I think /tv/ is getting a little out of hand with Star Wars threads. Remember how /v/ used to be filled with Pokemon threads and made a containment board just for Pokemon? I think its actually way worse than that. it definitely needs an actual separate board for everything Star Wars related.

I also made a poll here to see if anyone would be interested in a Star Wars board. Also, there will be a new Star Wars movie every year too so this is only just the beginning.

Is there a word for it...what about /tvmf/ for major franchises?

/tv/ is then a place for and non sequels/reboots

You need to define a major franchise:

>Studio machine
>Multiple sequels/remakes
>Attempt at cinematic or television universe

Easy enough distinction Disney-Marvel, Disney-Lucasfilm, Harry Potter, DC etc...both TV and film

Still a place for mainstream TV and blockbusters on /tv/ but the tricky thing is for TV phenomena such as GOT or Breaking Bad...I say it qualifies as /tv/ because it hasn't yet been remade or franchised out enough (GOT only having other media and BB only having BCS)

I get what you mean.

But, Star Wars has just grossed the most movie sales in the history of the world. It just sunk the Titanic sales. And every movie every year it's going to get fucking crazy on 4chan with Star Wars post. Marvel, Harry Potter and the DC franchise got jack shit on Star Wars. It's the most popular franchise ever. And we need a containment board for it.
