be pursued.
>>160930
Uru and Illeo seek to go down to the shore and meet the oranges. Uru is of a mind to approach them peaceably with weapons drawn, but Illeo more or less says "Fuck that." and loads up with weapons.
When they make it down to the shore, the orange tribals are waiting, and the attention turns to you. They demand their tribute as usual, which Uru places on the ground between you and them. He also asks them why they did what they did to Pips. The language barrier is still strong, but you can make out something about him marrying a woman in the tribe. Meanwhile two of the men approach the offering, but claim it isn't enough, and something about wanting more. By the way they act, they look intent on following you back to the cave so you can get the rest. Uru tries to defuse the situation by asking as best he can to stop hostilities and that you aren't interested in tribute or protection by them. They don't seem all that concerned and seem to say that you'll need if if you don't giver proper tribute.
Back at the cave, the others simply prepare and wait for the hopeful return of Uru and Illeo.
>What do? The two parts of the group can act individually.
>>160979
Stirghten up, think long and hard about this, making sure you know each word is getting to them, making sure Illeo is clam. But if they charge they both agreed to fall back to the trap infested woods.
>"We Friends. Not slaves. Want peace. Don't want fighting. Please."
After that insist that Coda and Moah come to translate for them next month.
I think I'll handle this side right now if you don't mind.
>>161022
No problem just controlling them.
Uru speaks the words that come to mind to try and settle the dispute. Unfortunately they almost mocking respond in very simple terms that you are their good friends and friends give each other gifts. The also emphasize that you are their smallest friends, with only five members to your tribe.
It does have some small benefit though it would seem, in that they accept you leaving for now and say they'll wait for you to return with an equal amount as last time, rather than following you to the cave.
>Do as they ask? Hold up in the cave? Attack? They or at least the two men speaking for them don't really seem that big on reasoning and equal conversation.
>>161066
Fuck, fine give them some more honey and fish but insist Coda comes next time to speak too speak for them and to us.
>I guess it easier to just deal with it for awhile and try to sort it out when we can speak easier.
Ileo probably isn't happy at all about this but have Uru try to calm her but we shouldn't just attack them, as they bring enough to get them to leave but not a fish more.
>Rick and Faun should start studying poison darts and blow tubes, making tons of darts to pratice with.
Faun starts to worry about Uru and Illeo and looks to Rick for comfort as she tears up a bit.
>Pip should keep trying to breed a littler of wolves
>>161102
Your efforts to appease the tribals seems to pay off, as upon returning with an expected amount of goods, they seem content to leave and tell you'll they'll be back with Coda next time to stop your complaining.
Illeo is able to contain herself till they leave, but flies off a handle at Uru on the way back to the cave, calling him a coward and such. Their bond decreases as a result. During this time Faun can't contain her fear for Uru's sake, and tries to keep from losing her cool. Rick notices, and consoles her despite the language barrier, trying to speak basically and saying it will be alright. She is able to thank him, as her resolve improves.
While a bow is outside of the group's current experience, blow guns and darts are entirely possible, and simple enough. After a few days, they'll have blow guns for everyone with a complement of poison darts.
Pips meanwhile continues to work with the female wolf over the coming week. He gives you a guestimate that within a month he'll have her passive enough where it would be safe to start pairing Tintin with her. He also affirms that once the pair start to bond over this process, the domestication process will go by much quicker.
>Another week passes and conflict with the oranges is avoided. What do for the coming week apart from the above tasks? Assuming, to be in preparation for the next coming of the oranges.
>>161148
Send out Pip and Illeo out hunting, bringing in big game by trying out new poison dart for the tribute meat and normal methods for our own meat.
>During this Illeo talk about how much she hates the Orange tribe while Pip feels indifferent but likes Moah.
>Rick should go out foraging to look for more plans to turn into medicine and poison. When he gets back he should start studying better tools and way to sharpen stone.
>Uru and Faun spend the day making making a tanning station to make leather out of pelts.
Have Faun talk about how scared she was for Uru, But Uru feel slightly ashamed on having to give them food so indirectly comes off as distant.
>>161211
Also make sure everyone knows how to use a weapon reasonable well.
>>161241
I doubt they will be willing to throw in with us. especially with our low numbers ,and their willingness to kowtow.
If we take the extremely risky route of direct conflict, we should try to demonstrate that they are not invincible. And that their treatment is not justified. We must remove their false belief of the orange tribe as protectors, and maybe then they would risk a battle.
However we don't nearly have that kind of resources to pull something like that off.
Orange tribe is about 30 people so they outnumber us 6 to 1
Purple Tribe is note as much smaller, so i am assuming anywhere to half the numbers of orange or 1/3 so roughly 10. I'll settle on 12-13 as a compromise for purples estimated strength.
so even combined it is likely that orange is still numerically stronger and they have a "warrior class".
We may try lying to them, maybe claim that they are not protectors but aggressors and claim they attacked our tribe and show the ruins of our old tribe. although that may cause them to cower from them rather than embolden them.
We could try a false flag attack, or try and lead some of them men who attacked pip earlier before we made contact with orange and purple, to purple tribe and force them over to our side of the fence.
Honestly we need to know more about purple tribe before we try pulling anything. It may be possible to take the long route and try have them live with us and over time, build resentment to having to pay tribute to orange tribe to a point where we refuse.
>>161276
I suppose we could point out to purple tribe that they aren't really going to protect you. How can they protect them. How can they protect you when they are days away? When they place no warriors in their village to protect them? Try and point out flawed idea that orange tribe will or intends to truly protect them. The encourage them to take measures to at least be able to fend off attacks by wild wolves or something.
Honestly We ought to build up our numbers and find previous members of our old tribe before coming to blows with orange.
>you are their good friends and friends give each other gifts. The also emphasize that you are their smallest friends, with only five members to your tribe.
And why didn't Uru call them on that BS We COULD have killed several of them before orange tribe knew a dam thing before we killed again and dropped their numbers to more manageable levels. Though we are probably not ready to accept the relation that will happen. We have a good home, but not the numbers to hold it.
>>161241
I didn't read you post too clearly, it seems. Yes sure.
We ought to try and communicate and understand each other culturally before we try that kind of integration. I'm sure Rick would know all about this, and could provide assistance.
It looks like the group is in dire straits, and so decide to split up and head out. Pips will head over to the purple tribe since he will most readily be able to communicate with them, while everyone else available will try to locate any other people.
It takes Pips several days to reach the purple tribe but he's able to do so with relative safety. In trading and conversing with them, he's able to learn what Uru wasn't. According to them, they are actually something of an outpost for a much larger tribe far to the west. They were sent here for the sole purpose of settling a small location to serve as a trading hub for the forest region. Because of this they are fine with giving tribute to the orange tribe because they just get more supplies from their parent tribe back west, and it allows them to fulfill the main purpose of their being here, to trade with the orange tribe as well as others. Also because of their reason for being here, they have something of a policy of not getting involved with local affairs, for risk of pissing anyone off and risking or losing trade. While they sympathize with your plight and offer some extra supplies for Pips to take back, they affirm that they can't risk getting involved. When asked for advice on what to do, they suggest leaving, going somewhere the oranges won't follow, other than the island they feel the need to specify. Feeling defeated, Pips departs in order to return to the cave, arriving just a couple days before the oranges return.
