About /news/ and ASCII art

Since /news/ is basically a text board, is ASCII art/SJIS stuff allowed as long as its vaguely on topic? Will I get banned for posting it? Are certain ascii or unicode characters blocked on /news/ like on /qa/ and some other boards ?
Just try it. No big deal if you get banned for a few days.

If I get banned then this thread will get automatically deleted. That wouldn't be very helpful. ;__;
My thoughts on this is that it's not necessarily "news" it's art. Or coding, as Google is telling me about SJIS (I had to look them up). So while I wouldn't say you'd get banned there is a good chance the thread would just get janitor'd away relatively quickly
