AI has taken over. Censoring written word and image/video is trivial now. It's not just a matter of site operators 'deleting' content. Negative feedback can be generated in huge volume in a believable way with AI in order to turn people off to certain ideas.
People have the instinct to try to fit in. Their opinions in the moment can be and very often are influenced by simple expressions of opinion like a one-sentence comment, especially if there are many such comments all agreeing.
This is the cutting edge of the media. Instead of just presenting ideas and implying their popularity, the ideas can be presented and the appearance of their popularity can not just be implied, but asserted with fabricated evidence. The fact that people emotionally identify with expressions as simple as snippets of text is being exploited to gain a great amount of leverage in influencing their minds.
It's as simple as this: people see that they can post anything they want online, they see their expression appear in the public setting, they see people they know respond, and can respond in turn.
This builds the very deep expectation that anything they see in the same place or in a similar place was made by a person more or less like them.
But it's not necessarily true in every case.
The implications of AI in society are complex. Basically, anyone who has enough computing resources can influence public opinion through the internet in an extremely powerful way that exceeds any other technique in history by far.
How can you deny that this is at very least a possibility? The technology and resources have existed for a long time and such practices would be extremely profitable. There is no possible argument against these facts.
Basically the internet has turned into and is becoming more so a thought feedback machine that puts down "unpopular" ideas and shoves them to places with no audience.
>>
Let me just summarily counter some obvious objections:
1 The straw-man examples that microsoft has been advertising and posting all over the internet (especially on 4chan) of the "nazi chatbot" and "pretty awful image interpreter" will be cited. "THE CUTTING EDGE IS NOT THAT SHARP" they will say. These examples are not the cutting edge. These are toy versions of the real thing that are allotted a trivial amount of computing power and opened up to the public to guide their perceptions of the state of the art.
The examples brought forth by universities are more on par, but their funding and resources are astronomically outweighed by those of private business and government. You have to take that into account when estimating the state of the art.
>>
2) CAPTCHA etc. are easily solved with computing power that is not expensive for large companies OR governments. CAPTCHA etc. serve only to prevent people with less computing power from doing the same thing as people with more computing power. Such controls are generated algorithmically and can be partially cracked algorithmically and then the results in specific cases can be analyzed with AI to come up with an approximate solution that is likely to be correct.
3) The most obvious path to refutation (what the shills would say first) would be "people think for themselves they are very smart!!!!!!!"
Maybe in isolation, but it takes a strong will to go against the grain.
We all want to fit in and will go to great lengths to do so.
If you really want to make a place for yourself, you need to know when to say 'when'.
>from Men in Black (1997)
>Edwards: Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it.
>Kay: A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.
You know it.
This point is the razor. Some people will delude themselves, some people will admit their own flaws. Any ideas on how to get around this problem are absolutely critical to the spread of the truth. So if you can, make a point of expressing your thoughts on this problem!

I guess pol is too stupid to have this discussion

There are too many porn threads and girl clickbait threads for anybody to have a reasonable discussion on here right now.

Okay, I'll bite.

I would argue that the Internet is collapsing due to an explosion of ideas and not because of censorship.

There is so much content on the internet that it would take several lifetimes to even scratch the surface.

I've been using the Internet for over 20 years. I feel as though I've inhaled the essence of the Internet, so to speak.

I can never look at all the content it has to offer, but I've been using it for so long, and I've seen so much, and I've seen so many changes to it, that I feel as though that's the best I can do.

No human will ever be able to process all the information the Internet has to offer, but we don't need to.

>>71388993
And your point is?
I mean great, but this isn't very conducive to discussion.
If what you say is true then it's fucked anyway, if not then it's just tinfoil.

As Trump apparently coming from out of nowhere demonstrates, the tailors of the emperor's latest new clothes do not have the control that they think they have.

Kojima predicted this.

He was trying to warn us about the jew in 2002.

You make good points. It sounds believable, I don't doubt it could happen or is happening.
My thoughts?
Most people are stupid in my opinion, and experience. Even I am not very smart in my own eyes. They crave primal satisfaction, and not many of them can think ahead much. Lots of regular people I meet nowadays are social animals with very low skills with respect to deeper, more human thinking rather than reactionary decisions like that of "lower"animals.
That's why people are c shitposting instead of making actual discussion.
>>
probably just that its cluttered full of normies now that everyone can access the internet on their smartphones, thats why its drastically more stupid
>>
>>71390601
It's not a discussion you faggot. It's a reddit tier whine. An extremely boring whine at that.

"extremely"....."extremely powerful"

lol, fuck outta here scrub. You knew this a decade ago.

Now, is there anything we can do? As regular people aspire to be above the rest. Set abb example, be a role model etc.
We could also try to act quickly and radically change society.
Most likely, the world will become more and more Orwellian and there may be people remaining who wish to subvert the regime in any way. How these people could succeed is uncertain.
Learn more, educate yourself. Be able to survive in the wild, learn useful skills. Hold on to your weapons, folks. Keep them hidden.
You might be of use someday.
>>
>>71388993

also I'd quite like people to stop calling basic chatbots "AI", you don't need anything that sophisticated to spam comments and they literally get kids in internet cafes in shitholes like india and china to solve captchas kek
>>
How much information could the most powerful computers in the world possibly sort? Even the most efficient sorting algorithm is order log(n), and the surface internet is measured in millions of terabytes of information.

And that's just sorting, any significant AI would have to do more than just search for "problematic phrases", making any attempt at true censorship daunting to the point that it's impossible.

And that's not counting the deep web, we're talking hundreds of exabytes of information needing to be processed by an AI.

OP is dumb.

There is nothing left to discover. Everything is majorly centralized in less than a handful of sites. Everything important is equally dust in the wind with everything that isn't.
