These threads are the closest thing /qa/ has to a general thread. Just pointing that out.

And yet, they manage to somehow not be cancer like normal generals.

Generals are not degenerate. They tend to degenerate depending on the subject matter

That's it. Short and sweet and only a hint of /pol/, the way I like my /news/.
>>
>>457730
so you think the picture applies to these threads?
The only times the thread becomes shit is when we engage in petty squabbles, but those are always related to recent events and it's a typical off-topicing, not due to the general format.

As i said, it depends on the subject matter. Usually the problem is "no new content", but some stuff degenerates fast even with new content
>>
>>457749
Sounds like someone needs a case of self-realization. All generals are that picture. It has everything to do with the format. Generals don't fit on 4chan in any way, shape or form and are nothing but cancer. But, I wouldn't expect someone who can't capitalize their fucking I's to be capable of self-reflection.

There isn't a single good general on this site.

>>
>>460122
I personally find the fact the thread is filled with people actually seriously making a big deal out of cp more disgusting than the anon with 50gb of cp. It pales in comparison to half the shit anons used to post. Have we really fallen so low that something as simple as cp makes people freak the fuck out?

We really need anons to go around and flood the entire site with disgusting shit like what used to happen to scare those retards away. It'd be amusing at the very least.
>>
>>460189

>>
>>460194

>>
>>460199
It already works on /f/, newfriend.
>>
>>460198
Protip: raping babies and posting CP are two different things.
>>
>>460203
yes but /f/ works differently, a lot of the traffic on that board comes from newfags since they are the only ones who haven't got tired of all the shit that is constantly reposted there, if they tried to post edgy shit on /v/ all it would do is attract more newfags who would come there for anything but video games
>>
>>460194
It's only edgy if you are new or retarded.

>>460199
/r9k/ is also filled with brain dead retards who come here for actual edge. There is a difference between people flooding with the intent to scare normalfags away and people everyday posting a bunch of threads and posts with disgusting shit that isn't filterable and forcing it into your view until you either leave or get desensitized.
>>
>>460122

>There is a difference between people flooding with the intent to scare normalfags away and people everyday posting a bunch of threads and posts with disgusting shit that isn't filterable and forcing it into your view until you either leave or get desensitized.
In other words, stop posting what i don't want to see, if i say its cancer it is cancer, there is no way my point of view might be wrong

Also you're assuming all the oversensitive people here are newfags, you don't need to be new to be a faggot towards this kind of shit, i've seen people on this website who claimed to be here for years yet they still lost their collective shit to extremely dumb shit, if your idea of "organized shitposting" was put on action all it would do is shit up the board for a few days before everything going back to normal, worst case scenario, a bigger influx of newfags would come because "lol 4chan is so crazy"

This just made me realize I love going into various /int/ generals and trying to converse with them with google translate. Which is hilarious.
>>

It's just one /a/ mod who really seems to love moving threads. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy who keeps moving touhou threads from /v/ to /jp/.

Its mostly because of the artstyle itself, its like with monstergirls, they always look a lot better with western artstyles either because of the simple shapes or more detailed/realistic looks who properly balance both elements, the anime artstyle just sucks ass when it comes to anything out of the ordinary, and since its so popular its near impossible to come up with anything that doesn't look like a copy of something else that has been done in the past, its really fucking hard to not drawn something that looks like barbie dolls

While the MG discussion has been off topic it hasn't been that disruptive. It's only 36 post over 2 days. At least it kept the thread bumped. Bringing up contentious issues about how 4chan should be run usually results in hundreds of posts within hours which is why it's discouraged in these threads.

bullshit, /a/ self moderated fairly well up to 2013. Hell, even nowadays it still holds up decently thanks to the fact that there´s new content every season. the quality of the board has undeniably worsen in the last years, but the same could be said about any other board. I still have hope
>>
>>462087
wwwwwwwwwww nah
By then it had already been infested by tumblr, with the shitty deviantart generals and /jp/-reject shit flooding the front page, not to mention everyone getting ultra triggered. As shit as it was when tripfags Taiga, Stein, Manko and so on were circlejerking 24/7 at least the userbase was far less cancerous.

We've got to the point that sage was removed and people actually are allowed to post Naruto. Don't be delusional.
>>
>>462091
your extensive use of buzzwords, boogeymans and the fact that you are talking about tripfags while using a trip (Unless you have a fair reason to use it, which I doubt), you make me value your post less. yet I know you are in part right. I still think that the board has a chance to improve. Not like I have another place to go.
> Don't be delusional.