Meanwhile the rest of the group who went out exploring discover a fair amount more of the region around the cave. Uru who headed out east into the foothills of the mountains beyond discovered signs of people, but no actual persons. A greater understanding of the area is gained, but unfortunately the chances were already low of randomly locating people let alone any possible of the few remaining survivors of the original tribe. Thus they return with the knowledge but without the extra hands.
The final days, they buckle down and busy themselves with putting the final touches on the defenses and making shields for everyone.
---
The new week rolls over and as usual, the group notices the arrival of the oranges again. This time their are 8 of them, five men and three women, including Coda. As per usual they wait for the time being.
>What do?
Also this will be my last post for the night probably, but tomorrow when I get the chance to I'll post the updated map when I return.
>>161653
Well, we could:
1A. keep paying tribute, live under their rule.
1B. Keep paying tribute, but plot to take them down, and buy more time.
2. Pack up and leave.
3. Try and join one of the tribes.
4. Go to war!
5. Try and negotiate a better deal for the tribute.
Maybe can try and get some of their women, like the younger two of the three who showed a interest in Pip. I'm leaning towards the one who seemed to constantly start fights.
So I would first
>5. Try and negotiate a better deal for the tribute.
And try and get a women out of it. But if that fails then...
1B. Keep paying tribute, but plot to take them down, and buy more time.
If we do come to violent conflict with Orange tribe, we would need to start by learning the gender distribution ratio of orange tribe. Assuming a even breakdown the middle 15/30 probably. So in reality we probably only have to fight the men since they have dedicated warrior classes, and in that group we probably only have to focus on the warriors, which is closer to 5-10. This includes the chieftain of the tribe. And out of that, there are probably some that are in different age groups, from children to the elderly. Which brings down the numbers a bit more to that of 8 maybe, give or take 1 less, or 2 more?
If we kill some of their hunters on the same day the as the people who get tribute from us. We can probably expect to only need to kill roughly around 7 to 13 people from orange tribe.
We kill them and we can probably destroy or take over the tribe, and scatter their people. But we must absolutely kill the Chieftain and the warriors.
We will likely need to poison all our weapons tips, and give them proper sharpened stone ends.
Also to note is we can probably only apply 4 of our people to battle, and maybe a wolf or 2, to nearly 12 of them so each of us needs to kill between 1-4 people. The shaman Rick may be too old to join in this, unless maybe he can use poison blow darts from a distance.
What I want to know is, what else do we know of orange tribe?
How many warriors and warrior classes they seemed to have?
How many seem capable of hunting or fighting?
The age of the tribes people broken down into: Too old, old, mid age, young, too young.
Judgement of the characters of the Chieftain if he can (I know he barely met him), or of some of the women. Particularly The violent one, since we may be able to bring her over to our side.
Ask Pip these things.
>>162077
Right now I would say.
>1B. Just buy some time to get ready for this.
>5. Let's see if they will bring us things like if we ask for more chickens will they give us some?
When it comes to men they only can send over about 6 people at a time, so the most they could send is 2 bouts of 12 soldiers but I doubt they will commit all their soldiers to fight us like you said. But for now let's have unstable peace.
>Right now Send Pip and Illeo out to go hunt 2 deer, a basket of fish and some huney as tribute for this turn.
But ask about Moah the chicken girl and ask if the older woman would like to meet our shaman Rick to trade info about things.
While this is going on.
>Faun and Uru have a conversation about getting Faun pregnant, that decide to try after they did all the household chores.
>Rick make a dart the just makes the person pass out for a few hours.
>>162092
>bouts
Do you mean 2 boats, or 2 trips?
That's assuming they only send them by boat? And only if they have 1 boat. Pip found them by land. We would need to ask Pip how many boats he saw in the village.
I figure we can embolden some of our members to violence by remembering our village and how we can express it towards them. The shaman can probably help with that.
>>162092
Also, since OP did not specify, if there are 2 boats or one, Its possible that a single boat can fit 8 people, though that may be a burden on the boat when they take back the tribute.
We should try and trick them to send more people to collect tribute, thus increasing the numbers of people we can ambush and strike down on the shores. We do this by, acting a bit difficult or drag our feel, protest, whenever they send small numbers to collect tribute, and pretend to kowtow when they send too many, or just the right amount we feel we can kill without any losses to our side, or injuries for that matter.
One way to manage the tribute collection team's numbers, is to ask a few of them to follow us into the cave to help carry some of the tribute back, since some of our people are "busy".
>>162102
I mean they can only send 2 bouts at a time, when they first landed they send 2 with 8 men and 4 women on them.
While sending them by land would be smarter they can cross the rirver while we pick them off with darts.
For now, we will stay friends and protection until we can protect and defend our selfs.
>If anything, the destruction of our tribe should drive us for peace than war. Illeo already has a burning hate while Uru wants to get revenge so everyone who should fight wants against the Orange tribe.
>>162121
LOL, I just had a image of us fortifying the fuck outta the beach, and turning their landing into a stone age version of Saving Private Ryan.
>>162134
Holy shit, yes that is the most perfect idea ever!
>Call them pussy because they won't storm across the river like men.
>Then we have fucking poison darts, bee hives and traps at every angle!
But OP don't call them Pussy in this turn plz
>>162121
>Five in total, three men and two women, having come over in four small boats, the last looking to be laden with some sort of goods beneath a plant covering.
>>162121
Ok I can't seem to find the post, It seems like they have 2 man boats or kayaks, took 4 of them to bring the party over.
>???, about Illeo's age, a diver for seaweed and other underwater goods, low standing in the tribe and witnessed to get in fights
Also maybe we could drop hints to Coda, Pip maybe interested in her if she can demonstrate her ability to keep up with him. I'm hoping to lure her away from the tribe and hopefully increase our numbers.
>>162149
Yeah Coda did come with a treading party this time and Pip and Illeo are going to trade so I think we can get a pretty good conversation.
>Let's get Pip with the one his age I think, but the older one does sound more useful.
>But I said last night, we could make lesbians out Illeo and Coda to get Coda back?
Okay back from my sleep and you guys seem to have handled things fairly well but i think we should do the following;
1) Find more caves in the area, maybe explore further a field.
2) Obscure their entrances, so the orange tribe won't find them. Figure out where smoke from fires would exit through and alter it so the orange tribe won't see it.
3) Gather a large amount of poison, apply it to pieces of well cooked meat which we will gift to the orange tribe. In an attempt to poison their chief and as much of their population as we can.
4) Get more wolfs and traps. Maybe work on some shields and armour.
5) Remake the Atlantic wall along the beach. Cut down trees and make landing barriers to stop their boats, place sharpened logs under the water so that as they try to walk to land they are hurt.
6) Stockpile large amounts of dried and smoked fish and meat in the lower caves. So that if we need to, we can enter a siege situation against the orange tribe.
