In Homestuck threads on /co/, on topic, rule abiding posts are being deleted seemingly at random, often with the given reason for deletion being that the posts are "off topic" even though they are discussing the comic, in a thread about the comic, on a board about comics and cartoons. What's the deal?

please just let us have our threads in peace
we're nowhere near breaching containment like /sug/ or fetish-thread level cancer.
>>

Wasnt this the guy who posted the shipping game?
>>
Your threads keep being deleted because they are 24/7 threads for a comic that is no longer running.
>>
>>544789
The comic isn't over, and it's not the threads that are getting deleted, it's posts.
>>
>>544791
The comic is over. Otherwise the threads wouldn't be getting deleted.
>>
>>544792
> it's not the threads that are getting deleted, it's posts
Did you even read
>>
>>544789
Should /v/ threads about old games be banned? Should /tv/ threads about old shows or movies be deleted? Whether or not it's not running anymore is irrelevant as long as you're not breaking any rules. fuck, we're not even posting outside of our single threads that usually last hours. The only way you'd be bothered by it is if you were actively seeking us, in which case you're just asking for it.
>>

>>

that's what /vr/ and /vg/ are for.

/cog/ for capeshit and homestuck?
>>
>>544789
There are plenty of generals for things that aren't running. /co/ mods are just autistic and insta-delete generals for stuff they personally don't like.
>>
I can understand the shipping game, porn and mod bait being deleted, but links to other homestuck material getting deleted seems like it's going too far.
>>
>>544799
Can someone clarify why the shipping game deserves to be deleted?
>>
>>544789
Does this mean /sci/ has to stop talking about scientists that are dead so they can't publish new papers? and /lit/ has to stop talking about books that are out-of-print? Think before you write.

Homestuck threads get an usual amount of attention from janitors, moreso than other /co/ threads. I could understand when it was tripfag shit trying to build fanclubs, but it's citations to the literature and writefags satisfying requests that are getting the hammer.
>>
>>544801
I'd guess it's "quality of posts." Same reason as why "rolling dice on hunger games charts" threads get deleted.
>>
>>544801
not mod, but there's precedent with the hunger games threads. the shipping game doesn't create productive discussion. even classpectposting can lead to oc being created, but the shipping game just results in a bunch of names.

Are there 24/7 threads about the same old game/shows/movies? No? Shut the fuck up.
>>
>>545247
pokemon had 24/7 threads and they got their own board
so you shut the fuck up
>>
>>545256
Pokemon was still going and now they're not there anymore. Whats your point?
>>
>>545342
1. Homestuck is still going
2. Gaps between new homestuck content are shorter than gaps between new pokemon content
3. There is a place on 4chan where people can have 24/7 pokemon threads even when there has not been any new content for months
4. There are no rules against generals or against have 24/7 threads for old games/shows/movies. Mods need to enforce the rules, not just delete whatever they want.
>>
>>545347
homestuck has no time in a supposedly coming encore. No guess is even given at its occurance
>>
>>545350
No worries, we also have hiveswap and homestuck 2.0 and seven years worth of content to talk about and also it doesn't matter a fucking wit when the epilogue comes out, there is no need to justify the threads because they aren't doing anything wrong. Generals are not illegal.
>>
I fucking dare you to go to /a/ and find a single minute when there isn't an Evangelion thread up, or a Fate thread. Even when those shows haven't aired for a year the threads are constant. There's nothing wrong with 24/7 threads, every board has them.
>>
>>545347
>1. Homestuck is still going
No it isn't. Its getting an epilogue [soon]

>2. Gaps between new homestuck content are shorter than gaps between new pokemon content

How? Pokemon has a weekly show, MULTIPLE weekly manga series, soundtrack releases, video game updates

>3. There is a place on 4chan where people can have 24/7 pokemon threads even when there has not been any new content for months
See above

>4. There are no rules against generals or against have 24/7 threads for old games/shows/movies. Mods need to enforce the rules, not just delete whatever they want.

Yes, but it is also a waste of space as most people who discuss the comic have left and all thats there nowadays is general tier trash that should be deleted
>>
>>545364
see >>545351

but if you can't show that it's against the rules then I have no reason to engage with you. You're just bitching about something you don't like for no reason.
>>
>>545365
You're the one bitching about Pokemon having threads even though it has 10x more content than homestuck currently has
>>
>>545366
No, I'm not. I think it's great that Pokemon has threads. I was super into Pokemon. But Homestuck deserves to have threads too, even if whiny little pissbabies like you don't know how to use a filter.
>>
>>545367
>But Homestuck deserves to have threads too,
I didn't say homestuck shouldn't have any threads. I said it should have 24/7 one after another threads

