Well, the rural areas won't be contaminated, but the problem is that the biggest cities have most of the people and thus most of the political influence. The cityfolk want their technicolor dream while the rural people couldn't care less as they are not affected and thus do nothing to stop it.
So the only white outcome here is an uprising and swedes are too cucked now to manage that. Even while Stockholm and Göteborg are already in flames.

Picture related. It's the prerequisite for not failing as a state. You can ask Israel about it's effectiveness.

Also Nth for the Greater Syria!

UN worried about situation in Yarmouk refugee camp

The UN agency tasked with looking after Palestinian refugees has expressed concern about the “worrying humanitarian situation” in Yarmouk refugee camp on the outskirts of Damascus, QudsNet reported on Friday.

“There is a degree of calm for the third day since the outbreak of violence at Yarmouk on 6 April,” said UNRWA spokesman Sami Mshasha. “Nevertheless, residents are still besieged and the humanitarian situation is very difficult.” He pointed out that it is necessary for armed clashes to stop in order to aid agencies to have safe access to the refugees trapped in the camp.

“UNRWA is concerned about reports of the lack of clean drinking water at a time of increasing drought and no operational sewage network,” said Mshasha in a press statement. “This presents the threat of dangerous health problems.”

The UNRWA official explained that the last food distribution took place in Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm areas within the camp between 9 and 15 March. “We received reports about civilians seeking refuge in Yalda last week, but it is impossible to reach them to check their health.”

UNRWA hopes to resume food distribution and mobile healthcare services soon. “We are monitoring the situation closely and demand the end of armed clashes, as well as the protection of civilians in Yarmouk and across Syria,” added Mshasha.

What’s Left of Palmyra — and Syria

By pouring weapons and money into the Syrian war, the West and its Gulf state allies share in the guilt for the Islamic State’s partial destruction of Palmyra’s historic ruins, which Jeff Klein visited.

ISIS/Daesh is on the retreat in Syria, which is very good news for the people of that beleaguered country and for the world. But the Syrian tragedy is far from over and rebuilding the country, even under the best circumstances of an end to the war, will take many years.

Our little international delegation — we were two Americans, a Canadian, two Norwegians, a Palestinian from Jordan and another Palestinian from Lebanon — got to see the evidence for this first-hand, along with the horrific devastation left in the wake of the ISIS occupation of the world-famous ancient city of Palmyra and the neighboring Syrian town of Tadmor.

The tour was arranged and led by a Palestinian organization based in Australia that is very supportive of the Syrian government and it was facilitated by the Syrian Ministry of Tourism and other government agencies.

Kurds hold talks to end fighting with SAA

Syrian regime officials and Kurdish representatives were to meet on Saturday for a second day of talks on ending deadly clashes in the northeastern city of Qamishli, a senior security source said.

A truce agreed on Friday held through the night, an AFP correspondent reported, and no gunfire was heard in the mainly Kurdish city, where control is split between Kurdish militia and the Syrian army and its allies.

The army and the Kurds have coordinated on security in Hasakeh province against Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists, but tensions have built up between the sometimes rival authorities.

The fighting in Qamishli began on Wednesday with a scuffle at a checkpoint and was a rare outbreak of violence between the two sides.

According to the Kurdish security forces, the three days of fighting have left 17 civilians, 10 Kurdish fighters, and 31 troops and allied militiamen dead.

"There will be a new meeting today (Saturday) at Qamishli airport," a senior security source in Damascus told AFP.

"They will discuss several points, including an exchange of fighters held by each side and the Kurds handing back control of the neighborhoods they took from the regime," the source said.

On Saturday morning, there were fewer fighters from either side on the streets. Even checkpoints that had been erected during the fighting had been taken down overnight.

The army and its militia ally, the National Defense Forces, control Qamishli airport and parts of the city, as well as parts of the provincial capital Hasakeh to the south.

Nearly all of the rest of the province is controlled by the People's Protection Units (YPG), who have declared an autonomous region across the mainly Kurdish northern areas they control.

The YPG is regarded by the Pentagon as the most effective fighting force on the ground in Syria against ISIS.

