Split some boards into 2, where one is a random counterpart. Example:

(generals, "serious discussions," redditors)
/tv/ - random
(frogs, waifus, anything vaguely tv related you want to post on a whim)
What other boards with 2 distinct communities need this?
We don't need to make 307 special little snowflake spinoff boards just because you want more.
