I used to be like you, I was convinced that I would move to another country after I graduated. To be honest though I only wanted to move because I hated the way my own life going and I just wanted an easy way out. I've made several bike/backpack tours through Russia. People are very friendly and nobody even tried to steal my 3000$ bike while in Germany it would be gone in a minute. If you go first time it's great to do so with some locals. I made the Golden Ring of Russia tour with the Russian Cycle Touring Club. Google it.
