Well, the right answer is:
Mexico doesn't benefit immediatly from the wall, but it is necessary for the safety and stability of the american people and that's the main reason >I< support it, I don't want Mexico to grow on the US' misfortune and weakness, it doesn't matter if the wall itself is bad for us, it matters that it's good for the USA.
As for why us paying it is good, if Mexico outright pays for it with it's own wealth, it will relieve some of the debt that we have with the US, right now we have a trade deficit that favours us by the billions of dollars, and the US would respond to that deficit by increasing taxation that now is nonexistant; once Trump gets to the presidency, a 30% taxation on imported goods would already be harmful, but if the debt is not mitigated, that taxiation could increase to 50%.
The wall will help Mexico and the US to trade at very similar level.

It's impossible for a candidate to go into such detail because he doesn't have access to the needed information, and because the president never does it anyway, but sets guidelines and hires the right people.
As for military plans against ISIS, anything specific he says would become irrelevant by the time he'll be in office, then there is the classified information and keeping your plans unknown to your enemies.
