Because fuckers abused it. For example, fuckheads used to try to DDOS by using bots to create threads, add posts to keep them bumped, and automatically delete posts inside of them to prevent the thread from autosaging.
It started when I went through my combofag phase on /b/ way back in 2009. Everytime a combo was broken, I would delete the thread and try again. I did this immediately. It allowed me to try again right away without the post timer.
So yes, I'm actually the one directly responsible for it. You can hate now.
