I'm taking a mandatory critical thinking class and one of our upcoming assignments is a debate. Where can I get good info on the following topics that won't label me as a racist?
Democratic Socialism - I am picking con for this topic. My only argument is that socialism has literally never worked. I expect a lot of bern victims in my class so I can't go full Trump
Minimum wages do more good than harm - I am picking con. My only argument against this is that minimum wage jobs aren't meant to make you rich. Are there any better factual arguments I could make?
Decriminalizing all recreational drug use - I want to pick con but I literally cannot think of anything negative about a common recreational drug like marijuana (without getting called some form of racist)
Trump's wall is a good idea - I really, really, really, want to argue this but again, I'll probably be called a racist.
Free college is a good thing - I want to argue against this but my argument will probably fall on deaf ears.

Socialism- Requires state ownership of companies and/or more regulations which will damage the economy as American companies and small shops will suffer due to new cadences of operations.
Minimum Wage-Higher wages mean less people will be hired and inflation.
Drugs-Cartels will not go away, they will return to other ways of making money such as human trafficking and loan sharking.
Trumps wall- It doesn't need to be a wall, but rather better border control laws.
College- Countries like Japan have the issue of an over educated populace and aging workforce in non extended educated required jobs such as trade. Immigrants can't fix this because most middle class immigrants are not up to leaving there own country. The only ones willing to are ultra rich or ultra poor. Or you could say America already has tons of college educated unemployed, so what makes college so important at this point.

There is a distinction between "Socialism" and "Democratic Socialism". They're as different as "malt whiskey" is from "malt bread".
Socialism is the egalitarian commitment to the "common ownership of the means of production". Democratic Socialism has NO SUCH COMMITMENT. Democratic Socialists do not have an ideological opposition to market economics, they believe in "mixed economy" and dirigiste policies to guide an economy. They do not believe in government control of production. Democratic Socialists believe it is the role of the State to provide services such as education, health care, infrastructure, defense, etc...

If you had a company running and your neighbor started creating a company in the same field, but couldn't afford your wages just yet because of scale economy, and you had a politician in your pocket, the first thing you'd do is ask him to raise minimum wage to get rid of growing competition before they can actually afford your wages.
Minimum wage kills competition and is corporation's best friend. Companies need to grow in order to become efficient and anything that blocks their growth puts a dent on economic and salaries growth.