Russian Military Buildup Near Aleppo, Syria, Threatens Truce, Kerry Warns

Secretary of State John Kerry said Friday that Russia had moved heavy artillery into position outside Aleppo in northern Syria, raising new concerns that a partial cease-fire will come undone.

After the main opposition coalition walked out, Staffan de Mistura, the United Nations special envoy for Syria, said the fragile truce was “in great trouble if we don’t act quickly.”

Kerry said he was not certain if Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin was sincere in his stated aims for the buildup: combating terrorism.

“We are not going to sit there and let him do his thing supporting the regime and hammer at the opposition and say, ‘This is working,’ ” Mr. Kerry said. “Obviously, we’re not stupid about it.”

Mr. Kerry said that the Russians might be moving on Aleppo because members of the Al Nusra Front, an affiliate of Al Qaeda, were mixed throughout parts of the region, and that they were terrorists not party to the cease-fire. At the same time, he said, the region is home to insurgent groups that oppose Mr. Assad and have agreed to the cease-fire.

“That has proven harder to separate them than we thought,” Mr. Kerry said. “And there’s a Russian impatience and a regime impatience with the terrorists who are behaving like terrorists and laying siege to places on their side and killing people.”

“The administration can let the Russians try to blast their way out of it, but the Russians blasting their way out it exacerbates the migrant crisis,” Mr. Tabler said. “The Russian activities are expelling people out of the country. Russia plays the role of arsonist and firefighter.”

Jihadi black market: ISIS smuggles ‘blood artifacts’ out of Syria to buyers in US, Europe

Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) is selling antiquities looted from Syria to buyers in the US and Europe as a means of funding its terrorist activities.

The jihadists are transporting the artifacts out of the country via Turkey according to documents from IS’s Ministry of Natural Resources, obtained exclusively by an RT documentary crew.

Middlemen have told the center that buyers are coming from the US and Europe – but they haven’t documented the final buyers.

special hearing held by the US House Financial Services Committee’s Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing this week.

The hearing, entitled “Preventing Cultural Genocide: Countering the Plunder and Sale of Priceless Cultural Antiquities by ISIS” identified collectors from Europe and the US as the top buyers of the ancient relics.

“The trade’s main target buyers are, ironically, history enthusiasts and art aficionados in the United States and Europe – representatives of the Western societies which ISIS has pledged to destroy,” Fanusie testified.

Dr. Patty Gerstenblith, pointed out a major loophole in the system.

“At the moment it’s not illegal, or not necessarily clearly illegal, to bring antiquities from Syria into the United States; they’ve not been included in the OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions and there’s no general legal principle,” she testified.

The US Congress has voted to ban imports of practically all ancient art and artifacts from Syria in an effort to discourage the illicit trade by ISIS and other jihadist groups, but the bill still needs to be signed into law by President Barack Obama.

IS currently controls 4,000 archeological sites in Syria alone and is believed to have made millions of dollars through looting the related artifacts.

Iran says Islamic State hatching plots against it from Raqqa

An Iranian minister said on Saturday that Islamic State has been hatching "plots and conspiracies" against Iran from its de facto capital Raqqa in Syria and has made several attempts to send "terrorist teams" into Iran.

Intelligence minister Mahmoud Alavi said in an interview with Lebanese television station al-Mayadeen that if Iran had not fought terrorism in Syria and Iraq it would have had to do so in Iran, justifying its continued role in the Syria conflict as a matter of national security.

if he wins the referendum there is no stopping him ever again, he will stay as the president until he dies or until army intervenes again

ISIS suicide bomber kills senior rebel commander deep inside Idlib province

According to rebel sources in Idlib, the attack which was conducted by a motorcycle rider who had his vehicle packed with explosives, thus killing a senior military commander of the Ahrar al-Sham rebel group, Abu Hussein

This attack comes as the commander-in-chief of the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Coastal Division was assasinated by unknown gunmen just three days ago in Jisr al-Shighour, Idlib. Meanwhile, new reports suggest that hundreds (possibly thousands) of ISIS sympathisers are currently operating undercover in Idlib. In January, ISIS sympathisers (likely fighters) also executed another Ahrar al-Sham commander Abdul Qadir Dhabaan while killing the local sharia judge Safar Al-Safer in the town of Khan Assubul.