7) Conceal all entrances to our cave except the front one. That way we can harass their forces without them being able to follow.
8) Maybe stockpile medicine?
>>162162
Coda told them everything which resulted in our current predicament with having to pay tribute. I'm not sure the degree of her responsibility or her loyalty other tribe, or even if she knows this would happen. But It did happen, and we'd be risking our existence trusting her to turn her back on her own tribe.
I'd rather go with the other girl (fk I'm just gonna name her "Apra" or something) since she is willing to get into fights with her own people. Shes not as connected to them, and has low standing with them, and she may be able to get along with Illeo. And she seems to have some propensity for violence
I suppose we can get a better understanding or her pov from Coda.
>>162180
>>162178
Okay, so right now we're gonna pay tribute this week just to get off our back while we stockpile what we need.
>Fuck it, go with the girl who's Illeo age.
But now we need to decide our next turn want what we do for the month we have?
>I like what one Anon said, Stockpile dried meats and smoked fish incase we become under siege.
> Also breeding wolfs also seem like a very worth cause to put time in to doing.
>But I think we should start making leather to make better shields, armor and the like.
>>162178
Good, I'm about to take a nap, so you can take over for me.
We have only so much time to do all that, and I think we can negotiate a better tribute amount.
They can also try and smoke us out of the cave. If anything we should make some secret tunnels or entrances.
We should be fucking furious for them coming back so soon. Claim that we are so few in numbers and they take so much from us, that we cannot keep up without depleting the area of food and starving instead of feeding ourselves, since we are busy giving free shit away to them for almost nothing except for sweet words and empty promises.
What if they poison the wrong people? This is not that smart of a move, since we do not know who will be eating it, and if the tribute party will eat some of them first.
I'm thinking we roll out the defense after we see them coming in to attack, so they do not decide to go by land or redirect, push out our defenses when we spot them coming in boats over the horizon. We will make them first of course.
Unless we can sneak out during the siege to fuck with them (secret tunnels and entrances yo!), we are dead of we try to hold out, since their supplies won't dwindle while ours will.
We will be making alot of obstacles and traps that will slow them down, hurt them, and reduce the amount of people they can bring to bare onto us at any one time.
We don't need medicine, we got a medicine man!
>>162192
I support these actions assuming we also attempt to stockpile poison.
>>162192
Well I want to try and negotiate the tribute lower, we know we are gonna be forced to pay it even after Coda "clarifies" everything.
And we need to become decent killers, Like in The walking dead where we are a small but lethal group. So far only Illeo and Pip or Uru are the best we have, in the order
>>162204
We probably don't need too much, just like a few jars worth would be more than enough. We are adding them to most of our weapons to give us an advantage.
>>162204
>>162206
So if we're gonna still pay tribute, what should be a good amount to pay?
>I was gonna give them a basket of meat and 2 baskets of fish.
>I was thing just 2 deers and some mushrooms might do it.
Also, everyone in our tribe are hunters while the Orange just farm and intimadte so in 1 on 1 we would win anytime.
>>162213
Oh shit I just a perfect idea.
>Have Rick make a shaman robe out of pelts and shit along with a helmet out of our bear skull.
>start making war chants along with one's the induce fear in our enemies.
Rolled 82 (1d100)
I'd also like to say that we will have to be going on the offensive for the most part. If all works well to the plan.
We kill a hunter/warriors or 2 of theirs without them knowing.
Then we take out the tribute party.
Then we strike at the village aiming for the chief. Or if we are too slow, or need to sleep for a day, and can't catch them before the figure out whats going on and move on us. We try and ambush them, either on route by land, or force them through our defenses on the beach if by boat.
Then we can pull back to our stronghold.
We do not need to wipe out everyone after the first 2 parts. We just need to make sure cripple or kill 1 or 2 and let them cash us.
We also need to make more secret hidden entrances and exits for our base and trap them.
And start searching for a emergency backup site incase we fail, and need to cede our cave. The cave at this point is more expendable than anyone in our group.
>>162221
Actually that is a good one, we can grab all the bones from the cave inside and out, and use it like armour/terror effect with warpaint. Dehumanize ourselves and use bone armour. Infact we can just use light pelts that hold up the bones instead of heavy pelts.
Side note, we need to find the Jaw of an ass bone for our main weapon! Rolling for it.
>>162232
I am confidant we will find what I am looking for.
>>162232
>cash us.
Chase us*
>>162232
Man, OP has his work cut out for him when he gets back.
>But it's gonna get good
>>162258
LOL, we spent nearly 2 hours talking about how we are gonna eradicate a tribe and eliminate it as a threat our existence.
>>162271
Well I hope to keep some of them alive to absorb. Hopefully they will submit to WHEN we kill all of their fiercest warriors and leader, alone with any that may object. But thats probably going to be in hindsight or after the fact.....
Maybe we should take our boat across to them and try to assasinate their leader with poison.
stupid to go for open conflict when outnumbered 6 to 1
>>162277
Well, we could just scare the living shit out of them so they pay tribute to us because they think we're gods?
>the robes and bones costumes along with war paint, drums and chants.
I wonder if Rick can make colored fire or knows any scary gods. So we can say send us girls for your god.
>>162301
Coda doesn't know about Rick so everyone in the Orange tribe thinks we only have 4 people.
>>162307
So long as we can get him to make flammable alcohol and breathe fire at them. We do know how to make alcohol and that its flammable right?
Actually, think we can destroy them by giving them fire-water, so they are constantly drunk and kill themselves? We should work on getting them shit fucking addicted and drunk all the time let alcoholism destroy them from within.
Hmm that is probably too meta-gamey so I'll settle for flammable liquids we can throw at them. We shall become the known as The Fire tribe. Then, The FIRE NATION!
>>162300
It was also stupid for the Spartans to try to hold against the Persian empire. It was stupid of the British to hold against Spanish armada. It was outright insane of the Finns to hold out against the red ocean of troops that faced them in the winter war.
Do you notice what happens in all these events? The lesser group wins because they are better prepared or fought with their strengths. In this we are easily better off than the orange tribe, as they aren't trying to defeat us as they think they already have.
However i do agree that we should attempt to poison them but i believe we should do so in three weeks or so. That should give us enough time to gather food (both to poison and to survive a siege), prepare defences and secure both this and back up caves.
>>162300
I'm all for killing him, but... we don't have a boat. We can kill some people for a boat though....
>>162352
We got a boat some time ago
>>162352
We have a bout, it's underground in the lower cave lake.
>I think there is still even parts of the underground cave that's unexplored.
Wow that's a lot to read through.
>>162368
We have very complex plans, most of which boil down to preparing to screw with the orange tribe.
>>162368
Lol sorry about that, we got carried away.
>Here's a shaman for the trouble.
>>162381
>>162374
I don't mind at all, it's fun to see. I'll just need time to read through it and work out an action plan.
Also the boat is no longer in the underground lake since the group generally knows how to swim now. It's currently sitting by the pond at the back entrance to the cave, and the group had used it to cross the river to see the purples each time.