>whiny little pissbabies
Grow the fuck up
>>
>>545369
It doesn't affect you at all if there are 24/7 threads. If you like, we can start making multiple threads like on /a/. A thread for every waifu, if that's what you'd like to see. We'll use their names in the title instead of just naming the thread "homestuck", so that you have to learn all of their names. Won't that be fun?
>>
>>545372
>It doesn't affect you at all if there are 24/7 threads

It affects discussion. Mods will delete any discussion threads as long as a general is up because of the unwritten rule of "You can't have more than one thread if there's a general" and if you're in a general the discussion will last for about three post before it goes back to shitposting. Also stop with the /pol/ tier slippery slope shit. /v/ doesn't have 24/7 generals and theirs not individual threads for each and every waifu every single day of the week.
>>
>>545373
>/v/ doesn't have 24/7 generals
are you seriously this fucking retarded
there's a very good reason why /v/ doesn't have 24/7 generals
>>
>>545376
Yes you dipshit I know full well why. Not everything has a general and that doesn't mean that

If no general = 1mil threads about the same thing.
>>
>>545380
No, but when a topic has gotten popular enough to sustain a 24/7 general, that's exactly what it means.

Look, I agree with you to the extent that mods aren't handling the matter properly. A general being up shouldn't mean that other threads on the same topic get deleted. Homestuck threads and a homestuck general discussion thread should be able to exist concurrently. But the mods won't allow that and they've created this culture so now we'll all just have to deal with it. /co/ wants a homestuck containment thread, so that's what they're getting. You won't be able to convince people to stop talking about something they want to talk about.
>>
>>545351
the homestuck general is illegal though. It was just banned, no comeback clause
>>
>>545631
Then they should make an official rule about it. Deleting threads because of secret rules is no way to run a forum.
>>
>>545635
they did. A mod post is law until a new mod post
>>
>>545637
It's still a secret rule that you won't know about even if you read the rules page.
>>
>>545640
It doesnt' matter. 4chan operates by modposts. Get used to it or leave.
>>
>>545656
Fuck off. You know this is an unreasonable way of running things.
>>
>>545658
that doesn't matter, it IS the way things are run and have been run since 4chan was created, again, leave if you don't like it
>>
>>545660
If something is unreasonable then I'm justified in bitching about it. Get used to that.
>>
>>545658
Common law is an entirely reasonable way of running things.

>It's still a secret rule that you won't know about even if you read the rules page.

You will once your thread is deleted
>>
>>545671
No, because you won't get a warning, and even when you do get a warning, it won't say the reason.
>>
>>545676
"lurk more"
>>
>>545684
look
it's been three years since Homestuck General was soft-banned on /co/, and now the official stance is unclear
clearly homestuck threads are allowed right now, because they've been allowed to exist 24/7 for the past six weeks, with only occasional, arbitrary, seemingly random deletions
lurking more isn't going to clarify the rules for anybody, because the mods are inconsistent about their enforcement and don't give reasons. It's up to them to clarify the rules, either by giving real reasons for deletions or by publicly announcing their policy.
>>
>>545690
"soft-banned"

It was fucking modposted banned as hard as you can.

They even made sure and banned it from [s4s] and /r9k/ and /b/
>>
>>544802
>
>>
>>545693
They banned Homestuck Generals, but apparently that doesn't cover 24/7 Homestuck threads. So basically just the name was banned. Or not? But they let most of the threads stay up. It's pretty ambiguous. But it's also a pretty soft ban.
>>
>>545690
Everyone knows though. They're not even discussing the comic in the current thread thats uop. Why do you want one 24/7 exactly? r/homestuck exists for that exact reason.
>>
>>545698
"Threads" were allowed to continue in the modpost.

Maybe that's why threads get deleted, so they're not 24/7
>>
>>545699
I'm in the thread right now. They're talking about the ending.
>>
>>545701
Yeah, like in the last few posts. The majority of the thread isn't about the comic. Theres no point in directly making another one after this one ends.

dude you're clearly wearing blinders
there were a ton of posts about the ending because liveblogger just finished watching it
and even when we're not talking about the comic itself we're talking about spinoff works, fanart, and our own projects
if /co/ can allow 500-post threads full of nothing but dover boys memes then they can allow threads that actually share and produce content
>>
>>545730
it's the 24/7 blogshit
>>
>>545734
are you just saying random words and hoping that eventually you might make a point or what
>>
>>545736
no I'm saying that it doesn't need a 24/7 general so people can blog about art and their days and how homestuck didn't live up to their unreasonable expectations
>>
>>545741
no I wouldn't say that we need a 24/7 general but there's no reason why we shouldn't have one
people blogging about their day is such a minor infrequent part of the threads that I feel like you have no idea what you're talking about
>>
>>545744
the reason is it's banned because of how off topic and shitty the threads are, you just refuse to see it.

NO! OMG! WHY DID I GET DELETED!
>>
>>545746