Merkel pushes for 'special security zones in Syria'
Angela Merkel has announced she is pushing "for the establishment of special security zones in Syria" to be set up near the border with Turkey so that refugees have somewhere where they can find shelter.

Speaking at a press conference today the German Chancellor said: "I have ... again demanded that we have zones where the ceasefire is particularly enforced and where a significant level of security can be guaranteed."

Turkey will take all measures to stop rocket fire on border town: PM

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Saturday all necessary measures will be taken to prevent missile fire in Kilis, a Turkish town bordering a region controlled by Islamic State militants in Syria.

Kilis has repeatedly come under rocket fire in recent weeks. On Friday, two people died and four were injured in such an incident.

N Korea launches ballistic missile from submarine – Seoul

North Korea has conducted its third submarine ballistic missile firing, Yonhap news agency reports, citing the South Korean military. There has been no immediate report on whether the launch was successful.

A submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) was fired Saturday from the Sea of Japan (also known as East Sea) water zone in the open sea direction at about 6:30 p.m. local time (0930 GMT), Seoul’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.

The missile flew “for a few minutes,” Yonhap agency said, citing a military source.

Seoul believes the missile launch was made to make a point in the wake of a key 7th meeting of North Korea Workers' Party in May. A congress of the ruling party has been summoned for the first time in 36 years.

No chance of NATO expansion for years of fears it could destabilize Russia.

There is no chance of NATO expansion in the near future because of fears it could destabilize Russia, the U.S. ambassador to the military alliance said on Friday, a prospect which could disappoint Georgia and a number of Balkan states.

Douglas Lute said NATO was at an "an inflection point", facing an upheaval matched only by circumstances at the end of the Cold War, and the alliance did not want to exacerbate internal weaknesses in Russia.

"In practical terms I don't there's much additional room in the near term, the next several years perhaps or maybe even longer, for additional NATO expansion," Lute told the Aspen Security Forum in London.

"I think Russia plays an important part in the strategic environment and the strategic environment will put a brake on NATO expansion.

"If you accept the premises ... about Russia's internal weakness and perhaps steady decline, it may not make sense to push further now and maybe accelerate or destabilize that decline."

Last December, NATO invited Montenegro to join in its first expansion since 2009, a move which provoked anger from Moscow which opposes any extension to former communist areas of eastern and southeastern Europe.

NATO gave Georgia an open-ended promise of membership at a summit in April 2008 and other Balkan states such as Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are keen on membership while Ukraine, which has battled Russian-backed separatists in its east since 2014, has also set its sights on joining.

Lute said the policy line for additional members remained open but all NATO's 28 allies had to agree on inviting new members and there was little likelihood of that.

"There's no way we're going to get consensus any time in the near future on adding ... Georgia or Ukraine," he said.

Merkel confirms Turkish visa liberalisation from end of July

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): "We have set the liberalisation of visas from the end of July, as a part of the agreement. We have said that, of course, Turkey must reach the conditions. There are still two projects that must be implemented and we have, today, spoken about a certain aspect of this. The Commission will set out a report on this on 4th May. And I have the intention that we will continue with the agreement, provided, of course, that Turkey delivers on the agreed points and we are in close contact - the Commission is in close contact, but also Germany is as well. Our interior ministers are in close contact because we are also, of course, often discussing our concerns and fears with each other. We, on the one hand, want guarantees of security and, on the other side, comply with this commitment to visa liberalisation."

SOT, Angela Merkel, German Chancellor (German): "Things cannot continue as they are today in Syria. And, therefore, the opposition must also, of course, be a part of these talks so that clear changes can be put in place in Syria. Otherwise, there will not be any peace there. Germany is there with those who are advocating for this peace and we have a very close cooperation between Russia and the USA. We have a lot of agents who are playing roles and the talks are complicated but we're doing all we can to bring them forward."

>B-But the YPG would've lost Kobani if it hadn't been for the air strikes
you could argue that, but the primary reason for why the Kurds took Kobani was because Peshmerga came to the rescue and flooded in from the Turkish border.
if you want to blame someone for creating Rojava, don't blame the US airstrikes. Russia makes more airstrikes in one day the the US coalition does in 2 weeks. blame the Turks for letting Peshmerga into Kobani.