I'm not sure if I can continue play just yet, might have to get lunch, but what I will do is try to clear up some of the questions asked earlier, so that you guys have a better picture of what the situation is, to decide on how to act.
>>162394
>>162077
Well right now, we are talking to Coda for
"clarification" on WTF is going on. Then we are going to try and haggle down the tribute amount. before inevitably paying it, to buy us time before we >1B. Keep paying tribute, but plot to take them down, and buy more time.
And asking Pip for more information. We aren't going to fully commit to action till we at least clear things up and get more info right? We are not going to war just yet....
>>162403
Yes, please
>>162327
we are not spartans, spartans kinda trained for stuff...
Finns fought a defensive war...
Spanish people have siestas in the middle of battle.
>>162414
They still went on the attack. Ambushing the front and rear ends of soviet columns on skis.
>>162421
Nor can we do it if we just waltz right in and start stabbing people, or poisoning their food. I doubt everyone in their tribe will be eating it. Especially people like Apra.
>>162077
You ask Pips more info about the tribe. From what he remembered, the rough breakdown was like so
>31 people total, Coda was with the main group during the exchange so wasn't counted to the total
>15 men, 16 women
>This includes elderly and children
>Of the men, 10 were of adult fighting age, 3 were children, 2 were elderly
>Of the women a similar case, 10 were of adult fighting age, 3 were children, 3 were elderly. Two of the women are visibly pregnant though.
Now that's not to say that they're all well and capable of fighting, just who is of the age to do so. Pips remembers that most of the tribe were not particularly in shape, and by their culture most of the women probably would not be fighters. Overall their mentality and physicality much prefer hunting and fishing to actual combat.
As for warriors, to Pips' eye only 4 could be considered proper warriors, the chieftain, two men and a woman. The chieftain seemed the most capable and was said to be able to protect the tribe in symbolic conflicts, like accepted duels with representatives of other tribes, and his personality was rather blunt and a little hostile. The women were a pretty decent range from happy to hostile, with the latter being most obvious in the diver woman who seemed unhappy among the tribe.
Cont. with more answers.
>>162102
As a water-living focused tribe, they've got more than enough boats for everyone. Probably why they accepted giving one to you guys for a fairly low trade.
>>162120
The boats of this tribe's design can comfortably fit 3 people, 4 people or supplies if the occupants don't mind getting cozy.
>>162309
>>162326
Alcohol, even flammable sort is possible, but Rick only vaguely knows how to do it if he has fruit, which you haven't been able to find in the lands surrounding the lake.
He does know how to make flammable sticky substance though, from a certain kind of tree resin, which Pips knows to grow in the forest to the south of the cave.
---
Alright I think that answers most of the questions? I think I'll be heading out for a bit, but if you have anymore more I'll answer them when I return, and resume play after.
>>162503
I've been up for over 20 hours so I'm nap.
>>162503
I wonder if we can't just have Uru and Illeo fight their leaders to head of the tribe?
>Of course we to start training, making better weapons and armor for the fight.
>And it's only dishonorable to use poison if they know you use poison.
And I forgot but we should explore the island in the middle of the lake.
>it might have furit on it? And a distillery is pretty complex but if bumkins from Mississippi can do I'm sure our shaman can.
>>162532
bumkins from Mississippi arent literal neanderthals though.
>>162592
But how hard could it be?
>Mix frutie and berries with least we get from the purple tribe to make potato mash.
> then we just boil it and recondens it lster in to nice drinkable vodka.
>>162667
*yeast
Ok I'm back. Will properly read through the suggestions, but if a general consensus summary could be made that would also be helpful
>>162092
The group has one day left before the oranges are expected to arrive. Illeo and Pips decide to see if they can range up something for the tribute, and end up actually hunting a small deer. This should be quite sufficient for their needs, if they can even take it back with them.
Meanwhile back at the cave while tending to defenses and duties, Uru and Faun come to talk about family and making a baby. Intimacy between them hadn't been lacking lately but with all the trouble going on recently they'd been restraining themselves and holding off on actually getting pregnant. With worry increasing as tensions with the oranges have risen though, they fear they may not get another chance, and so they decide to start properly trying to conceive on a regular basis, starting with that night.
Rick meanwhile makes poison and has two types, one which causes onset sleepiness, and one which is a mild paralytic and causes the wound not to clot or heal.
---
The next day comes, and as expected, the oranges arrive on the shores. There are eight of them this time, five men and three women including Coda.
>How would you like to approach them, if at all?
I also saw a lot of other plans, but they will take more time so can be enacted after this day/the oranges are met with.
>>162881
I feel like I'm repeating myself.
Ask them why are they treat us so poorly demanding such high tribute that depletes our reserves.
Why did they harm Pip, he did not want to be taken away.
You claim friendship, and yet give nothing in return, this is not a friendship but rather bullying.
We are not even being protected by you since you and the tribe are at least a day away from us.
They are asking for so much that the land loses its luster, and we exhaust ourselves to your demands instead of tending to our own. Insist on being bullied into giving less tribute.
And ask Coda if she knew this would happen to us, ask her if she has done this before with purple tribe or other tribes.
>>162941
I vote along with this anon, they have been mean and I would very much like to know why all this has been going.
>>162941
Well they've kept coming for resources so it's been roughly the same conversation each time. With Coda though, Pips is able to freely converse with her more or less.
According to her, they are demanding so much because from what she told them it sounds like your group is resplendent with goods and they think you can handle what they're asking for. For Pips, they wanted to drag him off to marry him to the female shaman when it was learned that he knew how to domesticate wolves, though you do mention his interest in the diver woman and they say you can pretty much have her if you want, they'd be glad to be rid of her. They still want Pips though, for his domestication abilities.
As for the nature of the relationship, Coda says if your group ever does need help or protection, the oranges will totally support you in that regard, and if you feel the tributes are unfair (if you explain the truth to them) then she says she can get them to make it a more reasonable exchange and at a less frequent rate, though the tribute in general isn't something that is going to stop. They've just been heavy handed as of late to kind of put you in your place, and gauge what you're capable of providing.
You make a good case about being overtaxed though, both your group and the area you live in. Coda says that will help to reduce the tribute amount, and if you care to show some of them your stores so they can see for themselves your stock, that also will quite soundly put to rest the beliefs that your group is simply rolling in luxuries.
Pips also asks Coda about her role in all this, to which she admits she feels bad about. It's been a regular thing that her tribe sort of acts like a bully in the region around the lake, and there are two other groups besides yours (purple probably being one of them) whom they exact tribute from in order for protection. However, she had no idea that telling them of her lavish treatment by your group would lead them to being so harsh with their actions. She attributes a lot of the blame to the cheiftain, who upon hearing the stories, worries that your small group may outperform his own in terms of supplies and goods, and that you might be able to overcome the oranges (by convincing other tribes to rise up, by paying off warriors to fight for you, etc...) which obviously isn't acceptable under his watch.
