This was in Canada but it happened to me the other day and I think it belongs here.
So I'm was walking down the street at about 9:00 pm and ahead of me is a black man in a suit with wheeled luggage standing on the sidewalk facing the road. The walking path is fairly narrow but he's close to the edge so there's plenty of room to walk behind him. He turns around and put his arm out, blocking my path. In broken English with an African Mr. Eko accent he says "excuse me sir, you must go around." Confused, I reply "what?" He nods to the street and repeats "please go around." There's no cars and it's the middle of the night so I just shrug and walk onto the street bike path then back to the sidewalk around him. He says "thank you sir" and goes back to staring at nothing. I assume he was waiting for the cab. It was just a pretty strange experience.

A couple months later, he was on the front page of our city newspaper. He murdered his mother's 85 year old neighbor and stole her jewelry for crack money.
The most bizarre thing about him was that he came from a wealthy black family. His brother, for example, is team doctor for the New Orleans Saints. Just goes to show that nurture only goes so far.

Even when they weren't trying to get hit but just wanted a ride they would walk out in front of my car to force me to stop in the middle of traffic and pick them up. It didn't matter to them that I already had a customer, they felt that they were entitled to a ride. Always keep the doors locked when driving a cab, because people will try to force themselves in, and a few times they tried to physically remove my passenger.
The best thing I can say about them is that none of them ever puked in my cab. That's a strictly white thing in my experience.