It wouldn't have made a difference other than delaying the inevitable. Quit spinning this narrative that the kurds are great. The Air strikes are what changed the conflict.

>if you want to blame someone for creating Rojava, don't blame the US airstrikes. Russia makes more airstrikes in one day the the US coalition does in 2 weeks. blame the Turks for letting Peshmerga into Kobani.

WHat the hell are you taking? The Russian air strikes have been used to help the SAA the most. They are done on both the FSA and the Islamic state. Coalition air strikes are almost purely Islamic state; Coalition isn't going to save the Syrian Government, they want to see it collapse so they can have their puppet leader installed.

>>
>>71868592
Urban warfare is shit in somewhat densely populated areas. And they receive humanitarian aid. As for ammunition there's barely any clashes, all the rebels ever do there is shell government-controlled areas from time to time and smuggle them via tunnels.
>>
>>71868671
So what are you telling me exactly, i dont get it. Are you telling me the ypg who was getting rekt for over a month with a couple airstrikes in their favor, would have magically go BOOM BOOM and capture all that land??

I saw a Turkish video (not have it) in a pkk guy fighting there said that if it wasnt for americas help they would still be fighting against isis in kobane. Its really as simple as that, i dont know why people keep thinking its any different.
>>
>>71868592

Urban warfare sucks dick. It took forever at Stalingrad. It took forever at Fallujah, and it still takes forever today. There are so many places to hide, so many places to set traps, so many places where you can hide supply caches in advance in case you want them later. And worst of all, you can't just bomb the whole thing (usually).
>>
>>71868592
Un supplies tunnels, and the fact that their positions are well entrenched along with good geography on their side.
>>
>>71868592
Fighting an enemy that is surrounded and entrenched is incredibly difficult, add to the fact that the fighting is in urban makes it that much worse. You have to consider that the Iraqi army has frequently engaged in this warfare and it takes weeks and months just to clear out those areas. It's not worth it nor strategically required for the SAA to engage in this warfare. Once more of Idlib, Aleppo, Raqqa, hasaka, and Deir is captured, then it will be a requirement to clear out those pockets. You ha e to consider that a surrounded foe has nothing to lose and will fight with all of their might and when your foe fights this way, your own troops are in greater danger of being injured and dying in combat.

Wow, a slaughter of rats is happening at Aleppo City. Nusra/FSA try to infiltrate inside of a SAA-hold area and they get #REKT

Do the FSA still have a chance or are they pretty much done?
>>
>>71872972

Pretty much done, thanks to Russia, they have been degraded to the point that they are the same as Al-Qaeda, because nobody knows who are the real FSA anymore.
>>
>>71872972
All they can do at this point is be a bitch and torment SAA so they can't devote fully to blowing ISIS the fuck out.
>>
>>71872972

I think they're done. I'm basing this on the fact that the media is no longer shilling for the FSA and rather are shilling for the YPG instead.
>>
>>71872972
There is no hope for them. Islamic state and SAA are killing them off slowly; along with that al-nusra has the moderate factions by the testicles. The only hope for the FSA(the moderate factions) is accept whatever reparations and political reforms the Assad government will offer. From there, have the moderate forces and SAA engage in all-out was against al-nusra and their extremist affiliates. From there, begin advancing against the Islamic state and ypg.

But Iraq is a U.S. puppet, once they get into Syria they will just support the "moderate rebels" and fight the SAA.

Iraqi units are fighting on SAA's side in Syria. Iraq is flipping for Iran nowadays.

To some extent. I doubt that Iraqi soldiers would attack Syria without serious coercion.

This has been on my mind, the tiger forces have been advancing against the Islamic state near Palmyra countryside; I mean, consider that multiple hilltops and mountains were captured by the tiger forces and that the majority of SAA forces have been allocated to clear up Aleppo province. Does major general hassan plan on advancing to as-sukhnah with his small fighting force?

And yet our kekold of a president has nothing in military experience. Can you name a man more based than president Bashar al-assad?