Basically it seems that the tribute effort to you, has been so harsh out of an intent to put you into place and get an idea of what you're capable of. If you really are a threat then they seek to clip your wings through tribute, if you aren't, then they just want to maintain the status quo whereby they are the dominant tribe in the region of the lake.
>Anything else to ask? Care to invite them to the cave to try and settle the rumors? Any actions at all really. Remember that things are still happening on a day to day basis right now, so longer actions are not at this moment possible.
>>162999
Checking the previous post, we seemed to have had a stockpile of about a weeks food when we last check, we can pretend the mushrooms are poisoned , and have Rick put a little special paralyzing stuff to it.
How much foodstuff and supplies do we actually have? We work our asses off.
If we bring them to the cave, we should hide Rick, and pile bones and dead stuff over our weapons.
>>162999
Well, it seems it's only their leader who's got a problem with us, but never the less give them the deer and say next week bring diver girl and Coda, they can squash the rumours then.
>Tell them next week's tribute will be a basket of meat with some mushrooms.
>We're just gonna hide all our goods and go ham on our land makin so they think we're just a weak, small tribe so we can be left alone much like the purple with a mangable tribute for now.
>>162999
Explain that they may come to the cave, and that the reason we displayed our "wealth" to her was in fact because she was a guest. Not because we could spare such resources, as in we gave up a large amount of time and "money" in order to make her feel comfortable.
Next, after they have inspected our stores, explain how Pips must be allowed to decide whom he shall mate/marry/date with. Pips will, logically, refuse to date the shaman and end that matter.
Also explain that we are willing to pay a dowry for the diver girls hand for Pips and, if their culture allows for multiple wives, for any other willing brides, except for the shaman.
Lastly explain that we also would like anyone from their village who is socially undesirable to know that we will, probably, accept them if they wish to join us.
Maybe mention that since we have our shaman and they have theirs, we could do some sort of cultural exchange?
Certainly point out to them we only know of them and the purple tribe, whom have stated they aren't going to involve themselves in any local conflicts. Meaning we can't "hire warriors to conquer them" even if we had the resources to. Maybe ask if they could point out this other tribe to us.
>>163050
In the lower cave, there is our mushroom farm room that also has the chickens in it whrew we could hide all our stuff like Rick, food and weapons.
>It's goes so far back torch light couldn't see it when we first went down there.
>>163091
Great idea, both on the 2 wives and the question for how many could they send to help us.
>But if they are against having more then one wife just take Diver girl as a member.
>>163085
We should really wait a little while before they should come look but other then that I agree with alot of what you said.
>>163090
That works then, but is our boat there? what if they start asking questions about why the boat is there..... I suppose we can say its for safe keeping, since the boat tends to float away when we leave it on the shore or worry someone will take it when we are not watching it. We feign common sense to tie the thing down I suppose.
>>163085
I was thinking something long those lines. Like : we treated her better than we treated each other because we wanted to leave a good impression and build good relations with your tribe and felt that it would reflect well on us to her people. Not make us targets for extortion because you think you can and therefore should.
>>162999
Also, how is purple tribe really benefiting if they need to keep getting resupplied for the tribute they pay, instead of sending more stuff back?
We should seek out the other tribe unmentioned. Don't ask for it, we should find it on our own. In fact we can probably ask purple tribe if they know where it is, for trade reasons, since they probably trade with them. Ask if they know of any others nearby as well.
>>163112
It is important that she comes to us, not be delivered to us or else they could considered it a good reason to take pip or return the tribute levels back to normal/increase.
>>163050
It's true that usually the tribe works hard, but as of late they've focusing most of their efforts on things like defense, going to contact the purple tribe, and in general preparing against the oranges.
For overall food since I don't want to break it down to be as specific as saying "This much meat, this much berries, etc" I'll just say you've generally got enough food to last five days. For supplies that aren't consumable, the oranges aren't that interested in so the groups amount of those goods hasn't decreased much at all.
Either way, you have Coda explain to them that she was treated well as a guest, rather than an abundance of supplies. Furthermore, you lead three of them to the cave, and by having sent Uru back ahead of you, he and the others still in the cave quickly struggle to hide or get rid of things you don't want the oranges seeing. As such most valuables are given to rick who goes out the back entrance and waits there, most of the food is hidden in the mushroom chamber, and most of the weapons are hidden beneath bones and clothes. They comment that you seem to have improved your defenses but you mention worries about a bear to pass them off. The seem pretty impressed with the cave overall and are surprised there was a place like this so near to them that they never found. When eventually they do see what you present to be your supplies, they quietly come to an agreement. They decide they can lessen the tribute by asking for less supplies, and coming only once a month till your group finds its feet again, then increasing to once every two weeks but not more than that.
By giving them the deer, they are content with just that and say they'll put things in a good light to the chieftain. Before they leave though you have some questions about the situation with Pips. They say that if he is to marry one of theirs it is their choice who, and naturally they will pick the shaman since between his survival and domestication skils, and her medicine and religious skills, they will make for a very valuable couple to the orange tribe. They tend to not permit multiple wives but if it meant Pips going to live with them then they might be able to let something slide. All of this though is unrelated to the diver woman who regardless of the situation with Pips, they're willing to let you have her. Coda though isn't really on the table, she likes you guys and might be able to come and visit, but she does like living with her tribe and isn't much interested in coming to live with you permanently.
They do seem interested in an exchange between your shaman and theirs though, that does get their attention. They make clear that the next time they show up, in a week but not for tribute, they'll bring various things and people.
As for the other tribe they take tribute from, they tell you they are to the north of their own orange tribe, but not close to the lake, farther inland.
Cont. with the new posts, but feel free to give actions.
>>163091
When asked about warriors sent by them if help was needed, they say their core fighting group (the chieftain and other three warriors) would show up in short order to help with anything, and if the struggle looked more dangerous, they could commit 12 fighters total though they don't break down the specifics of it.
>>163112
They themselves are usually against multiple partners after marriage, but they make clear that whatever your group does is your own business and they won't care.
>>163130
The boat was by the pond at the back entrance to the cave, basically Rick was waiting there with the valuables while the oranges were shown the cave.
As for purple tribe, when Pips talked with them, they claimed that the goods provided by the orange tribe were quite sufficient and valuable to the much larger purple tribe out to the west, to warrant ongoing resupplies to the purple outpost near the oranges.
When you next get the chance, for sure you can go to the purples to ask about other tribes in the region, since they seem to be trading with all of them.
>>163150
Why did we tell them about Rick, we were gonna dress him up in dead bear garb and bones while throwing fire to scare them.
>>163150
Ask them how many would be coming and if they will be staying for a few days and bring their own food maybe. If asked why, it is to know if we can sustain the exchange for more than a few days.
Well now that we showed them the cave, they may want to take it from us....
Ask them why they didn't just ask us to join their tribe. Its too late now after doing this to us...
>>163150
Okay first off
Pip goes to find this new tribe, maybe in any time he has after that he should attempt to tame the female wolf.
Uru and Faun work on more tools and non-consumable goods (tools, instruments, pots, etc), maybe try for a baby.
Illeo should attempt to get food as a general effort from hunting, fishing and such.
