>Sir Alan James Carter Duncan, KCMG (born 31 March 1957) is a British Conservative Party politician.

>He received several promotions to the Conservative front bench until he eventually joined the Shadow Cabinet after the 2005 general election and stood for the Conservative leadership in 2005 but withdrew early on because of a lack of support.

>Duncan was the first sitting Conservative MP voluntarily to acknowledge that he is gay;[44] he did this in an interview with The Times on 29 July 2002, although he has said that this came as no surprise to friends.[35] Indeed, in an editorial published on the news of Duncan's coming out, The Daily Telegraph reported, "The news that Alan Duncan is gay will come as a surprise only to those who have never met him. The bantam Tory frontbencher can hardly be accused of having hidden his homosexuality."[45]

>On 3 March 2008, it was announced in the Court & Social page of The Daily Telegraph that Duncan would be entering into a civil partnership with his partner James Dunseath,[46] which would make him the first member of either the Cabinet or the Shadow Cabinet to enter into a civil partnership.[47] The two were joined as civil partners on 24 July 2008 at Merchant Taylors' Hall in the City of London.[48]

>Duncan has a committed following in the gay community and is active in speaking up for gay rights.[47] He was responsible for formulating the Conservatives' policy response to the introduction of civil partnership legislation in 2004,[46] which he considered his proudest achievement of the Parliament between 2001 and 2005.[49] In 2007, Pink News named him the 15th-most powerful LGBT person in the UK.[47]

Out of the EU the ECHR is second only to the British Supreme Court.

We have control.

As far as tech/surveillance legislation goes, this is one of the worse outcomes the UK could have had. May has been consistently pushing for more and more spying, less oversight and more secrecy surrounding it, all in the name of national security. The sad thing is nobody cares at all, people here LEGITIMATELY believe the nothing-to-hide bullshit and actively support it, along with shit in the vein of opt-out internet filters and ID checking for online porn.

Being someone who understands most of the tech issues behind it, with friends whose tech knowledge extends to how to use their smartphone, I can say that nobody will care until it's far too late. The Snowden leaks were just barely reported on here at all: only by The Guardian, which received threats of legal action from Parliament itself and was forced to destroy copies of the leaks or have their CEO prosecuted. The BBC outright ignored it because they're in bed with the government. It's no wonder, then, that the average person doesn't know or care about the extent of the spying that happened/is now being legalised (after years of happening anyway).

To say that the British population doesn't care is a huge understatement, and it makes my stomach turn to hear it justified with vague hints at terrorism and paedophiles.

I think there's something deeper going on here. I don't know what, but it's very suspicious. Firstly Farage resigning, then Nuttall deciding not to stand. And now of course we have Leadsom deciding to stand down after the race has become 1v1, securing the leadership for May. Clearly something else is at work here, perhaps they've been given threats/warnings.

This is what I'm thinking.

It'll be political suicide to just not invoke article 50. There will be ever increasing pressure, and if for some reason article 50 is still not invoked by 2018 then serious questions are going to be raised. Eventually people will get pissed, people will leave the conservative party and join UKIP in protests no matter how "cucked" UKIP might be by then.

Maybe UKIP should make a deal in that they would not stand in marginal seats in exchange for Article 50 being invoked by 2018 at the absolute max, just in time for the 2020 election when the 2 years is up.
