I think that was the moment I first realised something was horribly wrong. Despite that I went on to take English Lang in college only to find myself studying how babies develop and how to jew people with advertisements. The proportion of time spent learning the actual fundamentals of the English Language was far too small. I asked at one point about semicolons only to find the person who was supposed to be teaching me had no fucking clue either.
I have no confidence in myself now. Got A's and A*'s but I'm doubtful that means much given the state of the syllabus and quality of educators.
It's not even a bad college, pretty highly rated, so I can only assume this is endemic.

There seems to be a misconception that empathy is thinking how you would feel if you were in someones situation. Drink lots of water. Better yet, learn how to make ice tea. Ice tea will help you regulate your temperature.
Put a wet towel/bandana on your head and keep it wet. If you're in 100% humidity you're fucked.
Home-made swamp cooler (only if it's dry): put a wet towel over a fan. Must have a draft going through the house.