Lastly, rick should focus on preparing for the cultural exchange. By producing anything he could think of that is relevant and also by turning the bear skull and such into a set of suitable robes for himself.
>>163204
No need, they TOLD us or OP did freely without consequence.... We can just send him instead to purple tribe with one other, to learn more of our area, since we will have less time to explore due to our regular tributes.
>>163179
If they haven't left yet ask them to bring there shaman so we can meet her and weigh if Pip should go with.
>He's not going are you fucking kidding me.
And now they are off our backs, send Uru and Rick to the island in the middle of the lake to see if anything of value is there, bring back what they can.
>During this Uru has a heart to heart with Rick about being ashamed for giving in but knowing the survival of everyone is the most important.
While back at the cave Faun should spend more time with the 3 chickens we have trying to increse our numbers and eggs.
>Also good food for our soon booming wolf population.
Pip and Illeo should go out and start chopping down trees to make some wooden walls so we have a enclosed area in front of our cave entrance.
>If Orange asks say it's to start growing crop which it is for, but Illeo should ask how was Coda and what did she look like?
>>163199
You didn't tell them about Rick, you only mentioned you have a shaman which they could believe to be any of you except for Pips. Only Coda saw him in the woods before she left, so they certainly aren't aware of any plans to scare them with bones and fur.
As for the next time, they said they'll be bringing the diver woman, their shaman, and then the usual 5 person retinue. They let you know though that they'll be able to sustain themselves during their stay.
When asking about why they didn't seek to have you join, they almost immediately and in unison, flat out respond that they don't want you in their tribe. The would barely be able to tolerate Pips long term and only because of the large benefits he wold bring them. Otherwise, their answer is the same for why they didn't absorb and of the other small local tribes. They have their own tribal dynamic and culture, and want to keep it that way. Outsiders would just be a bother, particularly by how different your group is and with a different language.
With that, I believe that concludes the interaction with the oranges before they depart? Will follow with the coming week.
>>163245
Yeah I think would be all for them now.
>Let's have Faun pretend to be the Shaman use Pip as the translator and have Rick there but warped in furs so you can see his face but close enough to tell Faun to ask things.
>>163204
In the coming week, the first few days Pips goes back to the purples to find out what they know of other tribes in the area. They gladly give him the info, though it's a little vague since their orientation of direction is different from yours. When he returns, he will focus on working with the female wolf, and is already starting to have Tintin interact with her. Won't be long before they can start pairing, and he expects a litter in some months time.
Uru and Faun work on better tools, and by now basically all the tools and weapons of the tribe are stone tipped or headed. As an ongoing action they will try for a baby as often as they can, you can't say for sure since this never a certain matter, but at their going rate it shouldn't take long.
When Pips returns, most of the group takes a trip over to the island. When they approach, they find it lined with many waterline hanging trees but no shore. Upon touching down on land, a short walk inland and the waterborne trees give way to strange fruit trees the likes of which the group has never seen, pale in all ways including fruit. After walking around for awhile they start to realize that the fruit trees are growing in rows and clearly have been planted that way, like a small orchard lining the exterior of the island. Moving towards the center, the group comes upon a series of hill mounds lined with stones and bearing carved stone doorways. Seeming to connect each of these mounds is a path of stones slightly sticking out of the ground, leading to each doorway.
Something in particular, that Rick notices the grass here to be quite short and very neat, the ground very level. Illeo also after awhile, seems to notice or at least feel like she hasn't noticed any insects and possibly even birds. One way or another the place is very quiet, save for the wind.
>What do?
>>163303
Call out to anyone on the island, assuming no one is there then enter the mounds.
>>163299
As an aside, since I realized I should have mentioned it earlier, but making Faun the shaman is feasible idea, since the orange tribals are actually quite intimidated by her, both because of her difference in race, and how tall she is.
>>163245
Practice kill by hunting large game. And make some games and training regimes based around fighting and throwing shit accurately and lethally.
Set up an area for the gather to take place in, a fair distance away from the mouth of the cave, and far away enough from their boats. make sure we all agree on what to say and what not to say to them so we can be consistent.
>>163303
Leave no traces they were there, and explore cautiously. Get Rick to start making flaming sap in balls of twigs and leaves and stuff. Carve a large wooden spoon to throw with.
>>163316
cool, but what would the point be anyways since we will be revealing our total numbers with rick being present. My idea was to have a unknown extra member pop up in battle wearing scary shit to make them lose some morale or freeze a little in battle.
Its also possible their shaman lady might be able to figure out whats going on.
>>163303
Keep looking around, but tell Rick to gather a some fruits from every tree so it looks like no fruit is gone.
>Knock on the door and peak in a little bit if there is no answer on any door.
>>163360
>From every tree
>wanting them to not notice anything missing
pick one.
>>163314
>>163332
The group while carefully exploring try to leave as little trace of their presence as possible. They walk around for awhile calling out if anyone is there though, but no answer.
They decide to check out one of the mounds to find the entrance barricaded with a stone door. With their efforts combined they are able to nudge it a bit, enough to fit inside by squeezing. They didn't think to bring a torch so it's difficult to see but in the dim light the place appears to be a crypt of some sort, with a singular hallway lined with remains in cutout coffin spaces in the walls, leading to a lowered central chamber which has a hole in the ceiling to let light down on an actual closed coffin made of stone. Throughout the place are lots of pots with rotten or withered remains, though there are torch sconces on the walls from which hang old sort of small tapestries. Shame you don't have a means of fire with you.
It's a safe assumption to make, that the other mounds are like this one, burial purposes.
>What do?
>>163369
I think he means try to take only one to a couple fruit from each tree, so that it doesn't look like fruit has been taken (no one is going to notice just one or two missing), but having taken from all the trees, a large amount of fruit overall is collected. Rick can do this before the group leaves.
>>163386
Fine, Take as little as possible, we just want the seeds in the end.... We won't be able to take enough to make alcohol.
>>163386
Okay if we're going back to the camp have Rick start to make flammable sticky tree resine, with the aid of Pip. When he isn't tending the the wolves, chickens or hunting he should be learning from Rick.
>Let's plant some seeds in the Forrest in hidden locations, but we need to test the fruit and see what we can do with them.
Uru and Faun should spend time making a tanning rack to start making leather out of pelts.
>Also have a candle lit night in the mushroom room alone to try to conceive.
Another Anon should pick what Illeo does I don't know what she should do.
>>163425
Don't plant it yet, we want to see if we can trade for some of the fruit from purple tribe so they don't think we stole from the sacred island. It would probably make relations worse than what we have with orange. Or if we can find some of it growing naturally in the wild.
>>163454
I'm not sure the Orange will care we took some fruit, but in case we do yeah let's go trade off the fruit for some Rick and make Alcohol with.
>Also if possible get seed for any crop they might have?
>>163506
*They *Can
Sorry guy I smoke to much weed to spell.
>I'm a simple man
>>163400
The group decides not to disturb the burial mound any further, and take their leave. Any items or weapons are not theirs to take.
