It proselytizes HARD, and it promises a good after life for those that spread it. It's not actually true. Turkishness is more of a cultural thing than a genetic. Originally they were Mongolian/Chinese-looking, but they don't have a stable genetic signature the westmost you get. They just captured other stock, converted them, and rinse and repeat. Turks in western Turkey are convert Greeks, in the central they are convert Hittite, northeastern they are Armenian/Georgian, and so on. There is some Oghuz contribution in Turkey, but it's not more than 10-15% in Turkey it self. As for the Balkans, Turks (actual, physical people, I mean) never reached them.
