Is it possible to fix /v/?
>>
I think so.
>>
>>569029
we have threads like this all the time

problem is nobody is willing to define or even agree on what "fix" actually means

If you mean somehow exponentially increase "quality of discussion" then good luck telling that to all the mouth-breathing shit flingers that currently inhabit the board.
>>
>>569039
"fix" might not be the most accurate word because of anonymity and almost no user accountability.
It would be more about keeping trash and off-topic out. Lenient, but not so much as to be a mess like it currently is.

"controlled chaos" is a better term. Right now it's just chaotic.

Make /vj/

Nuke the board with heavy moderation for a week or so

done
>>
>>569071
That cuts the fire in half and then stocks each fire after the moderation tones down. It isn't a long-term solution.

>It would be more about keeping trash and off-topic out.
>on /v/
Pretty hard thing to do since /v/ was built on off-topic threads.

>since /v/ was built on off-topic threads
No it wasn't.
Look, I guess that being anonymous gives people license to spew all sorts of bullshit but that doesn't mean it is any any way honest nor intellectually honest.

Stop posting shit, tryhard.
>>
/v/ can admit that it's garbage, and when you take a closer look you can see that many people actually do want to talk about video games. You just have to be serious about moderation. The current lazy moderation is unacceptable. It would be difficult, but it's possible.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA no
>>

With that attitude it isn't.

>THICC (various threads that get derailed)
>"which one, /v/?" (Peach and Zelda with soft futa penises)
>"left or right?" (Two Caucasian females, an older teenager and a worn out old hag, both with their buttocks exposed)
>"thoughts?" (Various BLACKED threads)
>"A DEAL'S A DEAL, ANON" (anime nipples meme)
>a certain webm of a man taking a shit on a baby and apparently peeing in its mouth
It's like you've never browsed /v/ a day in your life.

/v/ is not fixable.

It has been a tumor that has been growing worse and worse as time has gone on

many have recognized it and left it years ago. Many others dealt with it. Slowly more newfags filled the place and more of the familiars decided the place wasn't worth dealing with the cancer and moved on.

I, too, wanted to believe in /v/. but it is too late. it is far too late. The last thing to do would be to ask /v/ to close it's eyes and think about the rabbits

>Falseflagging
>Threads treated like teenager chatrooms (basically pointless spam)
>people posting the same thread multiple times a day, causing those threads to stagnate and become full of shitposting.
>General low quality posts because nothing better is expected of them
>Console wars
>Porn
>Cropped porn
>Replies to obvious trolls (bait)

But /v/ can admit that it's bad, and a large number of people do want to talk about games. All that needs to be done is mods and janitors need to be less picky about what should be deleted, and bans need to become easier to acquire. Encourage people to post less and think more.

The average /v/ user is about 14 years old anyway. It would require too much work for too little pay off. /tv/ on the other hand seems to be doing really bad >>569130

there is nothing wrong with porn or cropped porn.

it's just that the board itself makes a big deal out of it because it consists of underage
>>
>>569382
I know very well that most users on /v/ are teenagers. It really shows. I don't think it would be as much work as you think. All the mods need to do is become banhappy when it comes to reports on /v/. As a side note, I believe a board-specific mod position should be on some of the more popular boards. That would cut down on the work the other mods need to to.

>>569386
If you can't see how porn and cropped porn is a problem, then you're a part of the problem on /v/.