On the way back to the boat though, Rick makes an effort to pick a single fruit off a number of trees and ends up with about twenty. Curious, Illeo takes a bite of one she grabs herself, and finds the taste to be rather strange. The fruit itself is very juicy and fleshy, but the taste is a little too bitter for her liking.
With that the group returns back home and though they'd like to go trade off some of the fruit to the purples for something good, they don't have time left to do so if they want to be ready for the oranges.
Back to regular paced play.
---
Faun has been tending to the chickens and there are now six of them, as well as a steady supply of eggs. Uru assists her with this and among their other duties, including constructing a rack for treating hides, they continue to try for a baby. There was an idea to make a special night in the mushroom chamber, but they dismiss the idea as being a little too morbid what with the remains of a dead person in there.
In the last few days till the oranges come, Illeo takes to hunting to build back up the groups stocks of food. Pips just continues to work with the female wolf, Rick busies himself with collecting tree resin and treating it to be more gooey and flammable
One way or another, the week passes over and the oranges come again. There are eight of them this time, three men and two women, plus the presence of Coda, the diver woman, and the female shaman. This time instead of waiting for any tribute, they set up a small temporary camp.
>>163506
Our relation level with purple compared to orange.
>>163601
>trade off some of the fruit to the purples
Why? We don't want them to know we went to the island they told us to stay away from. Don't we?
>>163632
I thought they meant the purples to trade the fruit to. If not, is anyone getting the fruit or are you just keeping all of it?
>>163639
i thought we were making alcohol to trade from the fruit?
>>163639
Give it to orange i suppose. or plant the fruit in the ground somewhere far off from us...?
>>163601
Alright now that they are here ask for the diving girl, shaman and Coda all come up to our cave but just outside of the gate for the Shaman and Coda. The Diver girl can come in but tell her just to stay in the common room for now.
>Send out Pip and Illeo to do tribute and do some talking as Rick and Faun get ready.
>Faun need to have some questions and answers ready for the other shaman.
>Rick needs to be hidden but Uru can ask qestions for him or give Faun info.
>>163601
Send all of our our group down, begin the cultural exchange! Everyone is to enjoy themselves but to be cautious.
After the exchange, everyone but Rick and Pips should work on cutting down trees around our cave, to be later processed.
Pips is to go with rick and trade for some goats with the purple tribe.
After this Rick is to work on making candles and other long term lighting solutions for our cave. While Pips works on taming the wolf.
Any suggestions?
>>163651
That's fine if that's the plan, I just got confused for a bit.
>>163652
It was the oranges the purples said didn't like the island, though they themselves didn't seem to be fans either. Planting the seeds though should be fine, you can easily find some good spots in the hills to the north and east.
>>163664
Some of the group approach the oranges to invite them to the cave. Visibly as is the case, they more or less shove the diver woman (did she have a name?) off the boat and tell her to enjoy her new life. She is brought back to the cave and taken inside, made to wait in the first room area for the time being.
Pips and Illeo go to offer tribute again but Coda says because of the renegotiation it isn't expected till another three weeks so you just take it back. During this time Faun prepares to act as the shaman, and dons the outfit made by rick of the bear hide and skull. Her approach visibly frightens the oranges, and even after they understand what's going on they remain on edge. Overall the cultural exchange goes quite well, and some tensions with the oranges decrease as you try to remain friendly towards them. As well, with Pips and Coda as translators, Faun and the female shaman are able to trade some valuable information, of benefit to you in knowing one of the best uses for the seaweed of the lake in making a white power which acts as a good cleaning and dyeing agent as well as for medicinal purposes. More than once though the shaman asks about Pips and a marriage to him, and how he would do well for both your tribes.
This general process continues for a few days till the oranges have to leave (any actions to have taken with them after the fact are fine, will retcon them in), and they say they'll be back in the three weeks time for the tribute and another exchange.
>Anything to do for the rest of the month, apart from the orders already stated here >>163699
>>163773
Have the Diver girl go out with Illeo for fishing and seaweed gathering to Illeo.
>Also have Illeo try to learn more of the Forrest speak and have a moment where the two become silent friends when they play in the water.
After the trees are cut down start the process of making wooden wall and making the area at the entrance of the cave flat and clear of rocks and bushes.
>>163773
Oh, okay, Grab as many as you want then.
>>163664
>Send out Pip and Illeo to do tribute and do some talking as Rick and Faun get ready.
>Pips and Illeo go to offer tribute again but Coda says because of the renegotiation it isn't expected till another three weeks so you just take it back.
>>163245
It.. what? why did u want to offer them more tribute?
>>163773
Start integrating the new girl I named "Apra"
or maybe Appa, or Apa. I got sic kof calling her the second girl violent girl w/e. make sure she is welcomed so long as she proves herself and worth, teach her, and have her spend time with Rick, and Uru.
Try to find the other tribes, make contact and see if they would be willing to co-operate with taking down orange, make sure they are being bullied by orange first.
A month passes, as things progress as planned.
The most important change, Apra, seems to get by well enough. She's obviously tense and unfriendly at first, but when the group treats her well and doesn't antagonize her, she adapts well to her new life and starts pulling her weight as an experienced fisher and diver. Her spare time is spent with Rick and Uru trying to learn the ways of the group. The only thing of note that occurs, is she freaks out when she first sees the white peaches from the island, and thereafter wants nothing to do with them. When asked she refuses to speak of the place and simply refers to it as haunted.
An ongoing effort is to fell trees in the area to better fortify the cave, at some point Apra being carefully filled in on the plan, which she seems alright with and indicating that she would help if it came to violence, at least in defending. Early on in the month though, Pips and Rick go to the purples to trade, and learn of the other tribes in the area. They manage to get four young goats for the cost of most of the furs your group had gotten. Upon their return, an effort is devoted to making an outside pen area for the goats and chickens, since they would do better with some sun you figure. If bad things happen, they can also easily be taken inside the cave. With this, the group has a steady supply of eggs, chicken meat, goat milk, and eventually goat meat.
Illeo meanwhile is tasked with heading out to find the suspected other tribe that the oranges take tribute from, since Pips will be busy with the wolves (which by the end of the month he is successfully mating), and after two weeks does indeed find them or at least who she believes to be them. A small tribe dwelling a ways into the forests to the north of the oranges, on an offshoot stream of the lake. After hunting for a few days to build up stock, Illeo approaches them peaceably and offers the meats to trade. Her grasp of Forest Speak is not as good as others in the group but she tries to converse with them and figure out how they feel.
Only fourteen people to her knowledge, basically a few families spread out through the woods along the stream, they don't seem to be too happy with the oranges exacting tribute, most of their ire stemming from just wanting to be left alone. However, in the past the oranges did actually help them out when another group of people tried to keep raiding them and drive them out. As such, while somewhat unhappy with the situation, they do feel indebted to the oranges and also rely on them for trade in some items and foodstuffs. After spending a few days with this tribe, Illeo makes the effort to return to the group. The rest of the time she spends hunting and sharing duties with Apra.