/a/ was still fine all up until 2013, anon. It's getting really worse recently as it is very clear all the mods that actually cared about /a/ are gone. The only ones left seem to be that one retard cancerous you retard who is shitting up the board and is encouraging everything that is the problem. And probably a few /co/ mods as well. The only reason I can think of why they even bother moderating /a/ is because they might fear if they stop the board might actually revolt (doubt).

The mods are the moment are pretty much the major cause of problems since any action that tries to solve these problems are faced with range bans. I actually wish Hiro wasn't so dead.

dunno m8, your board doesn't seem to be really useful. not even a /pol/ hater, but this is your catalog. I bet 5 bucks that 7 or 8 of those threads were made on /pol/ more o less at the same time. what purpose does your board really fulfill? slow, worksafe /pol/? and no, I´m not saying you should ban those threads.
>>
>>462455
Not the same guy but you're acting like we can't have two news boards, even if your assumptions are right and those people are from /pol/ or are just shitposting, it doesn't mean the /news/ userbase is going to be the same, some people are perfectly capable of simply ignoring shit like this since it doesn't appeal to them, and as long as the "/pol/ shit" isn't keeping people from discussing other things its fine, hell, i wouldn't be surprised if people from /pol/ came to /news/ because they want a place smaller and without half of the bullshit
>>
>>462455
This post is exactly the problem with /qa/: too many people with an opinion about boards they never browse based on that their preconceptions filling in what they can't learn be bothered to learn from lurking more and skimming the catalog. You know how I know you don't ever go to /news/? Because /pol/ gets BTFO every day there but you talk like one of the idiots who still thinks it's /pol2/ because '/pol/ sucks lol' or something.

>doesn't seem to be really useful
useful for whom? I think it's useful as fuck. Have you even seen our personal /news/ aggregator? do you even browse /news/?

One of the good things about /news/ is the mix of /pol/ and not-/pol/ bringing in sources for current events beyond people's usual circlejerk RSS feeds. Politics and partisanship are allowed but aren't the point. Competing confirmation bias is not necessarily a bad thing if it gets to the truth of a situation.

Is there shitposting? Of course. I'm not saying there isn't. But it isn't at a level that you wouldn't see on another board of similar size and speed, like /trv/ for instance. And yes I'm fucking defensive about /news/ because I'm sick of seeing faggots like you conflate it with /pol/ simply because you looked at the catalog and saw something provocative.

And I actually agree with what you say. but Hiro had 1000 fucking things to change before creating new boards. And surprise surprise, some of those new boards created more problems. I´m sure /trash/ was pushed by the mods after the /aco/-/d/ fiasco, so that they could dump shit on it without posters complaining too much (funnily enough, /trash/ could have been an bizarre yet interesting board where you could discuss literally everything if it wasn´t a porn and SU generals dumping ground).
Maybe I´m just mad that Hiro listengs only when an autistic faggot asks for a board. what about board designated mods? for fucking years shit like >>462096 mentioned has polluted various boards, yet here we are, with no solutions

m8, shit like this happens since the moot days, i can guarantee you that if boards like /c/, /cm/, /e/, /hc/ and /hm/ were created today they would be saw as useless and unnecessary , while boards like /d/ and /lgbt/ would be saw as containment boards, even if Hiro had other shit to worry about the new boards he created aren't so bad outside a few flaws here and there

>funnily enough, /trash/ could have been an bizarre yet interesting board where you could discuss literally everything if it wasn´t a porn and SU generals dumping ground
You just missed the whole point of a board literally named trash, its supposed to hold all the cancer that isn't against the rules yet nobody wants around, /trash/ having any kind of standards wouldn't make any sense and would just turn the board into another /b/ or /s4s/

>what about board designated mods?
Even if the system isn't perfect right now designated mods wouldn't help, all it would do is create issues with smaller boards where there are less mods, remember that many of the mods we have here used to be just anons at some point, and many of them might end up being biased and having personal vendettas against certain things (after all not everything in a board will always appeal to you) and create the same issue many forums have, power hungry mods who don't know how to deal with power and authority, having someone from the outside to decide if that is cancer or not helps since said person isn't going to be influenced by board culture, but like i said, the system isn't perfect like it is
>>
>>462525
>m8, shit like this happens since the moot days, i can guarantee you that if boards like /c/, /cm/, /e/, /hc/ and /hm/ were created today they would be saw as useless and unnecessary , while boards like /d/ and /lgbt/ would be saw as containment boards, even if Hiro had other shit to worry about the new boards he created aren't so bad outside a few flaws here and there
I still think that he should worry about other things first. more boards create more issues
>You just missed the whole point of a board literally named trash, its supposed to hold all the cancer that isn't against the rules yet nobody wants around, /trash/ having any kind of standards wouldn't make any sense and would just turn the board into another /b/ or /s4s/
If you don´t want shit around, you don´t keep it in a board at all. you delete it. As I have already said, it seems more like an excuse so the mods don´t have to deal with angry shitposters while telling them
>yeah, you can´t do this, but we will give you a board where you can do it anyways
>and create the same issue many forums have, power hungry mods who don't know how to deal with power and authority
you mean like we have right now?
>Even if the system isn't perfect right now designated mods wouldn't help, all it would do is create issues with smaller boards where there are less mods
>having someone from the outside to decide if that is cancer or not helps since said person isn't going to be influenced by board culture, but like i said, the system isn't perfect like it is
And what if that person just wants to impose their totally unasked and unrelated standards to a board they don´t know shit about? board culture has good and bad things, I admit, but dismissing it completely is simply stupid.
>>
>>462547
>If you don´t want shit around, you don´t keep it in a board at all. you delete it
Yes but just because something is shit for you it doesn't mean its shit for everybody else, do you want a good example of what i mean?

/co/ has a rule against generals being made when a show is ever over or on hiatus, and both /gfg/ and /sug/ are shitty generals with barely any discussion and shitloads of shitposting, back in the day they weren't deleted because they weren't against the rules (if other cartoons can do it, why can't they? Why would other generals be allowed but not these?), but after SU went on hiatus and GF was over, they started getting deleted for obvious reasons, yet, the fans are so autistic they continued to make stealth threads all the time so they could discuss the show (which ended up just being shitposting as always), so an easier solution to this issue was moving both /sug/ and /gfg/ to /trash/ where the fans can be autistic cancer as much as they want without shitting up the rest of the board, and guess what? they don't give a shit, they are just happy they can make their threads, specially now that they can post porn too, shitposters can have their fun until it dies down, and mods don't need to worry about stealth threads, everybody is happy, nothing of value was lost

>you mean like we have right now?
Pretty much, but it would be a lot worse than it already is
>And what if that person just wants to impose their totally unasked and unrelated standards to a board they don´t know shit about?
That depends of the context, having a "referee" unaware of memes and shitposting and who doesn't play for none of the sides can be good on certain situations, like i said, the system we have now is not perfect, but what you're suggesting would just create more issues while trying to solve the ones we already have
>>
>>462564
Won´t the upraded form of SU shitposting from /trash/ flood /co/ when the show starts the new season? as you picture it, I can´t help but imagine how instead of moving aside a rotten apple from the basket you are just coating it in shit and AIDS only to put it back in the basket in a few days
>That depends of the context, having a "referee" unaware of memes and shitposting and who doesn't play for none of the sides can be good on certain situations, like i said, the system we have now is not perfect, but what you're suggesting would just create more issues while trying to solve the ones we already have

Nah, what makes these fandoms bad is how obnoxious and loud they can be (kinda like ponyfags before /mlp/), when they come back they will just do what they always did, shitpost about waifus, "muh deepest lore", blogposting, etc etc, outside /trash/ all those fandoms are the cancer, the outsiders of their own respective boards, inside /trash/, however, they are just roommates having a good time

I don't really browse /sp/ anymore I just know the threads I'm looking for so he may still do it there but he used to do it in gamethreads for huge games where there would be 20+ posts a minute just to make sure he was getting the most views. also any thread that was mildly off topic and it was always the same webms, or at least the same thumbnails

browsing /tv/ and I saw a few of them today, except he changed the thumbnail to be a girl and after 5 seconds of the webm it changes to cp. the last thread I saw it in was off topic I guess. it was a naked girl with black bars on the pic to make it SFW.

tl;dr he's an attention whoring faggot that might think its some form of self moderation. the posts always get deleted within a minute though