Also overtime the area outside the cave has been cleared of things like rocks and plant growth, and a second wall has been made outside, creating a sort of semicircle around the mouth of the cave.

>Updated map of the entire lake now, the pink square is the newly met tribe.
The month passes with some good developments made by the group. Any actions to take going forward, both with the exchange with the the oranges and also general actions? If they aren't too complicated, the group can kind of go into auto-pilot mode for a number of months that you choose, and assuming nothing serious happens they'll just continue business as normal with doing duties, performing actions and interactions, and developing.
Cont. with a map of the island as well
>>164453
The island, showing the line of wild trees around the exterior, the orchard arrangements in pink lines, the mounds, standing stones and paths in black, some sort of flower arrangement path in purple, and a tall rocky outcropping to the upper left, which from what you could see without exploring, would give a clear view of the island as well as the entire lake region pretty much.
>>164453
Continue enhancing our cave + the surrounding area, taming more wolves, trading supplies, farming the fruit, hunting, fishing and generally just getting better off. Also produce the complex fabrics that Faun knows how to make, turn them into rugs, clothes and such.
Additionally, see if any of the tribes have anyone else they want to unload on us, after making sure they aren't useless, "cursed" or a criminal.
>>164327
At night have Apar try to teach everyone better Forrest speak with Pip helping when he can to try to double how fast we can learn the language while talking about what the Orange tribe is like and what they have.
Pip and Uru should try to make arrows now that we have feathers and alrwdy made darts.
>Have Pip should keep trying to get the wolves to breed, as well as taking care of the animals in general.
Illeo and Apar should go out hunting looking for big game but also to try to teach Apar how to take bigger game.
>Durring this Illeo should give Apar the cold shoulder because she know the meat has to go to the Orange tribe.
Rick and Faun should spend there time looking for fruit to make Alcohol out of or anything else of interest.
>Other than foraging he should work to making leather out of what ever pelts we have.
>>164600
Ask the scattered people if they would like to come live with us, and stop paying tribute to orange tribe. Test the waters a bit first.
make proper contact with the other tribes, but when orange starts raising our quote tribute again that is when we need to put our plan into action.
So start practicing with weapons and making bone Armour with head protection. Start layig out traps and obstacles on both likely land routes to our cave from their village, but keep them out of the way and a bit hidden. Make barricades and sharpened punji stick to stock pile, we can deploy them later. start building some walls that will forces them into narrow areas when they come to us, like a outside wall or palisade.
With a general plan of action, three months pass safe, sound and productive.
The cave is continually enhanced and strengthened, to where now it is a small fort, with both an outer and inner wall, an external enclosed living area including a place for the animals, and the chambers inside the cave start to become rather comfy with wooden furnishings as made by Uru, and several fallback points. Beyond the fort, two crude watchtowers have been built, one by the shore and one in the treeline. Also a general frequency of wooden spike barricades all over the place, so that attacking the fort en masse would be difficult. Cleverly you are able to prevent the oranges from noticing all of this, by doing all dealings at the shoreline.
The wolves successfully mated, and bore a litter of four pups the week previous to this. Pips is ecstatic and is looking forward to raising them, and the female wolf though still skittish and sometimes hostile is relatively domesticated enough that she no longer needs to be caged 24/7. He questions the feasibility of catching more wolves in time, to avoid inbreeding problems. For the other animals, the goats have matured more but aren't breeding yet. The chickens though, there are a good few now, ten total.
Trading has moved forward with the purple tribe who are able to provide flax, which Faun can work with to make linens and string. There is also some effort to plant seeds of the plant but the group isn't that versed in agriculture so it's a mixed result. Still though, before long everyone in the group has relatively nice clothes, and the fort is becoming adorned with proper beds, roofing, drapes and even floor mats.
Food stockpiles have recovered and quite stable now, to a rate where you are more than capable of feeding everyone, paying tribute, and still increasing your supplies by a good amount. With frequent short trips to the island for peaches as well, some booze production has been undertaken, resulting in a bittersweet wine of sorts which some in the group have taken a liking to, except Apra of course.
The pink and purple tribes didn't really have anyone who cared to come live with you, but the oranges did have a crippled man who they could shove off on you if you please. The problem is you aren't sure if you can trust the oranges if you eventually plan to take action against them. Apra was an exception for being an outcast already.
Cont. with individual progress.

During the nightly group time, Apra has been working to learn the group's language, and they hers. In the time since, some of the group quite readily know Forest Speak and everyone at least knows it for basic conversation. Also by now, Faun is more or less fluent with the group's language.
Pips and Uru working together on weapons, were finally able to develop a very primitive flatbow, largely due in part to the flax worked by Faun. Making arrows though is a bigger problem, and so far they have been using basically lengthened darts which aren't accurate past short distance. Actual feathered and stone or bone tipped arrows haven't yet been figured out. Also in their time, they have been making leather, to much use among the group.
Illeo and Apra have been alternating hunting together, between the lake and the woods, with each picking up the others style. They don't particularly bond though because Illeo is frustrated that their gains still go to the oranges.
Rick has been making candles and medicine when not making booze, and has considered reintroducing the religion of the original tribe though he isn't sure if that will take. Also he has considered the idea of group leadership, and if there should be made a leader among them, or if some kind of ruling system should be established. At the very least though he's consistently entertained the group with stories and legends he knows.
Lastly, Faun has realized she is pregnant. She and Uru are giving it some time to make sure the baby continues to develop before they tell the others but they delight in the good news. It comes with a bit of a drawback as well, in that their bond has become so strong that they are tending towards spending all time they can together to the point of slacking off for more time to be with each other. As such, their productivity has decreased. Faun herself as well, is not far enough into her pregnancy where it would otherwise normally hinder her productivity though.

With things as they are, what to do moving forward, a similar amount of time unless specified otherwise?

One of the focuses will be to establish better contact with the other tribes and assess the situation with the oranges, as well as a general group focus towards preparing for combat and conflict.

Tan the leathers blackish-red and attach bone to them to make armour. Make black and white war paint, enough to cover everyone's skin. Practice with weapons constantly.
I'm thinking about getting live fish to farm in our cave pond. is the water in the lake fresh or salty? If the water in our cave is drinkable, then we leave it as is, since fresh water is more valuable than fresh fish.
Make more large wooden spoons that have been fire hardened to toss flaming balls of tree sap and tinder at people. stockpile some firewood and tools to make fires faster.
Go endurance hunting some wild animals farther away to get extreme shape.
I'm sleep now. I think my thinking quality is slipping.

I propose the following plan;
1) We continue to stockpile every resource we can.
2) We teach the crippled man some skills that aren't effected by his disability/ make him feel welcome, see if he has any knowledge we don't.
3) Attempt to improve our boat, continue to develop bows and maybe cultivate more of the fruit.
4) Have the relationship between Pips and Apra consummated by the rights of our old tribe by Rick.
5) Get more wolves, chickens and goats
6) Continue to gather luxuries to sell and to use.
7) Maybe take an entire day off to just relax and enjoy ourselves altogether.
Any other suggestions?
